Linux and Windows, I quite like Windows to be honest, though I only run it as a second OS in my bootloader Tongue

I certainly do prefer Linux over Ubuntu.

Ubuntu is Linux though...
3742  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you ever bought games from Steam using Bitcoin? If so, for how much? on: February 03, 2017, 08:17:18 PM
I used bitcoin 1 time in steam to buy gift codes, spend 300$+.
Did you buy these on Steam itself or on an external website, since you said you bought giftcodes?
3743  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Investment Doubt on: February 03, 2017, 05:42:43 PM
For how much time do you usually let your money invested in a casino before finish or renew it?
There is not specific time in doing it, you can only estimate it based on the performance of the site. By setting up a goal in terms of profit and loses, you can make a good decision on what to do with your investment. It is not automatic that you will profit from gambling sites investment, there are sites that does not perform well, thus you have to divest your investment and transfer to a more active sites.
If you invest money in any site, you should keep on track your investment not in a daily basis at least 3 to 4 days you have to check. Becasue the site's performance are not always same, the profit giving sites will run in loss sometimes. In that time if it continues long term we have to move our funds to another reputed sites these are the problems we face in investment.
If the site is provably fair, in what way could the losses continue for a long time?
Say the house edge is 0.8%, you should see those percentages in your investment, depending how much they pay out to investors.

That's why I would recommend investing in Crypto-Games, they're the most transparant with their stats and what they pay out to investors.
The numbers just make sense if you see your investment after a month or so.
3744  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Please refrain from depositing from Blockchain.info if you want fast deposits on: February 03, 2017, 05:35:24 PM
I don't understand how this has anything to do with Blockchain.info ? I mean Its the miners who are responsible for confirming the transaction based on the fees you use , If you don't pay enough your transaction will clearly not get confirmed regardless of the wallet used and In addiction that , the website where you deposit can't know from where the funds are coming since the addresses are unique.
Yeah in general, this has nothing to do with blockchain.info, but I've noticed that the autmatically calculated fee is sometimes wrong, getting the transaction stuck for several hours or even days.

It's better to just add your own higher fee, then it should go through faster.
3745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Have you ever bought games from Steam using Bitcoin? If so, for how much? on: February 03, 2017, 05:31:22 PM
I would like to know how many people here have bought something on Steam using Bitcoin as the payment method.
It would also be good to know how much Bitcoin (or equivalent in $ or €) you've spent in total since Steam has started accepting Bitcoin.

Also important to note is that you don't count your purchases of Steam codes through external services, only orders made through Steam itself.

The primary reason I'm asking is that I would like to have some sort of view on the popularity of the Bitcoin payment method on Steam. I was pretty bummed when Fiverr removed Bitcoin payments and I'm hoping that Bitcoin payments on Steam are a bit more popular.

Not doing a poll, since I'm asking multiple questions and polls are easier to cheat.
Looking forward to hearing your responses!

My own response:

I've used Bitcoin about 3 or 4 times for a Steam purchase and the combined value of the orders was around 45 euros in total.
I still use Paypal some of the time, but if it's possible, I usually pay with Bitcoin.
3746  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the economy situation in your country that bad? on: February 03, 2017, 05:01:27 PM
It seems there are bad news all around with doom and gloom. Trade figures going down, jobs cuts, security situation not going well, and bad loans.

Is the economy situation in your country that dismal? Or this is just some fear mongering?

Where I live most people have to work all day long to be paid $200/month. If you have where to live that amount would be enough for one person but if you have to rent a flat it's almost impossible to survive. I'm a student and I live with my parents so I'm not complaining but for many people in my country it's really hard to find a good paying job.
If I lived in a country like that, I would go and learn a skill that allowed me to work online as a freelancer.
You'd earn more 'western' wages that way and you'd be able to live like a king in your country.

If you at least have decent internet access, that is.
3747  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way for steady income on: February 03, 2017, 04:55:40 PM
If you own some amount then investing is the best way for steady income. Some sites are giving 100-120% profit after a decided time. You can earn without any effort. The more you can invest, more you will get.
Are you talking about HYIPs? Investing from an unknown site will probably lose your money, I think that you said "you can earn without any effort" is wrong? because there is no work that you can earn without an effort also before you get a work you just need to effort it before you get it.
He is indeed referring to HYIP's and other related ponzi schemes. It's mind boggling that people really see them as a legit way of earning money effortlessly. It's pure BS.

People advising other to invest their precious coins in these scams are probably no better than the people operating these scams. If no one puts their money in them, then they will dry out eventually and vanish completely.

