3781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with nonsignificant altcoins on: January 19, 2021, 05:56:46 AM
I see the point in trading against the dollar, altcoins have much less good correlation with BTC, you will simply lose on the course.
If I were you, I would not complicate my life, and traded only to the USDT and the like.
Well said. Why focus on things that are not going to be anything in future but a rolling ball of despair and hopelessness?

Truly altcoins and tokens have been snowballing many investors who are manipulated in buying them and wasting their money hoping to see it as the next big thing in crypto.

While I admire the risk taking attitude, this becomes a stubborn thing to do. If someone does not want to focus only on bitcoin they can try other sectors of investment in the fiat market too. But not altcoins just because they are "other forms of crypto".
3782  Economy / Securities / Re: Transaction between community members on: January 19, 2021, 05:40:00 AM
Okay thanks for your contributions, I know already because lot of people on the group are not really trusted. However, I was saying of initiating transaction with hunter over here on the forum that was the only fear in me if I wouldn't be tag of anything else.
If that was the case you would be having a large number of false positives of this type and nobody would be innocent that way Cheesy. Hence you don't have to worry about that. Still what you could do is use different addresses for each receiving transaction and not re use an old address. This does not save you from chain analysis experts though.

But even then if you have not done anything that is dishonest you should not have to worry. We have so many users sending and receiving coins everywhere and are they being accused? No. Hence you also don't need to think on this.
3783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that planned pump and dump is ethically acceptable? on: January 18, 2021, 09:54:19 AM
Correct, which is why no one should try to trade those coins, it has been a known fact for a very long time that you cannot use technical analysis in small markets effectively and most honest books that you can read about trading will specify that pump and dumps are precisely the reason, in markets in which a single movement of a whale can move the market up or down technical analysis becomes meaningless and even if whales are powerful in the market of bitcoin they can be counted by other whales or retail investors.
You can still trade in the top 10 altcoins. At least their market cap is comparable among each other and higher than the shitcoins that go 400% gains overnight. But these are not the coins to hold on to for long term. They are supposed to go up and go down without warning, even in the middle of the night. Making all of them a much more risky asset to hold than what bitcoin has become.

Bitcoin may drop but we have confidence that it will go up again. We can say this for certain but can we do that for altcoins? No. We will be doubting that.

This is why the fear level in altcoin market is also high. It takes just a small cap whale to dump and make the rest of the retail investors go crazy with fear. Hence my suggestion to keep altcoins to a minimum.
3784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: altocoin inovations on: January 18, 2021, 09:47:48 AM
Also thinking about innovations solving problems that came up with the development and broader adoption of bitcoins original concept, things that come to mind with this is hard-forks, 51 attack, mining energy consumption and anonymity
like satoshis original white paper concept...
Now all these ideas to make all the problems disappear seem very rosy to anyone who is new to this currency and finding out about its pros and cons. But trust me, the same things have been spoken several times before and attempted or faked to be changed but nothing happened in reality, except some investors having lost their money.

What is true is that bitcoin has problems but it's advantages outweigh the problems. No single currency is one and only but bitcoin is close to that.

Even then an altcoin is never going to take position close to bitcoin so much so that it becomes a good store of value.
3785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: KYC for bounty hunters on: January 18, 2021, 09:43:15 AM
You should know that you do not need your own personal documents to pass kyc because fake documents you can be created. On the other hand the amount of good bounty has decreased so many hunters will not agree to participate if you make kyc compulsory. Personally I don't want to waste my time to pass this kyc because the amount of best bounty is less and there is no money.
True many cheaters will use methods to circumvent but the kyc verification services are also very careful. They get the verification data from other sources and rarely make mistakes. However if they can be fooled or not is not known to me. I doubt suspecting them to be able to pass fake kyc without proof is going to prove anything. We don't know for sure since no real cheater would actually reveal this.

