https://talksport.com/sport/tennis/956469/emma-raducanu-news-tim-henman-indian-wells-coach/

After reading this article its clear that Raducanu doesnt actually have a full time
coach in place for Indian Wells, does anyone else find that bizzare?

Parting ways with your coach who helps you win the U.S Open bringing you to a
#1 UK ranking and not have someone to take his place.

From the article Henman is suggesting Raducanu will be making serious considerations
as to her coaching later in the year, sounds like he thinks Indian Wells is just for a bit of
practice and making an appearance....

Anyway the eyes of the tennis world will be on her, hooefully she can deal
with that and ignore it on the court.
3682  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Basics things to note before venturing into crypto on: October 05, 2021, 06:40:02 AM
Seems like the OP is talking primarily about "trading".

So many newbies think that because crypto is decentralised they have access
to this ever generating wealth machine, but it isnt that easy. Trading is just one aspect
of Crypto.

I was expecting the basic things to note before venturing into crypto to be:

1. Stay away from every $hitcoin and focus on Bitcoin

2. Understand how Bitcoin works

3. Take ownership and secure your Bitcoin after buying

4. Hodl until you are knowledgeable about trading, or just Hodl
3683  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pandora papers <== They said Bitcoin was used to avoid taxes! Think again on: October 04, 2021, 10:27:53 PM
These are the people who are making the rules and also breaking the rules...... So this is a big "fuck you" to them....  Wink

It is something that has existed for thousands of years, those at the top have always used their position and power, only the methods have changed - from the dark basements of castles to closed mines, to secret accounts in tax havens. They just continue the tradition of their ancestors, and no matter all the Pandora’s boxes that open with their dirty secrets, rest assured that they are still doing it and no one can do anything to them. Yet what is the greatest tragedy in the whole story is the fact that they were all elected in a fair election, and some will be elected again - if not directly, then their successors.

Bitcoin is a small baby compared to a financial system that is broken to the core, but the most powerful 10% of people in the world will do their best to save it.

Its quite disgusting really, to think that those wealthy people can afford to pay their
dues and taxes also have the knowledge, avenues and help to evade them. The general
public dont get to be part of that corrupt, privaledged system of hoarding wealth.

Bitcoin is a small baby but it offers an alternative to that broken system, unfortunately
those corrupt people have access to it too.

These Pandora papers are all over the news, whats going to happen? what are the
consequences going to be? and yea I would imagine this is only one of many pandoras
boxes.

We got to hand it to the investigative journalists involved in uncovering this, very intriguing.

TBH im not put out that Djokovic is missing from IW, I want to see the new players
getting their chances. Whats more interesting is who is in, I.E Raducanu, Fernandez and Medvedev.

agree, he is out, but it counts who is in, to see what they can do
Djokovic will stay on no.1 nevertheless, and he does not need this tournament, and probably he is already tired, he will play more/less GS's next season IMO, other tournament as much he need to keep no.1 on the list, if everything goes well
will be interesting to see who will win it, but I doubt that Medvedev will be the one

Yea there has been an extended discussion about the loints difference between
Djokovic and Medvedev for the #1 spot, 2000 points foe Medvedev to make up.

Anyway yes It matters who is in, and we can keep an eye on Medvedev, Rublev, Ruud,
Zverev, Tsitsipas, Sinner, Swartzman, FAA.

It is bad for the tournament that Djokovic pulls out but good for the rest of the field. Why do you think that Medvedev will not win it? I am tempted to place a (small) bet on him as he has the momentum with winning the US Open.

We have seen too many times where a player wins a tournament and  then in
the following tournament gets knocked out early but Medvedev has had a break
after winning the US open so should be rested, trained and focussed.
3685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: October 04, 2021, 06:31:52 AM
@aoluain - Yeah, it was a big win by Sinner, at least we still see him win another tournament as he is slowly building up his confidence and experience. No doubt that he will win against Monfils in the finals, the kid is definitely improving a lot.

In the San Diego Open, Ruud winner in two sets, he just destroys Norrie, 6-2, 6-0, cover the handicap and even the under if you think that Ruud will win in two sets. Still good to see Norrie played very well in this tournament except the finals, maybe he was too drain in the Rublev match.

