3681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What age bracket is perfect for gambling on: April 01, 2021, 10:42:29 AM
I personally think that children should never gamble no matter how much money they have. As a kid you are still in your formative stage and way more vulnerable to a possible gambling addiction than a adult who has already developed a solid character.
Of course you can't generalize it that easily because there are 16 year old teenagers out there who have way more discipline and self-control than the average adult and there are also adults of course who get addicted to gaming very easily and therefore betting money that they would desperately need for other things.
But in general i think it's a good thing that children are not allowed to gamble of course.

I find it a bit wierd in my country that you are only allowed to enter a casinos above 18 years, but on funfairs you were allowed to play lotteries and other gambling as kid already. The only difference is that you win physical prices and not money, but it is still the same. It can be very addictive aswell. My first memory gambling on one of this fairs was that I want to have some specific army figures for which you needed a lot of points. So I basically spent all my money for the fair over the weekend on this lottery stand and didn't even get enough points in the end. I wish someone would have told me a bit about gambling at such an age so I could have saved my money for some of the rides instead.
3682  Other / Meta / Re: Introducing NFTs for forum members on: April 01, 2021, 10:21:42 AM
Far better to offer yourself for too high a price than for too low. You certainly don't want to acquire a reputation for the latter. Tongue
It's not about overestimating the value of one or another NFT, but the fact that very few people have a sufficient amount of BTC. You are one of the five wealthiest, but at the same time you put up lots for auction at such a price that even you cannot afford such a price.

  • Foxpup-VIII - My offer is 5001 bitcoins

I have Foxpup-VIII, are you really offering 5001 BTC for it? Let me quickly put a sell in.
3683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beware of the Frauds , how pandemic is affecting gambling negatively on: April 01, 2021, 07:22:36 AM

What do you think ? Have you also noticed an increase in the malicious activities in the online Gambling section right now? Do you like the idea of AI tracking your every move?

I definitely have seen the increase in suspicious gambling advertising, over the last few month I have been getting more and more spam emails about crypto currencies, gambling and also sports betting. One factor like you said is definitely the hype in online gambling last year, another factor is that the crypto prices rallied so much over the last 6 months. In my opinion the higher the bitcoin and major alt coin prices the more it attractive it is for scammer to work in this area.
3684  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where are the Millennials into Bitcoin? on: April 01, 2021, 06:44:05 AM
Trying to find more millennials to do a Millennial blockchain summit later this year. i started it last year here's the link https://youtu.be/0YOm_uUzHb8

Wasn't this in September 2020, or am I missing something? 25 Views doesn't seem like a lot of people are going to join the summit.
3685  Other / Off-topic / Re: ONE WISH IN YOUR LIFE on: April 01, 2021, 06:35:16 AM
If I had one free wish today, I would try and change everybodies life immediatly. Instead of just wishing something for myself I would want the COVID 19 pandemic to stop today. It is probably the worst thing happening right now that is affecting everybody around the world. We all want our old lifes back.
3686  Other / Off-topic / Re: Laptop for gaming purposes? on: March 31, 2021, 09:07:28 PM
Almost any laptop is suitable for these games. But for many other games it is better to use a PC after all. It will be cheaper, more productive, etc.
Some people don't have the space, however I think you are correct and even if you needed a day to day laptop you could probably get both for the price of a modern day gaming laptop

I have made bad experiences with gaming Latops, they either got very hot after a few month or just broke down completely. In my opinion if you have the space better go for a desktop PC. PCs these days are fairly small and much cheaper than a gaming Laptop. If you get a Mini Tower and put the Monitor on top it takes only a little bit of space away. The wireless Mouse and Keyboard you can just store away in a cupboard after using it. Or if you want to save money you just play over your TV and don't even buy a Monitor.
3687  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you buy a new campervan? on: March 31, 2021, 03:32:46 PM

So, would you spend an extra £20,000+ doe a more modern vehicle that appears to be less reliable, and more expensive to maintain?

