3661  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you enjoying the crazy Bitcoin price rise? on: May 22, 2017, 08:56:45 PM
Am I enjoying the crazy bitcoin price rise? Who doesn't like it? At this point, to see bitcoin price rise is really a good feeling because you can earn huge amount of money in that instances. You can have a good profit and you can purchase more it you want to. And by that, just hold and keep bitcoin.
It's starting to drop a little bit again, volume like we haven't seen in a while on Finex. Candles everywhere and red and green everywhere, seems like people decided it's the time to sell. Still reminding us we aren't in a bubble, which is good.
3662  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 22, 2017, 08:18:13 PM
You all should take a look at the bitfinex prices right now, they're going up and down every few seconds. Bumpy rollercoaster ride right now, but interesting to see what's happening right now. Very large volume dumps are happening but we aren't dropping too much, happy with what's happening right now. Partially because of all the support we aren't going down too much.
3663  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 22, 2017, 08:13:17 PM
who sells when segwit is a few months ahead lol
People who are impatient and don't want profit. Some guys just want that instant gratification, fortunately for us HODLers we'll all be rewarded big time when segwit comes and the rocket takes off. We're simply fueling up right now.
3664  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 22, 2017, 08:09:39 PM
Finex is back at 2200. No big deal, we've got lines of people waiting to buy the dip. Plenty of support right now so we are not likely to freefall to the low 1000s in the near future. At this point I'll take whatever I can get, anything is welcome. I bought before the 1000s anyways so there's no real loss for me even if we crash hard.
3665  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin UP = Altcoin DOWN on: May 22, 2017, 10:19:04 AM
Want to get into altcoins and shitcoins? Well, it's pretty much luck as you have to get the right coin and buy in at the right time. Most coins have already "mooned" and are not likely to go up in price further (mostly pumped by investors, so they can go up more). Other than that, it's a matter of buying the right coin at it's lowest price, which is hard to do as most shitcoins never go anywhere and you are forced to sell at a loss. Honestly, HODLing Bitcoin is easier and more fun, and also gives more long term profit.
3666  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: May 22, 2017, 12:08:50 AM
Canaan Creative sets new price 714USD for the A741 and talks about moving production to 7nm in 2018 .

Interesting.. They are the first miner manufacturer to talk about future smaller node process. No schedule news from Bitmain, yet.

https://canaan.io/2017/05/21/canaan-sets-new-pricing-for-avalonminer-741/
Code:
HONG KONG, May 21, 2017 – Hong Kong based Canaan.io announced a dramatic move in prices on it’s Avalon series of miners.
As the price of cryptocurrencies continue to escalate, our drop in pricing makes mining an attractive option again for the individual miner.
Steven Mosher, Head of Global sales, said “Going forward we expect the companies that build mining
equipment to make more regular and predictable increases in machine capability.
The next big jump in capability won’t happen until production moves to 7nm in 2018,
so it makes sense to move the prices down and open up more opportunity for individual miners.”

SMART-SPEED.
The AvalonMiner 741 delivers a hash rate that does not fall below 7.3 TH/s and can achieve rates above 8 TH/s.
This performance is the result of a unique chip design.
Unlike other ASICs that are speed sorted, the A3212, is designed to “find” its optimum speed
by dynamically increasing the internal clocks and simultaneously verifying the output.
Min Chen, Canaan Chief Technology Officer explains:
“With SMART SPEED every chip is pushed to its optimum frequency based on the real time conditions.
We dynamically monitor the hashing functions to ensure that only valid hashes are output while driving
every internal core to the maximum achievable frequency for that core”
Pricing And Availability:
The AvalonMiner 741 is now available priced at $714 on canaan.io.

Nice pricing they've got there, I'm interested to see if they're actually going to hit that date they mention in 2018. We're talking about feature sizes rivalling Intel and AMD's, which is pretty exciting. Glad to see Avalon under new management is much more competent than before, keeping the beast Bitmain under control.

I don't know how long the 866BTC sell wall has been there on Stamp at $2022 (which is $1.75 million) - but I suspect it is going to be eaten within the next several hours.  Anyone think contrarily?

I refreshed and now I see a buy wall of 422 BTC at  $2008.69...

Which one will go first... ?  I suspect the 422 will go first (maybe gonna get eaten), but?  let's see.

Finally, after several hours, we are getting a bit of chomping at the $2,022 wall.  There had already been some chomping at the $2,008.69 wall.... ..

So, let's see how long this $2,022 wall is going to last and whether it will be eaten or pulled.

As I type, about 40 coins bought in the past few minutes, bringing the total remaining coins down to 826..

Popcorn, anyone?

814 BTC left, seems that same whale is using 383 BTC buy order as a trap to pump price?

Why the whale sells if a hydrogen bomb coming?
Who knows. Whales are strange creatures, selling at the least opportune moments and making moves that don't seem to make sense. I guess you can interpret the bomb to be good and also bad, of which the latter is probably what the whale thought.
3668  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis on: May 21, 2017, 01:48:53 PM
China is nearly $100 below Western prices. Small correction could be happening right now or possibly soon, looks like most Western exchanges are just staying flat right now. Not big news but just something seemingly unnoticed.

How much would you be looking at for a single Terraminer cooler, and what model are they (assuming they're name brand, can't remember)? I need one that's not faulty or leaking for a PC build. Would also need the screws holding the cooler as well.
3670  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: May 21, 2017, 01:23:43 AM
Could be a UK thing, they are about £35/$46 for a branded one.
Yeah, we get PSUs much cheaper here in the US and they're often on nice discounts (got a 500w 80+ new for 20 once). I get a few every now and then, UK always seems to have higher pc part costs.
3671  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3+ on: May 20, 2017, 09:24:17 PM
You might want to ask Bitmain about needed documents and certifications for customs.

