3681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Official Sexcoin Thread - New MANDATORY upgrade: KGW Timewarp attack FIX on: May 07, 2014, 11:10:33 PM

Dear Sexcoin Community

we have an important announcement to make:

The KimotoGravityWell retargeting algorithm is vulnerable to a timewarp attack.  It's effectively a 51% attack with less than 51% of hashpower.

To fix the vulnerability a new  MANADATORY Upgrade has been released. At block 643,808 the KWG fix will be activated.  It is estimated to be this Friday 14 May, noon GMT.

Here are the download links:

Windows:
http://www.sexcoinforum.org/index.php?board=14.0

Source Code:
http://www.sexcoinforum.org/index.php?board=19.0

Linux and MAC Builds will be available ASAP. Please check http://www.sexcoinforum.org for the updates.

Please upgrade ASAP and help us spread this news about the mandatory upgrade. It is important that everyone (Exchanges, Mining Pools, Payment Systems) upgrades to fight the timewarp attack.
Thank you for your help and have a nice day.

Regards,
The Sexcoin Forum Team

I don't know the ways how to reach majority of people using SXC local wallets but situation on the network is not good. 90% or more nodes my node
was connected to recently are still v6.4.5 or older ones. At least make sure Cryptsy, Poloniex and other exchanges and also pools switched on time.

In general, due to lack of interest to stay up to date and irresposibility, there will be many SXC users who will probably not switch even a year later.  Tongue
3682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TEKcoin PoS/PoW on Cryptsy! 30 days 40% interest! on: May 07, 2014, 10:55:16 PM
The next version (v1.2) will hopefully have a lot of changes to it, so it will maybe take a month or more to put together. I will release some betas along the way for testing though probably.

On the list so far:
...
- and possibly more

One thing missing from all Bitcoin-based altcoins and Bitcoin itself is ability to auto-sum values at "Transactions" tab. If for example transactions are filtered for
address BeozB4YqVWu8YyPLXiGiqVHF5NKE21gnUb I end up with many of them but no easy way to find out sum total. Same happens if user filters transactions
based on a type, date or some combination of filters.

v1.1. looks great, good job!
3683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SHA256]+[CPU] MediterraneanCoin (MED) - REUSE your ERUPTER!! on: May 07, 2014, 10:38:26 PM
Hey small I think we should be friends.......years later I will kick you square in the nuts and you will know why.

Anyone want to take over this coin? or start a new coin based on this algo?

In it's current form this coin can go until the next major problem is found with Bitcoin or Litecoin. Is MED missing something that would require dev?
3684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TEKcoin PoS/PoW on Cryptsy! 30 days 40% interest! on: May 07, 2014, 04:57:19 PM
i am poor as fuck, with only 500 TEK...  Smiley

I mined like 200 and bought like 3000 for BTC so it is not like TEK riches rained from the sky down on me.

Few issues with newest wallet on Win7 64bit:

1. Icon is too small and ends up stretched to oblivion, compare it with old TEK and some other cryptocoin wallet icons below.

https://i.imgur.com/bbyvroK.png

2. Logo inside the wallet is located too high and too far to right and that makes "Recent Transactions" box pushed too far to right, addresses cropped.

https://i.imgur.com/85yG7D4.png

3. getpeerinfo shows connected remote wallets as "subver" : "/tekcoin:1.9.1/" I asume those are all newest wallets so they should be version 1.0.1

4. Wallet window size and location are not saved between sessions.

5. PoS mined blocks still use wording "PoFMined".

6. At Debug window, "Estimated total blocks" is always behind "Current number of blocks" and it seems once it hits some value it does not change
until the next session.

Awesome feedback, this is what I like to see.  There are tons of improvements that need to be made.

1 - I already fixed this, it is committed to github. I made a stupid mistake when I made the release and accidentally put the .ico as 16x16. It is now 256x256.  The only problem I have now is that with the new release that windows must have the icon cached and doesn't replace it.  On new machines the full res icon works fine. Maybe renaming the .exe might help I am not sure.  Open for suggestions and help with this.

2 - I don't have the QT gui editor but I can see if I can hard code it to push further left.

3 - v1.0.1 is flagged that way in the client, I am guessing this might come from one of the other versions like funky with colors?  I will look into this.

4 - Not sure how to handle this, help appreciated.

5 - Already fixed this and it is already committed to github a few commits ago.

