3761  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New S19, trying to connect to a pool on: July 08, 2023, 03:49:49 PM
New Antminer owner here and having trouble connecting to a pool.  Everything seems to be working fine, all chips are green the only sign I can see is the red abnormal connection.  The machine ramps up and kicks into high fan mode, then it shuts down a few seconds later.  It completes that process 2 times and then just runs on low fan mode and does not connect.  It seems to be a connectivity issue but I'm not sure.  Any information regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I am asking this to be moved to mining help section

3762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Jul 2023] Fees are low, use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: July 08, 2023, 02:38:28 PM
Use this if you can Smiley

Seems like at least someone has taken your advice:
https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/address/3JSdUu1ivm3rqMvuCTAdAj6Dc2hdVhHiEe

I've countered over 15k inputs being consolidated just here today, not spending time tracking if it's a tumbler or an exchange but this guy with his few addresses has used just today about 10 blocks today at least. While they will go down to 2-3 probably this weekend I doubt we will see too soon blocks with empty space, there are probably a ton of users waiting for this breather just to consolidate.

Also, a sudden increase in hash rate is also helping,
Current Pace:   106.2707%  (1472 / 1385.14 expected, 86.86 ahead)
86 blocks more than normal, about 8 blocks a day extra.

in the last two days we are plus 60 blocks so a lot of gear went on line.

Today: 30 year mortgage 7.7%, refinance 8.08%
Who's able to buy apart from cash buyers?

Still, prices do not show much of a decline (yet).
https://www.investopedia.com/mortgage-rates-jump-to-20-year-high-7557902
It still baffles me that people can afford to keep their houses with everything that's going on.. Either prices have to decline or things will go belly up very soon.

People with 2.75-4% mortgages are hanging on due to relatively low monthlies, unless their tax bill skyrocketed.

Maybe you did not exactly answer your own question, in regards to "when will the bottom fall out?" if that might be a fair characterization of your question - but aren't the best times to sell homes in the summer, so the end of this selling season comes in August/September, so might it not be fair to consider that a failure of the housing market (such as a bottom falling out) would be more likely to come after August/September rather than during the peak part of the yearly selling cycle?

Real estate fireworks in September or so?  Perhaps by August or September, individual owners are starting to realize that their houses are not moving, so they start to get desperate, in the event that they do not want to get stuck in their property for one more year.. so maybe the bottom starts to fall out in August rather than September or later?

I'm just throwing out random ideas.  I don't really claim to know much of anything.

See we can agree on a few things. Grin

Say we jump 25 and 25 total of 50 points. Will that crash housing? maybe maybe not.

But if we do 25 points in July and  25 points in Sept then drop 50 points in nov maybe housing starts to boom.

Sooner or later they will pivot. Its fun watching .

but there's no way for those with little or no funds to purchase hardwares, also ,i browsed alot  until i came accross nicecash what's your review about that

nicehash is okay for some.

many people rent there and point it at solo pool by ck.

it is essentially gambling at slightly unfavorable odds.

If in these times, do you think it is good to do solo mining now? Honestly, I haven't tried it, because I had been thinking that it will also be seasonal. But I'm not sure if I am right about this thing, that's why I asked you.

And about nicehash do you think it's a good start to solo mining in these times while we're bullish? Thank you for the answer to my question, God bless you Wink

Do I think it is okay to gamble at slightly unfavorable odds?

Yes if you don't have a gambling problem.
No if you do have a gambling problem.

You can spend as little as 0.001 btc to rent the gear to try to win a block.

But you can spend way more which is an issue if you have a gambling problem.

Only you know if you have issues with gambling.

if the odds were true 0.001 btc means about 6250 to 1 shot at a block

with fees and high rent demand the odds are not true which is why it is gambling not investing.

I would estimate your odds are about 7200-7500 to 1 and you get paid 6250 to 1.

So with "normal " luck you lose.