Even if you know that you are "investing" in an obvious scam where you accept the fact that the chances are high that you lose everything it doesn't change anything. Because it makes you willingly support these scammers.

The only reason these scams exist is that there is quite a high demand for them by rookies and other gamblers. And as you know, Bitcoin's user base is growing which translates into more people eventually finding their way to these scam sites.
To be completely honest here, for some people it is a legitimate way to earn money. By legitimate I mean that it works for some people, not that it's legal or anything like that.

I sometimes think that it would be better to focus on it being unethical and illegal, rather than it not working (sometimes it does, for early 'investors').
If you support HYIP's, you're investing in a ponzi (illegal) and you're actively supporting someone who's sure to scam people in the end (unethical)
3748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1MB block size forever is just silly on: February 03, 2017, 04:50:03 PM
Sorry if this question has been answered before, I haven't read anything about it.

Do we actually have any idea who's behind these spam attacks and what their purpose is? Is it just to put pressure for bigger blocks?
3749  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How saturated is the betting market. on: January 30, 2017, 07:24:28 PM
fortunejack can be a good selection to investing. if you have for example 1 bitcoin, then you can go with gambling sites and make invest in that sites. but as always, you need to think twice before you want to investing in gambling sites and only use free money to invest.
Worst advice.FortuneJack barely runs on investments.Never have I ever seen anyone talking about investing in them.Crypto-Games is the next best thing for investments, they're very transparent.
Yeah they're (Crypto-Games) one of the best sites to invest on. They are indeed very transparant about their earnings and statistics. Plus it's easy to remove your investment and get payout instantly.

But OP asked about starting his own casino and if there was still room in the market for that.
In my opinion there is always room for a new casino, you just need enough money for development, bankroll and marketing, so the usual answers...

If you're serious about this, I would go with a new concept, could be a dice site, but just one that has some special features that make it stand out among the rest.
3750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More than 50,000 unconfirmed transactions on: January 27, 2017, 10:22:55 PM
It was 57k unconfirmed transactions about 15 mins back and I thought it was getting better since everyone is posting about it being over 70k. Now, it is going back up. Crossed 60k unconfirmed transactions. Ive been waiting for about 18 hrs for my transaction to get confirmed. Hoping that happens in a couple of hours. It really sucks that it is taking soo long. Hopefully this will pass soon.
Usually if people pay 0.0005 BTC fees then it confirms within the next 3 three blocks, but I wonder that if everyone starts paying 0.0005 then even that would be less and maybe 0.005 would be new standard. Really not sure why this is happening and I hope this is temporary.

It's just some sort of a spam attack against the network, which isn't anything new since it happens once in a while. And yes, it's just temporary since it would be too costly for the entity behind this attack to continue doing this for weeks in a row. Sad thing is that they don't care about Bitcoin as the only people suffering right now are the users itself, and not the people they really want to target. Good thing is that the mempool seems to be going back to pre spam attack levels.
You could argue that by doing a spam attack, they actually do care about Bitcoin, but just want a solution for the congestion.
It's about time too, since Segwit isn't going to be implemented soon with only around 25%.

Why can't they just implement bigger blocks already?

You may provide us with some evidence that you are good at this game, by giving free predictions at least within a week. Then we can decide whether we will to subscribe to your service or not based on your predictions results. Without it, we wont take your service into our consideration. Thanks!
Aside from that, some evidence showing bet slips would also help a great deal in proving that you are what you say you are.
I know that they can be faked, but it would still give us a glimpse of your repertoire, so to say Smiley

The video's were pretty interesting to watch, but why use Instagram?
I would really suggest to also upload them to Youtube, that might be a bit better to reach an interested audience.
3753  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Stolen Bitfinex Coins on the Move on: January 27, 2017, 08:41:56 PM
I seriously wonder if these stolen coins will ever be recovered? I mean, it doesn't seem impossible with companies devoted to blockchain analysis.
Does anyone know of any examples of large Bitcoin thefts where the perpetrators were caught in the end?
If I were to bet on it, I would say they will be recovered. The exact addresses of where the coins are "sitting" are very well known, and are well publicized. I would doubt that any exchange would hesitate to freeze the account of anyone who receives any of the stolen coins. If a mixer were to receive any of the stolen coins, they would probably not "mix" the stolen coins because their customers would be unable to use those coins on an exchange. So, the hacker's only likely choice would be to deal with bitfinex to try to negotiate the return of some of the stolen coins.

