I'm new to this and have never posted on a forum in my life.  I just bought some DNotes today and signed up at DNotesVault.  Never in my life have I bought 10,000 anything for $100.  If I don't take a chance on this one, I'll kick myself all the way to the grave.  If it doesn't work out, what the heck, I'll spend another $20 on a bottle of wine and forget all about it in the morning.

Man, I like your attitude. I will bring a whole case and join you. Let's hope it will never come down to that.

Welcome to DNotes.

Welcome MarriedWithChildren! Looks like you will fit right in here. If you need any help let us know.

A think somewhile back, a request was made for retirement stories. Well, I'll give you one:

For most of my adult working life, I held down multiple jobs and careers. I've been in the workforce in one way or another since I was 12 years old. My main job for 20 years was as a Firefighter/EMT in a busy ocean side resort town. We ran about 1200 Fire calls and 7500 EMS calls a year. During down time from that, I managed a second career in electronics & computers, commercial fishing as a deck hand up through captain (Masters ticket), learned radio and electronics service business, and started a successful internet access provider that went national.

Through all this, the only job that offered security AFTER the fact was Firefighter. So, I didn't put much thought into those "golden years" back then and it looked like I wouldn't have to. Then, things changed. While fighting a rooming house fire, my partner and I were blown out of the second story by a steam explosion. He was severely injured and retired as a result, I got off easy with minor injuries but even so, things that came easy prior to that incident now produced pain or simply could not be accomplished.

This was shortly after the birth of my second daughter and reality said, "Time to retire before it buries you" and that is what I did. There were several options availble regarding pension payouts and I, being the Internet geek, choose the IRA cash out. This was 1993, how could it not be the best choice? It was heavy in tech stocks and that sector was booming right?

Well, you all know what happened then, the boom became a crash heard round the world when that bubble imploded and my excellent IRA became nearly worthless overnight. There was no going back and saying "My mistake, I wanted the 20 year payout instead..." The deal was done.

So for all those years, all that work, late nights, snow, hurricanes, floods, countless auto accidents fires and other disasters, I was left with almost exactly $27K for MY "Golden Years"

Luckily, I wasn't as stupid as I sound right now and had other sources of income and savings but it still hurt. What if I had not acquired the skills and knowledge I did while working for the City? Where would I be now? Don't even want to think about that.

Remember, there is no such thing as a sure thing, it's all subject to change....

That is an important lesson and likely a very common story of how things change so quickly, especially when you're not prepared.

CR.I.S.P. For Retirement - Landing Page - DRAFT
-------------------------------------------------------

CR.I.S.P. For Retirement

Helping to secure YOUR future in an uncertain financial world.

“Will you have the resources to enjoy your retirement or, will you still be working until you can no longer do so? In these uncertain financial times, it is becoming more and more difficult to maintain a retirement account that will actually see you through your golden years. DNotes believes that we can help. Please read the information presented here for more on the concept of using DNotes to augment your retirement savings.

RJF - Director, CR.I.S.P. For Retirement”

CR.I.S.P. For Retirement – A General Overview

CR.I.S.P. for Retirement is an unstructured and self-directed plan, using DNotes as the investment vehicle to supplement retirement savings. Re-occurring savings, in any amount, may be added at any time. This savings plan can be started with any amount of DNotes by opening an account at DNotesVault with an expanded registration at the CR.I.S.P. for Retirement landing page.

DNotesVault is a web wallet for DNotes, available to all DNotes’ stakeholders, at no cost. All coins at DNotes Vault are guaranteed with a coin match program held in a separate cold storage wallet, in a different location. In the event that the DNotesVault is compromised and your coins have gone missing, 100% of your lost DNotes will be replaced through a guarantee fund with a verifiable balance always in excess of the total DNotesVault deposit.

How many times have you heard this or something similar: "Retire, are you kidding, I'll have to work till I can't stand up!" How many times have you said that or something similar?

One of the hardest things we do throughout our working years is plan for the future. So much time and effort go into just getting by that we forget most income is finite and that we will need to put some away to carry us through our later years. Unlike most structured retirement funds and pension systems, CR.I.S.P. for Retirement is directed by YOU, not some fund managers or pension system trustees that my well make bad investments with your future.