Yes I guess Norrie's final was against Rublev. He would have left a lot out on the court
by beating him. Ruud's win over him looks very flattering 6-0, 6-2. Ruud is a quality player,
ranked #10 and winning 5 out of 5 finals this year, thats impressive.

''World number two Aryna Sabalenka has been ruled out of the Indian Wells Masters after testing positive for Covid-19.''
It's too bad for Sabalenka because she was the first favorite to win this tournament.
Sabalenka said that she is feeling well for now and that she is very sorry that she can't perform in the tournament.
''Britain's US Open champion Emma Raducanu has been given a wildcard into the main draw of the WTA 1000 event.''
Will Raducanu with the new coach and under the burden of high expectations after winning the GS title continue with good games and victories?
''Men's world number one Novak Djokovic, 2018 champion Naomi Osaka and 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams are among others also not competing in the event.''
If Djokovic no longer plays by the end of the year, he could lose first place in the tennis rankings and a chance for a new record.
What do you think?
Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/58778566

It's very unfortunate for Sabalenka. This covid-19 has affected many lives and also the sports, Sabalenka is not indifferent over here. I was pretty sure that she would definitely make the finals in this tournament but maybe not anymore. And Raducanu is a young prodigy. She has got a new and experienced coach and I hope this new coach will help her get to new heights and achieve more in this tournament. Djokovic not playing in this one is very saddening. Does anyone know why exactly he won't play? He is no. 1 right now, but not playing till the end of the year might cost him the position. Medvedev is only 2 thousand points behind him.

Djokovic pulling out of the Indian Wells is a big blow to the tournament as they are disappointed to hear that he is skipping for this year. He didn't give any reason, but I will speculate that he just wanted to take a rest, after losing to Medvedev in the US Open. And I think he can still maintain his number 1 ranking at the end of the year.

Fun Fact: And this is the first time since 2000 that we won't see any big 3 in Indian Wells.

TBH im not put out that Djokovic is missing from IW, I want to see the new players
getting their chances. Whats more interesting is who is in, I.E Raducanu, Fernandez and Medvedev.

Yea I remember you saying something about Way e Bennett before alright.

All my bets on the United Championship payed off over the weekend and Leinster beat
The Dragons in a very low scoring high error game, final score Dragons 6 - 7 Leinster.
Because of that game Leinster move to 3rd on the table overtaken by Munster and Ulster
on a better points difference  Early days though.

Its really important to realise that exchanges are for exchanging FIAT/Crypto, not for
long term storage of either.

Dont use gmail and change up your passwords regularly, dont have google conveniently
remember your passwords for you, these should be a very minimum. The trouble here seems
to be the SMS verification functionality.

The trouble with KYC and AML is obviously we trust exchanges with our personal
information.

Very informative thread and info from DaveF, NeuroticFish and o_e_l_e_o
3688  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Gauging Interest] Teak Slab - Bitcoin / Litecoin on: October 03, 2021, 07:01:28 PM
I did a test run last weekend at carving the Bitcoin symbol into a piece,
~Snipped~
the result is from a quick enough job
Since you're using your hands to carve on it, I'm curious to see/know how much better/cleaner it could get if you try to improve it?
Just to be clear, I don't expect to see a similar result to what a CNC machine could achieve.

No CNC. I'm confident I can get a cleaner result taking my time, the biggest issue
is that the pieces are small so
the task of marking out a design is tricky let alone carving.

So I am gauging some interest in the concept of some carved Teak products with
very low quantities.
Personally, I love the idea but not the designs [an original one would be a lot better] and the end result so far [sorry if I'm a bit too harsh].

Thanks, constructive criticism is always welcome. As above because of the sizes
of the blocks I'm limited as to what I can acheive from both skill and technicalities.

I wanted these to be simple designs without too much fine detail. The date idea is
now abandoned after te first attempt over the weekend. drilling holes by hand even
over a template is not happening.

Any ideas as to what you would like to see?

