3641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why are you investing in Altcoins? on: September 04, 2021, 04:04:05 AM
Are the people who invest heavily in altcoin those that missed out on bitcoin maybe because of doubt or some skepticism at the time bitcoin was new and not as valued as today? Or Are the big investors in altcoin today more of those who were earlier investors in bitcoin and gained heavily from it, so are looking to gain heavily from another newcomer?

Your thoughts please? and why are you investing in Altcoins?
3642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are athletes also becoming problem gamblers? on: September 04, 2021, 02:41:58 AM
It could be true though, Michael Jordan during the height of his career are gambling and his father's death could be related to gambling as well. Even when they are playing golf with co-players and other wealthy individuals, they put bet on the line, just for the sake of "playing" aka "gambling". And of course, athletes have money to burn, so one way is going out with their friends and families on trip to the Strip and gamble.
When you do have money then you can really think off things just similar into those people who are earning average and since you know that you have tons then betting on something like your hobby against other people
would really be simply called gambling.Im much aware about MJ activity or involvement about gambling which did really make significant impact on his life.

And then we have Antonie Walker of the Boston Celtics, who blew his $100 m salary throughout his NBA career. And there was a story that he and his friends will travel to Las Vegas casinos and gamble, all on him. So when he retires, he doesn't have any money and file for bankruptcy. But now he turns into financial advisor for young and upcoming NBA rookie players.

For the case of Antonie Walker, he didn't just gamble his fortune away, reports say he had developed a very expensive taste in exotic cars, clothes etc, he liked to hang out in the big and happening places like the casino's and spend some money for show. It was a case of someone who was exposed to so much wealth without the financial capacity to manage it and soon he hit bankruptcy.

Personalities matter a lot, that is, the person you are really before the money comes and the person you become when the money is coming, will determine who you be when the money has come and it is time to manage it. Because of the way money comes in from sports, some athletes without discipline pick up some expensive habits along the way like hanging out in casino's and gambling. When they retire from sports, the lifestyle picked up doesn't retire with them, they continue to visit their favourite places and spend more money in such places like the casino's until it starts becoming a problem to them and their families finances.

So i do not believe that all athletes are prone to becoming problem gamblers, its all a matter of personality.

3643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are some individuals hostile to Bitcoin? on: September 04, 2021, 02:13:14 AM
IMO, Some individuals are hostile to bitcoin because their early predictions against it didn't go as predicted for them, and they are too proud to admit that they were wrong about it, so whenever bitcoin is brought up or mentioned around them, they show hostility.

Some of these individuals gave early predictions that bitcoin was not going to mean any good both for investment and and as a currency, some said it was going to disappear in a few years, none of which has happened yet. Because of pride to come out sometime and admit that they are wrong, they still decide to defend their failed predictions with hostility.
3644  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: [CHARTS]Yearly, Monthly & Weekly Overview Of The Unofficial Nigeria Local Board on: September 03, 2021, 04:12:29 PM
Very nice one @Igehhh, i must say i am very impressed with the depth of your research. I'm a newbie on the local board  thread, and i must say that i couldn't express my joy to have found a local board where i could express myself better in possibly pidgin and have people that can relate to it.

It has been a challenge keeping up with discussions on the thread because of the reasons mentioned by @CryptopreneurBrainboss about it becoming more congested, but i believe it is a good thing because it soon means that we will be needing a bigger space soon. Hopefully the statistics will continue to increase in favour of our request for a local board.

3646  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you have a separate phone/PC for crypto? on: September 03, 2021, 12:45:03 PM
Because I am conversant with my phone, and my phone is mostly for business, I am on my phone more often, but i do not just let every tom, dick & Harry use my phone for any purpose, as an extra measure for me and because i make use of one of the high end android devices, my cell phone permits 2 spaces, a general space where you can display all your apps and a second space accessed by a different set of codes, where you can keep your more private and crypto related applications. This spaces work almost independently, just like two phones in one, a very particularly helpful feature for me to keep my data save.
3647  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Give me some investment advice on: September 03, 2021, 02:18:17 AM
Also don't take financial advise from random people on a forum, make sure you're making educated decisions...

