1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why bitcoin is falling and when will it end? [ANSWERED] on: September 06, 2019, 07:05:13 PM
It's falling up into the sky again.  Roll Eyes
2  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: IRAN and Bitcoin/Alts. on: September 06, 2019, 07:02:08 PM
If the USA wants people to join in their sanctions then they are going to have to become legitimate in their efforts. It was the US who blew the Iran deal not Iran.
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are about to hit 8K and below...soon (see charts) on: September 06, 2019, 06:47:32 PM
PRO-TIP: all bitcoin TA and speculation is just guessing. Nothing more to it than that.  Wink

It is literally impossible to account for enough of the economic activity in crypto to generate any meaningful numbers. There is still nothing wrong with it. Guessing is fun.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Congress Urged to Regulate Crypto Sector Under Bank Secrecy Act on: September 06, 2019, 06:43:25 PM
I pay my taxes. That is the end of it for me. If the gov pushes too hard then I will just take my bitcoin elsewhere and pay taxes there.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the ICO dead? on: August 28, 2019, 06:42:18 PM
It's hard to do the same scam again and again and find new suckers.  Wink
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In what way bitcoin gets increased usage? on: August 27, 2019, 06:31:50 PM
Can I pick door #3?

What I think would push the price up is something else that bitcoin is not being used for. But I don't know what that is.
7  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-8-27] Bitcoin Price 93% Unlikely to Hit $20K by End of 2019, Data Claims on: August 27, 2019, 06:29:44 PM
Interesting. However, like all the other TA here it is a complete guess. There is simply no way to know the future price. Even if "Data" claims it to be so.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to Bitcoin - What am I missing? on: August 14, 2019, 07:29:34 PM
Finally having some first experiences with Bitcoin, seems very disappointing.

The fees are very high, and it is very slow. This makes it very impractical for a lot of uses. What am I missing?

There is only one fee in the bitcoin protocol and it is the lowest competitive fee. If anyone on the network thinks they can do it for less, then they can. I frequently send money overseas and I assure you, there is no cheaper option.

The bitcoin protocol (and alt-coin clone networks) is the fastest way to send money. For comparison, a credit card takes between two days an a month to settle. As a user you may not know that. It is well known to business owners.

Now if you are trying to mix bitcoin with fiat currency, then yes, it is going to take forever. But it has nothing to do with bitcoin. The slowdown is in meeting legal requirements for the use of dollars or euros. Those currencies have many, many, laws.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What You Should Know Before Playing A Crypto Betting Game on: August 02, 2019, 07:55:23 PM
What you should know is that the casino is going to be the only one with money in the end.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Croatian post office now offer crypto exchange on: August 02, 2019, 07:53:14 PM
Dobar-Dan!

It's been a while since I stayed in Croatia. Maybe I have a reason to go back now?
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: When Will Bitcoin Be Back To $20,000 ? on: August 02, 2019, 07:45:49 PM
Why should it?
What have you done to cause a rise in valuation? Things happen for reason, a cause. They don't happen because we want it.
12  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Why hasn't any government stopped Bitcoin? on: August 02, 2019, 07:41:52 PM
Implied in this question is the notion that bitcoin COULD be stopped by any government. It CAN'T.
13  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: US Tariff Ruling N297495 = 2.6% mandatory tariff on bitcoin mining hardware on: August 02, 2019, 07:39:17 PM
...
10% additional tariff to China announcement below:
...

This should be a great help to China. It's not like they are buying U.S. made ASICs.
What a moron Trump is.
14  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price will go below 100 $ and then > 1,000,000 $ on: August 02, 2019, 07:34:27 PM
What an utterly pointless post.  Roll Eyes
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cash in cold storage bitcoin on: August 02, 2019, 07:28:04 PM
By "cold storage" I am going to assume you mean a private key kept offline. If that is the case you should start by installing wallet software. Electrum or Core are good choices. It's likely best to go with the software that created the wallet you are storing.

It will need to sync, so settle in for a few days at least. During that time set up an exchange account linked to your bank. It should be an exchange that has a business license. NEVER send to an unlicensed business.

Now you are set! Send the BTC to the exchange, sell it, withdraw the fiat currency to your bank.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Senate Banking Committee’s Crypto Regulation Hearing on: July 30, 2019, 06:04:26 PM
Our problem is that if we do not speak up for bitcoin then someone else will. Someone less qualified and with their own agenda.  So if you do not like regulation then now is the time to contact your senator. This is a YOU job!
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Technology Disaster on: July 27, 2019, 02:27:09 PM

...
What if the person holding private key is dead or met with an accident and lost memory or the person gets Alzheimer?
...

I think your fears are well founded. This could happen even if the user has multiple wallet backups. One might consider writing a letter explaining how to get access to their bitcoin, then keeping it in a safe deposit box. In the event of death or incapacitation the box will be opened by the executor who will then be able to recover the funds.
18  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Tradexhil scam ESTAFA. on: July 16, 2019, 07:22:09 PM
The main lesson here is "NEVER EVER do business with an unlicensed exchange". Without a business license this is not an actual business. That means you have zero legal recourse to get your money back.
Bummer.  Cry
19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BITCOIN CONFIRMATION on: July 16, 2019, 07:18:13 PM
It is easier to make your deals denominated in BTC not dollars. Dollars are just local money and only apply to some.
20  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-11] Trump apparently knows what Bitcoin is, and he doesn’t like it on: July 16, 2019, 07:14:11 PM
He can draw up all the BS regulations he wants. I am not going to follow them. If the USA wants to steal my bitcoin via regulation then I'll just take my money overseas and give America nothing. Donny's failed leadership has caused me to rethink my place in the world and being an American is not a source of pride anymore. So I'll keep using bitcoin and traveling the world, but perhaps I will stop coming back to the U.S. and just stay in Africa.

Are you planning on renouncing your US citizenship? The thought has definitely crossed my mind for tax reasons, but since my family is here, I'm concerned about being blocked from visiting. Renouncing citizenship (and dodging tax liability) means giving up your legal right to enter the country. You have to hope they'll issue you visas at their discretion.

If I have to, yes. I have lived all over the world. It really would not change my life to become a citizen of Uruguay or wherever.
