Ripple is a business. Them releasing their source would be like Microsoft or any large software company releasing their code to the public which would make their product now worth a lot less because everyone could get their product for free essentially.
It's a really good business model, and they are making many people jealous for not being the first to come up with this idea You should instead be happy for them and waiting for the completion of this new toy that they are making and giving to the community! sorry a few others have....just they've been unsuccessful because labelled a scam......ripples so far more successful because of mass promotion and greed of early adopters

I fully agree. Another pain point is that people who mine for Bitcoin are likely upset that Ripple's built in currency claims to have more utility than Bitcoin but require no mining, making the miners obsolete. mining is half the fun, and its why bitcoin was/is a hit...the novelty of it for geeks, and those who got paid mostly deserved it.

holding however billion they are holding onto as a company or private individuals should be a big concern to anyone wishing to adopt. Just the opposite. I'm glad OpenCoin is holding a bunch of XRP, because if they do well then I'll do well (I own XRP as well). This aligns their interests with mine. when their software is still in Beta phase, and didn't prove ANYTHING. yes live and people are trading on a very buggy beta platform.....i'd be willing to put a small wager on a reset ledger in the coming weeks....that'll end in tears

Larson can't have it both ways. if he allows XRP's to eventually all be destroyed, the system will fail. if he changes the rules and allows more XRP's to be printed then effectively he is no better than the Fed. they are caught in a contradiction.
Not really as with a minut amount destroyed it'd take thousands of years to fail. for making pure profit they'd need to create no more, doing so would never create a greater market cap...so it'd be pointless. however holding however billion they are holding onto as a company or private individuals should be a big concern to anyone wishing to adopt.
Does Bitcoin have a bug because if someone convinces you to send your Bitcoin to their account, you lose them? If people aren't able to safely use powerful tools, then the world is not ready for either Ripple or Bitcoin.
Does ripple have a bug that allows users to get conned? thats debatable, but your bitcoin anology is weak. ripple has extremely poor implementation that allows users to be easily caught out because it fails to implement KISS procedures......systems 101.
shocked that its semi-live even in this beta stage.

hi all. I'm pretty new to bitcoin, tried anonibet cautiously and happy I did good odds and pays out when you win . also I accidentally sent a fraction of a bitcoin (by copy pasting the wrong address) to anonibet, thought I might have but never bothered them with such a small amount, yet later it showed up in my account (sorry about that guys).....so they are honest and possibly went out of their way to track it. anyway hoping for some F1 betting action this year hint cheers

bitcoin survives by people using it, when the rewards are halved for mining, many miners will lose interest.
instead of thinking of hoarding and profiteering start more using and promoting, and finding ways to decrease the barriers to entry.

Great to hear Global BTC and that's the way it should be done to make bitcoin work the way its intended. For most though now its almost pointless to mine

- (our fee is currently the lowest @ 3.75%).
If this is true then bitcoin is screwed. Whats the point in bitcoin if everyone is getting raped by fees? ALso now there is a central control; MT Gox
