3621  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Roulette Strategy on: September 10, 2021, 04:02:15 AM
Hi guys, I have seen this roulette strategy and I would like to know your opinions before trying it in the online casino.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiOldswj57A

I watched the video some minutes in, and just finally came to the conclusion that the video was made on YouTube just to gain views. How can you even have a strategy for a gambling game like roulette where no move is right and no move wrong, and played mostly for fun. Some gambling games require strategy, IMO roulette is not one of them.
3622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why use the word CRASH instead of LOSSES on BTC? on: September 10, 2021, 03:23:13 AM
If you have friends who are yet to accept BTC, the way they talk about BTC when ever there is a dip will make you think that BTC project has ended.
They will be like, "I heard BTC has crashed"
To me the word "crash" means and sounds like a total or woeful failure.

If the market is on the negative side(losses) there should be some other friendly words to calm the situation to lay man, rather than using the word "crash" which seems like a perpetual exaggeration or failure.

For every kind of business and investment, there are particular vocabularies that are associated with them. The word crash is used in cryptocurrency because it is the vocabulary that is used to describe a massive drop in value, just like you have other vocabularies like "bubble" "burst" etc. "Crash" only sounds like a total or woeful failure to you because of the normal meaning that you have associated with it.

3624  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Setting up a gambling business on: September 09, 2021, 05:39:22 AM
Am beginning to pick interest in gambling but I don't have any computer code knowledge but will love to operate a gambling site and will like to get some advice from the members of this forum, I have the capital to run the business until it starts making profits.

Most times, when venturing into a new business say gambling in this case and you have the capital to push the business without the technical knowledge, it is good that you get yourself a team of professionals in different aspects involving gambling to get involved in your project to build and run a gambling site, you can't do it on your own, some projects run better with a team rather than an individual.
3625  Economy / Speculation / Re: Massive flash crash on: September 07, 2021, 09:21:36 PM
I Was expecting a correction in this period and actually happened, it was quite understandable after so many days of price pump, but I have to admit that I wasn't expecting such a massive crash (almost 20%).

20% is quite huge, but just as you said, as a crypto hodler or trader you should always expect the market to crash after a pump, because such crashes create an opportunity (entry point) for new to invest and old to get more.

What you should concern yourself with mostly is how to handle the inevitable in cryptocurrency which is the occasional market crash, what to do and how to cushion the effects on your investment.
3626  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Uk most deprived areas have the Highest number of gambling outlets. on: September 06, 2021, 07:10:03 PM
According to the source :
https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/aug/23/uks-most-deprived-areas-have-highest-number-of-gambling-outlets-report

The most deprived areas of UK are actually having more number of gambling outlets, which is a matter of concern for sure.

Apparently according to the source people are targeting the most deprived and economically weak areas which is sad. The companies are trying to scam people away and this is not working well for the people around since they might get addicted for sure.

How should they go about controlling these things? Should the government try and make laws to ban such behavior and such state? I think people should have a minimum wage for sure when it comes to gambling, what do you think ?

The financially poor in society like to try out their luck hoping that someone in doing so they run into wealth, that's why you can also notice that in some countries where birth is not regulated, the poor people give birth to the most number of children sometimes also in the hope that one must get rich.

If gambling outlets are sited in areas where the high class in society stays, they will not make much sales because unlike the poor, the rich do not have intentions to walk into small gambling outlets in the hope to get rich. If they gamble, they rather like to do it big and have fun while at it like the casino's and at their convenience like gambling online.
3627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would bitcoin still go far if it was private on: September 06, 2021, 05:09:39 PM

Many countries have decided to launch into digital currency after the success of bitcoin even though it wasn't the first crypto currency but it's open sourced nature and complete consensus gave it maximum trust from all over the world which gave it huge success from trusted investors. My fear now is considering the digital currency that would be released and that is already in circulation from different countries operating on both private or permissionsed block chain would it be safe to invest in them.

First off, you should first remember that cryptocurrency was not originally created for investment purpose, the opportunity of investment only came to light when people understood its volatile nature not being tied to fiat and without control by the government. So planning to invest in any CBDC because your investment in crypto yielded you profit might just put you on a wild goose chase. There's no point IMO because the government mostly only intend for it to be used for transaction purpose, and will not allow for a transparent system where it's uses can evolve freely.

3628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Credit cards and gambling (tabcorp, Australia) on: September 06, 2021, 11:47:47 AM
Apparently according to the tabcorp, banks are supposed to be responsible for the credit card bans.

