3761  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Guide to check fees: Taker, maker, deposit, withdrawal, transaction fees on: February 19, 2021, 04:19:08 PM
The withdrawalfees.com website is really handy. It shows the minimum, optimum and median withdrawal fees for top cryptocurrencies which is very useful when we are sending cryptocurrencies from one exchange/wallet to another. I have bookmarked this site to quickly get to know the optimum withdrawal fees for any cryptocurrency. I wish there would have been an API for the same so that we could code a program which would send us the optimum withdrawal fee and the coin for which the optimum fees is lowest than the others.
3762  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am new here please guide me on: February 19, 2021, 04:04:23 PM
I have not experienced for this forum . Just I have registered here and next I don't know please help me how can I increase my rank and how can I earn btc and where will show my earning and how withdraw .
Hope that you will understand me like a family member and you will help of me.

Welcome to the forum. Almost everyone who made a post above has already mentioned that you should try to focus more on the learning part rather than the earning part.
This is because we have seen many newbies joining this forum just for the sake of earning bitcoin and never focus on what bitcoin is all about.
They end up joining fake bounties and get scammed or else get banned from this forum for breaking one or many rules.

What you should do is read through the forum rules already mentioned in the above posts and then get started with learning about bitcoin and blockchain technology.
Once you start learning you will soon realize that bitcoin is not about earning money but being able to control our money. You will learn many more things along this pathway.
You will gradually develop your knowledge which will improve your post quality. You will then get merits easily and rank up without any hassle.

You can easily join the signature campaigns on this forum or provide a skill that you have as a service and start earning.
But you should have full dedication and will to learn and grow yourself. If you follow this passionately this will really help you a lot in your life.
3763  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAmWATCH] Fake Elon Musk Medium 5000BTC Giveaway on: February 19, 2021, 03:43:28 PM
The words scam and Elon Musk are the most popular words being used daily in crypto space. Elon Musk is one of the most influential person in the crypto community. His name is being used by scammers to draw the attention of their victims believing to be legitimate Elon Musk. As days passes the scammer communities keeps improving on their strategy on how to scam people of their valuable assets. This below is another Fake Elon Musk giveaway popping on medium.

Wow scammers are up to date with the trend I guess. This giveaway is obviously too good to be true and it is always said in crypto communities that something that is too good to be true in crypto is fake. One easy trick to find out the obvious scam is to look at the balance in the bitcoin address displayed. The address only has 2 transactions totalling to 0.009 BTC.
If so many people had sent and received the giveaway there should have been many transactions on this address. I just hope these 2 transactions were from the scammer himself and nobody actually sent him anything.
3764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In the early days of Bitcoin ... on: February 18, 2021, 05:28:24 PM

I find it surreal in a way that you can be sitting today deciding 'do I buy 1 coin for $50k?' whilst only a decade ago you could have been mining dozens of them, essentially for free, on your home PC!  Yeah I know that's all with the benefit of hindsight, however it makes me smile nevertheless.

I wish I'd stumbled across it 10 years ago! Sad

You are in the community and you have the chance right here right now to buy and own a portion of bitcoin. Would you ?

What if you say the same thing i.e. "I wish I'd stumbled across it 10 years ago! Sad " after 10 years from now?
Bitcoin is at $50k now but what if it crosses $500k in the next 10 years and you might be screaming on this same forum about how stupid you were to not buy some bitcoins when you had the chance.

Life is all about opportunities mate. Grab it while you can !
But not with more than you can afford to lose.
3765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if the major holders of bitcoin all decided to sell it all? on: February 18, 2021, 05:19:07 PM
Isn't it quite simple ? There are only two possibilities here

If these people with huge amount of bitcoins decide to sell altogether the price will start declining but if there are buyers who keep buying at that price then the bitcoin price will not much.
The price fluctuation might be heavy but it will remain more or less the same. But the chances of that happening is very low because people will panic and start selling more.
This will result in a big red candle indicating a huge sell off. It will be a very good opportunity for people like us to buy  Grin
3766  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice games on: February 18, 2021, 04:39:38 PM
I had been playing dice games a lot in past few months trying out different strategies every now and then. To be honest, luck plays a major role most of the times.
Surprised someone saying luck plays a major role because as far as logic goes, luck plays the "only" role if you are trying to win against the house who has the bigger bankroll and an edge against the players.

