That's how support should work. They found your post and responded on the forum. They didn't have to know about it, because it was in the beginners & help section, instead of service discussion or scam accusations, and made sure it was handled in the right way. I wish all exchanges worked like that.

does that mean that all exchanges would have to have officials to go do research on Google to see if there are scam accusations against them? this would be very strange because if some exchange does this, then they know they are ignoring the support tickets and to stifle the case they look at google if someone is telling the world what they are doing and with that they run to clean the image of them. this is bad

No, there's no such need or obligation, but I'm appreciating that they are doing it and finding time to respond. The ticket should be taken care of first, but in this case it was. The client felt like it wasn't so he came here to complain and they followed him to answer, which helped solve the case and put him at ease. I fail to see bad practices here.

3783  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why people don't vote? on: November 02, 2018, 01:34:29 PM
The main reason why I stopped voting was lack of parties that represent my values. I mean there are libertarian parties and I used to vote for them, but they don't stand a chance. They are always below 5% and this has been going on for decades.
For some reason people like to be ruled, they like when others are making the decisions for them, and when they're given a false sense of security and a false sense of freedom. There are usually 2 major political parties (depending on a country) that share the power. When people get fed up with one they choose the other one, not knowing that they both are almost one and the same thing.

People can't be trusted to make their own rules because it becomes anarchy and endangers everyone else.

So you will make the rules for them? That's how authoritarian governments come to power.
I once saw a guy who manages pension funds on TV and the reporter asked him why there are no voluntary pension funds but it's being collected like a tax, and he replied: because we can't trust people, they are too stupid and lazy to save money, we have to make them do it. It's for their own good.

Is that really the attitude that you support? This social protectionism? Shame...
(I know it's off-topic, but I just had to reply when I read this part)

For now we have sportsbet but it's only for Sr members and above. Sometimes there are campaigns that accept new participants but I don't update the table immediately since it's going to be full later that day.

I'd argue whether this campaign should be enlisted, due to the way it's being operated. It's free advertising for the manager who says that it's open, but doesn't add anyone to the list for a week or more, at the same time stating that if they don't post with his signature after applying, they won't be added. People post with his signatures and after some time he announces that nobody got in, but they still have a chance if they keep posting. IMO this is not how a reputable campaign should be managed.
3785  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion - Health index for topics to stop spam megathread/bumping on: November 02, 2018, 10:45:25 AM

No idea how and if it can get abused so +1.

That depends on whether the box could be checked and unchecked multiple times. To know how this is going to get abused you have to add it and the scammers will find a way and show it to you in no time.
If they could self moderate and then remove the option it would be a great tool for scamming. Somebody comes with a negative comment? Just switch to self moderated, delete it, switch back, so that people will see the thread as open and unmoderated, and will not suspect that you're cleaning it up. It won't work forever because the next day people will come asking where their posts are, but the possibility remains and at least some of them won't come back to argue.
Adding the option to permanently switch to self moderated should be fine.

3788  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much bitcoin should you buy? on: October 17, 2018, 01:00:48 PM
I see that "as much as you can afford to lose" is the prevailing answer. It's not as bad as they're saying. If you invest, you won't lose 100%. Even if Bitcoin goes down to 3000 USD you will only face 50% loss. All of it won't instantly disappear. A 50% loss at this point would take months and give you enough time to exit.
You can invest as much as you want but I'd aim towards getting at least 1 Bitcoin.
3789  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Ripple (XRT) unseat Ethereum (ETH)? on: October 17, 2018, 12:16:47 PM
This is very possible to happen. As it seems now, Ripple is a great threat to ethereum, and there is a high chance of the coin unseating ethereum, and I don't think that this would come as a surprise to anyone. But ethereum will give ripple a run for this seat though, it doesn't seem like it would just let that happen so easily.

