3621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Australia moving forward on: May 11, 2017, 07:46:15 AM
I knew it ! Japanese finally had their effect on the whole world and their stance against bitcoin. the first one which was huge in my opinion was Russia, they stopped treating bitcoin as "something we may call illegal soon" and started "we may call it legal".

the next was the European countries which had some chatter about legalizing bitcoin as a currency like Japan.

and now this. if this is accepted then I am sure many more countries will follow. we have to fasten our seatbelts because this year the final price may surprise all of us.
3622  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone have tips for trading bots? on: May 10, 2017, 08:15:54 AM
essentially all you can do with a bot can be done manually too. these bots are used to make things easier and also faster not many are designed for automation, apart from things such as using them to do some stop loss trades for you. although there are some that do more than just simple functions but they are going to be expensive.
so the question is how much do you earn from trading, if it is high enough, then investing some of it to buy a good trading bot can be plausible.
3623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One of many reasons why I love bitcoin on: May 10, 2017, 07:33:05 AM
this is one of the many transactions that I received, this was from some small exchange that I was trading there for fun and to learn more about how to use API in my bot and I cashed out all my balance worth $7.48.

and this is my cold storage, which has been taking deposits ever since 2014 Cool:

Meaning you are earning 7.48$ a day? This is good for you, congrats anyway! Me why I love bitcoin so much because it gives joy and happiness actually, and I received profit every week where I get it from doing trade.

no, that was all the bitcoin's that I had on one small exchange that I don't even recall its name now. I think they closed down because nobody used them anyways. and I just withdrew this amount that I had there to play around with.

I could share some bigger transactions that I had but I though small ones such as 7 bucks had a better message in it.
3624  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 10, 2017, 03:38:59 AM
Got a FOMO attack and rebought everything I'd sold @ 1200 following Afrikoin's advice.
Who remembers?
Now I have 40% less coins, thanks to that stupid belief.
Lesson learned, page turned, now I'm on JimboToronto train. No matter the price, I'll take every chance to buy. Every month if I can...
Back to HODLrs team and I'll honor my nickname.

following what other people say is never a good idea, specially what they say on a forum online, double specially when it comes to matters involving money.
not saying everyone is out there to spread false information to benefit their own pockets but saying many can be wrong no matter how good you think they are. try to just take what others say as advice then process it yourself. and I say process not act on it.
3625  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hits $1,600 and one investor says it could rally to $4,000 in few months on: May 10, 2017, 03:14:20 AM
it is interesting that whenever bitcoin price rises, everyone comes out and start making these speculations, and most of these news comes from people whom we never heard of before, or they never made any statement about bitcoin.
I say these kind of speculation are only good if they did it back when price was low. for example when price took a dive down to $900 from $1200. not when it is showing all signs of rise.

and what's up with these short term huge price rise kind of deals! $2400 rise in a few months!! c'mon!
3626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One of many reasons why I love bitcoin on: May 10, 2017, 02:57:45 AM
Compare that to interest you might have received from your local bank. Example = 10% interest at a bank per year :

2014 - $7.48 = {$0.748}
2015 - $8.23 = {$0.823}
2016 - $9.05 = {$0.905}
2017 - $9.96 ---> rounded off = $10-00 <---- The reality will be that banking fees would have been more.  Shocked Shocked Shocked

My math may be incorrect, but it is close enough to make a good comparison. It would never trump $48.14 interest over 3 years vs $7.48. I can

just imagine if this was $1 000 000  Grin

10% is a big profit annually and only found in countries which have a very high inflation rate (as far as I know). your calculations are not wrong but they are just not accurate.

for example the banks where I live calculate the profit daily, they pay the profit monthly though. and for that your calculation would be a little bit off. the total after 3 yeas would be $10.10 exactly if you use the daily method. the formula for it can be found in Microsoft Excel if you are interested.
Code:
=FV(10%/365,3*365,0,-7.48)
3627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC feeling the realtive market Cap decline on: May 08, 2017, 08:23:55 AM

I don't know if you realize this but I have been around long enough to see all the same arguments be repeated by different people at the similar times in history about different or similar coins and they are always the same.
and the future of all these arguments always end up the same.

you see history loves repeating itself.