Here, you control how much you save and the market, in general, controls what those savings will be worth in 5, 10, 20 or 30 years. It's simple, uncomplicated and you can see your plan any time you want to. You can add DNotes at any time, in any amount. Restrictions apply for withdraws prior to the expiration of your chosen "locked in date" but, there are means available to request early withdrawal of your DNotes if needed.

Here at DNotes, we truly believe crypto/digital currency is the future. If you do as well, or, just want to diversify your traditional investments, then put away some DNotes for those often spoken of "Golden Years", we at DNotes are ready and, willing to help.

Keep in mind that DNotes is the most stable digital currency among over 500 coins in the cryptocurrency space. It has also been one of the best performers based on return on investment. $100 invested in DNotes in March 2014, when it was first traded was worth over $2,000 by the end of 2014. Although there are no assurances that the value of DNotes will continue to appreciate at the same rate, or significantly lower, there are reasonable expectations that being an early stage investment and its strong growth path, DNotes has the potential to deliver potential high rate of returns. High potential returns investments are typically associated with high risk. Do not invest more than you can afford to loose in case of a total loss.

Bitcoin and DNotes are among the leaders in the new digital currency industry expected to be the next greatest technology revolution since the internet. This is an early stage or ground investment opportunity often associated with high risk for potential high returns. Seasoned investors typically budget no more than 10% of their portfolio in their asset allocation for high risk investment. We strongly recommend that you consider doing the same. CR.I.S.P. for Retirement should only be funded as a supplemental savings vehicle to your overall retirement savings.

Once again, DNotesVault is simply a secure web wallet to store your DNotes at no cost to stakeholders. DNotesVault does not enable the buying, selling, or exchange any fiat currency, digital currency or any property.

Buying DNotes safely online may take some time if you're not already involved in cryptocurrency trading. Consider this process like setting up a brand new bank account, in that once you are setup, it is easy to use.......http://dnotesvault.com/dnotes.php  ..............

-------------------------------------------

First draft, is this going in the right direction? I included and altered in some cases some of your standard prose. Please feel free to correct, suggest, change, add or delete anything.

Critics are the best writing tools around...

Looking great RJF! I will be watching for any edits and changes we need. In the meantime, once we have the global retirement stats (number of accounts, retirement accounts total, total principal investment USD, total interest, ect..), I will put it up on the site so we can see how it looks.

This post will be dedicated to maintaining a systematic list of items important to the future of DNotes. Alan's list of issues slowing mass acceptance of cryptocurrency inspired the idea. When you come across something or have an idea to be added, please quote this post and I will keep it updated. Hopefully I can keep all items in order of importance, if you feel something should be moved up or down the list, please state your argument.

What technologies are most important to the future and success of DNotes?

Cloud storage of the blockchain. Wallets sync with cloud instantly and no lag time at startup. This is a centralized item, however, but would be of great benefit. Instant syncing, instant sending, etc.

What major issues with the existing financial system can DNotes solve?

Instant transfers of money. We all know about the float time a bank has with checks, etc. This is archaic and has to be eliminated. This is a time of speed and now and this float time of days to transfer money has to be replaced. Also fees on these bank transfers, etc. are also a major hindrance.

What services are most important to the future and success of DNotes?

Accessibility, easy of use, fiat to DNotes website, and CLEARLY outlining benefits, programs, future of DNotes.

What major obstacles does DNotes face to achieve success?

Mainstream media negativity of any cryptocurrency in general. This will be the biggest hurdle in my opinion. Once this has been overcome, in a few years, we will all see the benefits as people realize/wake up to the potential that cryptocurrency has in store for the world. AND DNotes WILL pave the way for us ALL!

Soapbox mode: ON

Mainstream media negativity is, in my humble opinion, the biggest obstacle. The media these days only focuses on sensational actions and illegal activity. Headlines need to be bad and damaging to catch attention, in their mind anyway. We are all fed up with this though not many of us are doing anything about it. I propose a "Crypro Coin Media Watchguard" group specifically dedicated to searching for negative news and providing a counterpoint to each article. In truth, most headlines and stories about our industry have many mistakes and suppositions to the point of being totally inaccurate. Even outlets that claim to be dedicated to Bitcoin are publishing garbage for ratings.

