On Tuesday, Andy Shroder posted on Reddit that eBay Inc. had removed his merchant listing  because he accepted bitcoin for his products.

Please understand that you mentioned you accept ‘Bitcoin’ as a method of payment. Some online payment companies are fairly new and inexperienced and they do not provide sufficient fraud protection to members. When we review payment methods to determine whether they are allowed on eBay, two key factors that we consider are ‘Security and Safety’ and ‘Ease of use.’ Please do not offer this payment method.

So, 'Hard of use' payment processor is guaranteed for the 'security and safety' and make all customer is comfortable eBay must consider this, again.

It's sad to see that eBay is still not allowing its users to use bitcoin as a payament method, well what can I say? On the brighter side, it leaves a massive gap in the market for someone to secure.

This is not a new thing, ebay also prevent a whole bunch of other ways to transact. Its been in the terms and conditions for ages as far as i know.  I dont think ebay are against bitcoin as such its just too complex as a means of trade for average person right now.

i think at some point they may accept bitcoin as form of payment. but they might only do so if they see another big company have increased sales due to bitcoin. if it's popular enough, they will surely add it.

Imho there is no company want to go bankrupt. They just try to understand what bitcoin is and how it can give profit for them. I'm sure they will pull their own words after they know the potentials of bitcoin.

That is a big part of the problem though, they will be saying "oh they accept bitcoin, now we should".

Innovation ensures a company's success. But the innovation has to continue or they could be in danger of being bought out by the competition.
Paypal seems to be stuck in their old ways and are susceptible to continue on into their downward sprial. It is just a matter of time before they go under.
They keep sending me promotions for $5 off your next purchase all the time, but I don't fall for their ploys for gaining customer loyality

They are afraid of Bitcoin not because it is not Secure and Safe for the users but rather because they are not the one controlling it.
There is no company standing behind bitcoin and ebay want rather have corporate business partner like PayPal or Visa/MasterCard.
It would be quite easy for ebay to provide good bitcoin service for users but it would be too good for people, and company won't earn from that.

4.5M? are you talking about available bitcoin in circulation? and where did you find this number btw, an estimation? because i doubt that there are 10M lost coin from the 14M+ total coins in circulation
