3761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Greece's first Bitcoin ATM installed on: June 29, 2015, 12:24:20 PM
Perfect way for the government to track you down when they force the ATM owners to disclose their logged information (because im sure they will log in ID data requested to do withdraws/deposits attached to the address used because I doubt this is anonymous).
I would use localbitcoins, can't trust those ATM things that require ID cards and whatnot.
3762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can anyone explain this address? on: June 29, 2015, 12:21:20 PM

What this means is yet another proof that we need a bigger blocksize. While we mentally masturbate about it we'll have more and more glitches like those.
3763  Economy / Economics / Re: Greek referendum on: June 28, 2015, 06:44:42 PM

Yeah i saw Tsipras in television talking about it. There will be a temporal bailout starting tomorrow... this was so obvious that it was coming. Anyone that gets caught with the money stuck on the banks it's their fault, they had plenty of time to withdraw and convert to Bitcoin or Gold if you are old.
3764  Economy / Economics / Re: MtGox VS Bank bailouts. on: June 28, 2015, 06:42:51 PM
I was just thinking of the 2008 bank bailouts, then I thought of the money lost in MtGox. I'm curious what you think. The bank bailouts seem to have cost us (citizens of USA) 21 billion dollars. MtGox lost stole 240 million dollar's worth of bitcoin (valued at $1200 each). Is bitcoin really that much riskier than cash? I would say no.

When you are comparing banks and bitcoin exchanges, remember one thing; banks will do business as they always did, while exchanges advance preventing another disaster.
Anyways "magic the gathering" was never supposed to be largest exchange that it was forced to be at the time, so when it failed to advance (terribly), it got replaced by better alternatives.
Bitcoin is not that risky when you know how to use it and secure it, but it sure does attract people who exploit those who don't.

cheers
Besides the fact exchanges arent secure to store BTC long term because you dont own the private keys as long as they are there, MT Gox was the first ever exchange, so it was obvious the first one would suffer from everything possible. As always, that happens when something is mega new, it fails and then gets fixed.
3765  Economy / Economics / Re: Grexit on: June 28, 2015, 06:40:26 PM
saw it on cnn it was a last minute bail out, they still have to meet the European central bank

Bailout? It has been rejected by Eurogroup. That is why the Greeks are going ahead with the referendum, on whether they should implement even tougher austerity measures or not.

And regarding the default, it has been confirmed by Tsiparas that no payment will be made before the deadline (30th June). The referendum is scheduled for 5th July, and only after that date they will make the decision about the payment.
It seems Greece are never able to pay back on time and always ask for bailout! It cannot be like this forever! But it seems they fall in this dilema, creditors have to extend the loan and bailout Greece otherwise Greece will default!

What cannot be forever is pretending that they could pay, they or any other country. No country can ever pay their debt back so who cares. I would ask for bailout too, you are fucked anyway so at least go down with some dignity.
3766  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloudways Now Accepts Bitcoin on: June 28, 2015, 06:39:09 PM
Next stop is CloudFlare!

There were rumours but they didn't accepted yet :/ http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2d4tke/cloudflare_will_accept_bitcoin_later_this_year/

CloudFare is the only service of this kind that I know. They definitely have the monopoly now. Every other website that I stumble upon has that "connecting through CloudFare" thing. Its literally everywhere. I never heard of Cloudways.
3767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UlteriorStates‬ [IamSatoshi Documentary] is out on: June 28, 2015, 06:37:27 PM
I really enjoyed this, the length is good so it gets to the point and it doesn't feel too long. It's a good introduction for anyone that wants to find a context in why Bitcoin is the most important thing since the internet was invented.
3768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin is an Agent on: June 28, 2015, 06:36:13 PM
If you were a Maxwell hater, you would say Maxwell is an agent. Same goes for Satoshi.. etc. Everyone that is not liked by someone, gets called an agent. But the thing is, we are all trying to make Bitcoin better in here, just with some different viewpoints, thats all.
3769  Economy / Speculation / Re: Amazon is going to accept bitcoin in the near future on: June 25, 2015, 03:59:16 PM
Well, it looks more like a standard automated cut and paste reply to me. From their business viewpoint, they won't integrate as long as the volume is not big but when this starts to go mainstream, I'm sure you don't even need to send an email asking them for a favor. They will voluntarily do it. But I'm sure like every big business entity they are monitoring the progress of bitcoin.

