3721  Other / Serious discussion / Lowest gas lmit I can use with ethereum? on: August 07, 2020, 01:36:10 AM
I'm trying to send some funds out of a smart contract and I'm not sure how gas limiting works but I was quoted $7 for a transaction within 10 minutes (at 36 GWEI).

I've set it to 6 GWEI to see if it'll confirm, would this be enough for a confirmation in around 12 hours or so?

I've sent with eth recently (few weeks back) and the fees were much less - it's not urgent I get the funds out I just wanted to move them somewhere else.
3722  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: My guide on Leveraged trading on: August 07, 2020, 12:04:49 AM

"In 1000 steps of 1% like this,
you could turn 0.001 BTC in to more than 20.75 BTC."

Solid advice. But a bit unrealistic for most traders lol.

A trade a day at 1% would turn 0.001 to 0.037 though..

It's rare to find a daily move that tmhigh sometimes though - some days are really boring.

I skimmed the guide and it looks quite useful. I do like going in the direction of market sentiment too when I trade, going against it when everything seems one way often doesn't make sense until you spot something critical (but if you don't spot it and have a tight enough stop sometimes it can still work out in that direction so...)
3723  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Stop-lose any recommend? on: August 06, 2020, 09:30:07 PM
What are you trading based on?

If you're trading a breakout, put the sl below where the last flag formed but make sure you're risk is below 100% of your reward.

Eg if you were long from 9500 and targeted 10000, your sl should be at least 9000.

If you're trading a continuation such as a 2nd-4th eliott wave or a bull flag (after the 2nd rejection down - shorting) then put your stop at the distance between the top and bottom of the first wave down - second wave of the move.
3724  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: August 06, 2020, 09:10:47 PM
You could easily avoid this problem by providing a letter of guarantee. A rogue tor node won't be able to sign a message with an address, that is under your control.
This doesn't solve anything: if the rogue Tor node change a deposit address, they can also sign a Letter of Guarantee from any address under their control, and display said address as the "official" one.
Just use .onion if you use Tor.
No. You did not understand what I said. Here is an ELI5...

Say, I am running a mixer. I have a clearnet version as well as a .onion one. I show this address on my homepage & bitcointalk thread and declare that I'll sign a message through it as letter of guarantee - 1HRnZx1ukJ338WfcqK6T59ZEWTuzehUcu1. The letter of guarantee will contain the deposit address signed by the mixer. An user can verify whether the deposit address he/she has received through Tor browser is signed by this address, i.e. 1HRnZx1ukJ338WfcqK6T59ZEWTuzehUcu1, which itself can be cross verified by visiting the home page or bitcointalk thread on clearnet.

Now, you are running a rogue Tor node and want to change the deposit address. Tell me, how can you provide a letter of guarantee containing that changed deposit address signed by the address visible on my homepage & bitcointalk thread through clearnet, i.e. 1HRnZx1ukJ338WfcqK6T59ZEWTuzehUcu1?

Err you start an instance with ChipMixer and just scrape the information from their site via tor and save the token to receive the funds later?

Captchas are fairly bypassible afaik and you'd already have to put on the effort to search for the key and verify it you're better off getting ChipMixer to list their ssl public key...

(which I can't get access to on mobile).
3725  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: August 06, 2020, 06:21:00 PM

Maybe just add a note that the website is optimized for Landscape viewing Smiley

Yeah it's been like that for a while, I just request desktop connection and then it works - didn't think to rotate it...
3726  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is there a list of members of the forum (preferably trusted) with ln nodes? on: August 06, 2020, 01:10:57 AM
Ive made a start: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5266907.msg54940969#msg54940969

I had trouble opening a node with eclair - apparently a connection problem but I had it via cable and mobile signal so not sure what could cause that... My electrum might do better.

@phil looks like a decent spec for running it, I think the full node syncing is the hardest problem to get past for now (and then electricity costs).
3727  Economy / Lending / Re: Free lightning tests on: August 06, 2020, 01:05:57 AM
Have you got a watchtower open or have you managed to leave the phone on if its éclair of any wallet that could still be the priblem.

The solution i found is to open an app like YouTube in dual screen so that your screen stays active (you need a video open and playing/on pause though).
3728  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 100 milj in btc? on: August 06, 2020, 12:46:51 AM
What If 10 trillllion? 😉😉

If market drops u would have a like 8 trilion...
Its enought 8 trill 10trill it Don't matter much

You'd be in jail for manipulating the market 🤣. That'd send each btc to 400k if all btc were bought by you - if not you're looking at at least 1 mil per btc at least. I think you'd just try and pull out some profits there... After waiting for it to stabalise quite a bit above the price you bought at.

Reserved.

Also open to the option of adding a banner for any service supporting the ln but using it or actively contributing to it - free for a few days as I'd like to keep rotating.
3730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Overview of lightning network nodes owned by forum users on: August 06, 2020, 12:30:58 AM
I don't think there's one of these yet so I thought I'd make one, feel free to reply here or my other thread with suggestions and comments.