This is very and most important, there are many people giving unsolicited financial advice both in this forum and offline, you must be careful who you ask questions, who and what you listen to concerning trading and your financial life and the information/advice that you take concerning your financial life. Choose a mentor properly and be sure to do proper research, so your decisions in line with your mentor's is not just a blind move, but also educated as well.
3648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a new investment on: September 03, 2021, 12:50:37 AM
Do you think bitcoin is the best investment choice nowadays to earn money?

It is to the people who are aware of it, to some others who have not had any form of sensitisation, they still have investment choices that they consider best to them.

I recently told a lady i met online that i was a cryptocurrency trader and investor, she said to me point blank, that she had never heard of such an occupation, she called me a scammer, lol. We met at a business class online that cost some amount of money, for her to be in the class means she is doing pretty well for herself and maybe has what she invest in.

So to those who are aware of bitcoin and its investment benefits, bitcoin investment is the best among many other options.
3649  Other / Off-topic / Re: will we witness a blockchain based election in our life time? on: September 03, 2021, 12:29:03 AM
Well we've already seen a Blockchain marriage, there is a high probability to witness a Blockchain election soon also in the near future. Since the success of the Blockchain with bitcoin, developers have been finding ways to expand it's use because of its security record that has it as being incorruptible due to its decentralised nature.

If the people of the world really need free and fair elections, a Blockchain based voting system is the solution. And since the technology of bitcoin and Blockchain is becoming more rampant and going mainstream, there is a high possibility to be witness soon to such an election.

3650  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The joy of trading the spot market on: September 02, 2021, 02:37:28 PM

Traders have different personalities...

Very true and what works for Mr A may not necessarily work for Mr B, so people need to find and be where's most comfortable for them. Both the Spot and the Futures market are there to make traders have a choice. Definitely, there will be people with a different view of the topic of OP, -" The joy of the futures market". It's all a matter of which works for you.
3651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spain bans betting adds - no celebrities, no sport sponsorship, no daytime adds on: September 02, 2021, 04:48:29 AM
Maybe the government is finally getting concerned, since the government allowed regulated gambling in spain in such a way that taxes are being paid by betting and gambling houses and platforms to them, gambling has been a thriving business and income for the government, but on the bad side, the number of gamblers has tripled.

At the last quarter of last year 2020, there was an increase in Spain's online gambling market by 17.7%, imagine the increment this year already before this new ban.

In the article, it says " the stricter measures is aimed at limiting exposure of consumers to gambling ads". To the underaged this is also a big concern.

3652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can we do what China did to gaming with gambling? on: September 01, 2021, 04:35:47 PM

...Children really need to limit playing digital games for them to enjoy physical activities.

Childhood is a very important stage in a child's life as any habit picked up at that stage by a child can follow him throughout life, that is why it is important for there to a regulation to most activities they are involved as well.

I see no wrong in it as well, parents may have ignored that aspect of parenting and the government is helping to put it under control maybe after an analysis of the number of people i like to refer as children in adult bodies struggling to mature into someone that has control over their excesses.

If a child is not thought control to habits like video games when he is young, who is to say he will know how to keep under check his gambling activities when he has come of age, and maybe now a gambler as well?
3653  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you gamble to make money or for FUN? on: September 01, 2021, 04:19:35 PM
So what's your story... Makin Money ?? or For FUN.

In my current financial state and situation, i cannot say that i can even think of gambling seriously for the fun of it, unless of course does little gamble with friends over board or video games.

The very first experience i had of loosing a good sum to a gamble was nothing fun to me at all, i have other activities i do for fun and relaxation, gambling is definitely not one, it is strictly to earn some more money.