I don't understand why they don't do it already.
Sure, if no one did it before, it would be way to risky, but I mean even Microsoft is already in. What the hell are they losing except clients? eBay needs to get with the times as well, same for Steam.
3770  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Gavin "The Financial Crisis Is Over" Andresen correct, compromised, or crazy? on: June 25, 2015, 03:55:37 PM
He talks about the financial crises in bitcoin! -> Translation: Bearmarket is over. He knows a huge pump is coming and this is exactly why he is afraid, the blocksize limit could be too small.

Not really, it sounds like he's talking about the economy in the classic sense, nothing to do with BTC.
Im a proposal for a blocksize increase and like his model of 8MB of increase per 2 year schelude, but if this guy thinks the financial crisis is over then he has no idea whatsoever when it comes to actual geopolitics/economics. Let's not forget this guy is a geek/nerd at heart and not a geopolitical analyst.
3771  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: June 25, 2015, 03:52:54 PM
it depends to you, but if you ask me i need more than 1k to retire Cheesy

1K bitcoin or 1K dollar?

By the time you retire 1k bitcoin will be worth atleast 1000x more, i am very confident about it.

It's okay if you expect much bitcoin to needed when retire then, but the more important thing is what you will do to get bitcoin and collect it as much as you want. And also, it will be useless if we have much bitcoin in future but the price is drop a lot at the time.

I guess there are so many things out there that you can do to earn bitcoin, you just need to search it, and stop using it for unuseful things so you will

save a lot until your retirement time come. Many prediction said that in 10-20 years bitcoin price will hit around $1,000 so it is worth a try. Although it is

not hit that number, it should be around $500 so you will get profit too, it is just lower than $1,000

$1.000 is shit nothing. If BTC isn't 5 figures in 10-20 years it'll be dead. BTC aims to surpass Visa, Mastercard and Paypal, therefore, it's impossible that in 20 years BTC will be only $1.000. It's mathematically impossible that it isn't 5 figures by the time it surpasses them, if not more.
3772  Economy / Economics / Re: How to teach kids about Bitcoin? on: June 25, 2015, 03:42:44 PM
Kids could learn how money was invented and why it was invented in the first place, and how Bitcoin is the most advanced for of money, but never the technical details of it or how goes it work beyond sending and receiving coins.
3773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Deal Brings Bitcoin Option to Over 20,000 Japanese Retailers on: June 25, 2015, 03:31:26 PM
Great news! Due to the meltdown of MtGox, the development in crypto world is lagging behind a lot in Japan! Hopefully they will catch up soon!

Gladly I think even if Satoshi was japanese, and MtGox was japan based, Bitcoin wasn't big enough to affect alot of japanese people. The people that got scammed by MtGox got extremely frustrated with BTC and some are not coming back.. and can't blame them. I just hope japan becomes one of the main countries to go mainstream with BTC. They should be proud that the creator is japanese.
3774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the pro and con's about forking bitcoin? on: June 25, 2015, 03:27:48 PM
The biggest con to Bitcoin XT is the fact that Mike Hearn apparently wants to consolidate power over the blockchain via miners, and get the ability to freeze / blacklist bitcoins, as he mentions here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5979.0

I've been basically 100% Bitcoin for over 2 years now, but if that little proposal becomes reality, I'll be switching back to fiat immediately.

Yes, Hearn and Andresen are trying to do a power grab here that is a serious threat to Bitcoin as we know it. As they have stated more than once, privacy and decentralization are not their primary objective. They want adoption at any cost - even if that means Bitcoin will become effectively a Paypal 2.0.

The reddit crowd and many members here are cheering for a max_blocksize increase. They also want adoption at any cost, because they simply hope for a rapid increase in Bitcoin's value. However such kind of thinking is shortsighted and might ultimately lead to Bitcoin's death by allowing centralized control and surveillance of transactions by a limited number of full nodes.

People should remember the fate of The Bitcoin Foundation, which was founded by Gavin. The objections raised against an excessive max_blocksize increase are fully justified.

I will never support the Hearndresen-fork. But instead of switching to fiat I will stay with Bitcoin Core (bringing more nodes up).