They also provided the stats that only 14% of the users use credit cards and most of them use it responsibly. Therefore the ban would be enforced by the banks and not by any government and the authority.

IMO i believe that the management of tabcorp are very correct in saying that credit card bans should be enforced by banks. For them to take up such a responsibility will require new infrastructure and maybe some staffs dedicated to analysing data, and since the bank already has the these datas, the officials and infrastructure working closely to that line, it will be easier for them to extend their services thus.

Also in terms of business image, it doesn't tell well for a gambling company to be issuing ban to its users.
3629  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESPN into a betting deal worth 3 billion dollars $$$ on: September 06, 2021, 06:01:30 AM
From what i understand from the article i am not sure they are entering the gambling space or they are planning to lease out their brand image to gambling sites and planning to earn money that way.

I think it is more to lease out their brand image, kind of advertising:

Quote
But executives have said they want the company to avoid being directly involved in gambling transactions.

A brand-licensing deal would allow ESPN to profit from the boom in sports gambling without taking bets and making payouts to winners, which requires licenses in individual states.

Source: ESPN Explores Sports-Betting Deal Worth at Least $3 Billion

Exactly, majority of the reader's on this thread have misinterpreted the context of the article to mean that they want to open their own betting sites and cryptocurrency accepting casino's. This Betting deal is a business strategy. The management must have explored the possibility of entering an already competitive gambling/online betting industry and seen that they are not bouyant enough economically to push it on their own, so they have devised another way to gain from it without actually getting papers for it, very clever.
3630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 06, 2021, 05:13:49 AM
England performance have been very impressive. They brutally beaten Andorra with 4-0. And also dominated the game with 89% ball possession. It was an interesting match.

Particularly for Lingard who had a super performance and already showing both country and club coach and fans that his morale is high (probably with the thoughts of playing with CR7 after the international break, which you see after he mimicked CR7's signature celebration with an upgrade or maybe with the thoughts of England unbeaten run in the qualifiers so far). He hasn't scored a goal for England in a really long time.

1. Portugal
2. Sweden
3. Switzerland
4. Finland
5. Czechia
6. Israel
7. Netherlands
8. Croatia
9. Poland
10. Armenia

As you can see, all of them are very strong teams (perhaps with the exception of Armenia and Poland). The competition for the last 3 qualification sports is going to be fierce.

I want to see CR7 play in the 2022 World Cup which may be his last world cup performance before he retires. I tip Portugal, Croatia and Netherlands to secure the last 3 spots.
3631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do not make curiosity to people around you while you are playing gambling. on: September 05, 2021, 05:56:33 PM

It is sad when an adult exposes a young child to gambling activity - as kids can be very impressionable. Like a lot of things in life, bad habits can be learned by how you are raised and the environment around you, even if that is not the intention of the person with the problem.

Sometimes satisfying a child's curiosity by answering questions is enough to help a child make a good decision in the future. If your environment is an environment where there are different forms of gambling activity, don't think that keeping your child away from what is, and always under constant supervision will help the child, it is best you educate the child and tell him about what is going on around him so he can be make a good decision and be comfortable to talk to you if he has questions.

The major problem is that not talking about gambling and other habits heightens curiosity in children by not telling them about it. If parents learn to talk more to their children and explain the dangers of habits the case of starting to gamble out of curiosity will not have resulted in many.

3633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 77% of Russian investors prefer Bitcoin to Gold and Forex on: September 05, 2021, 12:20:36 PM
Russia stands at number 8 on the ranking of countries with most internet access according to this survey for 2021;
https://www.internetworldstats.com/top20.htm

IMO, i think any country with high internet access where it's citizens surf the internet properly, it's citizens must have come across stories and trends about cryptocurrency and bitcoin, what it really means and the opportunities for investment that it holds.

After having come across this information and understood properly, many who are investors or have that mindset will most definitely choose to invest in bitcoin than gold or fiat just like most of the investors in Russia are doing at the moment.
3634  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria Local Board, All board discussion welcomed. {No Official Language} on: September 05, 2021, 05:41:33 AM

How I wish we all live by what we study in Nigeria, education is not meant to only pass through and have a roughly experience, we work on what we learn in school and make application in the practical world. Don't be surprised they were both on this our Bitcointalk forum.
The headline read thus:
"A father and son who help clients find forgotten crypto passwords estimate billions of dollars worth of lost bitcoin is recoverable"

It is really a nice and Lucrative niche of business that they have carved out for themselves, i'm really impressed at it and e dey very satisfying to know say wetin person dey do dey sweet am for body and the name they have given it "treasure hunting online", shows they really love their job.