Honestly, this is just too expensive in my opinion. I have been on a vacation with a CamperVan maybe 3-4 times in my life, while the idea is quite nice that you are moving your home around, it just too expensive if you only use it once per year for 1-2 weeks. Good friends of mine had a Campervan in the past and used it to travel around in Africa but once it broke down, they didn't buy a new one. For them if it just cheaper to rent one. One benefit of renting a camper is that you can just fly to the country you want to travel in and then rent it locally. This could save you 1-2 days to get there and come back. Also driving long distances with a camper is not the most fun experience.
3688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling firms helping Government and people during quarantine, literally. on: March 31, 2021, 02:51:36 PM
It's not the first time we see gambling being directly related to a country's government. Lottery and sweepstakes that take a percentage of ticket sales and winnings are but a few examples. Although it is quite novel at least for me to know about how multiple gambling firms, which normally shouldn't have nothing to do with the government, actively helping them in order to benefit from one another.

I find it a good thing if companies who can afford to help, do so and help the people in need or governments in need. We are all aware that the online gambling industry had a huge boom last year due to the pandemic. For some of us gambling is nothing of interest and they will avoid it at all cost, but for the most of us here gambling is a nice way to spend some time and home and try to grow our crypto coins. Without gambling I probably would be so active anymore in the crypto community. Even though I lost quite a bit of money, I also got lucky a few times and made a profit. Seeing now that casinos also do good with their profits is a honorable thing. In the end if we all would be winning all the time, then the casinos would just go broke.
3689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fine line between market investment and sports gambling on: March 31, 2021, 10:05:55 AM
Investment and Gambling are but two sides of the same coin. Both can rake in money, and both could leave you penniless as well if you're not thinking straight. But what I believe is the biggest difference between the two is their purpose. Market Investment is made to make money initially, and Gambling, tho some may argue, is primarily there for entertainment. It's up to you to think about the worth and weigh of the two.

Totally agree!
In both cases, people should draw their own line which shouldn't be crossed. Investing constantly and just for the sake of doing so is pure gambling and the opposite.
Even in gambling, if you play smart and look for value, it could be considered an investment.

I also agree, investing and gambling is both about managing risks. You have money at hand which you want to put to use by either betting, gambling, trading or investing it. All of these things involve risk for which you are being rewarded by money from other people. You can either go long or short in investing, the same goes for sport bets. You can bet that your team wins or losses. Also in the eye of  the government these are very similar things, because you need to pay taxes on them. If you know a lot about a company you can trade their stock, if you know a lot about the sport team, you can bet on their next game.
3690  Other / Off-topic / Re: What inspires you the most? on: March 31, 2021, 09:59:56 AM
What inspires you the most?
It often happens that people lack inspiration or motivation. They have no example to emulate in order to become better.

When I was younger I was more inspired and motivated by money. Straight after university I thought money is everything and with it comes happiness. But I had to learn the hard way that family and health is much more important. So now I would say that doing something good for my family is my inspiration.
3691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Internet connectivity - Gambling wins/losses on: March 31, 2021, 09:56:21 AM
I just saw this issue last week in an poker tournament final table. The prize pool for the first was almost 2 million USD and only 3 people left when one of them had a disconnect. The prize between the first and third was almost 1 million USD and yet they didn't pause the game. The game was live streamed and it was very wierd to see that a player had only 30 seconds to reconnect and was put on time out with such large sums involved. It only was a few rounds until he came back, but still the blinds are so high at this stage and seeing the other players just raise every hand to steal blinds felt very distributing.
3692  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How long until we are all forced jabbed with the vax? on: March 31, 2021, 09:36:44 AM
I give it by 2022.

You won`t be able to travel without your covid pass.
You won`t be able to shop without your covid pass.