Yes because I don't think there is certainty for anything. Luck does play a major role in gambling and we need it along with a strategy that works well for us.
If we have a strategy which works frequently well then it is a contribution to our win. If the strategy is not right then we tend to lose more.
So in my perspective we need both strategy and luck to get the results in our favor.

Haha, just what was needed !

On second thoughts, what if OP is indeed poor and trying to earn money but the scammers hired him for making such posts.
Little do OP know he might be getting scammed. May be if not OP but there might be others who would be facing such a scenario  Huh

Wait a minute, just found this

I guess OP is indeed a scammer.
3768  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: About my wallet! on: February 17, 2021, 05:01:56 PM
Looking at your post history it looks like you are from Romania and I am assuming you want to sell your cryptocurrencies and get the fiat amount into your bank account.
Well you can sell your cryptocurrencies anywhere for bitcoin and then go to Localbitcoins for a P2P trade and send your coins to a genuine seller in return for getting the fiat in your bank.
Also, if you a bitcoin ATM in your locality then you can withdraw cash from the bitcoin ATM as well.
3769  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Full Guide+Code]Seed Phrase & The Process of Deriving Bitcoin Addresses from It on: February 17, 2021, 03:54:38 PM
First of all, this is a very informative thread and definitely worth bookmarking for future reference. Although it's a little lengthy it's worth reading every sentence.
You have explained everything very nicely. I haven't finished reading the whole thread yet but I have crossed half the way and feel overwhelmed with the amount of knowledge in this post.
While reading the thread I observed that there are a few mistakes which might just be a copy-paste mistake but it disrupts the flow of understanding when a beginner like me reads it.

LEVEL 1: Deriving 45th hardened child of the Master Key (Since it's hardened, Master Private Key will be used)

~snip

Code:
Left 256 bits = 7fc9ce32a6aeffbeaf5057f266f0d6ed6383ed84f21c96d53c0c1e3838a87e24
Parent Private Key =  a0ccf14c939faa07b896cd5fb306a37fb3f9cb041196c5364d0cca9dbd82e53a
N = FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFEBAAEDCE6AF48A03BBFD25E8CD0364141 (n as defined)

Private Key of 45th Hardened Child of Master Private Key = ( Left 256 bits + Parent Private Key ) % N
Private Key of 45th Hardened Child of Master Private Key = 2096bf7f3a4ea9c667e7255219f77a6e5ccedba2546abbcfc9468a4925f5221d

Chain Code of 45th Hardened Child of Master Private Key = 81d4b120fcd3a11837e5d035fc508bb8b31c47285fdd7506d8d264144b4d8df7 (right 256 bits)

In the above step the value for Last 256 bits is different from the HMAC hash generated in the previous step.

Your HMAC output in Level 1 is
HMAC(message, key) = e9356507b5d275f724123f4053c602fee00c99c4874b63d1714c04ecc196b86cd895767e700af9e 8a8dab225a785d3299431b85298ca94a2628c542b26d96231

but the value for Left 256 bits = 7fc9ce32a6aeffbeaf5057f266f0d6ed6383ed84f21c96d53c0c1e3838a87e24

So either of the one output is incorrect here.
And there's one more thing that I observed

3770  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Email extortion/blackmail for Bitcoin. on: February 15, 2021, 04:19:48 PM
I hope you realize by reading the topic title what I want to say. I have seen a similar thread before but seems the scammer use a new Bitcoin address and I didn't found it by forum search. Scammer tries to blackmail by email. I received a spam mail where a scammer asking to pay BTC to secure and remove video recorded from my web camera. Lol, it was really funny to me. I don't care even he recorded something because I am not involved with sharing such as sexual content. The email was very long, so I don't think should post here and I think there would be malware as well. So I simply record the BTC address and delete the email.

This is the BTC address: 1PwonAt3HzdHmauZnfRe6tmwavhxYP1oSY
This was the sender email address: coilas@clubcoral.ru

There is seven reports of this address on the Bitcoinabuse. According to reports, most likely blackmailer gained emails from Ledger leaked database. So, don't be confused if you received such as mail. This is totally fake, scammer can't do anything. Good to see that the scammer's address doesn't receive anything. Just delete that kind of message from your spam folder.