Congratulations to The Penrith Panthers in the NRL final and congratulations to us
too @Timelord2067 our long term bets materialised.

Very close match from the get-go and it came down to very fine margins of missing
a kick at goal.

As one of the commentators on the radio station I was listening to said "they will be
rocking and rolling in the Blue mountains tonight"

^^ Yeah, no one expected that Shapovalov will lost to Norrie in this tournament. Seems that Norrie is really on form this year as he recorded a lot of wins against top 20 opponents, really surprising how he outclassed Dennis in just 2 sets here.

He will be facing Rublev, not sure if he can continue to show his form against Rublev, maybe 3 sets again for Rublev? over 21.5?
Seems like norrie is really at top form he defeated rublev yesterday 2 1 and he was a set behind i did not expect that since rublev was doing really good recently and he will be facing casper ruud who defeated dimitrov 2 1 too and he is really difficult to beat i think we will se another 3 set match.

Right, surprising defeat, but Norrie has been playing very good in this tournaments, so he made it to the finals with two biggest upsets so far.

Casper Ruud is the second seed, so if by chance Norrie wins again, he has knock out the top 2 seed in Sand Diego Open and the 4th seed as well, Shapovalov. So it seems that Norrie has the momentum here, but I'm seeing Ruud ending Norrie's run in the finals.

I think its really too close to call for either to win, Norrie played great to stop Rublev,
not easy because he was playing quite well himself. Being no.2 seed Ruud should be able
to beat Norrie but yea that doesnt always play out.

The final of the Sofia Tournament just ended with a win for Sinner over Monfils, it was a
convincing and strong win by Sinner, 6-3, 6-4.

I expected this i betted on Norrie the last time he won against Shapavolov. Norrie is playing really good this year and he has one of the biggest winning % this year in wins. Norrie will probobly be in top 10 by next year for sure. He has a really good chance against Rublev if he is playing his best tennis.
he lost the first set but he's winning the 2nd one, we might see a comeback, the one that I think can win today is Dimitrov, the odds are pretty good @3  but I think I'll go with  something low and less risky like Dimitrov to win a set which @1.7, Ruud is playing really well but I think playing on hard doesn't bring the best of him, he's more of a clay guy.

Edit: Rublev showed a lot of frustration by the end of the 2nd set, Norrie to win the match is looking good for me.

Great match, I watched this and had a bet on Rublev, he took the first, Norrie took the
second and the third had some great Tennis played, Norrie frustrated Rublev by breaking
him in the second game. Rublev lost him composure a few times throwing the racket
and hitting the net. Importantly Rublev couldnt break Norrie back.

So Norrie v Ruud in the final.

In Sofia im going with Sinner to win, I will continue my backing of him, he has earned
me lots of Satoshi's in this tournament.

Fabulous win by South Africa and in the last play of the match. NZ handed the win
to them by going offside on front of their goal.
Well done to @Kakmakr for the prediction.

Great game, pretty close all the way with some pure class from both teams, and to top
it off SA retake their #1 world ranking.

Australia predictably beat The Pumas and NZ take the championship.

United Championship

I redid my multi-bet on Leinster, Munster and Australia, Just waiting for
Leinster to win today.

So far the 3 other sides have won their matches, Connacht beat the Bulls from SA 33-6.
Ulster beat Zebre 36-3. Munster came from behind to beat The Stormers from SA 34-18.

League

I'll be following the NRL final online. Come on The Penrith Panthers !

Small stat kindof worth quoting from  NRL.com FWIW

Quote
he Panthers have 13 players with grand final experience, compared with four for the Rabbitohs.

3694  Economy / Speculation / Re: October Bitcoin bull month. on: October 02, 2021, 04:38:51 PM
Generally the Q4 for crypto is very bullish. And this is what everybody is hoping for. Similar to how everybody in 2018 was assuming Q4 would be bullish and would push us away from $6K and into a new ATH of $20K and instead the opposite happened.