Also this area is for Bitcoin hardware, not litecoin.

Is there a LitecoinTalk.org?

Half Serious though I'm surprised you guys wouldn't make an exception especially for Litecoin at least I would think most forum members probably have a lot of interest especially in a Bitmain product like the one mentioned but what do I know...I'm no "HeroMember"

Cheers ;-)
Yes there is a Litecointalk.org site and this is nothing new about Bitmain developing scrypt asics.  They did so sometime in 2014-15 but it was abandoned.
Here's the link to the original L1 scrypt miner if you're interested: https://shop.bitmain.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020140830074550960Um75pnzg06E3

It would've probably ended up with a Bitmain mining Monopoly if Bitmain continued, thank goodness they didn't. They're back again with the L3s but still, good times in Scrypt land before all of this mess.
3672  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: May 20, 2017, 12:43:07 PM
Lol I meant to say PSU cost is off-putting (not outputting) compared to a normal plug.

Sure you can get cheap PSU's, but I always hear nightmare stories.
If you're not pulling too much wattage from them they'll last. I have a couple machines with cheap PSUs and they run fine 24/7. If you're too concerned you can go for a used 80+ PSU or an EVGA (20 bucks refurbished on Newegg, pretty sure it's less) and they work fine and won't be too expensive.
3673  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 20, 2017, 10:13:43 AM
The fun only starts if doubling in one week.
The bubble would pop shortly after that, the growth we are seeing right now is somewhat healthy but we all know once this bubble pops we're back to the stone ages. Just keep that in the back of your mind. I too welcome the rise but too fast and it's all over.
3674  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: May 20, 2017, 10:10:00 AM

this is a usb mini?

Yes, that is a USB mini - same connector the Gridseeds used for the 80 blades (and I believe the ORBs as well, dunno about the GBlack as I don't think that one was USB at all?)

And also the Rockminer 32GH RBOX and the BFL Jalapeno, to name a few. Very common back in the old days of mining, but they've disappeared along with those podlike miners. But no more Smiley
3675  Economy / Speculation / Re: $2,000 threshold reached on CoinMarketCap on: May 20, 2017, 10:04:55 AM
Coinmarketcap's estimates are pretty weak.  Unfortunately the Google and Coindesk rates are still hovering from $1990-1999.

So damn close... The Bitstamp price needs to smash $2000 and stay there, along with Coinbase and everyone.  Then we'll be ready for a massive leap IMO.
Hey, most people already know about it. Wait for bigger media outlets to write articles about it and we'll get another leg up. Been waiting for this moment since I joined the BTC train in late 2014 and it's finally happening!
3676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can i mine with a GEforce GTX 600 on: May 20, 2017, 01:02:56 AM
No. All Kepler cards are generally obsolete for mining anything due to their high power consumption. Especially not for Bitcoin, which has been non gpu mineable for around 3 years and counting, as ASICs were produced which rivalled the best graphics cards at mining and later superseded them by millions of times.
3677  Economy / Speculation / Re: [UPDATE] $1,800 HIT (Next goal is $1,900) on: May 20, 2017, 12:39:34 AM
We're in for a major correction that might last the whole of June. Before August the price will rise again higher.
Of course there'll be a correction, for now I'd sell a little bit when you feel like it and hold the rest. When the correction happens it'll be hard, but nobody knows when. Growth does not seem incredibly healthy and stable, but hey, any rise in price will be welcomed. Or maybe the guys talking about mass adoption were right.
3678  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: May 20, 2017, 12:35:48 AM
The cost for a decent PSU is outputting when I can just use a mains plug with barrel jack.
I'm going to assume you said the cost of a barrel jack supply is cheaper than a decent PSU, but really you can use molex or sata to pci connectors and they won't melt the cables as the miner doesn't use a whole lot of energy. Hell you can go buy a 400w PSU and some of those connectors for less than 30 bucks and it won't take a lot out of your wallet.
3679  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain releasing discounted S/T9's.... gearing up for new products? on: May 18, 2017, 10:13:22 PM
I'd say Bitmain is going to take a break from all of this bitcoin business for a while and focus on Litecoin. From the looks of it profit margins from hashnest, mining for themselves, and also selling the miners seem to be extremely high right now. ATM LTC is much more profitable than BTC, I wouldn't be surprised if they're more focused on LTC than BTC now. Plus, the whole semiconductor industry has hit a wall at 14nm for now, unless they can squeeze more power out of the current gen chips I wouldn't be looking at a huge increase in the next gen miners.
3680  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: May 18, 2017, 11:20:34 AM
Okay, show of hands. What would people rather see - a 6-pin jack for power (in addition to 2.5mm barrel), or a USB-B for signal (in addition to USB mini)?

Recall the max power on this guy is about 75 watts.

I've no clue what a USB-B is, certainly don't have anything that plugs into one.

I'm also wary about the whole concept of running 75 watts through a 2.5mm barrel - gridseed "80" blades at 40-50 watts were marginal enough - but I still have a couple of 10A 12V bricks from those days.

 6 pin should be definite.

It's the weird-shaped huge one, I only have one at my house and it was used on a DVD reader that broke a while ago(search on Google for a better idea, this is the best I can explain it). PCI seems to be the safer platform, agreed.