What are you rambling about? XRP and ETH are 2 different coins that have nothing in common. XRP was supposed to integrate banking and cryptocurrencies but it's been years and not much has happened. So, XRP is failing in its own purpose. Do you even know why XRP is said to be centralized? It's because if they don't like you they can freeze your coins. You depend on the network and the network is controlled by a company (Ripple Labs). Even the founder of XRP left the project and started Stellar. XRP is nothing but a speculative pump and dump scheme.
3790  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Selling merit! on: October 17, 2018, 11:36:10 AM
A quick reminder for potential buyers. If you get caught buying merit nobody will want to have anything to do with you. To conduct any business on this forum you will have to start over again. Also, there's nothing that stops him from scamming you. He'll get paid and not merit you or he'll merit you and report you for buying merit to staff.
It's not worth it.
3791  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitfinex - new page: "Fiat on Bitfinex" on: October 17, 2018, 11:04:33 AM
Tether is about to experience a blow as far as I am concerned and all these shenanigans won't last long and no matter how they want to try to cover it all up, nothing will every stop it from imploding with their shady deals.

Bye bye tether indeed! They are just trying to tell us they are probably not just printing tether from nowhere and every tether is backed by real cash, I guess only if they allow themselves to be audited and they can prove that, there is no way on earth I will ever believe what comes out from the mouth of those people. Obviously, the thing that happened with USDT recently made them to say whatever they have to say to cover it all up.

So why don't they do it? I mean if they're legit and have tether backed like they're saying it shouldn't be a big deal to hire someone to do the audit and vouch for them. And i'm not talking about some small time private contractor but a large company that does it professionally like Deloitte.
The more they're trying to buy time the worse the value of USDt will be and competing stable coins will keep gaining. If they keep avoiding this it will mean they don't have it backed and are going MtGox on us.
3792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now here's a guy really pissed at bitcoin/blockchain... on: October 17, 2018, 10:27:48 AM
He's saying that libertarian values are an utopia. Can you really act like a smart person who wants to prove a point and at the same time be so ignorant? It looks like you can.
Thinking that we need more freedom with our finances, less government intervention and less agency snooping is to him an utopia. Hes nothing but a slave born and raised who doesn't question anything.
3793  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-14]Bank of Zambia Warns Cryptocurrencies Are “Not Legal Tender” on: October 16, 2018, 10:14:31 PM
Do you think a weaker currency could peg to btc in order to stabilize against those loans which are probably in usd? I know the marshall islands tried to make the SOV and was hit with a pretty strong backlash from the IMF and venezuela has its oil backed petro but hasnt yet seemed able to stop any of the pain from the hemorrhaging bolivar. I just dont see the world bank/imf/g7 playing nice and allowing these independent cryptocurrencies to just start popping up everywhere and threatening the petrodollar. interesting times.   Undecided

In case of Venezuela people are not buying lies of their president. Petro is like an ICO, it has to gain interest of the public to become worth something. Without it it's just a piece of code that nobody wants to use. Think of all those android games being developed every year. Many of them don't get downloads and become abandoned by developers. Same thing will happen to 99% of altcoins, and that includes Petro. If a country is in economic ruin launching a cryptocurrency won't help.
3794  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin Setting Up For A Bull Run? on: October 16, 2018, 09:38:26 PM
most of them times these people whom you call "experts" are no more than newbies trying to gain some fame and make themselves be heard or sometimes try to manipulate the masses into something that benefits them.

right now we have no reason to expect a bull run in short term. there will be a big bull run eventually and price will hit a new ATH, possibly near $100k this time but the start of it is not clear.

Some experts who do it professionally get it all wrong almost every time. CCN experts are among of the best in failing to predict Bitcoin moves.

Do some research on why we had a price increase yesterday. It was because of rumours about USDT. Not because of organic demand.

So, are we setting up for a bull run? No one knows. People and news sites have been saying the same crap for months. Stop giving them too much publicity on such crappy articles.

You're right but despite all that Bitcoin price moved above the descending triangle. This means that to those who rely only on TA Bitcoin is clearly displaying a bullish pattern.
It's not only on Bitfinex but the average price among all exchanges is above the triangle. If people read it as a breakout we should see a small rally at least.
3795  Economy / Economics / Re: How can we get people to use bitcoin as a currency? on: October 16, 2018, 08:59:30 PM
This has been a rhetorical question for quite some time now, and as what I'm always saying, we need more places to spend, not the volatility to be gone. Bitpay and similar services exist, so there's really not enough reason for merchants to be scared of volatility if there are processors who handle those said issues. Most of the time, people use bitcoin for speculative purpose since the incentive is always present for them; opportunity to profit is never absent, but the places to spend those bitcoins are nonexistent, so they are only left with one economical and practical choice.