Its hard to say this will happen. What is different now from 2018 is that back in 2018 if I recall the funding rate is neutral or a little positive, right now its the opposite. Its either neutral or little negative. Which means in 2018 people were leveraged long and now people are leveraged short a little. Usually when this happens the complete opposite is in store for the bear. However I really think that we might get a 2013 repeat where we peaked in April and then peaked again in November. However I am unsure if we can breach $100K. Maybe top will be like $80K or something similar.

Yes historically following a halving Q4 the following year is bull territory, most will
be familiar with the 2017 run from around $4000 in early October to $20,000 in mid
December.

Planb tweeted today that he forsees the bull tun to continue for the next 6 months,
this leaves me feeling very bullish for this querter at least.

On-chain analyses finished tonight: IMO we are midway, no sign of weakness (red) yet.
Note color overlay is not months to halving but an on-chain signal. My guess: this 2nd leg of
the bull market will have at least 6 more months to go.

3695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador to mine bitcoin using Volcanic energy on: October 02, 2021, 09:08:42 AM
A lot of whats been posted just above ^ is right, particularly the green clean energy points.

Its very difficult to create clean energy without first using fossil fuels and releasing carbon to create
the thing which generates clean energy.

They may be mining Bitcoin with clean energy, it may be factually correct. My utopian view would
like to think that Bitcoin will enable El Salvador to reduce its dependence on other nations resources.

I wonder which is less harmful to the environment, creating geothermal power plants with a long
lifespan or creating solar panels and wind turbines with 20 year life spans?

Given the choice I think I would opt for GT

World rankings #'s 1 and 2 face off against each other. TBH I cant see South Africa
doing it and I'm not putting any Satoshi's on it.

TBH I'm dissapointed with SA performance especially after winning the Lions Tour
series this year and coming into the tournament in 1st place. Should be a cracker of
a match.

NZ have run away with it
SA have been lack lustte
AUS have shown improvement from the 3-0 beating they took in the Bledisloe Cup
ARG have been dissapointing failing to score a single point
3697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: October 01, 2021, 05:32:06 PM
Sounds like a bit of political turmoil within the NRL big wigs. I'm sure both trams wouldnt
mind playing in Sydney but do they mind playing in Queesnland?

Union

I have a multi bet on for Leinster and Munster to win their games in round 2 of the
United Championship, coupled with Australia to beat Argentina in the Rugby Championship
and to top it off I threw in Waikato to beat Northland in New Zealands National
Provincial Championship (something I know nothing about) and I have lost
with them getting beaten. The other 4 games have yet to be played.

Moral of the Story, stick to what you know.

Seperately I have Connacht the beat the Bulls tonight at home and Ulster to beat Zebre.

3698  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-17] Paypal UK allows purchase of BTC, ETH, LTC (and bch). on: October 01, 2021, 12:37:33 PM
I hope they roll it out for the rest of the world as well. This is a welcome news and should help in further mass adoption of Crypto.

Not a big fan of Paypal or their parent company eBay, they have a serious issue with their system as far as cancellation and chargebacks are concerned - but with crypto payments they will surely forget the chargebacks!

Paypal doesnt have a parent company anymore and EBAY wasnt that. EBAY used to be
the parent but Paypal is now independent.

Paypal and crypto is a good thing, and I would also like to see EBAY follow to provide
the ability for buyers and sellers to transact in crypto.

I use Paypal and EBAY a lot for buying and selling and would like the option to transact
in crypto Bitcoin.

Its only a matter of time before further rollouts are announced by PP

Bitcoin wallet, using a hardware wallet will provide those security measures,
needing a passphrase or series of numbers to access the device, sending a transaction
needs the owner to verify each transaction.

Personal security hasnt changed, we need to be vigilant and try to keep our posessions
secure particularly smartphones as they hold so much information. Broadcasting
ownership of Bitcoin publically IMO is a no-no.

Being able to defend ourselves is important, most thiefs are opportunistic.

I didnt bet on the Ivashka v Monfils match, too close for me to call. I lost on De Minaur
when he lost to Giron.

Todays quarter finals matches with bets I have are Millman, Monfils and Sinner.

Sinners match I think could be a tough match against Duckworth who has had a
decent run in a few tournaments this year.