There is no editorial oversite, very rarely a correction when called out and writers who are still clueless being praised for their "investigative journalism". It's a mess and we will be held back until we do something about it.

Yes, I know there is the "Bitcoin Foundation". What a joke that is. They can't decide whether to use the boys or girls bathroom without a vote and 4 weeks of discussion.
That is not the answer. We, as an industry, need to act swiftly and with great precision in putting out all the little fires before they burn down the house.

Soap box mode: OFF

Yes, I know there is the "Bitcoin Foundation". What a joke that is. They can't decide whether to use the boys or girls bathroom without a vote and 4 weeks of discussion.  Grin

When the Bitcoin Foundation announced in the fall that they were no longer going to be working on public policy and educational outreach, but rather focusing solely on core development, I remember thinking that was probably the worst step in the wrong direction.

I agree with everything else you said - a Media Watchguard is badly needed!

Mainstream media negativity has certainly been damaging to the industry, hence one of the biggest obstacles to early acceptance of cryptocurrencies. The second major obstacle is the costly burdensome registration, reporting and licensing requirements, as well as the lack of regulatory guidance.

Now that we have unloaded some of our frustrations on the mainstream media, how can we turn them around and get more of them to be our friends?

I can tell you how I did it when I was with Dauphin Technology in the early 1990s. I treated them with great respects and appreciation and never failed to return a single phone call. We were in the news practically every day for a number of years. I  even heard of  complaint from a major competitor saying, “Dauphin is a very small ($25 million) company, they are getting an unfair share on media attention.”  We will be nice to the mainstream media. May be the same thing can happen to DNotes.

You are right, as much fun as it is venting, it's not very productive.  The media thrives and survives on attention and it doesn't matter whether it is good or bad.  A lot of stories have a comment section, if the story is good and accurate (no sensationalism), we could praise the author and pass their story around.  If there are a lot of questionable facts - I don't know if it is better to politely correct them, or ignore them???

If the "facts" are questionable, or wrong, we should NOT ignore, we should offer the correct version. Yes, I'm venting, I'm sick of reading bad press from so called "Bitcoin" friendly outlets. I agree that the best way to deal with it is to turn them into friends and allies. When I was in the Internet Access business, we provided free connections to local radio stations and a newspaper or two in return for advertising. A side benefit was that these people would check with us prior to running stories that may have directly affected our operations which allowed us to provide our view or counterpoint. Worked well then, not sure how it would work now, much bigger scale involved.

This is how we could be most helpful. Let us try to come up with some positive Headlines that will emphasize the advantages of Digital Currency. Subject areas the industry and the media may have missed:

Bitcoin Alternative DNotes May Provide The Comfort Mainstream Media Needed, if one year of Consistent Stability with Solid Appreciation can Restore their Confidence.

With that we can write a few 700 word articles and distribute them to the mainstream media. We need positive, consistent, and accurate messaging throughout our industry reaching the mainstream media. The mood of our industry has been negatively affected by false narratives. It needs a positive boost.

Our industry needs the positive attention and I think Alan is right, we aren't going to change the media and the direction of their stories by challenging them only by getting them on our side. Stories can be sensationally positive, as well as sensationally negative. If a story is bad they make it horrific, and if it's good it's heaven sent, that's just how news sells. We need to focus on the positive and gain their respect and support.

That title is a great start, let's come up with more.

Great additions Marc! I love the storing the blockchain on the cloud one, needs some investigation, but would certainly have it's uses.

What technologies are most important to the future and success of DNotes?

1) An easy to use merchant payment verification system that doesn't require a third party
2) Cloud storage of the blockchain. Wallets sync with cloud instantly and no lag time at startup. This is a centralized item, however, but would be of great benefit. Instant syncing, instant sending, etc.

What major issues with the existing financial system can DNotes solve?

