3701  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting vs fantasy sports on: April 18, 2023, 01:22:16 PM

I never liked fantasy sports. To me, it is a meaningless thing. Sports betting though, it is the real thing. Why would someone spend his time on the fake stuff while the real thing exists? You can study teams, coaches, referees and come up with an educated guess when you bet on sports. That is a very valuable thing to have which you don't with the purely luck based games. Studying teams don't always work though it is still better than having nothing. I'd rather bet on sports than betting on a luck based game.

You do same thing in fantasy sports as well.

I consider fantasy sports betting is selective scamming technique and they brand it as skill game not as gambling which itself is a wrong statement its more risky and perfect definition of gamble than choosing which team will win either this or that in sport betting. Also the rewards are not transparent so it's a big question mark whether you can trust it for big amount.

I don't know if you understand what fantasy sports is or may be you just tried fantasy sports on some scummy platform and judging solely on that.

Thanks for explanation. Never though people would bet on imaginary teams. For me Fantasy sports betting was a total mix of a computer games and a bets like "who would win King Kong vs Godzilla" (at first I did not even where those two could compete...). Turns out this is like a football manager pc game with gambling option. Then I have even more questions - what if a person creates a team that has same players as other team. Sort of a copy/paste. How can a winner be found in such case? An algorithm will select the winner randomly? Like jrrsparkles told, that looks scammy and not transparent at all.

Depends on platform, where I play, winnings are split in such case.

Of course they are different, the fantasy sports can be tampered or can be controlled and there are some possibility that the skills of the players will depends on the bets on the team. I would still consider placing bets on sports betting than the fantasy sports as there is no way we can make sure that the game is fair.

Mind explaining? How is fantasy sports controlled/tampered?

fantasy sports as there is no way we can make sure that the game is fair.

Wdym with that?

All? Nah. Most credit goes to batters. Dhoni had 1 run contribution in it. Imo, he should have came for bat bit early as well. We could have seen a bit higher target, not that it much matters but I'm all in for crowd going berserk over him.

Dhoni has already contributed with his bat. He made 32 from 17 balls against the Rajasthan Royals, which almost enabled Chennai Super Kings to win that match (they lost by a whisker). And Dhoni is not in the team as a specialist batsman. He is the wicket-keeper and captain and in both the roles he has given a splendid performance so far. And since he is batting at no.8, I don't think that a lot is expected from him. Batting responsibility lies with those who are higher up in the order, especially Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube.

Was talking about match vs RCB specifically. Aside from wk, captain — he's also considered a master finisher. Yea, he usually bats at 8 but could be changed, no? We all know he bats better than Jadeja, Moeen, Rayudu.

Chennai Super Kings tried to fend off Royal Challengers Bangalore by building a big total in the 24th match and they were successful. Conway, Shivam Dube and Ajinkya Rahane's brilliant batting helped Chennai Super Kings set a target of 226 runs. On the contrary Royal Challengers Bangalore were also playing well but they lost the match by a narrow margin of runs. Every ball was important as the target was big with Shahbaz Ahmed scoring 12 runs off 10 balls and Wayne Parnell scoring just 2 runs off 5 balls. I think if these two could have improved a bit more Royal Challengers Bangalore would have been able to win the match.

You are forgetting M. Lormor, duck for 5 balls. RCB is heavily dependent on few of their star players.

The match has been won by Chennai super kings and all credit does to him. Even though Royal Challengers Bangalore were scoring runs at a rapid pace and at one time it seems that they might achieve this target with one or two overs to spare but Chennai super kings captain kept his cool and eventually his team won this very interesting thrilling match.

All? Nah. Most credit goes to batters. Dhoni had 1 run contribution in it. Imo, he should have came for bat bit early as well. We could have seen a bit higher target, not that it much matters but I'm all in for crowd going berserk over him.
3704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [Link] How to be eligible for potential ZkSync retrospective airdrop on: April 18, 2023, 03:47:46 AM
Today I don't really anticipate much on airdrop as I realized that most of those airdrops are just speculations from the public and those "influencers".

Ignore both, even if they get something right it's going to be excluded from eligibility criteria.

...I also missed ARB which is a disappointment. Today I don't really anticipate much on airdrop as I realized that most of those airdrops are just speculations from the public and those "influencers".

I think there will be many more disappointments waiting for you when you see once Layerzero, zkSync, Starknet and Arbitrum Novagenerously distributing airdrop. I believe that it is necessary to perform at least a minimum of interactions with these networks in order not to experience Fomo later.

