3661  Economy / Economics / Re: 76% of Adults are Making Lifestyle Changes to Prepare for a Potential Recession on: October 20, 2022, 10:21:17 AM
I won't say that today is too late to change our lifestyle and start saving, but all those who didn't realize that they needed to take some of the steps from OP at least one or even two years ago are facing a very difficult challenge. Given the inflation that has realistically increased the price of many basic products by at least 20% (and much more), how will someone manage to save anything when there is not enough even for basic living expenses?

Meanwhile 42% of US citizens have less than 1000$ in their savings account. 58% have less than 5000$. -https://www.zippia.com/advice/american-savings-statistics/
They might be delaying big purchases and reducing debts but there are nowhere near being ready for potential recession.

If the data is correct, then it looks very bad for the average US resident, even though we all know that people keep some extra money under the mattress or in a bank deposit box. Besides, the US government has been very generous with those checks in the recent past, and although I'm not aware of any similar measures, that doesn't mean there won't be any again.

Not exactly. If the global economy takes a dive, crypto market's going to suffer as would any other financial market. Institutional traders won't be putting their money in assets that are volatile during a recession.

At the moment, the cryptocurrency market seems quite static, but we have seen this in the past in a certain period after each halving. Although inflation and the recession that follows have an impact on more or less all markets, if we look at the price of Bitcoin, we can say that it resists the current challenges very well.

What many have already learned is that there is a time when you should expect profit (in the short term) when it comes to Bitcoin, so they adapt their strategy accordingly. Few have the courage and money to invest in the long term, which means that they will wait for the time as close as possible to the halving or even after that.
3662  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: What to do if your Ledger key have gone in the washing machine on: October 20, 2022, 09:39:57 AM
Someone please correct me, but if any HW that is not water resistant were left in the washing machine for a long time (30+ minutes), it doesn't seem to me that there would be any help. What the OP described is a situation where you notice very quickly that you have HW in the washing machine, and if it ended up there, it would probably be in the pocket of your pants and jacket so you wouldn't notice it until the washing machine finished washing.

That's why it's always smart to check the pockets before putting anything in the washing machine, and visually check if there's anything there that shouldn't be there. I recently read an article about a cat that barely survived being washed in a washing machine and almost paid with its head for its habit of sleeping inside the washing machine.
3663  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Current Market situation btc and other coins capital moves where action on: October 20, 2022, 09:18:21 AM
Our team have successfully shorting low cap coins becouse of their Nice volatility nice to see that btc not moving but one of the binance top gainer short have Made at least 400% For each of our team members thats the power of volume and volatility.

I don't want to get into a debate about whether that information is something invented or whether you as traders were lucky and successfully detected some pump&dumps shitcoins, but talking only about profit without losses does not sound serious at all. There are always naive people who think they can get rich because someone knows more than they do, but the only ones who win in this game are those who sell trading signals.

Besides that, 2 days ago you opened a thread in which you offer your service and wrote a similar post - then why this thread?
3664  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Advise to newbies on PM offers on: October 20, 2022, 08:55:21 AM
For the past few weeks back I have received various offers through personal messages on this forum, asking me to rent out my signature, avatar, and personal text space...

In that case, you can be considered a very important person on the forum, because I personally have not received a single offer of a similar type in the past few weeks. However, every business offer should be considered, and every PM that may be suspicious can be reported to admins.

possibility of not getting paid since you are not under the management of any manager, or using an escrow.

You can be unpaid even if the offer is public, which is the case with some bounty campaigns that do not have funds in escrow. Risk always exists, and it's all about how much someone's reputation is worth, so if you agree to promote something for $20 a week, and it then turns into a scam, then it's your fault that you didn't refuse such an offer.

I'm not saying that payrate should always be the deciding factor, but I'd rather promote something I believe in for free than risk some cheap offer that could cost me my reputation at any moment.
3665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did a business proposal of paying 440 nights this Hotel for 1 BTC, October/2022 on: October 19, 2022, 02:56:54 PM
~snip~
I wouldn't spend a whole bitcoin at these lows.

