Happy birthday.

We didn't do anything special for you though, it's a standard SMF feature.

383  Economy / Economics / Re: All millions are from real estate. on: August 13, 2023, 05:43:59 AM
It varies from country to country. In some countries real estate is the most profitable business, while in others there is a very small market. To give an example from my country, real estate is a rapidly developing and growing sector. It has grown incredibly fast, especially in the last 30 years. However, not every country is in the same situation.
Real estate is one of the ways to make big money. But if you say it's the only way, that would be wrong. There are many lines of business where you can earn millions. The important thing is to try to do your job in the best way no matter what sector it is in.

385  Other / Meta / Re: Igebotz Nigerian Local Board Merit Source Application on: August 12, 2023, 11:34:19 PM
I support your application. I tried to give some merits to posts you showed and would like to help in the future as well. Local boards should get more sources and merit distribution should be all over the forum. A fair distribution cannot be made when there are only a few active sources.
386  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 12, 2023, 08:03:06 PM
It's good to start the league with a win. Even though Arsenal was heavy favorite against Nottingham Forest it was important to not make any mistakes in first game and at home. Martinelli and Nketiah were pretty good today. Saka's goal from outside the box was amazing. Arsenal gave good signs, I hope they will be in the discussion for the whole season.
387  Other / Meta / Re: Factoid slots. [Request] to update information, remove old ones & add new ones. on: August 11, 2023, 06:54:19 AM
Factoids need to be removed
  • I HATE TABLES I HATE TABLES I HA(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ TABLES I HATE TABLES I HATE TABLES
  • Grin

All Donators and Staff had one factoid right, though I never used it.
I see no reason for them to be removed, especially if it's coming from a Donator. Actually, it would be nice if there were more fun factoids.
Since there are no ads anymore, we keep seeing the same factoids. A larger pool could be interesting.
388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin is centralized, will it still have value ? on: August 10, 2023, 11:39:13 PM
Decentralization isn't the only thing that brings value to Bitcoin. Even if Bitcoin was more centralized, it would hold on in this market. Probably the target audience and user base would be different.
Certainly Bitcoin would have monetary value but not much of the philosophy behind it.
389  Economy / Reputation / Re: 10 Years on: August 10, 2023, 10:25:23 PM
Just out of curiosity - EFS, tell me how much bitcoin was worth when you first bought it 10 years ago.
You must have bought it at very low - but what I'm most curious about is how you've overcome all the hurdles over the past decade. Hope you can share your experience here - obviously I would really appreciate that from you.

Not all of us had the chance to become bitcoin investors in its early days - but you are one of the many forum users who very likely has experience with it. I hope you have an interesting story about it.

IIRC it was less than $100 at that time. I made a lot of trades, used Bitcoin in goods and services. There was always talk that Bitcoin would rise, and we always believed in it. But until 2017, it wasn't believed that it would be able to realize such high potential.
When I first joined the forum, there was talk of the rally which happened a few months ago and those who registered on the same date as me were complaining that they were late to the party. I thought I was too late most of the time back then. We used to talk about the luck of those who learned Bitcoin in 2011-12 and became a member here.