This is where the latest laptops with privacy shutters come to the rescue. My laptop has a webcam as well but fortunately there's a privacy shutter too which hides the webcam.
I have never used the webcam since the day I bought my laptop.

As for the email, this is nothing new as we have already seen such reports a few years ago. Ignoring these emails and reporting it is the best way to tackle this situation.

But yes, it's always good to bring out such scams so that the newbies are aware of it.

3771  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don’t be lured by the promises of easy money! on: February 15, 2021, 04:08:19 PM
I guessed it right when I was reading that the scammer will top it up with some bitcoin and send the victim some chunks of it.
This is where a logical person would easily find out that something is definitely fishy. Why would someone send some bitcoin to an unknown person just like that ?

There's one similar kind of scam that I recently read about and the scammer here would send BTC to victim's account.
But here the scammer would send big amount of testnet BTC to the victim and ask for fees to access the account with tBTC.
The victim would fall for the trick he just has to pay a small amount and in return he would get more amount of BTC but later finds out that it is just testnet bitcoin and he can't really use it anywehere.

Every newbie should read this post and beware of such type of scams.
3772  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading Tips - Limit Orders on: February 15, 2021, 03:55:55 PM
The way you presented the information, newbies will never understand. You didn’t even share what does this keywords mean. You should  write all these in more details so that newbies can understand easily.

Forget newbies, it will get even the experienced, confused. For once I was thinking that the post is about patterns and not types of limit order.

OP it's very hard to distinguish the types of limit orders from your post. You will have to extract more info on the topic and present it in a clear way for the newbies to understand.
Do a little research and put in more content in the post with better images and examples of the particular trade order.
3773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you say you made money if you never actally sell your coins? on: February 15, 2021, 02:29:59 PM
Should you hodl forever?  Does everyone have a price?  What is yours?   Huh

Holding on forever completely depends on the individual as it is his choice whether he wants to hold it forever or not.
I would personally be holding some portion of my portfolio forever and even pass it as a legacy to someone who is worthy.

Also, bitcoin is not only meant for speculation. We can also use bitcoin as a currency and do the payment.
For example : Recently I purchased a book through bitcoin and also purchased a domain directly through bitcoin.
So yeah, when the price of bitcoin increases, we have to spend a lot less for the same product. This saves our bitcoins and thus it does help us make money.

But yeah, there's no point in holding bitcoin if you aren't gonna use it forever. You should be able to do something with it right.
That's why keep selling at times, keep spending it at times and keep holding some forever. That's what I think is right for me.
3774  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: social recovery wallets on: February 14, 2021, 02:15:32 PM
This could be provided as an option but should not be provided as the only way to sign transactions. A user should have both the options while creating a wallet

* Owning private key where the user is the only owner
* Social recovery

One thing that I personally don't like about the social recovery system is the 3 out of 5 guardians changing the signkey part.
It has to be at least a 4:5 ratio because the user will be sole person in the beginning to approve the guardians I guess.
These days the person we trust are the ones who cheat us. So the number of guardians and higher ratio, the better the security.

Even if the social recovery option is provided, I think most of the people will still choose the first option and control their addresses by themselves.

P.S : It just seems to me like a multi-sig combined with privatekey where multi-sig is able to generate a privatekey whenever lost  Grin
3775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice games on: February 14, 2021, 01:06:28 PM

Repeat until you made a decent profit and then most importantly quit for the day.
Quitting while in profit is the best strategy.

I am not so sure about the intuition part of your strategy since it is hard to quantify, but the rest of your strategy I like a lot. Especially the part about quitting when ahead. It took me a while to figure this one out myself, because I tend to play until I go broke for the day. I usually set my self a fixed limited for the maximum amount I am willing to lose on a day or in a week and then I just try to win as much as possible. In the end it is much better to just stop after a decent win and take the profit for the next day.

The intuition part is where the luck plays a major role right. Everybody who gambles needs to have a good luck inorder to win the bet.
Without luck no matter how hard you try, you will end up losing. What I do many times is when you double up the amount for the bet and keep losing continuously then just stop gambling for that day after 3-4 loses in a streak.