Anyway I agree that bounties are nowadays a waste of time. Still there are many people still going for them and hence a method needs to be there to prevent fraudulent activity. How this can be done is tough for me to say.
3786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with nonsignificant altcoins on: January 17, 2021, 07:37:03 AM
I'm talking stuff like Monero, XLM, etc. With BTC so high, does it make more sense to trade them for BTC, or for USD?
Monero though has some usage being a privacy focused coin. But does it have any effect of whether you put your money in it and it goes down? Does that privacy focus help you make back your money? No.

In a sense, privacy is important but the level of paranoia in this sector is too much and that hurts the retail investors. In my opinion, there is no need for a separate crypto just for privacy. Bitcoin is enough.

Of course it makes more sense to sell them for USD or BTC whichever is lower that time so you get more of what you are selling it for, then use it to finally get BTC or keep the USD to spend as you wish.

Reduce your portfolio in crypto to bitcoin only. The altcoin craze is long gone and so is the ICO, DeFi craze. They are all hyped based methods to take your money.
3787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will ALT have ATH again? on: January 17, 2021, 07:28:51 AM
It is difficult to say if they will reach a new ATH in future. But this can be said with a lot of confidence that majority of altcoin projects are failures or abandoned by its devs or just sold off to someone else who pumped and dumped its tokens and left.

If you have been following the top50, I would say you have been very lenient and magnanimous with altcoins. I dont care to even look beyond the top10 excepting the forked coins and centralized coins. Because they are not worth your attention or money.

Altcoins ride the waves secondary to bitcoin and they are never making any progress of their own. The only point I can still find out worth being plus for them is a lower transaction fee when bitcoin gets congested. Merchants dont go with anything beyond LTC, DOGE or ETH.

It does not make any sense holding anything else for long term. Sell them when you get profit and move to other sectors of investment not just crypto. Wink
3788  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best way to buy / sell? Nothing but bad luck so far. on: January 17, 2021, 07:21:40 AM
Yes, probably in the next 10 years you can see the same ROI for the current price.
Bit early to say but seeing the price rise, probably the people back in 2009 were speculating in the same manner about the price as well and now if they had been holding from 100$/BTC to 40k$/BTC - that is a massive profit if they manage to hold for this long and sell it as well. The only thing that one needs to keep in mind is not to get swayed by people who keep talking shit about everything and have a negative view to everything in life.

Your interest in Bitcoin is making profit and hence you buy at low and sell at high. Dont listen to people who try to discourage you from doing so, they never got into bitcoin because of their own little insecurities and now they are jealous of you.

Still one of the problem what we face, is getting a proper exchange to trade, for many countries out there this is tough.
3789  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I meet a problem. send BTC to Huobi on: January 16, 2021, 05:43:28 AM
Transaction is still unconfirmed, probably due to the miner fees being low even after doing RBF. There is really nothing you can do on your part, eventually the transaction will get picked up by some miner and it will go through, till that you have to wait.

No need to panic about it, because your money is not going anywhere.

Keep a track on this page - https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/tx/d6103699c9066e34f5ccc88bdecf20d9567aea16a51804456a05b5d2120b92a1/

Also for bitcoin fees estimation check online for the current average fee amount for a decent speed of transaction first before sending.
3790  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: precious metal dealers who accept bitcoin? on: January 16, 2021, 05:37:00 AM
are there other gold dealers who accept bitcoin---preferably not through bitpay?
I have seen threads pop up in the "Goods" section of this forum for precious metals, bullions, gems, pricey watches and so on. Probably these are the only few who will accept a p2p trade thus going away from all the KYC/Payment processor things in the middle.

Some of them are even older users with good trade history and reputation, so it might be worth checking them out if you get time, you might have to look through that section and its cesspool of threads before finding a legitimate one and that too if they are still selling or not.

Just make sure to use an escrow if you finalize on doing the trade.
3791  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best way to buy / sell? Nothing but bad luck so far. on: January 16, 2021, 05:32:56 AM
Whenever the bitcoin prices spike, I see a couple of accounts being created and making such a thread crying about their big loss, many times about MtGox or some other exchange hack. Might be purely a coincidence, because nothing can be proven here being the internet.

