Paper money will burn and in a pinch can be used to help build a fire.

37242  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New Hardware June 2015? on: July 18, 2015, 08:08:50 PM
I'm actually, in final configuration, running 3 S5s from a pair of X1250s (I'm very conservative about power supplies, and like things to run COOL for longevity).

When I was initially TESTING them, I was running one at a time solo on a X1250.

isn't better to go with 1500w corsair? which has an efficiency even above platinum level? this for two s5 only of course but maybe it's better to attach the s4+ with it, so you can saturate almost the whole wattage and have a better hash per watt

it would cost less than two seasonic of 1250w, around 500 euro vs 400

How many PCI-e cables does that corsair come with?

looks like 8

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139079&cm_re=corsair_psu-_-17-139-079-_-Product

but the evga 1600 has 9  separate  pcie cables . and a 10 year warranty

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438037&cm_re=evga_psu-_-17-438-037-_-Product

I own one of the evga's  nice gear.

8 right, but remember that you can use the other connectors for the two ways molex pci-e adapter, and there are six peripheral sata there, each one can support up to 132x2, because one 4 pin molex support  around 132w

I don't trust Corsair nearly as well as I trust Seasonic. Corsair does NOT make any of their own power supplies, never has - Seasonic DOES and in fact is a OEM for other brands as well.

If I went with anything else, it would be the EVGA 13000 gold units a lot of other folks use - but only 6 PCIE cables (granted 2 of them have 2 connectors each) and the gauge of the cables doesn't look any bigger than the *8* Seasonic has..... dunno.

Seasonic has a better rep overall than EVGA does, but it's at least a fairly close competition there. Corsair isn't in the same ballpark on a LOT of their power supplies.

never had any issue with them, my 750 gold runs extremely smooth and fine since 2011, also they were using seasonic in the past as a manufacturer, but for their recent models they switched to flextronics

i have seen a good amount of people using serve grade powersupplies since they are build to run 24/7 so they are most likely to preform better are some points, i havent use them my self but from what i have seen they are pretty well build.

two of these will bitch slap  the evga 1600 or the corsair 1500 or any seasonic

http://www.gigampz.com/store/p21/Gigampz_80Plus_Platinum_Efficiency%2C_1200_Watt_Kit.html

and cost = 226 for the two.  note he is a usa seller and will take paypal.  I reviewed his gear here.

direct compared to the evga 1600 plat  which is 3x the price

37243  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S5, Spondoolies SP20 or 3 x Antminer S3? on: July 18, 2015, 06:30:13 PM
the sp20  can do 470 watts at about 1000gh

gui settings around

.605
.605
.605
.605

max volts .611

fan at 10 you are UK based so is your power .12 cents usd?   I guess that is 7 or 8 pence a kwatt.

37244  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 18, 2015, 05:52:13 PM
Sold out. Yes its a trial batch. Next batch end August…

that trial batch was 100 units right?

No official numbers given, but it seems it was a very small batch.
I'd guess anywhere from 50 to 200 units.

With 24 chips each I could see why they call it "mass production.   But that is a very small batch for sure.

Wonder if they are being safe doing small batch or if there is a holdup in process.

So far no one has seen any proof this machine works.
No one has shown it mining.
No one has shown if comes close to  the power ratings.

37246  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Hardware or Scam on: July 18, 2015, 05:40:24 PM
why sell miners the do 0.075 watts a gh?

if they are real  you would mine with them.

you would find a data center if your power was too high and mine there.

once you broke them in you would announce a sale  of some with perfect proof they work.

So the chance they are real is  soooo fucking small it can't be measured.
37247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ebay Forbids Bitcoin for Payments on: July 18, 2015, 05:19:15 PM
eBay should get an escrow and go from there. Not hard...

And who would pay that escrow?