I am not aware of any large thefts/hacks in which the thieves ended up getting caught, although I think this is different because of the above.

As of block 450293 872.89153671BTC has moved, and according to the OP of the above reddit thread they have been sent to various exchanges (possibly to see how they will react to receiving deposits of these stolen coins).

Seems to be a fraction of the whole booties. I would announce doubts about the exchanges reacting in a way that is satisfying for the thieves, which will just drain that flow again. Evading further observations. This time they just got caught, next times not.
I am not quite sure what you are trying to say.
I don't think that most mixers would have the morality to not mix these coins because their customers would not be able to use them.
About that, would they really not be able to use them? I would assume that blockchain analysis is something that takes time.

Enough time for someone (someone getting those mixed coins) to use those tainted coins before anyone noticing perhaps?

This topic from 2014 talk about previous Bitcoin thieves being caught and there are some that were, if you read the entire thread.
Though not many high profile cases.

This is not school here we are here to make money. We all spell good enough. We all undestood enough each other to do business.

Not being able to create a proper sentence makes your service seem unprofessional. And as morantis said, we have no incentive to hire you instead of the many, many others who do the same thing you do. A poorly constructed forum post from a newbie is not enough to make you stand above the crowd.

^This. You should probably take some elementary level ESL (English second language) classes before you try to conduct business with anyone.
The language is not that much of a problem for me, you can be bad at English but still be able to run a proper business.
The lack of information on the other hand is definitely something to worry about.

Sorry to say it OP, but it would be better to give a decent description of what you're offering.
3755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you a crypto enthusiast? What has driven you into becoming one? on: January 27, 2017, 08:15:23 PM
I entered into the world of crypto currencies and particular in bitcoin just a few months ago and since then I am a jealous supporter. Firstly, it was curiosity that drove me and then I found out the potentiality and enormous importance for every human to be the bank and the customer at the same time. I imagine neither the writer nor the director of a scientific fiction movie could not think this invention of P2P electronic payment system eight years ago. The main reason I stayed is simple. The freedom has anyone feels when understands that he can do anything he wants with his money without the need of any third trust entity, named bank.
Why jealous? Seems like a somewhat odd thing to say.
I'm asking because you say that you're interested in Bitcoin because of the impact it could have on society and because you like the technology behind it (using my own words here).

I just don't see how jealousy fits in that narrative.
3756  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to play gambling in a smart way? on: January 27, 2017, 08:10:54 PM
I am on profit from sports betting every single month. What I do is usually betting with the same stake or bet higher on games I feel that are going to win and bet less on games I'm not that sure ( I prefer to win less than loose more )

Well, feeling in gambling is usually not a good basis that your bet is going to win. Usually gambling is not based on those odds or good predictions, though they may win, but not all the time the predictions would really came true. Luck always play a factor in winning. There are teams that usually not expected to win, but guess what, they sometimes win.  Smiley
I would normally agree with you, but I also think that in sports betting, this feeling could me some sort of intuition that is formed by just watching the team you're betting on for a prolonged period.

If he's winning in the long term, he might just know a thing or two about sports betting Smiley
3757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel shameful for being a gambler? on: January 27, 2017, 08:06:54 PM
My family knows about this that I am a gambler, but they are proud of me that it is not my habit to gamble continuously. I always gamble and go for the best available times when I feel that I will win. That way, I feel secured from losing everything at once, and the only reason why I don't feel shameful, but feel proud on myself sometimes.
i think gambling is not something to proud on it and specially if you are addicted. i think no parents can feel proud on their parents to play gambling, they will never like their children to lost money or become addicted, in our society if my parents or elder know about my habits of gambling they will really charge me for that.
Not being shamed by it doesn't automatically mean that you're proud for gambling.
It's one of those things that most people only find shameful when they realize that they're getting addicted.

Shame is actually a pretty indicator when you're getting addicted imo.
3758  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best way to buy large amounts ~$10M of Bitcoin Anonymous/Securely on: January 27, 2017, 08:01:09 PM
I think it would be possible to at least buy it semi anonymously through LBC of Paxful, but realistically it isn't possible to buy such huge amounts on there.

I think you'd have to jump through some hurdles if you want to buy this amount non-anonymously.

I wonder if the fact that you're using Bitcoin as a means to gamble changes anything about the law?
Since bitcoin isn't really recognised as a currency, but rather an asset.

Makes me think Bitcoin gambling is still in some kind of grey area, but correct me if I'm wrong.