I would still suggest going for the legal route in the MtGox incidence. No idea what condition it is in currently but fact that you never did get involved in the money lost makes me wonder.

For investing, there is on hard and fast rule as to when you should invest. Currently the price is high, hence not the time to buy if you are thinking to, rather the time to sell. By now you should have understood this much.

Buying from top exchanges is what I prefer to suggest, possibly one where you can get verified easily and what your local users commonly use so you can get a backup team to support when things go wrong there. Problem you might have with p2p exchanges is the lack of sellers/buyers at ATL/ATH prices respectively.
3792  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Ponzi Scam Finnex.io promoting on the forum. on: January 15, 2021, 05:55:28 AM
Raise the flag OP, they made the mistake of going down the evil path and choosing the scam people of their money instead of working and earning money, hence they need to be branded with the mark of shame.

10% return in 10 days means 100% return in 3month+10 days = doubling of money and that is not possible unless you are a ponzi scammer yourself. Grin

They say their location is here
Code:
2nd Floor Broadgate Circle,
1-2 Broadgate, London, United Kingdom, EC2M 2QS

Checked on google maps, but we need someone who is local to know whether this is legit or not, does Broadgate shopping mall have a investment scheme shop run by Russian named individuals too? Roll Eyes [Russian names are found in the lower right chatbox]

I checked the company number but I dont know is this information is just plain data put in by anyone who wants to or if it can be worth a satoshi. There is mention of one officer who runs this place and that is NOT a Russian, check the following -

3793  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Double Bitcoin Mycoins2moon on: January 15, 2021, 05:41:40 AM
These doubling scams work nicely on newbies because to them bitcoin is some Holy Grail of making money and they are themselves greedy about making money quick. They have been here since a long time just changing to new domains and shutting down the old one.

Is there a way to report this to NameSilo? They might be able to confiscate the domain back.

Also what about PMing the user who posted the thread? In case they ghost the PM, add a flag on that account.
3794  Economy / Speculation / Re: What you'll do when BTC price will go down heavily and fast? on: January 15, 2021, 05:33:56 AM
why convert to stable coins and not fiat?
Since the market prices are based on crypto<>fiat, say you sold bitcoin at high and the fiat value of that coin is still low if you bought back you could theoretically shift to a stablecoin for the time being till the market drops again to buy back at a greater multiple value. Check yourself what Dollar cost averaging means and you might get a better idea.

See if you want to make great profits then you need to gamble with your money.
I dont think that is going to promote the proper sentiment. You dont "gamble" with your money, but take calculated risks based on previous market metrics. Gambling here will mean pertaining to a casino to the users of this forum. Grin

My strategy might not be pretty impressive, but yes that’s what i will do .
Logically that is what everyone should try. The difficult part is staying on track with the buy low sell high idea.
3795  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What to avoid as a beginner in trading Bitcoin? on: January 15, 2021, 05:29:32 AM
I agree with this. Those too-good-to-be-true ROIs are really not legit as they are just screwing naive users.
Coming from the traditional stock market background a newbie in the crypto market may be less informed about the degree to which scamming occurs in this sector. The nature of it being unregulated only opens up many more avenues of scams to such an extent that only bitcoin becomes the legitimate thing ever.

In true sense, you can buy a shitcoin and pump it up to sell but bigger whales out there who are never going to come to this forum, are out there and they will burn out any new fry before they can make their profit. So if you want to play it safe, go with bitcoin, keep track of your buys and sells and follow up with gradually increasing your assets.

Use any exchange that you feel comfortable with, does not need to be the biggest one out there.
3796  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What to avoid as a beginner in trading Bitcoin? on: January 14, 2021, 06:07:16 AM
Does journaling truly help ?
Keep logs of your trades is a good habit, IMO. You can go a bit further and do analysis on your previous trades to determine how you normally respond to market movements and judge if that yields a better or worse result.