1) Instant transfers of money.
2) Micro transactions, under $1 are not feasible. The transaction fees make micro transactions unprofitable if not impossible.

What services are most important to the future and success of DNotes?

1) Direct and simple fiat to DNotes exchange.
2) Accessibility and Ease of Use
3) CLEARLY outlining benefits, programs, future of DNotes

What major obstacles does DNotes face to achieve success?

1) Half of the world's population does not have banking access and is therefore excluded from participating in economic growth.
2) Combating and rising above the bad reputation bitcoin has (whether it is deserved or not).
3) Mainstream media negativity of any cryptocurrency in general.

What about changing the link in the DNotesVault header so that it becomes a link to guaranteed funds addresses? That way the master header won't run out of space. You could state in a comment (click to look at verifiable addresses) and have a 'onMouseOver' event that triggers a popup description?

Yep, that's a great idea. Then we won't have to worry about how addresses are up there.

Hi everyone;

I am attempting to write a major article. Here is a sneak peek of an un edited first draft. Feel free to comments. No idea how far I can take it at this point.

Mass Consumer and Merchant Adoption of Bitcoin Has Been Underestimated.

Alan Yong, cofounder of Bitcoin alternative DNotes believes that a whole range of issues and the obstacles facing mass consumer and merchant adoption of Bitcoin has been underestimated. .......

Yong, a well regarded visionary in the early days of portable computers and wireless communication has always been known to think outside the box in developing winning strategies. He has certainly competed against the “big boys” with enviable success. He led a startup company in 1989 to prominence by teaming up with two major partners to win two for two mega government contracts. His first win was in partnership with Sysorex Information Systems Inc. of Falls Church, VA. in a bid for Departmental Microcomputer Acquisition Contract (DMAC) II, a $400 million package that included portable computers from Yong’s company, Dauphin Technology. The second win was in partnership with Sears Business Systems of Chicago for Navy Lapheld II procurement, valued at $450 million.

"He led a startup company in 1989 to prominence by teaming up with two major partners to win two for two mega government contracts."

Winning two for two major government contracts was not a lucky draw but simply the result of a “winning strategy”. Better yet, it was a combination of executing multiple winning strategies.

The competitive forces of personal computers became ferocious very quickly. Thousands of newcomers around the world who knew where to source computer parts started their own business claiming to be “the finest computer manufacturer with the latest technologies selling their PC at the best price”. Does this sound familiar in the cryptocurrency world today?

I quickly realized then that to survive, Dauphin Technology needed to differentiate. It had to take a different path and not just be a “me too”. We decided to go after two major government contracts that included a large number of portable computers. I started doing a great deal of research on government contracts, which I knew nothing about going in. I was told every time by experts in that field that Dauphin would not stand a chance for obvious reasons, which I easily agreed. The company was young with zero experience in Federal Government contracts, did not have the right products and did not have the money to fund such a large contract.

Soon I started to wonder what if I would do something others won’t do. The end result could lead me to do things others can’t do. Doing things others won’t or can’t do is one of DNotes’ winning strategies.

"
The strategy of designing a number of portable computers that meet 100% of the specifications in accordance with the contract certainly paid off nicely. Riding on the momentum to advance the new start-up further, Yong went head on to compete with Apple Newton and others with the smallest handheld computer of its time, named DTR. It quickly became a media sensation which drew the attention of IBM top management leading to the signing of a manufacturing partnership."

Hi everyone, I'm back in the real world now! Dyna, a belated Happy Birthday! I remember your company. I had a simiiar experience in the mid '90s with the brand new "Internet". After working in the field on and off since the early '80s, myself and a partner started a local Internet access company. This was before the Web, before fancy graphics and high speed connections. We purchased 5 modems (9600 Baud), rented a small space in a friend's TV repair shop and hung out the "shingle" as it were, and started providing "High Speed" Internet access to South Jersey.

We had a 56k line to another provider halfway across the state and constant busy signals but, we were on line. This humble startup grew into ProNet USA with 1300 POP sites around the country and in direct competition with Steve Case (AOL). We also opened a learning center where we taught computer and Internet classes and started a network integrator service with the new Microsoft  Windows for Workgroups and Novell Netware.