6 - I see this now and will see if I can get into the code.

1 - There are multiple ways to rebuild icon cache, check below.

http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/refresh-icon-cache-windows-7-quickly
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/49819-icon-cache-rebuild.html

4 - Some of wallets that save window size and location are Bitcoin, Maxcoin, Primecoin, Mooncoin, Datacoin, Zetacoin and Flappycoin. Some of wallets
that does not save window size and location are Tekcoin, Sexcoin, Corgicoin, Yacoin and Tagcoin. You might wanna compare source-codes and other
files on GitHub for some clues on how it is done.

Sto vise hashrate imas to bolje prodjes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AyU2MOJ_10

Grin
3687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BETA][EXCHANGE][REALTIME] CoinEX realtime exchange on: May 07, 2014, 08:31:41 AM
they still owe me 260K ZET

You kept the equivalent of $5500 worth of ZET in an online exchange?  Really!  And you are a Senior Member of BitcoinTalk since May 2013.... You're sure that you didn't have BTC at MtGox also?  ...  You haven't done a lot a reading, have you?

If not, you just got your first "free" lesson in security...  You don't even know the names, or location of operation, of the people you have "entrusted" your money with.

I have no pity for you.  You can't leave anything on any online exchanges or wallets - you should know better than anyone else: you don't own the private keys!

Problems with coins started when user attempted to withdraw them, it has nothing to do with how much you keep at exchange. If you can't withdraw
coins, you don't have them and in case of CoinEX it ended exactly like that so scam so fuck off CoinEX! But yes, some (if not most) people are dumb
and keep a lot or all their coins at exchanges or some other services including online wallets. Those people deserve to be scammed until they realise
trusting 3rd party when it comes to your money was, is and will always be a bad idea. At that point they might realise running local wallets is good for
network as well as safety of their own coins.

can someone work on a rich list?

As of yesterday, I have 7500+ TEK which are split into 6000 TEK in my local wallet and three 500+ TEK sell orders at Cryptsy, at 0.0003, 0.00035 and
0.0004 so you don't have to be afraid of me, I never ever dump coins. Placing multiple buy and sell orders is much better deal overally, it seems.
3690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: May 07, 2014, 07:07:43 AM
Is this coin circling the toilet or should I buy a lot more?

I wouldn't put too much thought in the opinions of random people on forums.  I am new to the crypto scene, but I understand that relentlessly attacking an investment to scare people out works well to lower the price so you can buy up more at a cheaper price.

Do some due diligence on your own and see how it feels to you.  Maybe keep an eye on https://coinmarketcap.com/ and the like to see if you like how it plays out over time.

When I found out someone like Karl Grey (who has amassed a 100million dollar fortune off of bitcoin and litecoin) was upping his position in Maxcoin, I started paying attention.  I, personally, would rather listen to people who have a track record of successfully investing early.

In fact, if Karl Grey farted and it kind of sounded like the name of a coin, I would put more stock in that than the banter around the web.

What most people don't understand is that it is not in an interest of some coin to have weak hands holding it. Weak hands are, as name suggests, dumb
as shit and have no clue about trading. They are also major contributors to panic sell and buy. For some coin to become good trading asset those people
must go and the easiest way to make them go is to make them dump their coins and lose money big time. Dumb as they are, most won't mess with coin
in question anymore which is perfect time to up the game to professional level.

Karl Grey got lucky with Bitcoin but he is definitely not a good trader. With amount of money he has, I would already drop MAX price to 0.00005 or less to
cause weak hands to dump all they have and then pump it up to 0.0005 or more. Collapse of resistance around 0.0002 was a perfect time, chance wasted.

Ohh and yes, when you see someone who recently got rich wearing the shits like or similar what Carl Grey wore at that Keiser show and that person thinks
putting 300M USD of anyone money into bullshit like Statue of Some Shit is good idea then you should know that person is a moron of epic proportions. To
make your investement decisions mainly based on what that or similar guys think or did, well, you are an idiot.
3691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SHA256]+[CPU] MediterraneanCoin (MED) - REUSE your ERUPTER!! on: May 07, 2014, 06:44:36 AM
I have recently started using Allcoin exchange and found them really good, I have no complains whatsoever by now. So I decided to check
if they are willing to add MED, here is the email sent to service@allcoin.com