I did some quick and dirty screenshots of this "history" and drop percentages are calculated based on the top of each bubble and the bottom of the price when they burst each time. mostly taking a long time to reach the bottom as these coins have a "big market cap" Wink

and none of these are a one time thing. they have all been repeated multiple times. I just showed one of them that I could find quickly without wasting much of my time.
each year or at least every couple of months we see the same patterns. sometimes small bubbles, sometimes big and throughout all the altcoin market.

3629  Economy / Speculation / Re: do not be afraid of the alts-rally on: May 08, 2017, 07:41:39 AM
Some of these altcoins could survive as alternatives to bitcoin. I don't think all will just die. Bitcoin and some altcoins could last for a while.
There are few potential altcoins that might survive for longer time period. In the past too users could have never thought dash, doge, and all survive long. But it is strong and altcoins survival increase when it gets used for other purposes same as bitcoin. Right now only for trading purpose altcoins were preferred.

define survive first.
if your definition of surviving is the altcoins continue to get dumped now and then after a while, maybe a couple of months maybe a year from now they pump again, and dump again and pattern continues then you are 100% right. they will survive and continue doing this and each time a lot of bag-holders lose a lot of money while a limited number of traders make a lot of money from these newbies who bought into the hype.

edit:
enjoy
3630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC feeling the realtive market Cap decline on: May 08, 2017, 07:20:26 AM
Well, combined with low volume, market caps don't mean much.  However, when taking into account both market cap and volume, there is a non-deniable decline in bitcoin's relative importance in the crypto scene - which, as I said elsewhere, is a good thing.  After all, we're about decentralization, so monopolies and locked-in one-for-all rules are not a good thing.

of course.
put a good advertising team behind that altcoin, it gets enough volume!
put some good pumpers on the project, it gets higher volume!
list it on exchanges such as poloniex that pump the coins and have crazy volume, the volume grows!

in the end that is just trading volume of speculators pump and dumping the coins to make more money.
3631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Cash is better than Bitcoin. on: May 08, 2017, 07:16:03 AM
how to advertise on bitcointalk:
1. put what you are advertising in your signature
2. make some outrageous topic on bitcointalk to attract a lot of users coming to correct you. better if it is against bitcoin.
3. bump it up every time it goes down with more controversy.
4. have the delusion that you are advertising your thing in your signature.
5. get banned because of spamming.
3632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC feeling the realtive market Cap decline on: May 08, 2017, 07:02:26 AM
market caps are bubble numbers of meaningless stats.

how dare you lie to us. marketcap is so meaningful without a doubt.
don't believe me, take a look at this screenshot.

this very good, very useful altcoin which is marked here it is being used all around the world. people left USD for it, it had the 3rd place on market cap list which shows how it is very 100% meaningful. soon CUBE will replace bitcoin and then USD. now you wait. I just don't know why it is worth 0.1 satoshi (1e-9BTC) right now and keeps going down Grin
3633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can you tell me where I can shopping by the BTC? on: May 07, 2017, 08:23:30 AM
is it safe?the gyft.com. I am worried about  the sites come from illegal way

I have not heard anything bad about gyft.com or purse.io yet. they seem to be perfectly legal businesses which have been working for a long time.
but make sure to do your own research.
3634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can you tell me where I can shopping by the BTC? on: May 07, 2017, 08:04:08 AM
the best option for you is to ask in your local board, people know more about shops in their own country that the rest of the world.

you can also use google to find website that do this. something like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=buy+smartphone+with+bitcoin
and then search the website's name for reviews. for example: search for "e4btc.com reviews" to see if they are legit or not. or even offer a good service.

also you can do another thing. go buy a gift card for Amazon or something like that through sites like gyft.com and then use that to purchase a cell phone from Amazon. you'll get a good discount this way too. so you can save on some money.

you may also want to check out https://purse.io/ I have not used it but I hear it has good options.
3635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction on: May 07, 2017, 07:51:14 AM
Sorry, the transaction fee is 0.0007 btc automatically set in electrum wallet & not 0.007 btc.
again, you either have to give a tx id or tell us what the fee per byte is.
0.0007BTC fee can be high for a 220 byte transaction size or can be low for a bigger size of transaction.