But, alas, the technology grew quicker than we could keep up and Case's free disk marketing plan was genius. Luckily, we saw the handwriting on the wall and when 56k modems arrived we decided to sell the business to a competitor who had been hounding us for years. It just wasn't worth the large investment in equipment needed to move to 56k when access prices were tumbling down for the customer and raising for the provider.

And so it goes with ground breaking technology, you might be able to catch the wave, but then you still have to ride it back to the beach without falling off your board, that's the hard part. I was lucky to have other sources of income during this time but most entrepreneurs are no so lucky.

So, what do I need to do at this point? I've been pretty much underground for the last week and still not completely caught up.

Welcome back RJF, hope you enjoyed your time in the sunshine state even though it was for work. Intriguing history, reminds me of how fast the mining industry has evolved, it is impossible to keep up. I'm sure Dyna will respond with where he is at and if he needs anything.

If you're lucky, meaning "work like hell and risk everything near and dear to you", you get your minute or two on the world stage. It's what you do in that time that will shape the rest of your life. I have no regrets.

Anyway, I was conversing with "CryptoBroker79" about adding some copy to something he is working on and it occurred to me that we should all make a conscious effort to provide links or mention of all CR.I.S.P products when composing press releases or even posts about individual products on social media. I know that seems obvious but, what I'm getting at is a "product line home page" A simple page in the DNotesVault style that simply provides links to all products, approved forums, discussion groups connected websites, etc. At this time that would be all DNotes and CryptoMoms sites and individual CR.I.S.P. landing pages as well as this forum.

It may sound redundant but, people will go to the page that only requires 2 clicks before the one the requires 3. Nothing fancy, just name, brief description and the link. Use of bold and oversize fonts recommended. Also, that page will eventually rise higher in search engine ranking due to the amount of similar but individual links present. Just a thought....

That is a great idea!  It would show in one spot everything that is affiliated with DNotes and make it so much easier for anyone wanting to learn more.

Excellent! A resources and links type of page on the DNotesVault. Footer or header link to the resources? The header is a little packed and I need to make room for more guaranteed funds addresses. I think middle of the footer seems like the best place. Should we call it links and resources?

Sure, sounds good! Actually, I was envisioning a full page with the standard DNotes Vault page blank except for header and footer then add all the links in the middle. Are we on the same page? (no pun intended)  Smiley

Yep, on the same page. Smiley The link to that new page would then be in the footer.

Hi everyone;

What major issues with the existing financial system can DNotes solve?

Half of the world's population does not have banking access and is therefore excluded from participating in economic growth.

Edit - DNotes can also help address all the other issues faced by people without banking access in the following article...

That is a big one for sure. There are many initiatives to provide people everywhere in the world access to computers and internet, it will be nice if we can help the cause with DNotes.

What technologies are most important to the future and success of DNotes?

What major issues with the existing financial system can DNotes solve?

1) Micro transactions, under $1 are not feasible. The transaction fees make micro transactions unprofitable if not impossible.

What services are most important to the future and success of DNotes?

1) Direct and simple fiat to DNotes exchange.

What major obstacles does DNotes face to achieve success?

Obstacle - Combating and rising above the bad reputation bitcoin has (whether it is deserved or not).

Seems like when ever anyone is accused of something the old saying "innocent until proven guilty" is never the case. Once the accusation is out there the mentality is "if he/she is accused of it they did it".  It is unfortunate that this mentality seems to cross the lines into ALL in the industry. Positive PR is lacking across the board as well. Just look at our media, if it is a bad story or if something happened that was bad that gets the headline.  It is not the story of someone doing something wonderful.  That story gets buried deep into the broadcast or print. That is a huge problem with our media today and has been for quite some time. Just look at how Bitcoin and the likes are presented. The negative is presented rather than the positive. The headlines you see are how some scam coin ripped someone off, not that DNotes is working to make retirement, education and lives better. It is high time the positives start making the headlines! Just think what society would be like if the media stopped promoting "the bad" and started promoting "the good".

Very true, negative stories often become sensationalized to drive traffic and viewers while positive and helpful stories fall under the radar.

