bitcoin is:
1. Scarce
2. Durable
3. Portable
4. Divisible
5. Impossible to counterfeit
6. Fungible ( any 1 BTC has the same value as any other )
7. Easy to keep safe ( contrary to popular belief, it easy to print out a paper wallet...)
8. Shiny ( yes the digital bits that make up a bitcoin are VERY shiny)
9. all of the above. + very shiny

Fiat is:
1. Definitely not  Scarce, ( mage inflation in the money supply is monumental )
2. Not Durable
3. NOT Portable... compare it to bitcoin, ( try sending 1 million dollars across the globe, try sending 10 cents. then try again but with bitcoin AHhhhh you starting to get it now eh )
5.  Impossible to counterfeit LMAO
6. Fungible... ya maybe...
7. Easy to keep safe? ya all it requires is huge banks, and even then....  the only reason it works is the fact the government has no problem printing (out of thin air ITS MAGIC!) as much money as they need to be solvent any time they need it, you do know what a bailout is right?
8. Shiny? Its has cocaine all over it so no... not shiny
the only thing that fiat  has going for it is that its widely accepted, for now!

3663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to steal Satoshi's stash? on: March 14, 2014, 02:20:26 PM
Can't that be achieved using Nuclear Power?

What do you think the sun is?

Out of reach maybe?
Nuclear power is within our hands....

The sun is within reach.

Apart from photovoltaics and stuff name one person that has control over the sun's energy (for the purpose).

3666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: About Trend Bitcoin recent developments and the future trend of development? on: March 14, 2014, 11:44:13 AM
I don't understand what you point is but:
Unless someone successfully cracks a private key for a wallet then BTC is in no danger in my books.

Everything else you see (exchanges, etc) it's just a pre-programmed scam.

3667  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Miner hacker attack on: March 14, 2014, 11:25:38 AM
Strange, another user said he had his Bitcoins gone when he mined maxcoin as well. Perhaps the maxcoin miner really had a wallet stealer embedded?

This is true, I too saw another member claim he had lost his BTC after mining for Maxcoin.
This could however be a malicious attack by a third party not necessarily the developers of Maxcoin.

Only way to find out is to download the Maxcoin software and view the code.

Anyone up for it?

3669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crapped myself last night - thought I had been hacked and robbed on: March 14, 2014, 11:04:49 AM
I know I will get bashed and laughed at for this but I need to ask:
What is a change address?

Sorry, I don't have much BTC due to the fact that I spend more on miners than I produce (yes I am addicted) so I don't freak out like all of you in case it is stolen.

3670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to steal Satoshi's stash? on: March 14, 2014, 10:48:40 AM
The example provided was as extreme as I could get
1) assumes 1 key per FLOP (more like 1 key per 80,000 integer ops)
2) assumes moore's law will continue for 40 years (20 if we are lucky)
3) assumes 1 super computer per human on the planet (really)

Even that would be insufficient.  Yet you still stick with a belief that 10^70 is realistic.   There are only 10^50 atoms on the planet.   Even assuming terrahertz scale processor you would need to convert the entire planet into chips and then magically process billions of operations per atom.    What is going to power this?  Where are all the organic life going to go?

Feel free to have the last (delusional) word.  I won't see it because it isn't worth my time anymore.   You can have your own opinions but you can't have your own facts.  128 bit keys are beyond brute force with classical computing.  It doesn't matter if it is today, next decade, next millennium, or using a perfect computer and all the matter and energy in our solar system.

He seems to have f*cked off now; strange!

I know this is not thread-related but D&T I fucking love you man. I have no idea how you manage to respond to people like this without losing it and each response seems to contain more damning evidence than the last... Unbelievable.

Anyway thanks, and kuroman no offense but you are the most stupid "educated person" I have encountered for a while on these forums. And welcome to ignore Wink

Guys stupid question here:
You all refer to the amount of energy required.
Can't that be achieved using Nuclear Power?

Just a stupid thought here.
No need to bash me.

"Is antminer make new product more than 180gh ?" Don't you thunk 180gh is pretty much?

Once you start mining then you quickly come to realize that it's never enough.....

Keylogger.

I have nothing else to add.

3673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Change the password if your wallet is stored online on: March 14, 2014, 09:41:01 AM
Why the fart would you upload your wallet on dropbox?

Just print a paper wallet.
Cold storage.
Something else that is more reliable.

Don't you guys ever learn?

EDIT: Let me guess, you didn't encrypt it either.
How much did you lose?