Just asking the question wont help if you dont try it yourself. Most users I have seen started doing it for a couple of weeks and then moved away with statements like "too boring" "so much work, so little profit" - trading is not a get-rich-quick scheme, it takes time to learn and apply and still you will end up making mistakes.

Still if you are not willing to work that hard, you could just buy at low and sell at high. Now the words low and high are relative and this needs a bit of insight from your side as to what is a good price to buy for you. My eye-catching low would be under 8k USD and anything beyond 20k USD would be high, if I am being greedy. Grin

You can choose your own levels but keep a track of buys and sells because often one does not follow the other - you might find yourself buying many times because price will dropping and then having to hold all those positions for long time before being able to sell them.
3797  Economy / Economics / Re: The recent rise in prices, temporary or more long term? on: January 14, 2021, 05:56:52 AM
If I look at the technical basis, the RSI is currently Over Bought and there should be a correction. I haven't seen an RSI below 30 in a while. Bitcoin should undergo a correction at the support point to meet the GAP. Yet many speculators say bitcoin will continue to pump. high risk when trading in the current market
Those who are saying that it will pump higher are scared that it might drop. Must be bagholders who are now feeling the heat because they forgot to sell at 40k and now watching the 34k price.

One bad thing that I noted was that since the pump was astronomical, the support levels between these price tags were not high yet. Hence the reason why they drop very quickly once they pump super high. Still the 33-34k USD prices are being held and lets assume this to be the next support level for now if we dont drop further.

Hoping to see more drastic changes in price soon before it becomes stable.
3798  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Expose] Hourpayinstant.biz Hype Ponzi Project on: January 14, 2021, 05:53:27 AM
They have set up this site professionally. Design looks super cool. It is also not surprising that people then fall for this.
At least they could use this type of designs to prepare websites that actually do something good and provide a service instead of developing more scammer pages.

But yes it takes looks to fool a newbie and they know that and hence they prepare such websites. I am sure they are getting a good amount from scamming otherwise the finances for hosting and developing the next site would be low, which in reality is not.

These guys no longer create threads in this forum but this is the only to expose them and make sure someone out there gets saved from being scammed. Remember that scammer never cease to exist but precautions can be taken by anyone.
3799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: altocoin inovations on: January 13, 2021, 06:18:58 AM
One of the altcoins asset is the utility of token. There are projects that are really good in the form of utilization. There are others too that arises and being known good specifically the defi projects.
You mean "Utility token"? Agreed that they are supposed to have a usage and thus should drive a market demand. Everything theoretically seems correct, but why did they not work out and earn a spot in the top 10 cryptocurrencies?

Simple reason, they never can compete with mainstream projects that do the same thing. Added to this the lack of acceptance of crypto in many countries and internal team conflicts about future development of the project. They all end up the same way, devs abandon the project and then whales cash it out after pumping and dumping.

Quote
Uniswap was one of the best altcoin utilization where its project is working good as well.
Uni is a DEX for tokens. It has its token too but I prefer not to use it.

However, bitcoin is really the great coin of all in the crypto market.
The only coin you need is bitcoin. Rest all dont need your money.
3800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: KYC for bounty hunters on: January 13, 2021, 06:14:19 AM
Agreed but anyone has their own opinion and i have done a deep research to the team before. People should try to make sure if the party can be trusted.
Crypto ICOs and all are shady stuff. You cant trust anyone here when it comes to your personal data. Bounty hunters are forced to undergo KYC because they put in their hard work and time in promoting the project and from their point of view, stopping the payment by putting in a new condition like KYC does hurt.

There are hunters who are dishonest and need to be punished with red trust rating because of using more than one account to spam and defraud the project. This is one way that the bad ones can bee weeded out but not feasible for the project owners.

In fact running the project entries from their own site or a manager's site to keep track of hunters can be a better method to prevent fraudulent users. Some managers have tried this method already like irfan_pak10.