"Subject: Please add MED - MediterraneanCoin

Hello

MED is the unique altcoin, the only one using hybrid SHA256 (Bitcoin) + Scrypt (Litecoin) algorithm also called HybridScryptHash256.
The advantage of this algoritm over classic SHA256 is in the fact miner can not add massive hashrate (and thus disrupt coin generation)
without having not just massive SHA256 ASIC but also massive CPU resources. MED requires ASIC + CPU resources to be properly
balanced else hashrate with certain ASIC will not be satisfactory. No other altcoin on the market alows that and that puts MED in unique
position. Even though MED is not hyped as much as most newer altcoins it has what most newer altcoins don't have = a lot of dedicated
miners and community members. Newer altcoins have communities that vary greatly based on current profitability of mining which means
interest can drop very low = low hashrate, potential for 51% attacks and other problems like low trade volume.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=397831.0

MED is currently traded only on AtomicTrade but some people said that exchange scammed them for coins. MED might also be soon
added to Cryptsy where it is expectable to gain high trading volume for some time.

MED does not have any stupid story behind it (like "airdrop", "for cat lovers", "to be used by small farmers" or similar bullshits) but it has
what really matters and that is security. There will be no massive hashrate attack anytime soon, if ever, and that makes MED much more
stable and secure altcoin than most others. It is altcoin for expert miners but easy to use just like any other Bitcoin-based cryptocoin."

So if you soon see MED added at https://www.allcoin.com/vote you'll know what you must do, right?

Someone is dumping a lot of sexcoins right now, and I'm buying  Shocked

It seems someone is exploiting vulnerability found with KGW to mine as much as 10 blocks per minute (instead of just 1) without mining difficulty
increasing enough to compensate for such instamining. Just check blockrate at http://sxcexplorer.com/chain/Sexcoin to see it yourself. SXC difficulty
adjusts waaaaaaaaaaaay too fucking slowly! Attacker is someone with major hashpower, at least 5 times higher hashrate than rest of miners. Mined
coins are auto-sold at Cryptsy, in bursts.

2014-05-04 18:19:43   Buy   0.00000450   50.00000000
2014-05-04 18:19:42   Buy   0.00000450   49.95694564
2014-05-04 18:19:42   Buy   0.00000450   49.90358326
2014-05-04 18:19:42   Buy   0.00000450   49.78925152
2014-05-04 18:19:42   Buy   0.00000450   49.94097598
2014-05-04 18:19:41   Buy   0.00000450   49.86142246

I saw what he is doing and decided to enter the market for around 0.25 BTC total at 0.00000450 but until difficulty retargeting is fixed to react much
faster I won't be buying any more SXC. Instead, I'll put buy orders at 0.00000100 or less and wait.

3696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: May 03, 2014, 11:39:23 AM
When syncing, Maxcoin normaly uses all CPU cores to 100% and with cooling not properly set that can cause major problems. You can use par=X
command in maxcoin.conf file to limit number of cores used to X where par=0 means all cores, par=1 means 1 core, par=2 means 2 cores and so on.
3697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: May 03, 2014, 10:51:19 AM
Despite the asinine comments, I did upgrade the wallet. Now it's synching at an acceptable rate. We'll see where it goes. Thanks to The Real Steve for being nice, and trying to be helpful Cheesy

Of course you upgraded it but you need to learn to give credit and respect to people who helped you regardless of the way they have chosen to help you.

You're right.

Proper credit. Having now upgraded, and watched the fucking thing crash again and again and AGAIN and still not be up to the current block, or even close.

Thanks. Thanks a lot. I don't know why or how this coin trades. Perhaps it requires running linux, or a cloud service, or OSX, but it is fucking BROKEN for windows. I'll not ever get the few coins I've supposedly got in the pipeline, and your welcoming attitude has made the desire fade below zero. I just made your coin more valuable, as I've destroyed the private keys.

You're welcome.

First thing to try is run client with -reindex option. If client still crashes then it is Windows fucked up somewhere, reinstall it or create virtual machine with
https://www.virtualbox.org and then fresh install Windows and client on it. If all previous steps fail then check your hardware, especially cooling system,
RAM and HDD.

MaidSafe, a P2P dropbox. "Interesting" name for the project I must admit but I can already see terabytes of child porn on HDDs of everyone stupid enough
to be involved in that shit and then a massive FBI raid that will result in not just child porn confiscated but a ton of bitcoins and possibly other cryptocoins.

Avoid MaidSafe!