I think the “stability” we’re seeing in the market is a strong base being built on $30K. The dips below are getting shorter and shorter, so there’s clearly buying interest at that level. While I hate to be the guy to say it, I do think that in 10 months from now we will likely never see a Bitcoin price below $30K ever again in our lifetimes.

Now that’s a meritable post…..

Only already given 50/30 days

I gave him 18 merits
3766  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 07, 2023, 08:19:42 AM
IMO the narrative that the #bitcoinBTC spot ETF will bring in a whole new wave of capital is very overblown.

The largest gold ETF only has 56 billion dollars in AUM

For comparison, the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust *already* has 19 billion AUM. How much would a spot ETF move the needle?

Source

56 billion is about 3x 19 billion

so 3 x 30k = 90k

Why not?

Remember much of BTC is hodl

maybe 2 million coins are liquid of the 19 million mined.

We mine 900 a day  or 27 million fiat a day even if 20million fiat go right to ETF you are far from 56 billion. 100 days is 2.7 billion worth of coins. Far from 19 or 56 billion, IN  300 days then the ½ ing . 300 days gets us to 6 billion. So we are far short of demand of ETF (maybe)

So a jump to 90k is possible.
3767  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC Miner's Efficiency , Where Does it Stop? on: July 07, 2023, 04:13:02 AM
Just a quick search on the TSMC website that they already created 3nm chip process meaning this is crazy. maybe a more efficient ASIC is still in development.

"TSMC’s 3nm technology (N3) will be another full node stride from our 5nm technology (N5), and offer the most advanced foundry technology in both PPA and transistor technology when it is introduced. N3 technology will offer up to 70% logic density gain, up to 15% speed improvement at the same power and up to 30% power reduction at the same speed as compared with N5 technology. N3 technology development is on track with good progress. N3 technology will offer complete platform support for both mobile and HPC applications, which is expected to receive multiple customer product tape-outs in 2021. In addition, volume production is targeted in second half of 2022." - https://www.tsmc.com/english/dedicatedFoundry/technology/logic/l_3nm

3nm may be the end of the line.

https://www.ft.com/content/fbf52ede-e1a9-4797-9e52-3f80a7d855d9

but the article above claims 2nm for sure maybe lower.

There is a limit much like gasoline does not get 1000 miles a gallon.

chips will stop shrinking.

so 2nm is likely
1.5 nm is maybe
1.0 nm is iffy.

in terms of mining.
5nm is 20 watts
3 nm say 16 watts.
2 nm maybe 12 watts.

when and if we bottom out say 2nm the chips will be cheaper and cheaper and cheaper since the bottom was met.so ten years at the smallest size will make chips cheap.

thus more chips and underclock will rule.

maybe we see a 5 watt machine one day.
3768  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ViaBTC sms not receiving not processing withdrawal request on: July 06, 2023, 11:38:04 PM
I’d rather not switch to authenticator if I don’t have to. I’ll try your suggestion of reaching out to my service provider and see if that has any positive results.

If you don't want to use authenticator because you are boycotting Google products, you can use FreeOTP which is open-source and works fine.

This is their website if you want to find more infos about it : https://freeotp.github.io/

Otherwise, philip's answer could be a good solution for you. Playing with the autowithdrawal function is a very good way to avoid SMSes, you can turn it on only when you want to withdraw, and without SMS verification.

But with this solution you will need to be able to receive their SMS at least one time to activate the service.

Yeah When the account starts to have a decent amount I turn on the autowithdrawal

I just did 2 tests and they worked. Google voice and my regular number.

I know you know to check the rest but...

Does your phone provider have any SMS filtering?

Do you have any SMS / filtering on your phone even, can you check your block list? Make sure you did not accidentally mare the last text they sent you as spam. I did that once.

Did you reach out to them on social media instead of just opening a ticket?

Good luck.

