381  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-5-17 China CCTV 13 - Bitcoin on: May 20, 2013, 11:49:27 PM
If the Chinese are smart enough to use Bitcoin they should make money like anyone else will. They would like to destroy the US Dollar but it just isn't going to happen. Bitcoin isn't a replacement. Just another tool to diversify and create wealth from nothing. Only the money doesn't just go to the elite it will go to those that have the coins. It might even save the US from a potential  collapse.

If China buys up Bitcoin it is only good for us as it will make Bitcoin more scarce quicker. Many other countries world wide (like India) are  using it.  Let's say you are working in the US and you want to send money half way around the world to your relatives etc.. The cheapest easiest way is Bitcoin.

I'm sure England thought it would be preposterous that their "sun never sets on our shores" empire would decline and be marginalized, along with the Pound Sterling.

The dollar is on the way out, and someone or something else will replace it on the global stage - this is for certain. The only question is, what and whom - and I think Bitcoin has a damned good chance of being involved in that particular bit of financial calculus.

If the Chinese are using Bitcoin in China for example. It will have the same effect on their own currency. It's not like the US Dollar will be singled out and effected all by itself.

I hope the US government sees this posts and stops panicking. Making fools of themselves. Trying to shut down Bitcoin exchanges.

China, Russia, India, and South Africa and Brazil have long ago declared a pact to break up the US Monopoly on money (the petrodollar). Every time you hear of a "BRICS Conference" (Usually reported on RT or in other countries, not typically mentioned in US media) that is their main focus, to promote their currencies to the top and undermine the petrodollar.

This week we've seen examples of China and Russia embracing bitcoin... If those 5 countries all fully embrace it, to the point where their state-run media says it's a viable alternative to gold and paypal, then it really doesn't matter what the US laws say... Bitcoin will beat the USD in every way that counts and be here to stay.

If you open up your Bitcoin client and click on "Help" you will get "About Bitcoin" and "About Qt".   If I click on "About Qt I get 4.8.3 version. But if I click on "About Bitcoin" I get v0.8.1-beta.

I Assume I am already updated.

You might lose your coins by leaving them on some site with crooks . Or you may lose your coins by some computer mistake or problem. I'm not sure what is the bigger risk?

I would buy one but for the fact that only Jalapeno has been shipped. No way to calculate what level of difficulty you will encounter when you finally receive the machine. If they aren't in prison before.

But then again their are other coins you could use it on.

I think this newbie regulation is a crock.

I have an unused account on Gox. But I notice they always crash and get hacked. You also have to go through expensive middle men companies. Sort of like Blockchain.

Once you have bit coins you can send them up to BTC-e to trade for other coins if you want. I never keep a balance on BTC-e. Just send the coins to my personal wallet. I never send cash to BTC-e because of the expense of third party middle men.

Blockchain has been about the worst. They quoted close to 5.12 bitcoins and I received only 3.8 on my final deal with them. The bit coin  price did not change to justify the rip off.  You also lose over 5% in charges to pay them. It also seemed as though my theft proof wallet had a leak in it up on their site.  Angry

I like Coin Base the best. You wire the money for very little charges and receive exactly what you agreed on unless the price changes too much. They will cancel it if it goes against them excessively.  I think you can also cancel if the price goes against you. It takes 4 working days for the coins to arrive to your wallet on their site.    Grin

I want to ask some questions about this bounty:

    https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=80815.msg912315#msg912315

But I can't post there yet. What do I have to do to be able to post there?

I'm just posting to be able to get out of hear some day.
