I hate reddit, probably because I dont understand it and dont want to ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) . Its not limited to reddit -> http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/copypastaThey are posting nonsense just to pick up their post count to rank up their membership to either A) Sell the account or B) Use it for signature campaigns or C) Use it to scam.
How do you A, B or C with an account that is banned after the first post?

The classic versions are still available here -> https://multibit.org/releases.htmlIf you want to switch to MB HD a transaction would be the safest way to transfer funds.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhdM4_iRHyEThis is a talk by a university professor entitled "The Economics of Bitcoin & Virtual Currency". In it she describes Bitcoin as a spreadsheet, states that Bitcoin is the first virtual asset (hasn't she heard of domain names?), and regards it simply as a means of transferring fiat currencies. It's dated June 2015, so it must reflect current thinking. If her ideas are prevalent, then we have a wonderful future in the world of Bitcoin. Well she also says "ledger" right after using spreadsheet. Its commonly used to describe the blockchain. I recently learned the word journal[1] might be a more fitting description though. There are many issues with the technical details in her explanations, the intro clearly stated that its not about how bitcoin actually works, but rather what it can be used for. She gives a fairly high level and rough explanation of how bitcoin works in order to get to the points that are important to her. # Fast transfer of value across the world without the need of an authority figure # possibly replace SWIFT with a digital currency system like RIPPLE (shes biased, because involved) # split checks without using cash by transfering small amounts among friends (e.g. via smartphones) # remittances with lower fees and without or with very low exchange rate risks # programmable payments # escrow for small amounts I dont think its that horrible if you consider the audience. Hi!
There is a sites listed in the hidden wiki, where you can buy amazon giftcards for half price. How can this be possible and are that serious deals or not?
The giftcards are very likely bought with stolen credit cards and will only be valid for a short time. The deal is serious in the sense that you will get a giftcard and pay bitcoin for it. Alternativle the giftcards are bought from people that see no or less value in them and resold for bitcoin. These giftcards would sell for over 50% though. Amazon money is not the same as regular money. While I wouldn't dare to try this because I don't want to become associated with "tainted" bitcoins, I am curious to know what others think of it and if anyone has actually tried it. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) "tainted" bitcoin?

This is potentially dangerous as you will handle an unencrypted private key. Anyone that can access the key, can spend the funds.
We assume "password123" is your wallet password and "1address" is the bitcoin address you received funds on. If you have multiple addresses, repeat for each.
#1 start core #2 goto it console: Help -> Debug Window -> Console #3 enter walletpassphrase password123 120 to unlock the wallet for 120 seconds. #4 enter dumpprivkey 1address to export the private key. It will be shown in the console and look similar to this 5Jhb7caS4m4F7YizAtM2e9Ldy6sUkPAHc3J7P3E6v7fMAZi56in #5 open your bc.i wallet #6 goto Import / Export #7 click I Understand #8 put the private key where it says Import Private Key and click Add Private Key #9 select Sweep Key

Whats the job of an escrow is the most important question to ask here in my opinion.
An escrow is someone that the seller and the buyer trust, someone that is risking a reputation in order to make a deal happen. At least thats my understanding of what an escrow should be. In this case a 2-3 multi sig is perfect. If the buyer and seller agree the escrow has no job to do. If there is a dispute the escrow can step in, hear both sides and make a final decision to resolve the conflict. This is already the case, if everything is fine the escrow only holds the funds while one side of the deal checks the goods or waits for delivery. Once its confirmed the funds are released. Instead of an escrow holding the funds alone, all involved hold the funds together.
x out of y can be a viable option if multiple parties are involved or several escrow agents or mediators are needed or wanted. I dont think this would be common though as there are limits to the number of keys you can use for multisig before your transactions becomes non standard.
About the educational issue, that users might be required to learn something in order to trade, I dont think its a problem. Multi sig is not all that complicated, the question is whether or not your normal wallet can be used.

Thanks for the informative post! But not all faucets are bad. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) No, certainly not. Just take care, some are.

This guide above pretty much says it all, but i will add that signing works through PGP encryption. You could learn about that because u can sign message without bitcoin involvement at all.
Can you post a link where PGP encryption is being discussed like the thread created by Shorena There is no such thread yet. I was asked several times to create something similar for PGP, but I have not done anything yet. Maybe velkro wants to create a PGP how to? I dont know.

You have a PM. Due to the nature of the deal Id like to keep this private unless necessary. I probably should have messaged you first instead of only leaving a rating. Sorry. If what you say is true we can surely solve this quickly.

-snip- Why not just store all my Bitcoins on blockchain.info? I don't want anyone else to have access to my private keys.
I'll have to poke around with this later and see what we can do...
Vanity addresses can be created without anyone else knowing your private key while at the same time allowing someone else to do the majority of the work. Its called split key vanity gen. Let me know what prefix you want for the address and I can make you an offer.

IMHO yes, because its posted in a self moderated thread and the discussion there is offtopic to the thread. If the archive is enough for you, feel free to ignore this thread.

Thanks for the warning(even though I don't use altcoins). Another thing that I might add is report such posts to the moderators using the (similarly named) feature, with the comment as "Malware , virustotal link: LINK", as any posts containing malware are not accepted in the forum. I usually report them as well, I didnt get around to it yet. Darkwallet is no alt coin though, its a chrome plugin wallet for bitcoin that focused heavily on anonymity (build in stealth addresses (can be reused without compromising privacy) and coinjoin sending). One of the main devs has vanished a while back, I honestly though the wallet is back. Either with a fork or the original dev team. Didnt have the time to check though.

wow, a scammer is going to pay something. now no worries, he is gonna get more neg reps ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) and lets see how many people he can pay ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) What should I suggest? 0.01 so you get double what you lost for your trouble? 0.06 (0.03*2) for ~PayPal-Trader~ and 35 USD skrill twice would be 0.1655 btc at current rate so total 0.2355?

Master-P is having some troubles so don't expect any payouts this week.
Its hardly the fault of those participating in the campaign now, is it? On the other hand, what worse can happen to the manager? Get negative trust?