Fork = Evolve and, Not Fork = Devolve

That's simply wrong. Most improvements do not need a hard-fork. A hard-fork without consensus does not signify evolution, it signifies separation. A hard-fork based on egoistic motives and/or false assumptions is devolution.

ya.ya.yo!

But you are assuming they will do a hard fork without consensus, which as far as I know is not the case.
They want the price to go as high as possible as high as possible, but they know that if they fork without consensus what they will get is the contrary.
3775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin proves incredibly strong against stress test even in infant r-type state on: June 25, 2015, 03:20:52 PM
Bitcoin obviously survived and it wasn't the end of the world, but the blockchain was bloated as hell and confirmations were taking hours. If anything, I think this test showed the necessity of a plan to scale the blocksize in the near and distant future.

There is a new test coming on the 29nd so lets see how result comes, I'm with you on what the test showed it took me 6 hours to get one confirmation thats where i saw why a bigger block size is needed to be future proof, any giving day bitcoin could turn into a the financial path for a nation in flames.

It seems some people out there don't believe that some people had tons of problems with transactions. They are deluded if they think we don't need bigger blocks asap. I mean if there is a single person having problems with 6 hour transactions now, it means we'll have guaranteed problems in the future when more people use it.
3776  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think bitcoin will reach it's $1000 mark again? on: June 23, 2015, 08:44:23 PM
only after it became world-spread, which is so unbelievable

Whats so unbelievable about it? it's actually inevitable. It will go worldwide including 3rd world countries. By 2019 it's expected that almost everyone in the world will have access to smartphones. The 3rd world countries will skip normal banking and go directly with crypto just like they did with cable internet and went directly to wifi.
3777  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will banks using bloackchain affect Bitcoin price? on: June 23, 2015, 08:38:43 PM
Banks using blockchain technology will raise awareness of cryptos, might bring more users into bitcoin, but not enough to move the prices. If banks use THE bitcoin blockchain, it will affect bitcoin price a lot, since they need to buy bitcoin to send transactions to the blockchain.

Using blockchain doesn't necessarily mean buying Bitcoin. The blockchain can be serve as trustless record ledger.

It doesn't mean buying Bitcoin directly, but you are using Bitcoin. If your infraestructure uses the blockchain, then it's using Bitcoin even if you think you don't directly. These miners are getting paid processing every transaction your bitcoin-blockchain based business makes, so you better hope that Bitcoin is healthy. This gives entrepreneurs using the blockchain an incentive to directly invest in BTC as well.
3778  Economy / Economics / Re: 62% of New Millionaires come from Asia on: June 23, 2015, 08:36:00 PM
if this is the case, china has no reason to hold bitcoin, their farms will dump everything, so with 60% of the network, more thank are being dumped each day

also their citizens are all over the world, is this article taking into account this? chinese are not only in china anymore

Yeah, tons of chinese are buying real state from other countries, sometimes funded by their governments (they give them money and tell them, go there and buy all of that). They are taking over the world, no wonder they are leaders in BTC mining.
If they aren't dumb as a brick they'll not dump all of their BTC wealth tho.
3779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the pro and con's about forking bitcoin? on: June 23, 2015, 08:34:14 PM
What a noob needs to know is mostly: don't panic, even if you were to be absent to all of this, you would never lose your coins. For example, if you were holding your coins since 2009, and come back in 2017, and a hard fork has happened were you require another client (like Bitcoin XT or whatever), you'll still have your coins on there because the coins get "duplicated" into the new blockchain.
Hard forks are always not desired for a number of reasons but if it happens because there is no way out, the users will not suffer a loss of wealth, so don't buy into the drama.
3780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are key scramblers effective in beating keyloggers to protect our btc wallets? on: June 23, 2015, 08:31:02 PM
I have no idea. I don't use any key scrambler. One of my friend told me that it's very effective to protect our bitcoin wallets from keyloggers. is it really Huh

which key scrambler is best ?

Please......

Interesting, never heard about this. Is there any firefox plugin that basically does this? Of course this wouldn't work for the local wallets..

but wouldn't using a virtual keyboard (clicking on the characters) a way to do this?

Virtual keyboards are no longer a safe way to input passwords. It's known now that some keyloggers will be able to know where you are clicking in the screen. It helps to beat the less ophisticate keyloggers, but it isn't the final solution.
