8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you increasing your bitcoin investments because of today halving ? on: April 23, 2024, 06:53:08 AM
Are you increasing your bitcoin investments because of today halving ? For how long do you plan to hold this new investment from here on.

Not really, looking at the current Bitcoin price we are still on the similar levels as a few weeks ago. As long as the price is moving around the 60-70,000k levels I wouldn't change much to my investment strategies. In general, I try not to be affected too much by price changes and keep following my DCA method instead. But when reaching new ATHs it becomes harder not to constantly check prices and trying to adapt my investment strategy. The DCA method has been my best approach to acquiring bitcoins over the years. Assuming that Bitcoin is still going to grow the same it has the last few years, then buying new coins today is fine. But should we be really changing our strategy completely? There is no guarantee that BTC is going to reach another ATH, it could also be that there is another big crisis in the world and price fall again. Which makes DCA so attractive, we are not putting all our money into one single purchase. I am in the crypto world for the long run and so will be my Bitcoin allocation. It also helps with setting aside a fixed monthly amount from my salary for saving/crypto purchases and gambling. Like that I can make a purchase every few weeks and don't have to worry too much about prices moving against me.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streaming community are getting worst!!! on: April 22, 2024, 06:50:48 AM
Have you notice? In the streaming community, the influence of gambling is getting worse. Have you noticed that many streamers have started to stream gambling and promote it? Sad, but it's the reality. I'm noticing that the streamers I'd used to watch because of their gaming contents and also streams that they do while gaming are fading; they are focusing on and promoting gambling platforms, and the alarming thing is that those streamers used to have young viewers who also played the games they were streaming, and suddenly they left it all out and changed what they streamed, which was gambling.

I don't blame them, but the thing is, they sell their dignity in order to promote gambling, maybe because the offer is too good for them to refuse, but the concept of them abandoning their dignity and ignoring the fact that they could have a bad influence on their viewers, even if they put a warning about being responsible in gambling, the thing is, people or viewers will for sure be attracted if they see the streamers getting or winning too much money. And the theory is that, what if the money or account they are using is not their money or account? Is it an account from the gambling platform that they let the streamers use in order to promote the platform? I can't ignore the fact that a theory might be possible. Anyway, what do you think? or can you say about this streamer transitioning to streamers whose content is gambling? Feel free to share your insights.

To me this doesn't seem so new at all. I still remember the first hype of the online gambling industry a few years back. There were tons of streamers transitioning from traditional games to casino games and taken their audience with them. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion, because everybody can decide from themselves which streamers they want to watch and which games they want to follow. It seems a lot that streamers are just going with the games that offer them a big viewership and also good deals with the producers/owners of the games. When casinos are willing to run special promotions for streamers than it's fine for them to take advantage of it. The traditional gaming industry has done the same and we can see a lot of streamers showing gameplay of new games in the days before they are released. These are obviously marketing deals and the streamers are getting paid for it, I wouldn't call it selling their dignity, it's just a job. Also many games these days have lootboxes that involve gambling as well. For me there is no real difference between watching a streamer opening tons of lootboxes and trying to get the best possible skin, and another streamer playing casino games. If you don't like the content it's fine to watch another streamer.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Neymar being addicted to online poker on: April 21, 2024, 06:47:37 AM
This to me goes to show that no one is immune from addiction. Neymar may have largeley solved his money problems but still he doesn't seem to be able to control his time spend gambling. Therefore he's seen utilizing his time very recklessly, prioritizing playing the right cards over living these once in a lifetime precious moments the best he can. And if a multimillionaire can get addicted in this way, anyone can. Consider this before spending too much of your precious time gambling. Put some limits and enjoy responsibly!

I agree with you that this looks really strange, playing poker during the birthday party of your daughter. He is a famous person so there is much more attention to everything he does than for the average person. When I look at my family birthday parties it's quite common to see at least somebody on the phone, even though we are not gambling at the time. At least he is only gambling online and not skipping his daughter's birthday by visiting a physical casino. From what I heard is that Neymar is trying to go professional in poker after his football career. He is already rich and famous, so going into poker for that doesn't seem like the motivation, he probably is really interested in the game itself. It's hard to say that he is really addicted to gambling by one video alone. If this happens on a regular basis than I would agree, but here there could be also other reasons. For example, I don't know if he is playing a cash or a tournament on his phone. When it comes to poker tournaments they can last a pretty long time. With a cash game he could just stop playing and continue after the birthday party without any problems. But maybe he started a tournament a couple of hours earlier and didn't expect to go so deep. Once you get close to the bubble, poker tournaments become really slow as the majority of players will only play the best possible hands. I have been in the situation where I thought I would only play poker for 1-2 hours, only to end up playing for 5 hours as I managed to almost win the tournament.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Isn't Altcoin a distraction to Bitcoin adoption? on: April 21, 2024, 06:27:25 AM
This begs the question, what if we had only Bitcoin? Wouldn't the level of adoption outgrow what it currently is at the moment?