I think a lot of persons worldwide and Naija will be very interested in trying to get back the amount of bitcoins they have lost due to something even if it means giving a percentage to someone for the help.

Do they take international clients? Any idea how person go fit reach them?
3635  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can bitcoin exist without fiat on: September 05, 2021, 05:01:35 AM
so i want to know if any other digital currency can function without fiat?.

Considering the accessibility of cryptocurrency to some, i can say cryptocurrency is not completely accessible to all. Take for instance, the aged who do not care to learn anything new and those most importantly without vision who cannot make use of a digital cryptocurrency wallet and their only option for a physical transaction is fiat currency that they can touch. Because bitcoin and other cryptocurrency developer's still have issues like this unsolved, bitcoin cannot exist without the traditional fiat.
3636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is only new to the newbie on: September 04, 2021, 09:20:04 PM
Many still find it difficult to accepting this digital era because of their past experience with internet fraudsters and looters who made many bankrupt when ponzi was introduced. How do you think this stigma can be dealt with and how do we get people out of this so the don't get left out due to their FUD.

First off, i don't think you should over concern yourself too much with preaching about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to skeptics and those who have written it off, you can simply tell them about it and if possible, suggest a credible website where they can read more about it for themselves. Also such persons often with time have a change of opinion on their own, sometimes influenced by other people's testimony or results, but until that time...do not over stress on it, else they may think you are involved in scam activities as well. The simple truth remains that - Time will tell.
3637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: September 04, 2021, 03:03:58 PM
Has anyone bet on Arsenal in its match against norwich.

Betting on who to win this match is going to be a tough one seeing that Norwich is comfortably directly above Arsenal at the bottom of the table. It's been a bad start for both teams most especially arsenal. I'd bet on both teams to score, its a safer bet for me.

For the Manchester United game against Newcastle, i think the odds where already in favour of the reds judging from how far they are from Newcastle who are three places from the bottom of the table. The odds of winning has further increased for the reds with the introduction of the goal machine CR7 who is a big motivation and morale booster for the players. Newcastle United stand no chance.

3638  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Strategies changes with time on: September 04, 2021, 02:29:08 PM
Trading Strategies are not constant , it changes with time.

The majority will all agree, as do i. But IMO, i believe that it is not a general thing, that is because everyone has their trading strategy, the change in your strategy that may have resulted because your were loosing and needed to change your strategy, may not mean another person at that time frame has to change his strategy as well because as you lost, so also another person person won the trade. So the change in strategy is more a personal thing, i'd like to put it as "your trading strategy changes with time" and it changes because you have recorded a loss or consecutive losses.
3639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum's first ever deflationary day. What does this mean? on: September 04, 2021, 02:01:41 PM
The general crypto meaning of deflation is when a cryptocurrency reaches max supply, so in layman's terms, ETH first ever deflationary day is the day the amount of ETH in demand exceeded the amount in supply.

Ethereum coins will decrease after the launch of the Merge. It is too early to draw conclusions based on the results of 1 day.

Yes, but it is a pointer to show already that their plans to increase the value of ETH by reducing the market supply by burning the base fees for every transaction instead of letting it go to miners, is already working.
3640  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: September 04, 2021, 09:20:18 AM
As an Arsenal fan,we hope Arteta is sacked for the betterment of the team, because ever since he started managing Arsenal, they've been in shambles, there is no unity among the player, and they are all against Arteta's decision.

The reason Arsenal are in a mess is because the players are not playing with a happy mind, they simply want to loose so that Arteta will get sacked. They are not okay with his decisions most atimes,Arsenal spent more than any other club in the EPL this season, but Arsenal are still seated right at the bottom of the table.Arsenal need change of coach for them to do well in the EPL.
The availability of Conte is a big plus to arsenal if they can get him on board, I strongly believe things will change around London due to his previous title winning moments with Chelsea and intermilan, having Conte might take Arsenal to their glory days of contending and winning major titles...

We've all agreed that Arteta needs to go out and say Conte become replacement, another major concern to me is, will the arsenal players be able to quickly adjust to a new managers style of play and still finish this season at a reasonable spot on the table? You know we've seen cases where it takes a while for players to adjust to a coach's new style of play and tactics.