Maybe when i am financially stable enough to how i want, maybe then i can do a good sum gamble for fun.
3654  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What makes spot metal trading attractive? on: September 01, 2021, 04:13:35 PM
Spot metal trading has a number of other advantages, including the ability to tailor trading tactics to your risk tolerance. Agreements between the two sides are competitive, as a big majority of buyers start a price war and give the best pricing to both buyers and sellers. It's a device that's precise, clear, and well-controlled. There is no need to be concerned about illicit transactions. Buyers can anticipate standard quality because the goods are maintained and stocked in good shape. Transactions can be completed more quickly thanks to technological advancements.

Which spot metal trading are you talking about, i was a bit confused when i read OP and then the responses that have followed so far before mine, i had to do a quick research of my own?

Which "spot metal trading are you talking about?"

3655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The life span of bitcoin is till infinity on: August 30, 2021, 05:22:32 PM
...but we need to recognize that maybe at some point in the future another Satoshi appears and creates an even better coin and then people decide to adopt it instead of using bitcoin.

Even if satoshi appears and create a coin that he will claim is even better, it cannot still force people's adoption. We all witnessed and are witnessing the transition period of bitcoin where it has moved from non acceptance and skepticism to now acceptance and even adoption by some individuals and nations. Before bitcoin has gotten to this stage, it has built a really strong reputation for it self over the years. For another coin to just appear and be adopted instead of bitcoin, the coin needs to gather and have a better reputation and long standing like bitcoin.
3656  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is stop loss and how it works on: August 30, 2021, 05:00:17 PM
stop loss aims to put the brakes on your losses so that they are not excessive and not to avoid losses...

For the purpose of clarity, can someone please explain in layman's term the difference between a stop loss order and a limit order. I have read a lot about the differences online, but it is still not very clear to me. If you also make use of "limit order" please explain how you make use of it in your trading.
3657  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 30, 2021, 02:38:38 PM

The arrival of Ronaldo to Manchester United this season has made the atmosphere of the Premier League even more heated...

I very much agree, CR7 is also a great influence to the morale of players in any club that he has played in from Real Madrid to Juventus. It will come as no surprise to me if overall performance of all the players in the Manchester United team improves even more than it already has when CR7 becomes a regular member of the squad. For this reason, I still very much see Manchester United as a top contender for the title.
3658  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I start trading? on: August 30, 2021, 10:22:01 AM
To start trading, you must first learn trading. It is a good thing that you have indicated an interest because interest in a subject is an intricate part of learning it. If you have tried books and you tube videos , and didn't work for you, the friend who introduced you to if if he has sufficient knowledge should be a great help at learning the basics. If he doesn't have sufficient knowledge on the subject, you can seek out someone who does, so you don't only learn how to trade, you also learn from a bit of their experiences on the subject of trading. This is why learning from someone is more effective than learning yourself.

When learning, please ensure you give yourself enough time to be a learner so you can do well in the future trading, and maybe teach others.
3659  Economy / Speculation / Re: What make people panic sell? on: August 30, 2021, 09:08:07 AM
We saw the past from $10 to 60k is going up and up. So it sure it will reach $500k next destination.
But why the hell people panic sell now after it reach this high amount?
Do people really still think it goes to 0?

There soulnd't be any sale presure given the history that we see Bitcoin only going up in value

From another perspective, it may not just be panic sale, some people have set targets for themselves, and maybe the point at which they sold thier bitcoin is the target they have fixed for themselves. You may even be surprised that some purchased bitcoin when the prices were very low and have been hodling since. To maybe others, it is just a percentage that they have planned to sell at a point and they have gotten to it, you may never know.
3660  Other / Off-topic / Re: The WBA is reducing the number of tittle holders. on: August 30, 2021, 08:05:59 AM
...fans complained about this and even if the WBA is not happy about the move it seems the fans have forced their hand.

I don't it is just the fans who have forced their hands, the WBN since made their decision to stoprecognizing the WBA as a sanctioning body in boxing, before President Gilberto Mendoza who was vice president before he became president of the WBA, a part of the his promise to the WBN was to "eradicate unpopular regular belts". This recent development of reducing the number of title holders is in line with the fulfillment of his promise made in a bid that they can be reclassified by the WBN.

For clearer understanding, read this article from January 2021;