Timelord2067 made a thread which can be accessed here which suggests some lightning relevant information - services, node owners and wallets to name a few.

If you want your node to be listed, post here (with @jackg so a bot picks it up) and send me a pm here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=543626

I don't imagine to get many nodes at the start but hopefully we can watch this grow and have trusted members to hold channels with - in case of attacks on the network.

When submitting a node, please use the format
Code:
Username:
Node URI:
Link to your post:
Link to an archive of your post:
I don't expect to intially make people sign an address but if you want to verify it's you then I'll add a nenw column.

3731  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Is there a list of members of the forum (preferably trusted) with ln nodes? on: August 05, 2020, 10:20:48 PM
I'm wanting to open up a few connections with people so I can have more of a reach with my electrum wallet and can increase their reach while my wallet is online.

IS there a list or should we make one,  I'm considering whether to run my own node as well but all I'd be able to run it from safely is a pi with a pruned chain (and without a constant connection)...
3732  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 100 milj in btc? on: August 05, 2020, 10:16:27 PM
Nah I'd just leave it set a reminder to check it monthly.

If you put a mil in btc, I'd hope you'd have the sense to put another mil into a fairly stable equity fund... If not you're wanting to lost that million anyway.
3733  Economy / Lending / Re: Free lightning tests on: August 05, 2020, 10:12:46 PM
I haven't done one for a while either:

Code:
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

I've tried eclair, electrum and lightning roulette and none of them can find a route (I'm not sure why).

If your node's staying open, I'll open about 20 Grin (I think that's my limit) channels and see if I can get any through.

Edit: I'm resorting to acinq

Edit: deleted my bump, posted below just in case
Not been here in a while, back again for another 9 hours if anyone wants to test the ln.
3734  Other / Off-topic / Re: password generator site on: August 05, 2020, 09:44:44 PM
I'd recommend this: https://youtu.be/Pe_3cFuSw1E

Or I'd go to somewhere like
https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ or look at the bip39 wordlist and make a 6-9 word seed.

A 6 word seed is of complexity O(73,786,976,294,838,206,464) to be cracked afaik.

https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt - wordlist is here.
3735  Economy / Economics / Re: Pray for Our World (Pray for Lebanon) Another Economic Crisis on: August 05, 2020, 09:28:37 AM
The events these 2020 are too much to take. The whole situation turned from a simple fire into a incident that shocked the World. Lets just hope that people around the World will contribute into their needs.

Yeah 2020s been a bad year. They'll have already faced an economic downturn from covid and now will have this to deal with on top of that.

It's a shame there's no well funded version of the EU for the rest of the world so that when crises like this happen other countries can help to reduce the burden...

The explosion itself is horrible but the whole economical and political situation in Lebanon looks dire. The Lebanese pound lost about 70% of its value against the US dollar and the national debt is enormous. A national bankruptcy is looming. Besides this, there is also an energy crisis. Protestors just tried to storm the Energy Ministry in Beirut yesterday and I saw on German news that people from Beirut are now trying to set up power supply in the city by themselfs with generators.

Let's hope they manage to get those generators fully functioning and the death toll doesn't continue to increase here (just because hospitals don't have electricity).

I imagine a lot of them are shaken up and are going to have a lot of determination to try and salvage as much as they can.
3736  Economy / Economics / Re: What should you learn so you never get affected by a economic crises ? on: August 05, 2020, 08:55:16 AM
EVERYONE gets effected by an economic crisis in capitalism - its the tradeoff...

Is there something specific you're referring to here? If it's work then you'll either have to become a creative or an engineer. For investments, don't pull out after a drop...
3737  Economy / Economics / Re: Virgin Atlantic Goes Bankrupt, Bailouts? on: August 05, 2020, 08:02:41 AM
If he or any stakeholders have arge amounts of cash or loan able assets then why should they get a bailout?

I think a few airlines in the UK got funds at the start of the crisis to try to keep them going, if virgin were one of them it'd be interesting to see what they've actually done with that to not survive where other airlines can - surely that means they're badly run and should be left to fail...

Edit: what happened to this https://metro.co.uk/2020/07/14/virgin-atlantic-secures-1-2billion-bailout-survive-pandemic-12988507/
Fuck 'em.

Does this mean it's fixed? It comes off that way since you didn't ask anything more...
3739  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Beirut just got nuked it's on the news on: August 05, 2020, 03:02:12 AM
"Trump says top U.S. generals believe explosion in Beirut was an “attack”"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx3oLZryzuo

https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2020/aug/04/beirut-explosion-huge-blast-port-lebanon-capital

That does make sense, I didn't think ammonium nitrate was flammable (I think it's used in firelighters and explosives to help contain and fuel a fire)... That website says it takes certain conditions in order to get an explosion to happen but at least it's not nuclear I guess...
3740  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help recognize fraud on: August 04, 2020, 05:57:37 PM
So most exchanges have it in their terms and conditions that they don't allow you to buy on behalf of someone else. 10% is a high markup.

Did you get a video of him saying/mouthing something unique?. He doesn't have to send it via audio - identification that's fake/copied is easy to come by...
