3742  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen if we go lower than $215? on: February 11, 2015, 06:59:20 PM
The reason I use Bitcoin if the features, not the value. So price goes up or down....meh.. dont really care
Same here. For me noting happens because of price.
3743  Other / Politics & Society / Re: No Guns For Black Males 15 to 25 - USA on: February 11, 2015, 06:48:35 PM
15-year-old kids can own guns? Why is it you can't drink till you're 21 but can own a gun? Ridiculous.
Is that true? This should have been forbidden long time ago already not just now! Also why aren't proper pschychotests involved, i mean like really strict ones.

I got my first gun at 10. Which is typical for the place I grew up. Guess how many murders I have committed as a result?
But lethal gun or the one with compressed air? It's big difference.
May you disclose the place please?

.410 shotgun. It's quite real and quite deadly. Still it's a good gun for learning. It is a single shot long gun. I did not get a repeating rifle until I was 12-13. And was not allowed to own my own handgun until I was 16. However I started shooting them at about 8. Again, that was not weird where i grew up. I really did not know any kids without guns.
The most important thing I learned was how to be safe with firearms. That is emphasized over and over again in youth shooting. I now shoot about 200 rounds a week; pistol and precision rifle mostly. It's what I do to relax.
3744  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 15 Safest and 15 Most Dangerous Cities in the US on: February 11, 2015, 06:33:43 PM
Those safe cities are also gay cities. So what your saying is gay people are our only hope for a safe society?
" gay cites " ? what exactly do you mean with that the majority is gay ? cause i wouldnt belive that
I was joking. But if you go to almost any American city you will likely find that the safest and most prosperous areas are often "gay" areas. It's not that most people are gay, but this is where stable small businesses locate. I experienced this myself when I lived in St. Louis. The neighborhood I lived was Soulard. It is famously gay and has gay bars etc. I didn't care. I liked the clean streets and coffee shops.
My point was about the logical fallacy of false cause.

-1 for Avast.

Their new grimefighter is crap. But worst of all they now have a pop-up that appears in the browser showing you "deals" on the internet. It can't be uninstalled or shut off for more than 24 hours.  Exactly the kind of thing I pay to keep off my machine.

Let's not get off track. I don't know what this violent disturbed guy thinks. But all the athiests I know arrived at their decision because of science and not based on their delusional hatred. Just as most Christians and Muslims I know did not start believing so that they could wage a holly war on their neighbors.
It seems to me that the guy is just stupid. We had a crazy killer here in Wisconsin who shot dead a bunch of Indians because he thought they were Middle Easterners. That is how little he knew about what he was doing.

3749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Net Neutrality affect Bitcoin? I just saw this and wanted to pass it along. on: February 11, 2015, 04:58:05 PM
I think it is huge. I am divesting 50% if we lose net neutrality. The idea of your bitcoin decisions being approved by your ISP is disturbing.  If I owned an ISP it may be tempting to charge a fee for using your BTC client. Or barring BTC sites, or only offer their own private crypto-money.
3750  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Self-professed ‘anti-theist’ kills three young Muslims in Chapel Hill on: February 11, 2015, 04:52:47 PM
Uh-oh, I better start believing in god or I'll become a crazy killer!  Roll Eyes

Just kidding. Obviously this dude had problems.  Cry
3751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any Bitcoin Foundation member here? on: February 11, 2015, 04:43:23 PM
Are you seriously suggesting RodeoX that the Bitcoin foundation election process is open and transparent when you have to pay to vote for these people? The bitcoin foundation has and always will be a joke, the peadophilia accusations not just from random people but from people who have specific stories is just making things worse.
I'm saying if you think that crap is what the foundation is all about then you don't know what they are doing. I work with the serious and smart business people who are members. You may not know their names because there is nothing salacious about them, but they are the people who make things happen.
The way I operate is to engage and change things I don't like. That includes things within the foundation. I don't complain like a victim, I don't point fingers, I throw punches. Sure I did have to pay to join, but where do you think money comes from? I also pay to join the NRA. I don't agree with much of the NRA's platform either, but they are the player if you want in on the influence game.

The bottom line for me is that a failure to influence public and private policy is a loss for the bitcoin community and economy. That is why I have donated my time and BTC to the foundation. It is not what I would have designed, but better than doing nothing and just hoping everything will somehow be ok.
3752  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to Start? on: February 11, 2015, 04:31:45 PM
As mentioned, yes read the whitepaper. Almost everything else you see here are wild guesses, misinformation, paranoid conspiracy theory, etc. Definitely more misunderstanding than understanding.

Quote
The grooming, according to the lawsuit, started almost on day one. Egan remembers being pulled aside by Collins-Rector, Pierce, and Shackley for hourlong one-on-one lectures about how they had gaydar and they knew that Egan really was gay (he says he is not). He remembers the ban on the wearing of clothes in the pool or hot-tub areas. And he remembers being locked inside a gun closet for resisting Collins-Rector’s advances. He also remembers the drugs—Valium, Vicodin, Xanax, Percocet, ecstasy, roofies. In the years to come, several other young men would come forward to talk about inappropriate behavior by the executives of DEN. There was a boy named Daniel who, according to a 2007 account of DEN’s rise and fall in Radar, wrote a suicide note that his brother intercepted before he could act on it: “I can’t go on. I let them use me as a sex tool. I let those assholes do all those terrible things to me. Good-bye.” There are several boys, including Egan, who would recall Collins-Rector aiming a gun at them and threatening to pull the trigger. And there was the boy who, in 2000, filed a lawsuit in New Jersey claiming Collins-Rector repeatedly sexually abused him from 1993 to 1996. Collins-Rector denied those allegations but then settled the suit shortly before leaving the company.

The three boys filed a civil lawsuit in 2000 for sexual abuse against Collins-Rector, Shackley, and Pierce.

Yea...No, I don't want to meet known pedophilia ring leaders.

And take off that signature on the side there, it's embarassing to represent a scum foundation that openly allows people of this nature.   Undecided

Well I also am a citizen of a country that openly allowed George Bush. I did not vote for the people you have mentioned, but there was an election and they won. Should the foundation have canceled the election because they didn't like the outcome? Should only people approved by you be allowed to run?

If you are in Manhattan then you have options. Like this group that keeps track of meetups:
http://www.bitcoinnyc.org/

Or you may want to head over to Union square (a.k.a. Satoshi square) at the statue. Not sure about winter, but when I was there this fall people were meeting there on Wednesdays to trade. You may also want to check here:

3757  Other / Off-topic / Re: how many language u use to talk?? on: February 10, 2015, 09:02:53 PM
English and Spanish. I also speak a some Arabic.

I do know a few words in other languages like Turkish, French, Lakota and German. I'm thinking about spending some time this year in Cambodia and learning some Kamahr.

I feel sorry for the Russians. They really are going backwards, back to the cold war propaganda days. And under Putin they are going to lose the economic gains they made connecting with the west. Goodbye prosperity, hello darkness. If I may paraphrase - the people who told you that two plus two is ten are now telling you that math is a western lie.

3760  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Conservative Bigots Heckle Muslim Americans Attempting to Sing National Anthem on: February 10, 2015, 08:33:35 PM
The funny thing is that the Jihadists agree with these guys. It is the moderate, educated Muslims who threaten Al-Qaeda and Dasch. Those bigoted protestor-hillbillies are a lot like the Jihadists and would get along smartly. Just as civilized people would get along with the Muslims who want peace.
