3621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I say it again: REDUCE THE FEES! on: April 05, 2013, 03:34:08 AM
I just sent $400 by Western Union to China. It cost me $25.
I could send that same $400 by Bitcoin to China for $.07.

Clearly, the fees are far too low.
3622  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: April 3 BFL ASIC update. on: April 05, 2013, 03:19:06 AM

WTF is this? Are they actually going to FUCK all those pre-orders and try to scam more money out of people. Seriousy, if you ordered an SC for $1300 rated for 60 GH/s what the hell would you really get? ANYTHING? Dude, before they even come out with a proto-type they are already changing the product line up? Total failure here. Seriously.

That's so they don't have to honor long-term warranties. The pre-orders were all for Jalapenos, Little SCs, SCs, and MiniRigs and come with "lifetime" warranties. Lifetime being as long as the product is in production. Now there's a new line of products. All those "lifetime" warranties are now 1-year warranties.
3623  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: coinjedi / betsofbitco.in SCAMMERS: Declares "Push" on obvious win for BFL bet on: April 05, 2013, 12:42:55 AM
I actually considered betting on the true side of this bet several months ago, but I decided not to do so because the wording was far too ambiguous and general. I thought at the time that the bet was created by a BFL supporter and written to be very difficult for them to lose...

Even though it's clear that BFL didn't really "ship", the false side has a very good case according to the bet's conditions. So I think that Bets of Bitcoin did the right thing.

Which product "shipped" reached 75% of the announced hashrate. 1, 2, or 3?

Quote
1)    BitForce SC Jalapeno: a USB powered coffee warmer providing 3.5 GH/s, priced at under $149
2)    BitForce SC Single: a standalone unit providing roughly 40 GH/s, priced at $1,299
3)    BitForce SC Mini Rig: a case & rack mount server providing 1 TH/s, priced at $29,899
3624  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL SCREW UP AGAIN on: April 04, 2013, 11:53:14 PM
BFL HAS A NEW EFFING PRICE SCHEME, where does that leave me?

Same as before. With nothing.
3625  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: First BFL ASIC! on: April 04, 2013, 11:51:58 PM

I like Luke Jr. though.   I think he is being misled, I do not think he is part of the BFL scheme.

Of course he's in on it. They're paying him $250/day.
3626  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: First BFL ASIC! on: April 04, 2013, 11:34:37 PM
Has the bet already been paid to the otherwise losing side?

The bet was delcared a draw. BoB took their cut, and refunded the rest back to both sides.
3627  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: coinjedi / betsofbitco.in SCAMMERS: Declares "Push" on obvious win for BFL bet on: April 04, 2013, 11:30:20 PM
• The pictures claim to show a product hashing at about 25GH/s, which Luke-Jr says in a Little Single.  There was no such thing as a Little Single when the bet was made.  The 3 Bitforce SC products the bet concerns, and their hashrates concerning the bet are those listed in the post linked in the Bet.

More technicalities.
Before I got my Little Single, can you honestly say you would have interpreted the bet to exclude it?

Irrelevent. The bet clearly stated the 3 products. BFL did not ship any of them. The 75% hashrate requirement was not met. The bet should have been declared won for this point alone. There's no way you can honestly disagree.
3628  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL RIP OFF... price up 90%, 50GH/s for 2499$. on: April 04, 2013, 07:14:23 PM
What are they going to do with all those Mini Rigs Boxes with Fans? Refurbish? Devices to cool down all the hot air from Loudmouth Josh Zerlan / BFL?

That's the new Little Single. 1 chip per motherboard. 1 fan per motherboard. Just wait until you see the Big Single.
3629  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: April 3 BFL ASIC update. on: April 04, 2013, 04:44:24 PM
I don't think they can deliver 50 GH/s in the form factor they are showing.  Actually, it's doubtful the 25 GH/s will work thermally either.

There will be more rounds of back-tracking before a product is shipped.

I bet if they put the Single motherboard in the box of fans, that'll be fine.
3630  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Somebody is trying to steal batch 1 Avalon shippments from DHL! on: April 04, 2013, 04:42:23 PM
technically UPS Fedex and DHL are cargo, not mail. But since it's "mail fraud" across state lines it's still a federal crime.

And the package is listed as $299 value. Realistically, they're not going to do anything over such a cheap package.

Not true. Just try & see.

I've dealt with a lot of fraud over the years. Nothing ever comes of the "investigations". The new name and address where this package was redirected to isn't the actual person comitting the fraud. They're not that stupid.
3631  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL just raised prices significantly - and changed the specs on: April 04, 2013, 04:38:53 PM

I bet you people waiting to order for BFL to ship regret that now.

Yes, I regret not dumping 200 BTC into a Single 10 months ago. That 200 BTC is now worth $28,000. I am so sad!

New speed and pricing  Huh

I thought that image was 'shopped. But no, that image is for real!

Oh, look, they won't specify power usage anymore. WTG BFL.
3634  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: is it safe to set core frequency to 300Mhz (Extreme) for avalon? on: April 04, 2013, 03:57:08 PM
282 --> 65  (590W, 220v)
300 --> 71 (640W, 220v)
i am running it stable at 300 without problems although it is a bit loudy Smiley
i am not sure about PSU, i haven't opened it,  is it really 650W?  Shocked

Hmm extra 50 watts for 300. I guess that will for sure overwhelm the Antec 650 watt PSU if one runs at 120v. I don't think I will try this until I slap on a 850 watt or 7500 watt Gold or Platinum rated PSU.

Don't confuse input wattage to output wattage. The PSU is rated at 650 watts output. When the input wattage is 640, the output more like 500-550 watts (depending on efficiency), so that's fine for a decent PSU.
3635  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: First BFL ASIC! on: April 04, 2013, 02:55:53 AM

And wouldn't the bet have been worded that way so that no other product later introduce can meet the requirements in the bet?

Yes, it most cleary was:

Maybe they just ordered AVALONS and mounted them on their singes?

After sanding off the Avalon logo on the chips.

Although... I'd have expected a competent judge to contact me and ask my opinion on whether the device is capable of the 27 Gh/s required, in case my current results were the result of software issues. But it's immaterial, since as best as I can tell so far, I'm getting the most performance out of it that it can handle.

75% of 40 GH/s is 30 GH/s. The device didn't come close to the required speed for the bet. The bet was clearly won.

It was a 30GH unit (Little SC),not the 40 or 60GH unit..............................

Not an option. The terms of the bet clearly specified which products.

There is no "Little Single" included in the bet. The bet was clearly won. BoB called it a draw incorrectly. That is unless they are sending 24 GH/s units to all Jalapeno orders. Smiley

From what I'm hearing a certain competitor to betsofbitco.in didn't have any problems in determining a clear outcome to the same bet...
betsofbitco.in allowed for +/- 25% on hashrate (which was met)

Which product are you referring to? The bet clearly specified 3 products. Were you testing a Jalapeno?