Remember this is where the extremely small amount of bets play a major role. When you lose the first big bet you have to reset the amount to extremely small bet.
Then keep rolling and when you think that the next bet might be a win only then double up the amount for the bet. If you still lose it, keep rolling with small bets.
So if you keep losing the big bets 3-4 times then stop gambling for the day because luck is not favoring you that day.

Try the same thing the next day or when you gamble the next time.
3776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If BTC were to permanently freeze at one price , would you buy ? on: February 13, 2021, 02:08:48 PM
A lot of people here think that if the price of bitcoin remains constant then many people will quit using bitcoin but I would like to mention that most of the businesses aren't using bitcoin because it's price is not constant. The price is highly volatile which is restricting many businesses to use it. If the price stabilizes then we will see a huge adoption of bitcoin since everybody will start accepting it as a payment. Why won't we use it ? It will help us facilitate cross border payments easily, it will eliminate the middleman, it 'might' help us avoid taxes and there are so many such possibilities.
The traders might not be able to take the profits out of bitcoin again but bitcoin will certainly become more useful than it would have ever been.

If de-merit existed, I would de-merit the followings:

In that case, I would have demerited most of the posts on this thread  Grin But the truth is, more than half of the people in the bitcoin community are in it just for the profits.  Cry
3777  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The paradox of small block size on: February 13, 2021, 01:33:52 PM
Help me out here, many say block size for bitcoin should be small for the little guy so he can afford to run a full node and not buy extra space but that same little guy has to spend over $10 to send a transaction in a reasonable amount of time, when $10 is days worth of labor in poor countries.

Bitcoin is designed in such a way that the blockchain size can only increase every day. So we would need drives with more storage space to run a full node for a longer period of time.
But we do have other options such as running a pruned node where the very old blocks are not needed to be validated and only the recent blocks are validated. This requires a lower amount of storage than the full node.

Transaction fees can be customized and need not necessarily be $10 every time. If you are short on transaction fees then you can always put a lower fee but you will have to wait for a longer time for the transaction to be confirmed. But yeah, increased transaction fees can certainly be a huge problem when the network is congested. If we put a lower transaction fee when the network is congested then it will probably take a very long time to be confirmed or until the network congestion is resolved and the transaction is mined.
3778  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice games on: February 13, 2021, 01:04:39 PM
I had been playing dice games a lot in past few months trying out different strategies every now and then. To be honest, luck plays a major role most of the times.
Still the strategy that worked frequently for me was

Keep extremely small bets and keep betting
Observe the pattern and when your intuition hits you that the next bet 'might' be a win for you
Then increase your bet amount to your desired amount that you can afford to lose (price 1)

If you win then reset the bet amount to the extremely small bet
If you lose then still reset the bet to the extremely small bet
Now when you think the next bet might be a win then increase your amount but this time double up the amount than you previously bet (price 1 * 2)

Repeat until you made a decent profit and then most importantly quit for the day.
Quitting while in profit is the best strategy.

3779  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BTC price VS gambling on: February 13, 2021, 11:59:25 AM
Well the rise in bitcoin’s price hasn’t affected me much because I was still gambling with my bitcoin until a few days back. But I am on a break from gambling right now since I used to spend more time on gambling and focus less on my other activities. To maintain the balance I took a break from gambling to focus on other tasks. Once all my short term goals are achieved I will resume gambling.

One thing I would like to mention is that yes the rise in bitcoin’s price does have an impact on gambling. Rise in bitcoin’s price is directly proportional to rise in withdrawal charges when paired to fiat. This is the only thing that concerned me recently.
3780  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: New Government Rules Mean No More Gambling Sponsorship on: February 13, 2021, 08:23:23 AM
May be it's because the Government thinks that having Jersey's with gambling advertisements will promote gambling sites publicly and may encourage many people to gamble which is why they don't want gambling sponsorships on sport jerseys. This might be right in a way. As for the gambling sites, I don't think it will impact them much as they can easily find other sorts of advertising mediums.
It won't affect the sports clubs also as they can find other sponsorships as well. So may be it won't be that big a deal after all or may be I am wrong.