-Dave

I unblocked all my blocked numbers just in case that was the problem but it Didn’t help. Haven’t tried reaching out on social media yet, but I did finally get an email response to my ticket. Just a generic response that’s says switch to authenticator if the sms issue continues

Also try setting up auto withdrawls vs manual they work better.

The three accounts I use are all auto withdrawl with low settings. It allows me to shut auto with drawl off with out sms it allows me to turn it back on without sms.

But if I want to change the autowithrawl address it wants sms.
I send all my coins to operate trezors addresses.

all on autowithdrawal.

I last turned auto withdrawal off JULY 1
I will turn it on today on July 6
I will turn it off on July 7

That ADP jobs report was total bullshit.

High paying jobs in finance and tech sectors actually decreased.

Minimum wage jobs and temp work at summer restaurants, theme parks and resorts don't count.

Those jobs will vanish again when summer is over.

Plus I'm sure the total jobs number was padded like hell.

The Fed just wants to justify more rate hikes, that is all.  Roll Eyes

Most people don't realize a lot of these rate hikes are a bailout for USA long term care industry.

The industry is very restricted in how they invest premiums and over the years the low fed bonds have crushed them.

The USA gov does not want to explain this to the public and you do not hear or read a lot about this 5 trillion dollar industry.

Since my bro-in-law got sick and has really really really really good policy coverage I got into reading about the entire industry.

In Nov-Dec 2021 and Jan 2022 fed bonds were next to nothing and every major company in LONG term care industry was next to bankrupt. Here we are Just about 18 months later all steady rate increases and the industry is recovering.

They need 2 more jumps July and Sept then flat or pivot by the fed for the the last 2 this year.

They will allow them to have there moneis ready to pay the aging baby boomers that are owners of these policies.

You won't find much about this anywhere but here on the WO from me.

I have more data and posted on this on the WO more than once.

Think of the baby boomers as the very large lump in a big snake as time moves on the lump will shrink and the long term care company won't need a high rate bailout for a decade or more.

I am lazy and could show all the numbers but just do research on 2 major company Say Genworth LTC and John Hancock LTC

Look are the bankruptcy risk analysis for them in

Dec 21
Dec 22
July 23

you will find both of them are now much better off the fall of 21

all due to rising rates.

The gov actively tries to force large money to move around by fucking with the rates.

hello guys! I’ve been soloing for a long time, but I can’t figure out how to understand that my miners have solved the block. I will be very grateful for the answer.

"bestever":           683,921,211,198

you need over  51,000,000,000,000

it turns out that if I add miners, my bestever will grow and there will be a chance to solve the block?
If you have an active miner or miners you have a chance to hit each and every single block.

but your percentage of the net work determines the odds to hit a block

the network is 380 eh or 380,000ph or 380,000,000th

So an s19 is about 100th your shot to hit each and every block is

100/380,000,000 = 1 in 3,800,000

10 s19's = 1000/380,000,000 = 1 in 380,000 shot for each and every block

so 144 blocks a day mean 1ph has a 144/380,000 = 1 in 2638 each day

Looks like the financial markets aren’t happy about the latest jobs report. The strong hiring numbers have taken some wind out of the sails of investors as it is evidence that the fed may still have some room left to tighten monetary policy, which will strengthen the dollar and send equity values downward. Amazing how good news is bad news in this new post 9/11 economy.

There is no doubt in my mind we get at least 2 rate hikes of 0.25%

Before fed pivots.

 For your info

Next hike is in around 3 weeks July 25-26 which falls on my late mom's 94th birthday

July       25-26 +0.25
Sept      19-20 +0.25
Oct/Nov  31-1  pivot move
Dec.       12-13 back the pivot up

We get that and BTC will whale in the fall.

Did they confirm to you that it was issues with shipping or was it issues with the product itself that has cause this failure to deliver? I really hope somebody get this product figured out because I’ve wanted to go immersion cooling for over half a decade now.