The governments are planning on using their military's to dish out the vaccines.
Trump said it himself.

https://youtu.be/6ot2FFc_Qq4?t=54

This is very likely, but not in 2022 in my opinion. A covid pass could come if the mutations continue. But at the current rate it will take a long time until they have vaccines for everybody. AstraZeneca vaccine was stopped again for people under 60 years of age. If they manage to get more working vaccines maybe, but I don't see it happening with 1 or 2 years, there are so many people in this world.
3693  Economy / Economics / Re: What's Next? After Bitcoin Passes The 60K Mark...... on: March 31, 2021, 09:33:25 AM
Is bitcoin for speculation only?   or it is really useful in our daily life?  just curious..  What product can we buy by using bitcoin only...   how many Merchant accepting bitcoin?   is it a huge number?   what do you think?

I don't think people use bitcoin for speculation only. Bitcoins can be very useful as form of payment around the world. Trading above 60,000 USD is just another step in the growth of bitcoin. Analyst are predicting a bitcoin price above 100,000 USD by next year. Also, I wouldn't look at bitcoin with a fixed value of x Usd. If you can get a tesla for a Bitcoin, you will eventually get two after the next few halvings.
3694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the point of so many cryptocurrencies? on: March 31, 2021, 09:21:20 AM
I believe that it is thanks to the popularity of Bitcoin that a lot of cryptocurrencies appear every year. Initially, the developers' actions were aimed at improving BTC and eliminating shortcomings. For the entire existence of the cryptocurrency market
a very large number of projects appeared and immediately disappeared, which could not even interest investors and other users of the cryptocurrency. But today, many cryptocurrencies survive due to competition with each other, and each of these cryptocurrencies has its own fans, thanks to which these cryptocurrencies do not feel bad in the market, having large trading volumes and volume capitalization. But if we consider cryptocurrency from the point of view of real benefits for society, then cryptography can be used with great success in various sectors of human life, including genetics, bionics, pharmaceuticals, genetic engineering, as well as in space and nuclear industries. Based on this, I am sure that we will observe the emergence of new projects and, accordingly, new cryptocurrencies for a very long time, but only the most popular and promising ones will survive.

I agree, the popularity of alt coins and crypto coins in general is dependent on bitcoins. Without the huge success in bitcoins we would see much less investors in the crypto world. But how many different crypto coins are going to be enough? There is a lot of competition already between different coins. And for companies who accept crypto coins for payment it is getting harder to decide which coins to include. Should doge or lite coin be included? Or is ETH and bitcoin cash enough? The more coins there are the harder it is to unify the market.
3695  Other / Off-topic / Re: Under what circumstances do girls wear makeup? on: March 31, 2021, 09:15:09 AM
I found that walking on campus, some girls wear makeup, and some girls don’t wear makeup. But almost every girl in the mall wears makeup. So under what circumstances do girls put on makeup?

This depends on the girl, if she is comfortable or not in her own skin without make-up
I remember my ex girlfriend wouldn't leave the house without make-up. This can be really annoying if you have to wait always.
3696  Economy / Economics / Re: How the rich get richer and why it works on: March 31, 2021, 07:10:21 AM

Now, you need the votes. If you are in the 10% of the richest you have a problem: You have something that everyone else would like to take from you. They cannot do this directly because the right to private property / ownership is normally granted and enforced. However, in a democracy, you run the very serious risk of people asking for laws that would force you to distribute wealth. This is the outline strategy on how the rich prevent that from happening:

I don't think that distribution of wealth is a likely scenario in western countries. The problem ist that most rich people have their wealth invested in companies all around the world, so taking away ownership of a company or acquiring the company by the government wouldn't work well for a country. All the big companies would instantly switch their headquarters out of the country if there such a high political risk involved. The same goes for the rich families. You could just give back your citizenship and immigrate to Switzerland, or another Tax / Rich friendly country. Or even better, you just buy a super yacht and start living in international waters. Nationalising industries and wealth of rich people is a very dangerous idea that could ruin the whole economy.
3697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there sportsbooks that offer flipped odds? on: March 31, 2021, 06:47:24 AM

In practice it would work like this.

$100 bet on Holly Holm as a 10 to 1 underdog would payout $1,000.
$100 bet on Ronda rousey as a 3 to 1 underdog would payout $300.