Do you think that altcoin is a major distraction to bitcoins adoption?

I don't see the large number of crypto currencies as a direct competition to Bitcoins, because the Bitcoin market is already so huge with so much money invested in it. It's fine if investors are looking for different projects that are based on different protocols. This is part of the financial evolution of the crypto world, the more money is attracted the more opportunities there will be to invest it. It's similar to the stock market, there aren't only the big blue-chip companies we can invest it, also a large number of small and medium sized companies are traded at the stock market that investors can profit from. And here we don't hear either that the big companies complain investors are going for the smaller companies. Having a large number of potential investment candidates makes the market seem more attractive. In the end everybody can decide for himself where he want to put his money. The only issue is if people are investing in a new alt coin project and think that it's going to be next Bitcoins. The chances that Bitcoin is overtaken by another project as the leading crypto currency anytime soon is not very realistic. If there was only Bitcoin, then of course more people would be using it. But having no alternative feels a bit forced into something and it's better when people are choosing freely Bitcoin over another coin.
12  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin’s bull run coming to an end? on: April 20, 2024, 02:52:22 PM
The price fell by 3.78% today,Current price $61748.But it’s still a price I can’t afford

No I don't think the Bitcoin party is over now. Prices have been fluctuating a lot in the last few weeks, but as long as the price is above 50,000 USD I wouldn't worry so much about it. From your short sentence I assume that you want to buy more bitcoins at a lower price than we have now. Like you there are tons of other investors that would be buying happily if prices drop again, which means that a considerable down turn in bitcoin price doesn't seem likely at the moment. On top of that are many governments considering to cut interest rates again as inflation is falling. Which leads to investors to looking for more risky assets as new investment. With stocks being at ATH as well there aren't many alternatives to bitcoins. I wouldn't sell my coins right now.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How does the game of luck in gambling really works? on: April 20, 2024, 06:28:06 AM

I don't really believe this dude because such grace has not even worked for me although some of my physical trader friends sometimes says they have more customers anytime I comes around their trading centres and they love having me around.

Does this really happen a reality or it is just some sorts of mental reasoning fellas?

That is a crazy story, with your friend winning so much money in a few minutes while you are at his house. I am wondering now if he always gambles in such lagre amounts or if this was really something special that night. Obviously the casino had no idea you were in his house and would therefore let him win at gambling. First of all there is a difference between correlation and causation. Maybe your friends thinks you are his lucky charm and is only willing to gamble large and take more risk because you are around. Taking higher risk also means that you have a chance to get really high returns. It's nice that your friend treats you well with his winnings, I am doing the same when playing scratch cards with my best friend. We also go to the same place and each buy 2-5 scratch cards. After winning more than 50 Euros on my 2 Euro ticket, it's only fair to invite him for dinner. Personally I wouldn't believe in one person bringing me a lot of luck and betting all my money on it. This could easily be tested with your friend inviting you over again a few more times.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investing in a casino's bankroll...Still worth it in 2024? on: April 19, 2024, 01:43:52 PM
I remember the days when online crypto gambling sites offered us the option to invest directly into their bankroll (like the one in my sig). Nowadays, it's hard to find one that does. The only I've found is Bitvest. But activity on the site is quite low compared to its rivals.

I was wondering if it's still worth investing in an online casino's bankroll? If it is, could you share where can I invest my BTC? Any suggestions and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

I am not so familiar with investing into the online casino sector. When we give money into the casino bankroll, does this mean we are actually buying a part of the casino or is it just a loan with a fixed interest rate? Purchasing equity stakes of casinos seems like a great investment, because we are going to profit from all the future returns the casino makes. As for giving loans to the casino I am a bit more sceptical. Interest rates are quite high at the moment and we can make almost risk free returns when buying high rated corporate debt. I would probably look at the bond markets first and see how much money I can make with almost no risk. The only problem is I would need to sell my bitcoin and buy bonds in USD or Euros.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling: Modern entertainment or highly addictive game? on: April 18, 2024, 02:36:55 PM

Besides, online gambling games do not require one person to observe the other, so they become very simple. Players seem to be absorbed in the virtual world and forget about the people around them, the games continue one after another, so they are more likely to become addicted to games on the screen. What is online gambling in your personal opinion? Are your feelings different from when you play traditional gambling? Does it affect your gambling habits when you play online? Please share your experiences here.