Arbitrum nova? Why would there be when there is arb already? Eligibility criteria already included 'activity on nova'.
3705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting vs fantasy sports on: April 18, 2023, 03:36:13 AM
Both are skill based yet former is considered sheer gambling while later is not. Fantasy sports has become norm, while on the other hand if people come to know that you bet on sports you'll be met with eyebrow raise.

^ that's my opinion. What's yours? Do you consider both of them same or different?

I have no real clue how fantasy sports exactly works and how you could bet large sums of money on it. A few friends of mine played fantasy football in the past and where building ridiculous strong teams with the best players all around the world and would be winning every match. I never really understood how the results were generated, there must be some algorithm behind it. And when there is an algorithm determining results, can't there be players figuring it out and using it for their advantage? My main concern is to not fully understand the risks involved and not being able to make correct predictions to bet on. I would expect only gamblers who have an advantage to bet on fantasy league games.

You select players who you think will play well, select captains and vice captains who will earn you bonus points. Thereon, you compete with other players, top scorer wins the game. Everyone has same access to create 'ridiculous strong' team, may be your friends just have good knowledge of football.

It comes naturally with interest. I do not understand cores, nodes because I don't have interest about them, while in nft I'm interested, this interest automatically bestows knowledge.

Don't force yourself if you have no natural inclination toward subject, it won't work

Plenty in games and rounds. Some on gambling platforms themselves. One time I was close to hitting jackpot on one of casinos by one number. I tried to chase jackpot after that, turned out futile, never again. Would happily take free entries tho.

Well I am still doing my research on it, I won’t jump into conclusions saying it’s a botted account influenced hashtag. It’s still unclear to me what the purpose of the hashtag and how it would benefit those who staged it.

Trending hashtag will help scammers get eyeballs to fake 'uniswap hacked' tweet. People will think uniswap was hacked, to stop their wallets from getting drained they will go to fake revoke cash website, give approval and get their wallet drained.

Of course they will find some other sport to promote from, even if all sports are banned, there will be something else. There is always platform available to promote, as long you pay the right price.

Indian premier league is also filled with fantasy league garbage, it's not exactly gambling but I'd consider it pretty close to it. I expect similar development for it as well.

lol, dc gone again, yet to win their 1st match even. Even commentators are roasting Delhi team, "getting hammered each week than having a close game". They desperately need team overhaul.

One player can't carry whole team always, any team dependent on single player won't reach playoffs, if somehow they do, they will lose there in one sided match.

Shikhar Dhawan is the top-scorer in this edition so far, with a total of 233 runs from 4 matches. He is being hailed by everyone as the secret behind the strong performance by Punjab Kings so far. David Warner is at second spot, with 209 runs from 4 matches. But in his case, critics are baying for his blood. I really don't understand this. Warner did what he could. He steadied the innings and scored runs, although he was a bit slow (not super-slow though). A lot of people are saying that Warner is the reason why DC is losing matches. I don't agree with that argument.

I don't know for sure but had DC been a better team, Warner would automatically play aggressive than his current defensive play. Having players behind you to take care of innings makes you fearless.

I want to see how much Delhi team scores if Warner is out early. Axar Patel's last quick fifty was nice but to me it appeared luck rather than skill.
3716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: what about the fate of altcoins if btc drops to 10 dollars? on: April 15, 2023, 03:02:10 AM
Such scenarios are better off left to moment when they happen, I find these speculations futile. We might predict outcomes based on our present limited knowledge however things could be vastly different when that actually happens.
3717  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Premier League #IPL on: April 15, 2023, 02:54:08 AM
A certain win awaits for Gujarat Titans in this match. Basically 153 runs did not seem worthy of this wicket. Moreover cricketers also thought that this match would be high scoring. Punjab Kings continuous defeats are taking the team to the bottom. It has been revealed to almost everyone that the Punjab Kings team is quite weak this season. As the result of this match is certain, everyone will have to think about the next match. Shekhar Dhawan scored normally high today if he could have made a bit of progress then we can expect a win.

One player can't carry whole team always, any team dependent on single player won't reach playoffs, if somehow they do, they will lose there in one sided match.
3718  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What happens If Binance Exchange Flee Away like FTX on: April 13, 2023, 09:11:42 PM
I don't think it'll flee like ftx but it could fall down due to other reasons, and no surprise that it will bleed the whole crypto market along with it (will probably become reason for one of future bear markets).
3719  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ridiculous Bets that disappointed you on: April 13, 2023, 09:04:18 PM
I don't have screenshots but those bets are always disappointing where you go with 98% win chance in dice and still you lose, and in sports betting strong team losses to mediocre one.