Bitcoin should primarily be a currency, and the more people practice it, the better it will be for greater adaptation. In addition, the OP may have a larger number of BTC and one does not mean too much to him, and perhaps from his perspective $19k is not such a bad price if he invested in it a few dozen $ or only a few hundred $.
3666  Economy / Economics / Re: Actions against bitcoin miners would have greater consequences on: October 19, 2022, 02:36:22 PM
Anyways what do people think about this. Share your wisdom please.

There is no wisdom here, the matter is more than clear if you look at how many countries within the EU have hashrates higher than 1% - and accordingly what such a law would mean for Bitcoin globally.  If the data is correct, only Germany has more than that (about 3%), and all other countries together may have as much.

Incompetent EU bureaucrats are looking for a scapegoat for the energy crisis that they created themselves, and anyone who believes that such a ban would help bring about something positive is really living in the illusion that Bitcoin mining is something that is a threat to anyone or anything.

In addition, there are even some geniuses who admit that such a ban does not make much sense, but there are still many more who believe that the ban on Bitcoin mining in the EU means the end of Bitcoin. The ban in itself doesn't make much sense, but all other laws and regulations are going in the direction of the EU becoming less and less friendly to Bitcoin. Some laughed when I wrote in the past that the EU is not so far from China in this respect, and in the years to come we will be able to see how EU democracy works.
3667  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: This user is a scammer -> StormeriL on: October 19, 2022, 02:05:00 PM
Tip: look at the Scam Report Format and edit your post with all the relevant information. In this way, your word is against his, and even if you post credible evidence, you should know that the scam on the forum is not moderated. However, if you provide evidence, the user may receive negative feedback or a flag may be created that will serve as a warning to other forum users.

Trading with accounts that have no reputation and without escrow is a big risk, remember that for the future.
3668  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did a business proposal of paying 440 nights this Hotel for 1 BTC, October/2022 on: October 19, 2022, 01:38:08 PM
I don't know what to say, 440 days in a hotel is a bit strange for me, but obviously the OP has his own theory of the ideal vacation, in this case an extended one. In addition, it seems that he wants that event to become historic, and maybe enter the Guinness Book of Records as the longest stay in a hotel paid with Bitcoin.

Pablo Iglesias? The Spanish politician? I don't know what he has to do with bitcoin. You made me search the internet and I don't see anything.

I think that it has nothing to do with Bitcoin, but with what the OP mentioned next to his name, which is the so-called UBI (Universal Basic Income). As far as I know (and you probably know better) they, with their ideas based on ideologies, almost disappeared from the political scene after they got the chance to do something. I know how they work because we have an identical party in my country (they literally have the same name) and since they took over the capital, in a little over a year they managed to turn it into one big garbage dump.
3669  Other / Meta / Re: I want to advertise on Bitcointalk forums on: October 19, 2022, 01:12:46 PM
I am happy for you to have +4000 merit points. Have you something to say that can help this thread or you are just here for trolling. You could for example give me 100 of these merit points that are surely sitting unused in your profile !!!

Begging is not allowed on this forum, as well as posting multiple posts in a row, but instead of reading what I wrote, you want to appear smart and accuse someone of trolling? Once again, I advise you to read the forum rules before writing something stupid again...

7. No begging.
32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.
3670  Other / Meta / Re: I want to advertise on Bitcointalk forums on: October 19, 2022, 10:52:20 AM
I can not stop thinking.
You joined in 2017, a full member with 147 merits so far but you still do not know the forum does not have a marketing team/staff.

A few days ago I caught a member whose account was also created in 2017 in the most common plagiarism - so I'm not surprised that the OP is asking about some things he should know by now. He is also not familiar with the forum rules (multiple posts in a row), so it is easy to conclude that he is not someone who pays attention to details.

However, one positive thing is that he asked the question on the right board Wink
3671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Net Bitcoin ATMs growth drops globally for the first time ever on: October 19, 2022, 10:36:53 AM
@buwaytress, crypto ATMs are for some reason very popular in the US&Canada, and the rest of the world has always been quite uninterested in such devices, whether it's because people are simply not interested in starting such a business, or when they do, they quickly realize that they can't make a profit.