You can't stop volatility just like that. As long as large amounts will remain in the hands of whales, and as long as there are very few options to spend coins, without being forced to use an exchange, the volatility will be there. Typical fiat money will not enter the market affecting charts every time someone buys a plane or a yacht. It goes to the seller and the seller goes to another seller, who provides him with raw materials to start another project and pays his employees, who then go to another place to buy food and pay mortgage. A typical dollar bill can circulate for 10 years and never touch a currency exchange.
3796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can we stop Bitcoin's negative publicity?-Rebranding. on: October 16, 2018, 07:44:25 PM
"Rebranding" cannot occur until bitcoin starts gaining in price again.  That's the only way the "rebranding" will work for the masses.

It's already gaining value again. Did you see the charts on Monday?

Rebranding will never work. There are many reasons for that.
-people don't want it
-you won't be able to reach a consensus
-It's not needed and wouldn't change anything. Most of the world would know that this new coin called digital gold or whatever is bitcoin. You wouldn't fool anyone.
-It would only give altcoins that want to be Bitcoin like BCH what they want: more confusion that would allow them to make people think they're buying the real Bitcoin when they're investing in their altcoin.
3797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If the BTC crash, will it take every other coin with it? on: October 16, 2018, 07:11:18 PM
Whatever happens to the price of bitcoin is what happens to the entire market. We need more money to concentrate on bitcoin in order to get back up. If bitcoin doesn't work well then all the other coins on the market certainly don't work well which isn't good for us.

I have to agree with this. The way the market is built, it relies on Bitcoin as the main promoter. Altcoins don't matter in a situation where laws are being built around bitcoin and with bitcoin in mind. Many people who aren't very well informed see cryptocurrency market as Bitcoin and think that altcoins are just a clone of Bitcoin. If the oldest and most popular cryptocurrency would crash to very low levels you can be sure that some altcoins would cease to exist and the rest would lose 90% of value.
3798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Anyone Else See This? on: October 16, 2018, 06:30:46 PM
I like it. Mentioning crypto is always good, even if it's only in a joke. It's interesting that they're doing it now, when Bitcoin is in what looks like consolidation phase.

Google always acts only in their own interests. In Google, there are large departments of analysts who predict all these situations in advance. When for Google will be profitable for something else, it will change its opinion on this.

I think that they wanted to use something that is popular and controversial at the same time. Plain old boring ads never become a conversation topic.
3799  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-15] Bitcoin Price Jumps by 11% to Reach One-Month High Above $6.9k on: October 16, 2018, 05:32:51 PM
The Bitfinex cold wallet volume decreased by 20% in 10-15 days. Bitcoin reached $6,900 but only for 2 hours, so. But if Bitfinex is the direct responsible then we can expect more this week of the next one. Yummy, finally a long period of green! At the same time, I smell a good old drama story coming...

2 hours is enough to liquidate shorts and I think that there were 2 reasons for this sudden spike. The first one was Tether that pushed some scared individuals to buy Bitcoin with all their USDt. This liquidated shorts and made the price go even higher. I think it's still fine because thanks to this we've defended 6000 once again. Maybe this will be the beginning of a new rally like the one we had in August?
3800  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 229: Khabib vs McGregor Prediction and Info Thread on: October 16, 2018, 04:57:45 PM
Did you hear about that offer Khabib got from 50 cent? They're offering him money to leave UFC and go to Bellator and it could work because his teammate got kicked out for jumping into the ring and attacking Conor and will now miss an upcoming fight. People are pointing out that Conor didn't get kicked out for his recent bus attack.
There's bigger money in Bellator right now. 50 cent is going to pay additional 1 million USD to whoever gets the belt.