DNotes is going to have a very exciting few days next week.  CR.I.S.P. For Retirement press release is going out and DNotes birthday is on February 18th.  What do you think of a 3 day DNotes (forum) Drop-in or Open House that takes in both the press release and DNotes birthday?  We could encourage (polite way of saying "give a shove") every DNotes holder and anyone else from cryptocurrency to drop in and say hi.  Since retirement is on the agenda next week, anyone who wishes to could post a "Did you know" retirement fact, story, or statistic with a limit of one per post.  If they have lots of facts, they can make lots of posts over the 3 days.  Thoughts??

Excellent idea, Chase. It will indeed be an exciting week. The Press Release is scheduled for Tuesday Feb. 17, 2015. I got way ahead of the scheduled this time. We should be getting significant coverages quickly.
Perfectly timed for DNotes Birthday.

I am quite busy working on a number of other projects and will appreciate it very much if everyone can make an extra effort to help out. Thanks.

DNotes Open House February 17 & 18 - Drop in and say hi!

CR.I.S.P. For Retirement Launch - Feb 17

DNotes Birthday - Feb 18

Does anyone have any other ideas?  Should there be a link to the forum?

Great idea Chase! We can spread the word on Social media, and let our long time supporters know.

I have one for technologies... An easy to use merchant payment verification system.
The ones available today are either too complicated or third party and come with additional fees.

Another good one, thanks BoscoBlue!

Happy Birthday Dyna!

Is Smokey in the doghouse?? Wink Grin

Thanks, Chase. Smokey is a funny guy.
i HOPE You are all celebrating well and maybe next year we can all meet you in the forst DNOTES convention? DYNA'S Birthday with Dnotes peeps/  Smiley

I am kinda in the doghouse.....Dyna gets real embarrassed when folks talk him up. He is the most humble guy I know personally. I thought......hell with it. I just make sure I do not embellish the truth. Just the facts, ma'am.

Interesting note:
Dyna was part of the third-world's "poor masses". He grew up in the mountains of Malaysia, his family farmed coconuts and palm oil. No electricity. Dirt floor hut. Only thing they had with a motor on it was a WW2 British Army Jeep. Farmed with water buffalo. But....out of six kids, they all graduated high school, most (or all) went to college. All were VERY successful. Secret to the family: A VERY extraordinary mother, AND an exceptional dad. When he talks about the "poor masses", he knows what he is talking about.

Correction. Eight kids. Two girls and six boys. One time eight out of eght had their own business. One of the sisters finally gave up and decided to work for a large company. We never had a fight or a serious argument, but lots of passionate debates though.

I also come from a business-minded family, BUT at our house, the were no "quiet discussions". We were loud, proud, and as competitive as the hogs at the troth. Thier were four of us, 5 years apart youngest to oldest. (dont think my parents had TV then, nuttin else to do I guess). We played Monopoly, Risk, Poker, and every other thing that could have a winner. Second place was the first loser. Only thing that saved us from being hooligans was a dad that was as strong-willed and as smart as his children, and a mother that showed unconditional love to all her kids, all the time. Funny, Yoda......how we grew up literally a world apart, but somehow found each other, and we are gonna change the world! Rock On, Old Man!!!!!

Interesting note:
Dyna came to America in his early 20's, with hardley any money (a couple hundred bucks I think). He flew into New York in Janruary. He had never seen weather as cold as this. THEN, he flew to Chicago (New York was just a layover). It was about zero degrees there and he had lived on the equator all his life! Welcome to Winter, Old Man!

Smokey

Hey! Are you planning a tell all? If you don't hold back some, you may not sell a single copy, lol.

Lol. I just about fell out of my chair laughing.

Happy birthday DYNA. Within a year or two, your wife will be able to buy you a birthday dinner at a fancy restaurant that with DNotes she bought herself, maybe from a store.

Wouldn't that be the best birthday gift? To see your family spending the currency you helped create to buy services.

Within a year or two, his wife will be able to buy him a birthday dinner at a fancy restaurant with a fraction of one DNote.

Indeed it would! Happy birthday Dyna!