Since bitcoin only try to secure the seller and not the buyer they need to do a lot of extra work they dont need to think about with other payment metodes.

if they can attract a new users base with the bitcoin payment then the profit which will result from it, can pay the escrow, the point it that the users base of bitcoin is so tiny and they know that

Not only are the usebase low but there are just 4,5 million bitcoins in circulation. Compare that to the currencys they deal in everyday and you see how little and isignificant bitcoin is for them and other big global companies.

well it is 14.5 million coins  but that is only   3.5-4.3 billion usd.  not much money at all.   and amph beat me to the correction
37248  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to connect my antminer s5 with bitminter pool? on: July 18, 2015, 05:12:16 PM
Pool URL: stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333

As user name put your Bitminter user name, an underscore, then a worker name, e.g. DrHaribo_asic3. In case you have firewall issues, port 443 and 5050 (Stratum) are also available. There is no password check, any password is accepted.

I suggest looking at better pools such as antpool.   Bitminter is not really a top notch pool.

Why? What's wrong with my pool?

your pool is a good pool.
37249  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: s3+ dead? on: July 18, 2015, 01:42:18 PM
what speed is it set to freq 225 ?  250?

try running one side set at freq 200.

maybe one board is dead but not the other.

37250  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The combined sidehack-novak usb stick review thread. AKA GekkoScience BM1384 on: July 18, 2015, 01:19:15 PM
yeah  they are hard to mount j4bbrwocky   has been having troubles with it.

I think they could be a decent 1 chip LTC/scrypt miner since the scrypt side pulls less power.

I also think people may not like that the usb stick only mines scrypt and the btc/sha-256 was disabled.

37251  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Question about pools? on: July 18, 2015, 12:59:21 PM
What's the total network hashrate right now, about 360PH neighborhood? 72PH is 20% of that. 6 blocks per hour makes 144 blocks per day, 3600BTC per day. 4% of 20% of that is 28.8BTC - your calculation was wrong (by several orders of magnitude more BTC than are generated in a given day) but it's still a considerable amount, about $8K.

I have rented 1ph from nicehash at 0.0092  mined it at f2pool at 0.0097

when all was said and done 2btc in and 2.2btc back

very hard to do it but it is kind of what the op is asking.

So would I. Designing the thing is no problem, but being able to mass-produce is a whole different matter (mostly of financing materials, since we'd have all the tools required).

Well maybe some new 1386 s-7 chips turn up  and you get to make a good 18 chip board this fall.

Or even SFards.  I would LOVE to see something from GekkoScience that does not cost the rumored 1200 dollars.

The great news is GekkoScience has gained a following, and rightfully so.  So i'm hoping this will make companies more willing to let them use chips.  Bitmain letting them get some then being quiet is curious.  I hope bitmain provides them some more chips whether it be S5 or what ever is next.  We have seen Sidehack can do a heck of a lot already with current gen chips.

Sfards gear according to their website  runs best at all LTC or all BTC  not to sure it is efficient enough to bother with.

37254  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Quick question please answer, if any one knows on: July 18, 2015, 12:03:18 PM
Hello

I dont know much about mining
I need a minor Price should be below 1 BTC
Which minor will be best?
What will be my earning?

Thanks in advance

we need to know how much your power costs to answer the question fully.

I would say 2 s-3's and this psu

http://www.gigampz.com/store/p21/Gigampz_80Plus_Platinum_Efficiency%2C_1200_Watt_Kit.html

will cost about 1 btc.  but since I do not know what your power cost I don't know what it will earn.

37258  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 18, 2015, 03:12:22 AM
says it does 54mh at 200 watts  in scrypt alone.

I had 10 gridseed blades   doing 800 watts getting 54mh   So I read this a 4x the quality of an old school blade.

How does that work on an ltc calc?  I get 350 days.

with the sha 256 turned off.

Does it take into consideration the LTC reward drop in 40 days?

No it does not which is part of the problem with this gear.   If you run both you lose efficiency .  if you run ltc it take 350 days to break even  .

With 8 cent power/ flat diff /flat price  /   that is really being generous

now do 8 cent power /flat diff/flat price for sha and you get.  411 days.

Does anyone expect flat diff /flat price/ 8 cent power  ?  for ltc or btc

plug in 6 cents and:

 ltc takes  319 days

btc takes 380 days

 running separate helps  power spent.

I would say you need 8 cent power and a lot of high hopes.