I don't think that things are so bad with online gambling and the majority of gamblers is not becoming addicted to online gambling. While online gambling might be a new form of entertainment for many people, the whole concept of virtual entertainment is not new at all. Ever since the rise of the internet so has the gaming industry and is developing new blockbuster games every year. Among my friends everybody has spent some time as a teenager gaming on their PC or console. So, sitting alone in your room and looking at the screen is nothing new. None of my friends became addicted to gaming and are also now not addicted to gambling. The only new thing is that now is real money involved in the games.
16  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you feel that the global economy is declining? on: April 18, 2024, 01:57:26 PM
One of my colleagues told me that his salary is lower now than it was five years ago. Sadly, the price of goods is rising.

How is this possible, does this include bonus payments or only his fixed salary? Which would mean that he agreed for his salary to be lowered, or he could ask for the full pay based on his contract. I think it's a bit misleading to compare current salary to the pre covid levels. Especially with bonus and Christmas payments there was more money being paid out. As for the global economy I think the world is doing fine. Stocks as an indicator or future corporate earnings are near ATHs. Some countries are expected to lower their interest rates again later this year which should give another boost to the economy. With the Ukraine war still ongoing and no end in sight and also a possible Iran Israel war looming the world is going well at the moment.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now that Bitcoin is no longer digital cash? on: April 17, 2024, 02:13:13 PM
I ask this question because I wonder what Bitcoin will become now that the financial institutions and meme coin advocates have taken over.

If Bitcoin is not peer-to-peer electronic cash then how do you see it?

I don't understand, why is bitcoin not cash anymore? As far as I know you can still trade bitcoin into a large number of fiat and crypto coins, which means it's still cash. Just because a large number of institutional investors are using now bitcoin as a form of investment doesn't mean it's not digital cash anymore. Just look at Switzerland for example a very small country with a powerful currency. There are so many traders and investors that hold CHF as investment and would never use it as cash. Still nobody would argue that the Swiss franc is not cash anymore. Bitcoin can be cash, asset and investment at the same time.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel excited while gambling on: April 17, 2024, 06:38:34 AM
From my little activeness over here in the forum and my involvement in gambling I have been seeing some changes in me and it's gradually beginning not to please me anymore I don't know If I will say I am becoming too emotional with my funds but sometimes it's very painful to place a bet for about 2 to 5 consecutive times no winning and this is what is beginning to me make feels sad. I know is a game of luck but sometimes whatever we do and not feels happy we should try to quit it.

I just have to bring this to know the category of people who belong to this sets that always feels bad or are emotionally touched due to their games has been constantly bursting without winning. I don't know how to channel it but at least gambler should be happy most times i will noticed that only 1 games do take me away from winning and most times there will be option to cash out I will have the full confident that all will be successfully played without knowing games change even at dying minutes.

Being emotionally affected by gambling is a normal occurrence to a certain extent. The question is how long are those feelings lasting and affecting us and is it going to have an impact in our normal life. A big win in gambling is bringing joy and a big loss is going to make us sad. If we can remind us that this is part of the game and we are always going to experience them it might be less hurtful. Also, I would try to look at things in the bigger picture, a losing streak today might come after a winning streak last week. What I noticed for myself is that over the years I get less excited in general. This is not really something limited to gambling, but in everyday life as well I tend to feel less excited about things that brought me a lot of joy when I was younger. Maybe this is part of getting older and we have experienced so many different things already that our brain numbed down a bit. Or maybe my rational thoughts finally managed to keep my emotions in check. Taking a break from gambling when feeling sad or miserable is a good idea.
19  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Rise of eSports Betting on: April 17, 2024, 06:15:54 AM

eSports broadcast outlets are expanding
It’s becoming easier and easier to check out eSports matches. Twitch and YouTube both show esports matches live. Organizations like Riot Games, which runs League of Legends and Valorant, broadcasts matches on Twitch.TV.

The Call of Duty League, EA’s hope to replace the now defunct Overwatch League, broadcasts on both Twitch.TV and YouTube Gaming. The COD League has quickly become North America’s favorite league.

The Call of Duty League 2024 Championships begin this summer on June 11. Make sure to mark your calendars as EA is all in on the highest grossing video game of all time.

I had no idea that Call of Duty had a huge betting market as well. Somehow for me the the top games always have been Dota and Counterstrike 2. It's probably due to the fact that both of the games I have played a lot too myself. Also the price pools in these games are massive. If you can win more than 100,000 USD in a game then there will always be a lot of teams training for those tournaments and the higher the number of participants the higher the number people of willing to bet on those matches. Another factor is that all the teenagers that played the games 5 years ago are now starting to work and have much more money at hand to actually bet on those matches. I probably would never bet money on a COD match, because I have no experience with the franchise and don't know which team is strong or not. My rule for both esports and normal sports betting is that I know the league before I put any money down. I try to bet only on games where I feel that I have an advantage and it doesn't really matter if it's virtual, online or physical sports.