It's probably also a matter of the right timing, because during the bull run, the FOMO that starts really pulls everyone into the Bitcoin game, and during the bear market, Bitcoin is almost completely meaningless to most ordinary people. Therefore, for everyone who starts such a business, apart from the location and advertising, I think that the right timing is also a possible key to the profitability of the business.
3672  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 19, 2022, 10:19:00 AM
China's ban on cryptocurrencies seemed poised to wipe out the domestic industry. That's not quite how things played out. @lagerkranser talks with @Yueqi_Yang and @pingroma about the Chinese government's relationship with crypto. Source: Bloomberg Crypto

Are there still people who think China is relevant when it comes to Bitcoin + what domestic industry are you talking about? Bitcoin mining and anything related to Bitcoin or all cryptocurrencies in general is so insignificant to the total Chinese GDP that all these bans did not harm them at all.

I don't understand the Chinese government's thoughts until now because they never liked cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin, so I'm still not sure that one day China will like cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin just to take advantage of the situation or a desire that is still buried in the government's mind

Bitcoin in a country ruled by a communist party will never succeed, that should be clear to everyone - but there are many who have never felt what it means to live in communism. Unfortunately, I had the opportunity to see how it works, so I can't imagine that China in this kind of political system could ever accept something that it cannot control.
3673  Economy / Economics / Re: Agriculture HODL on: October 18, 2022, 03:47:56 PM
Personally, I used to enjoy doing labor work. I've done construction and labor work in the past. Its not a big deal.

The only thing that sucks about farming for me are mosquitos and biting insects. That's the only thing that would present a challenge if I chose to pursue a full time agriculture career. The physical work would be easy as it wouldn't be as difficult as the job I used to have.

Aren't there various repellents for all those little bloodsuckers? I know that before people used them less because of fear because they were poisonous (and now they still are), but as far as I have the opportunity to see, there are also those repellants that should be friendly to humans and the environment. I've also seen people use clothes that are designed to protect against insects while also being breathable.

I have a 50 pound bag of concrete outside. I tried to lift it with one hand. Wasn't that hard. I can carry stuff ok.

You have to think about the consequences of such actions, because all this affects the spine and possible inguinal hernias. I don't know how old you are, but in my country there is a saying that roughly says "old age will ask you where your youth was", or in other words every activity has its consequences, it's just a matter of time.

50 pounds is almost nothing, try lifting a 50 kg bag of cement Wink
3674  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: The price of your bitcoin depends on hardware wallets offered on the market. on: October 18, 2022, 03:09:45 PM
In my opinion, this topic is so pointless that I was very close to clicking on the "report to moderator" button, given that the OP is starting to write fairy tales about hardware wallets. Philosophical questions of this type are more suitable for Off topic or maybe even another board.

I know people on this forum complain mostly about Ledger (for various reasons), but I haven't noticed users complaining about Trezor in the sense that that device is as bad as the OP suggests. The experiences of others do not always have to be true, nor are they crucial in the formation of one's opinion - if that were the case, I would never invest a single cent or a single second of my time in Bitcoin.

Quote
So when you say it doesn't matter if hardware wallets are aesthetyc or not, easy to set up and use or not, buggy or not..... you don't care about bitcoin economy. And if all manufacturers act this way, then mainstream ordinary people will not use HW, will not use bitcoins, and then YOUR OWN BITCOIN will not grow in price!

Claiming that the price of Bitcoin has anything to do with whether people use hardware wallets or whether they use nice or ugly devices is one of the stupidest things I've read on this forum. I wonder if you know when the first hardware wallet was made and how Bitcoin managed to survive until then?

Not only did you not understand the advice given by some members (including me), but you decided to spam this board even more.
3675  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is crypto hot wallet that bad on: October 18, 2022, 02:15:09 PM
Sorry about this my comment, but which I found safe and secure. If you have an hardware wallet, why your coins are heavily stored on Metamask and Trustwallet? This is not recommendable at all.