This type of gambling is profitable to gamblers no matter which sides wins, which is why it is not common.

But wouldn't the bookmakers go broke like that? I always keep an eye on such bets when placing soccer bets and I never found such a no risk - free profit bet. It might be the case that I am online betting on the big sportsbook website and we need to look at smaller bookmakers. Still, I don't think a bookmaker could survive for long if he would offer such bets. I always thought that the quotes are affected by supply and demand from the bookmaker. Also, wouldn't it be better to make 2 bets with the exact same payout? So you would pay $20 to win $200 and then pay $66 on the other bet to win also $200. With less than $100 you would win free $200.
3698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The realities of modern casinos on: March 31, 2021, 06:40:41 AM
Hello! Why in modern casinos everyone loses and all casinos grow so quickly, including all of them, depending on online, their bankroll is growing and they are ready to accept investments in their projects?! I have been in online gambling for about 15 years, if anything. I sit on many casino forums, almost everyone and always lose everything, even at a distance, which is logical. But there are lucky ones who are lucky enough to hit the jackpot or successfully place a high bet and catch a large multiplier. Maybe a modern casino uses the maximum psychology in its favor with promotions and conditions? What do you think, is it worth starting to play at an online casino at all, or is it better to invest this money in something worthwhile? Let's not let newbies go from first win to psychologist - how to stop gambling and lose everything! Let's talk about a rather difficult moment to play in a casino or not?

I think the growth of online casinos is due to the corona pandemic. In my country all physical casinos are closed for a year already, so all the usual gamblers who were going to casinos once a week now need to gamble online if they still want to gamble. Also, a lot of people have more spare time at hand because all the sport and culuture activities are canceled aswell. I would assume that casinos got a lot of new customers over the last 12 months with a lot of new capital.

The second point I would make is that people tend to tell more about their losses than their winnings. For example, I remember better the occasions where I lost than the once were I won. The same goes probably for the internet aswell, people tend to share more their losing stories than their winning stories. I don't think everybody is losing while gambling.
3699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Gambling company that did hit the jackpot during the pandemic. on: March 30, 2021, 03:43:57 PM

That does mean that overall pandemic did make the gambling restrictions more loose even for the countries where it's quite a havoc. Gamblers are able to make the bets more openly and at the same time both Government and the gambling companies are benefiting from the pandemic.

I do think this presents a strong case of how it should also continue the same in the future. People can have much more options and at the same time regulations are already there.

What do you think ?
Will the government think twice before keeping the gambling market the same or will they revert back when everything is normal.

I think the pandemic did good for all the online casinos and bookmakers. All the business which was usually down in physical casinos or betting parlors switched now to the online industry. People have more time at home and are bored, gambling is a great way to escape the boredom of the corona lockdown.

The governments probably relaxed rules on everything not healthcare related during the pandemic, there is a lot of things to do like supervising the Test Centers, Vaccinations, etc. On top of that the governments created Corona Relief Funds to give money to the people in need. So to focus on the pandemic I think the government turned a blind eye to everything else. And once the governments needs more money, they might start changing the online gambling market to create more tax returns.
3700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trading Or Invest ? on: March 30, 2021, 03:31:36 PM

Experience is needed in both trading and investing. In order to trade, you need to have a good idea about the market, for this you will need the ability to do market analysis. Taking profits from the live market is not an easy task unless you have enough trading experience.

And when it comes to investing, if you don't have the ability to do research on a project, you could face huge losses. Experience is also very important about the behavior of that market to make any investment.

This is a good summary, I would recommend any new player in the crypto world to start out with investing. Doing your own research and invest into a crypto coin long term is a good way to start out. If you jump straight away into trading, you need a lot of information and patience to be profitable. Trading is a very time sensitive subject, it all depends if you can buy and sell at the right time. If you get the timings wrong with trading you can leave a lot of money on the table or even make a loss. In my opinion, investing is just more forgiving.
