what about shared hosting? People could have a domain name point to a shared hosting site, while they would have FTP access they don't ownership of the server. This would take down all the the sites for the server.

This dude aint serious? I doubt someone will give your more than $30 per domain
Said the guy with a cam4btc.com domain in his signature (...) Not my domain, but I have bought domains and this guy has a value set because of one domain sold, believe me if some one gives more than $30 they would be paying too much!

If you're worried about your ISP knowing you run Bitcoin then operate your node as a Tor hidden service.
I'm not worried. Today atleast, but when bitcoin takes off who knows what isp filtering they will use to block it. Also, i thought it wasn't currently possible to run Bitcoin thru a hidden service. But that function is coming soon, right? you guys are using the wrong terms, a hidden service is for servers, and tor is the network. If your going to run a node of bitcoind which is different from the bitcoin-qt then you would use the hidden service. If you want to connect bitcoin-qt to the network thru tor then use tor as the proxy. You can connect to the bitcoin-qt to the tor network, just beware of the DNS leak. Just in the future it will be more stable and integrated.

Remember bittorrent is a full company, bitcoin is dev for free, they have to pick and choose there battles, and I think tor fixes that problem the most optimum way, with the resources they have.

I just curious if anyone has played with it on the beta testing of Mountain Lion, just wondering if the gatekeeper will be a problem?

THIS IS WHY I WILL NOT BE REGISTERING ON YOUR SITE, I HOPE YOU CAN EXPLAIN WHY IT IS NOT IN A PASSWORD FIELD, AND ARE STORING THESE PASSWORDS IN PLAIN TEXT!!!!!! ALSO WATCHING YOUR VIDEO YOUR VERIFICATION SYSTEM IS JUST A FACEBOOK FORM COME ONNNNNNNNNN back to the drawing board.
are you high? how does setting a textbox to a "password box" indicate whether the passwords are hashed or not? It doesn't but if your careless with little things like that then how careless are you with the backend? And as that predicted he uses sha1 no salt it is careless.

My suggestion would be to go to an Apple store and just buy a copy of the latest OSX. Avoids all legal issues and you'll get an upgrade too.
That is impossible they don't sell CDs with the OS on it anymore so yea not possible

sounds good to me! Just wondering why no bcrypt?

Don't get all emotional about it, it's not like it even has SSL either so meh. Also the login page has a password field, so probably just an oversight.
come on dude, oversight? it just leads me to question how these passwords are being stored? Are they salted? Using bcrypt? Right now if I did a sql injection would it work? He probably uses mysql_* functions, not even mysqli_* and I eat my hat if he used PDO. This also leads me to be like well now he has all these security issues, how can this site be taken serious as a lending central point. I want to lend, but there are too many scammers and I was hoping a cool site would fix that I guess my wait continues. I guess I take it for granted that everyone uses a different random password on every site (thanks, LastPass!), and never trusts one without SSL. The all caps warning just struck me as emotional, although I can see how this site would effectively gather in the newbies so perhaps it was warranted. exactly I just wanted to warn the newbies.

I don't understand why each module should be able to stand alone? That makes no sense, I am going to use the chat but not the rest. Also it makes more sense to do one version that is a client version, and one that is a server. Everything is together kinda makes no sense. Also you need more comments, also you need to tell people to org.jivesoftware.smack library in the readmd. Why you using XMPP, why not just use sockets to send around the information?

bitcoinmaster and whittles, you guys should realise that testnet bitcoins are just pretend bitcoins used to test Bitcoin-related software and services without putting real money on the line. You can't send them to real Bitcoin addresses or use them in real Bitcoin transactions. (Real bitcoin addresses start with a 1, testnet addresses start with either m or n.) So how do you generate a testnet address? if you don't know how to, then you probably don't need to

Anyone know a good php library that would do this without the use of JSON-RPC calls to the bitcoind? Also I am not opposed to using one that uses OpenSSL but I rather not be depend on that.

Seriously bro if you can't figure it out you shouldn't making an alternate chain. SCAM ALERT. PONZI! Agreed you need to know what your doing before you can start a coin, if you know how to code, why don't you put your resources to helping the bitcoin-dev team

I like gentoo or linux mint, gentoo is a little too complex for a noobie but it is good, and linux mint is very lightweight and I like it for a quick boot.

I am just curious as to how much book keeping everyone else does?
For me personality since I do re-use alot of my address like a lot of people on here probably do, I have been keeping an excel spreadsheet with 5 columns. First is the Payee/payer if I do have a name. Second column is their address(es) from where the bitcoins were sent or received. Third column is like a memo and 4th is the transaction id. The last column is amount if negative I know I sent it and if positive I know I have received it.