It's not just about getting rich. For me, this has never been a priority. The freedom that Bitcoin promised was very appealing. I was living in a country where there were already problems with banks and government, and Bitcoin was always a way out. A large part of the society is still not aware of the advantages that Bitcoin brings. Therefore, even now I can say that to new members, it's not late.
390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 10, 2023, 01:48:42 AM
The league starts Friday, pretty exciting first week matches are waiting for us. Manchester City will do the opener. Even though they play an away game this should be an easy game for them. Burnley finished Championship first and advanced to Premier League. Manchester City is the title holder. They will play each other in season opener. Is this a coincidence?
There's a big quality difference. I expect Manchester City win with a lot of goals. It could be a game where Manchester City intimidates their opponents.
391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has nothing to do with crime on: August 08, 2023, 02:29:53 AM
It's easier to get caught with Bitcoin transactions than cash money. If security forces want to catch criminals, they can track it much more easily with Bitcoin. Governments have made great strides in cybersecurity, and blockchain-trained people are working within the government. Many of those involved in criminal activities using Bitcoin in the past have been caught. I wouldn't recommend using Bitcoin in any criminal activity. Smiley
392  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will you sell...next bull run? on: August 06, 2023, 11:23:54 PM
That's one of the hardest questions and the answer is changing depending on the time. It's easy to put a target before the bull run but hard to take action when that price comes. Usually people will be too optimistic and when they hit their target they want more and hesitate to sell their coins. This happens in every bull run. It's very difficult to stick to the target price and sell.
I don't want to make price predictions out of nowhere but when the time comes I hope I won't be too early or too late. In the end I'd like to have more Bitcoin, it's important to sell and buy back at the right time.
393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If one like decentralization they will surely want Bitcoin? on: August 06, 2023, 10:52:18 PM
Average Joe don't care about decentralization or flaws of traditional banking system. They don't care until that time comes where they can't withdraw their own money or a big economic crisis happens. Look what happened in Lebanon. Look back at history and see what happened in Greece a couple of years before or Türkiye in the 90's. Try to cash out 5 digits in your bank and see what happens. There are many reasons for people to want Bitcoin and decentralization but many don't realise that yet.
394  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 06, 2023, 06:18:31 PM
What a recovery in the final minutes for Arsenal.

The draw was deserved and they won the lottery of penalties.

Congratulations to Arsenal. It's always nice to open a season with a cup. They won 5 of last 10 cups and totally dominated Community Shield last decade.
I hope they recover quick from last seasons trauma and be competitive this season in Premier League. My favorite is Manchester City again but I'd like to see similar competition this season as well. One team's dominance kinda ruin the fun.
395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or banking investment? on: August 06, 2023, 06:04:35 PM
I don't understand this type of threads in this forum. We choose Bitcoin because we don't trust banks and governments. One day they may confiscate all your money and you can't do nothing about it. You can't even withdraw your own money without letting know the bank one day beforehand. You better put your savings in your cold wallet if you want to control your own money.
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if USDT falls down? on: August 05, 2023, 10:59:20 PM
If USDT goes, another stablecoin will take its place. Stablecoins are something that is necessary in this market and there's already a big competition in this field. Whichever firm actually issues a 1:1 backed stablecoin and publishes it with live proof, they are more reliable. While stablecoins were just emerging, there were groups that wanted to take advantage of it, but people have become more cautious after recent scams.
Don't fully rely on stablecoins, but choose only the best when using them in times of need. I also hold some USDT but the amount is nothing in my whole portfolio.
397  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can 1 satoshi be worth $1 in the future? on: August 05, 2023, 09:52:11 PM
Who is John Galt? explained well. It's not mathematically impossible, but I don't think it will happen in a time frame that we can see. For this to happen, both the dollar must depreciate enormously and Bitcoin must rise rapidly. In such an environment, 1 sat = 1 dollar won't make much sense anyway. I would focus on the rate of 1 sat = 1 cent. We're much more likely to see that in the future.
398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 18, holding my bitcoin and looking forward :) on: August 05, 2023, 05:11:44 AM
I wish I was 18 and hold 1 BTC now. Smiley
The best thing you could do with that is to forget it for at least a decade. Focus on your study and graduate. Find a good job and a steady income so you don't have to touch your BTC. Accumulate more if you can. Even in bull markets I always regret selling my coins.
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sweat coin. Is this real? on: August 05, 2023, 12:03:44 AM
That's not how token airdrops work. This is the most obvious scam attempt. They send thousand of people to this same message and asking for a small amount, you don't believe how many of people fall for this scam. Obviously, such scam attempts are very common in Telegram, same with Twitter and Discord. Don't click anywhere you see suspicious and don't send money to anyone. Even the official accounts of the projects can be hacked and send such announcements. You should also pay attention to them.

Search function is not working properly. You can try using Google search and put site:bitcointalk.org after whatever you try to search.

For example: www.google.com/search?q=chainlink+site%3Abitcointalk.org

You can use Tools and adjust time range as well.