I have 2 HW, but some altcoins I collected over the years I never even thought to store on them. First of all, they are not that important to me, and secondly, every altcoin and its implementation in a hardware wallet only adds some possible new attack vectors that can happen at any time in the future. What I want to say is that it is not bad for security reasons to separate Bitcoin from altcoins, so there is even a Bitcoin only firmware for a popular HW.

Some will say that for a larger amount of BTC even HW is not a good option, but for those who still want greater security, I recommend that they have a main wallet for storage protected with a passphrase, and another for altcoins and trading.
3676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What problem does Bitcoin solve? on: October 18, 2022, 02:00:58 PM
Also Bitcoin, if setup properly, cannot be confiscated.
Bitcoin basically frees a person from being controlled by a particular country's monetary policy.

The problem is that a lot of those who bought Bitcoin for one reason or another still have a completely wrong understanding of how it is safe to store it where they bought it. Not only are they at risk of being hacked through phishing, clipboard malware or exchange hacking, but at any moment their funds can be frozen for any reason.

Even if you set things up the right way (non-custodial wallet), you can still depend heavily on the central system if you can't buy anything directly for Bitcoin, or if you are a client of a bank that is not crypto-friendly. In an ideal world where Bitcoin would be accepted everywhere, we could say that we are free in the financial sense - until then, someone can find himself in a situation where he has a certain amount of Bitcoin, and literally be hungry because there is no way to exchange Bitcoin for anything.
3677  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin may drop to $15k or so but it'll definitely hit $300k+ in coming years on: October 18, 2022, 01:30:50 PM
Everyone has the right to their own opinion, but no one should take posts like this as some kind of official opinion of the forum because it comes from a Legendary member who has not written a single reason why he thinks $300k is a realistic option in such a short period of time. We know that the next halving will be sometime in the first half of 2024, and we also know that, looking at history, a big bull run followed after that - but no matter how optimistic someone is, a price increase of even x15 seems a bit unrealistic to me.

Also for those who are waiting for a new price crash, it may or may not happen - and if you buy BTC for a few hundred $, the difference in the price today and a lower price of say $15k is not that significant. I have experienced this situation several times, the first time when people were waiting for the price to drop below $1000, and the second time for it to drop below $10 000 - it never happened.

Anything under $20k is cheap (not financial advice).
3678  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 18, 2022, 01:17:46 PM
We will see proper use of bitcoin when we will have a repeat of 2008.
Demand for Gold and Bitcoin is going to sky rocket.

You overestimate the majority of people in that they have the ability to recognize an opportunity and an alternative, and this is also evidenced by the fact that we have less than 5% of people in the world who have recognized Bitcoin from 2009 to today - so I will ask the question "will anything change by the end of the decade?"

I would like to be wrong, but most people behave like remote-controlled robots, just look at the crazy measures in the pandemic and how many people followed them without any question, even though today it is shown how pointless it all was. I would say that the demand for Bitcoin will increase, but not from ordinary people, but from big players who invest the most in the time when there is blood on the streets - and that is right now.
3679  Economy / Economics / Re: Tanzania's Move to Introducing Their own Central Bank Digital Currency on: October 18, 2022, 01:05:38 PM
While this is a good move I am of the opinion that as long as it tied to the fiat it will still be affected by many external influences, inflation, taxes, Federal Reserve policy etc. Hopefully, we'd hear of the big announcement soon enough.

A good move perhaps for politicians, but what good is there in any central currency, whether digital or not? I don't understand why people are so fascinated with CBDC, which will only violate their privacy even more - to the same or even greater extent than bank cards or various payment applications do.

I thought that the people who gather around Bitcoin would understand a little better in which direction the digital central currencies of the banks are headed, but all those who in any way experience it as something positive still haven't understood why Bitcoin exists...
3680  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: About crypto? on: October 17, 2022, 04:25:09 PM
If OP improves his post quality and enters a nice signature campaign, he will in no distant time rank up to Sr member because his activity count is big already.

I think that will no longer be an option because the OP got a permanent ban for plagiarism - and according to what can be seen in BPIP, he only recently woke up and changed his password, so it is possible that the account was sold - which would explain why he ask some typical beginner questions.