3675  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [ CLOSED ] VX-1 Miner Group Buy - Free 1 TH/s Miner Giveaway on: March 13, 2014, 07:54:50 PM
So....there IS still a way to buy these wonderful machines even though we, as forum members, have been banned from their purchase eh?
lol

For something you don't care about you seem to devote a helluva lot of time & energy on it.

Even if these guys are everything they/you say they are they are still way too unprofessional to be selling a half million dollars worth of high end electronic eq.

There is almost NO chance that they are though, which means you are either ignorant or in on it.

Your attitude cost you your rep here...nothing else.

What the fuck does a forum reputation mean? Most of the trolls on this place, mainly the ones who when you look through their post history contribute nothing of value to this forum at all. 500+ post members, and 95% of what they post is garbage and trolling, Never any useful info, Never anything productive, Nothing but digital waste, They are the kind that sit and compare facebook friends counts and post "likes" at night because beyond the virtual space, they have no social life, or no life at all. Even the other geeks, nerds, and techies want nothing to do with them in the real world. Like i give a shit about a virtual reputation. It's about as useful as Tit's on a mule.

Furthermore, a half million in hardware especially asic miners is jack shit in the scheme of things. BFL made tens of thousands of units, HashFast, BA, Cointerra. Quite a few people from this forum bought VX-1's and all had very pleasant experiences, best part about it is not a single one of them will touch this thread, or for that matter most threads on this garbage wasteland of an UN-mannaged, shit moderated, damn near useless forum.

and finally.... My attitude.. I already made it clear i could give two shits about rep, Attitude you say? i say its speaking my mind, and while i am at it FUCK every one of the rejects from society that turned what could have been a great source for information and help into one of the most notorious piece of shit forums in the bitcoin space today. Now thats attitude.

Can you please provide info and links to ONE PROPER member of these forums that got these 4U cases... sorry I mean miners?

Thanks for the video.  This however is nothing more than a Bitcoin promotional video.  Good for those purposes but this does nothing to answer the questions as to how Bitcoin solves the issues and challenges addressed in the original video you posted.  I think that it's good for people to see how the system works but why buy Bitcoin, if it doesn't solve the issues of that system?  That's the question I would ask, if you sent me the original video as an attempt to get me into Bitcoin.  This promo video would still leave me without answers.

OK, I have finished work, but to be honest I am a bit tired to gather all the info BUT...
BTC is created by miners just like GOLD, so it doesn't just appear out of nowhere,
BTC is not centralized and not one government or entity can claim that they own BTC,
BTC can not be double spent and it cannot be given with blank promises (cheques, etc).

There is much more that I want to add, but to be honest bro, right now I am so tired that I just want to browse the forums for a bit and maybe even play a game of Pilotta or Belotte for most.

Don't get me wrong, you do have a point and I MUST provide the right answers but right now I can't be bothered.

I will get to it ASAP.
I promise.
But it is not going to be tonight....

You have a very strong point.
Showing your friends this will make them understand the flaws of fiat currency, but it doesn't make any mention of BTC or how BTC does not carry those flaws.

Please allow me some time as I am at work now.
When I get home I will gather whatever useful info I can find so you can send it together with this video Smiley

Thanks, I'll be looking forward to it.

3679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Want to get your friends into Bitcoin? Show them this! on: March 13, 2014, 12:06:33 PM
I saw this and the whole series quite some time ago.  Now, I get why Bitcoin having a limit to the amount that can be created is ideal over a currency that can be printed at will.  Here's what I still don't get:

How does Bitcoin help everyone else who doesn't have Bitcoin?  How is Bitcoin supposed to replace fiat, if everyone can't get it and in order to get it, they have to buy it with fiat?
this is a problem if we ever want to move to a new currency.
Unless we all decide to donate our coins to the public for the sake of market liquidity, which will increases the rest of our coins value ALOT. But then there's the free rider problem, where some people will keep their coins instead just to get even bigger slice of wealth, and this is totally uncontrollable for such decentralized currency.

Yup...well I ask because the thread title says, "show them this" and I don't see how that makes a full case for Bitcoin, aside from avoiding fiat that can be created from thin air.  In addition to my previous questions, Bitcoin also doesn't prevent fractional reserve banking, which is our biggest problem. So, I'm just looking for resolve on this because it's the one thing in the year I've been at this, that I can't reconcile. I send this video to someone and make the case for Bitcoin how?  How do I explain how Bitcoin solves all the issues presented?  Does Bitcoin actually solve them and if so, how?

You have a very strong point.

What's the good cause of donating to you? So you can "have small amount of btc to play around with"?

At least he asked nicely.

What about Mark, did he ask anyone if it's OK to rob them?
