I suppose GUIMiner is not fine for p2pool. You need the updated poclbm (for the 1 second thing) but...you can't update the miner of guiminer, so...
3626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time for a short break: How long before bitcoins feature on The Big Bang Theory? on: January 19, 2012, 05:11:15 PM
Lately The Big Bang Theory seems more interested in sex and women than technology... so good luck for bitcoin.
3627  Economy / Speculation / Remember remember the thread of the year, and what greed can do on: January 18, 2012, 06:02:13 PM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=59969.0

Let's remember the dangers of greed and leveraging 10:1 and not paying attention: you can lose  alot of money  Shocked

And let's remember that epic thread, it's original name was " +200% profits on bitcoinica in 1 day"; then it attack bitcoinica with "fraud on bitcoinica, who got margin calls point in point too ?" and, noticing the epic fail (because it's NOT bitcoinica fault), he locks it and rename it to "."

But... i think we should remember it  Cheesy
3628  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Open Source Software and Licensing for Profit. on: January 18, 2012, 05:59:39 PM
I think his question is if a company have to get a license or what to be able to use bitcoin and whatelse and wondering what is stopping bitcoin to well take over the world...

As far as i know no, you don't need anything, you just set up the shop with a way to receive bitcoin and that's all, your choice how and what to do.

Why bitcoin hasn't take over the world so far? Well, i think it's a mix of the fact that it's still a small thing (chicken-egg problem), the missing things of the client and dunno, something else

3631  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Open Source Software and Licensing for Profit. on: January 18, 2012, 02:33:34 PM
Licensing? Profit? If you start a company that use bitcoins, no need for any "license"

If you are thinking about putting your name on the bitcoin client and SELLING it, then it's probably illegal...
3632  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stabilization? on: January 18, 2012, 02:32:15 PM

3633  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet on flash drive. on: January 18, 2012, 02:29:49 PM
If you have only 8 connections (the default ones) then the port is NOT forwarded.

About getting the blockchain and comparing it to torrents: note how it work a lot on the hard disk, there are different bottle necks. The 5.2 client will fix some.

About the wallet: the wallet is NOT the blockchain.

3636  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 0.5.1 wowwzzers on: January 16, 2012, 11:30:37 AM
