3641  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: few questions from newbie on: January 01, 2021, 11:59:51 PM
but there is si many red flags for selling around and i cannot figure out how to do it safe.
in first place, it is not good idea to use self-moderated or locked topics because i am newbie and i cannot protect myself from trolls and competition, in other hands you highly doubt to find escrow who will help about the security of that kind of sales.
so what should i do ?

Yes, there are so many red flags for selling around and for buying around, as well. Wink
You have to understand that the bitcoin transactions are irreversible so the customers are at a disadvantage in here, unlike, for example, ebay. If you open a self-moderated topic you have protected yourself from trolls and competition but what protects the buyer?

It was an unexpected but unavoidable tragedy. Really this is their last party at the end of 2020. Also concerned about the incident.
...

I'm sure something got lost in the translation here. What do you mean it was "an unavoidable tragedy"?
Police are still investigating the incident, but the most likely cause is carbon monoxide poisoning, which can occur when carbon monoxide leaks from poorly ventilated heaters, appliances or engines in confined spaces. Such tragedies can certainly be avoided.

3644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: OKCoin suspend XRP trading and deposits (after Coinbase announcement) on: January 01, 2021, 09:58:32 PM
Not happy hearing these news, imagine if the Sec opens a law suit against Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency .. what would happen?
...

Don't compare a centralized cryptocurrency like XRP with Bitcoin. Who exactly would the SEC sue in the case against Bitcoin? There is no centralized institution or company behind Bitcoin.
It would be as if someone wants to file a lawsuit against the Internet.
3645  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitamp Bitcoin Web Wallet - Send & Receive Bitcoin Instantly! on: January 01, 2021, 09:43:58 PM
Bitamp maybe you need to think about adding 2FA two-factor authentication for creating wallets on your website.
It would greatly improve wallet security and reduce potential phishing attacks in future.

Not sure how this would work since you're not actually creating any accounts on Bitamp, but we'll pass it on to the devs. I know there are 3rd party 2FA for even within Electrum, for example. We'll certainly pass the feedback down:)

You are absolutely right, it wouldn't work at all.

The 2FA authentication method cannot be used if the wallet is accessed via a private key (or a seed phrase or keystore file). Think about it. What exactly should 2FA protect if someone already has access to your private key? Bitamp is not a custodial wallet as far as I know.

As for the second argument for "reducing potential phishing attacks," the answer is no again. The goal of a phishing attack in this case would be for thieves to obtain your private keys or seeds. If this happens and you leave your private key on a fake (phishing) website, it's basically a game over for you. Thieves have everything they need to steal your funds.
3646  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What Type/Kind of Trading Style is the Best and why on: January 01, 2021, 09:06:33 PM
Like others have already stated before me, each of these techniques has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Due to volatility and market dynamics, the scalping strategy is ideal for trading at shorter time intervals. With day trading, you are likely to use a scalping strategy several times a day. Swing trading is more common for those who don't have a lot of time to follow the market closely, while position trading is effective only with a deeper analysis and positions over longer time periods.

Most professional traders will use different combinations of these methods to maximize their profits.

3648  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: New Ledger phishing mail targets individual users on: January 01, 2021, 05:05:34 PM
Yeah, it's possible. It's called Pixel-Tracking.
The good thing about Pixel-Tracking is that you can probably prevent it from getting to your private data by going into the settings of your email client and turning of the option for showing images from the email. And if the mail ends up in your spam folder, I think clients like Hotmail and Yahoo disable the option to display external images by default. I have read about Pixel-Tracking extensions and add-ons as well, but never tested any personally.

Gmail users are also somewhat protected: Google redirects every image request via its own proxy servers (much like bitcointalk does). Tracking pixels will still know when you read their emails, but they can't sniff your location because they can't see your IP address (they see Google's IP instead).

Of course, this doesn't mean I'm in favor of Gmail in terms of privacy. Wink

3652  Economy / Reputation / Re: Did i break any rules here? Can someone help? on: January 01, 2021, 08:48:27 AM
All right this is understandable. But as a newbie rank and already there are 4 big banners of SCAM ALERT on first post how even someone would like to trade with a newbie who is already get flagged by high rank member and 1 bad trust
Is't the situation get more difficult for newbies to survive.

First of all, no sane person will believe you're a Newbie here. The Bitcointalk forum is a community. How does one approach a new community? They will certainly not start offering their products / services out of the blue the moment they register.
You are probably someone's alt account which means that:
- you have a suspicious history here and are hiding behind a newly created account,
- you have bad intentions so you don't want to risk a neg. trust on your main account.

Of course, no one can confirm this with certainty, but older members have the right to express their opinion and thus warn other members of potential threats.
If you are honest in your intentions, spend some time in this community first. Try to contribute something constructive and gain at least some reputation. Then you can start offering your services and no one will tag you.

Hello, Stalker22! This small work is Stylish-compatible. I've updated the thread on how to install it with Stylish Extension (Addon). Thank you!

Yes, I've just tried that. It seems to be working perfectly. Thank you!

I think this will be my default style for the bitcointalk forum from now on.  Wink
3656  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: New Ledger phishing mail targets individual users on: December 31, 2020, 03:37:30 PM
Is it really possible for them to know IP address when you just open email without clicking any links? Because I've never hear about such thing before. If it's really possible, then probably it's not good idea to open these emails.

Yeah, it's possible. It's called Pixel-Tracking. In addition to the IP address, they can also know when you opened the email, how many times, the operating system you use, the email client, the device, and a bunch of other things about you. The easiest way to prevent pixel tracking is to block images from being displayed in your emails, but I'm not sure if it's totally effective.

I am using Chrome in Windows if it might help.

I'm using Chrome on Windows, too, and everything works on my end.
Can you confirm that you get search results if you don't use the date filter? After that, can you share the complete url after you applied the date filter, like Csmiami did?
3658  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Statistika lokalnog foruma on: December 31, 2020, 01:13:08 PM

Grin
3659  Other / Meta / Re: Ninjastic.space - BitcoinTalk Post/Address archive + API on: December 31, 2020, 12:57:43 PM
We had some talk in our croatian local forum and one member wanted to see all members who registered in 2020 and posted in our locale forum.
Is it possible to somehow add year or date of registration for members, instead of manually looking member profiles?

I'm not sure if something like this is possible on the ninjastic.space. TryNinja only scrapes posts from bitcointalk and not user profiles so the user registration date doesn't exist in the ninjastic.space database, afaik.

Bitcointalk Extension - All In One - Available on Chrome store - Version 2.5

That user was unfortunately autobanned so that no chance to see any update for that extension. The idea and that extension are great and I will support if other members in the forum can build up another one and expand it more.

I didn't know about "Bitcointalk Extension - All In One" before. I'll have to test it first if it's still available in the Chrome store.
Since many of us already use BPIP Extension it might be a good idea to ask suchmoon to add such functionality as well.