The usually time to confirm the transaction is 30 minutes to 3 days only is the highest I encountered.
nonsense. the usual time to get a confirmation on a transaction is 10 minutes on average. if you pay lesser fee, it takes longer time. so don't pay small fees.

Quote
Your transaction fee is good and high
nonsense again. you don't know if the transaction fee is high or low. you don't know the size of his transaction. it can easily be a 1 MB transaction paying 0.007BTC fee for all you know.

Quote
but I dont think why your transaction not confrim yet. Many people said the transaction they have low priority and high priority I think your wallet is in low priority. I THINK ALSO THE ONE REASON ITS BECAUSE THE PRICE IS VERY HIGH .
I have no idea what this part is about! possibly just to make your comment long!
3636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction on: May 07, 2017, 07:41:24 AM
tell us your tranasction fee/byte value not fee.
and sadly there aren't much things you can do at this point other than including a higher fee (220 satoshi per byte) or waiting until the spam attack is lesser so your transaction goes through.
also for ViaBtc you have to try every hour since they reset the 100 tx limit that way.
3637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $0.85 transaction fee is absolutely ridiculous! on: May 05, 2017, 09:16:49 AM
http://coincap.io/
Average Fee
$1.61
https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx
The current best transaction fees 199 Satoshis/byte | 0.00199 BTC/KB
0.00199 = 3.19 USD
https://bitcoinfees.21.co/
Which fee should I use?
The fastest and cheapest transaction fee is currently 200 satoshis/byte, shown in green at the top.
For the median transaction size of 226 bytes, this results in a fee of 45,200 satoshis (0.75 USD).
Where did you get the "because fees are still $0.4-$0.5"?

the numbers you are quoting are fee per byte not fee.

if you don't do Address reuse and don't receive a lot of dust inputs from things like faucets and microjobs then your wallets stays clean of dust and when you want to spend bitcoin your transaction size will be about 220 byte (give or take). and with a 199 Satoshis/byte fee your total fee would be 43780 satoshi and that is $0.7 with the current $1600 (my calculation was with a lower bitcoin price because I forgot to check the current price of today! and $1600 was reached today)

in any case it is still not $0.85 and not $1 and not $1.61 or $3.19
3638  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I sell my BTC or buy more? on: May 05, 2017, 08:40:31 AM
think about why you made an investment in bought bitcoin in first place?

answer that and you can get your answer to this question here too. and believe me, nobody can answer either of these questions but you.
3639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $0.85 transaction fee is absolutely ridiculous! on: May 05, 2017, 08:28:49 AM
You are not wrong but you are not right either! because fees are still $0.4-$0.6 (mostly because price has gone up a lot)

and if you ended up paying anything more than that, it means your transaction had a lot of outputs to spend and that is what caused your transaction size to grow 2 or 3 times in size compared to a normal 220 byte transaction and you as a result ended up paying 2 or 3 times more fee than normal fee.

I am not saying fees have not gone up. I am more pissed off about higher fees as the next guy but it is not $1.
3640  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Access to Insider Information? on: May 05, 2017, 08:21:09 AM
I suspect tons of insider trading going on.  For example look at the charts before major news.  I.e. the dumpings before polo delistings and accumulation before listings.

well part of it is always a public knowledge. for example exchanges delist coins that are dead or are not generating them enough profit. and you can see this on the charts and by simply looking at the history of trading volume. but that doesn't warrant a pump though.

the same goes for listing. coins that are good, for example a new coin that has been performing well enough and has a high daily volume will definitely be added to more exchanges sooner or later and accumulation is usually easy to spot on the charts.
