Talk about a first good impression for Sandro Tonali as he opened the scorelines for the Magpies and Alexander Isak doubled the lead when he scored in the 16th mins. Two goals for the Swiss player and I think it's the best way to start the season.
A five 5-1 comfortable win and Eddie Howe won't have asked for a better score. They dominated the game with 52% possession and had 17 goal attempts on goal with 13 on target, one can say Emiliano Martinez was kept literally on his toes today.
 
With such a performance, I'm sure Man City will want to tighten their defenses to avoid being walloped by Newcastle when they meet next week Saturday at the Etihad.

No wonder last season there was a petition to get Haaland out of the EPL because this is definitely not something that other strikers can easily match lol.

His brace in this game and the quick goal really put him in the spotlight for his performance.
Haaland's opening to the Premiership this season is very impressive and deserves praise. btw I'm looking forward to seeing who will be able to rival Haaland in top scoring this season after Kane leaves for Bayern.



There's a decent game to watch tomorrow and I'm expecting good things for Arsenal and Newcastle.
On the other hand there is also a good Big Match between Chelsea and Liverpool with new faces in the Chelsea squad and Liverpool's midfield.

It seems like EPL lovers have known this from the beginning so a petition was raised even though it was just a joke

Haaland amazed everyone who watched this match because in the first match Haaland was able to score 2 goals, of course, a big image in the minds of the audience where he could score more goals or surpass his goal score last season.

I think Manchester city have a predator in their squad he is Haaland. Haaland presence in the line-up will make their opponents fearful and Haaland made it happen when he managed to bring Manchester City to beat Burnley in the first match of the season.

This should be a notice to big clubs because Manchester City will again be a difficult club to contain especially if Haaland appears.
But on the other hand in some other conditions it seems that Pep does not really like Haaland's attitude in this match because seeing from his gestures he always asks for the ball in every condition even when it is not profitable though. Although this is normal for a striker but it looks like Pep wants to make Manchester City not too dependent on just Haaland alone even though he is a robot at the moment.
This is why I like Pep's way of coaching which does not specialise in just one player in a squad.

Probably the most interesting match for me will be Newcastle vs Aston Villa... Their last meeting at Newcastle ended 3-3... At the end of last season Villa started to play very well... But Newcastle usually don't lose at home... I don't know what will happen today, but I think a Newcastle win at odds of 1.7 is a very good bet... I don't think Villa can play well today...

I was expecting the same with Aston Villa and indeed for the first minute I was quite happy with a quick goal and a goal back in a short space of time but that changed after Newcatsle performed very well.
Honestly, I'm quite happy with Newcastle's performance and my bet in this match but on the other hand, I didn't really expect the score that Newcastle got in this match.

This is a big win for Asernal for the very first leg in the premiere recording a 2:0 against forest is what most of the Asernal fans have predicted and this is a good starting point for Arsenal ahead of the season this winning has indeed set the pest to what we must expect,  even though Arsenal starting records for this season may be a little below the last season but still we look forward to seeing a successful season for Arsenal in this round of the premier league.
But at some point in the match,  Asernal defence were beginning to open up and that is a big weak point for the club and it need to be fixed because hard it been that Asernal didn't record those goals from first half,  it could have been difficult for them to make such records in the second half of the match.

Is there an official statement that Klopp will leave the team? I haven't seen any news about it. If he is not happy with the team, of course, it would be good to leave, but it would be difficult for him to move to another team after staying in the team for such a long time. I did not find the official statement but some media published news about that, Klopp contract will end in 2026 but he wants to end it faster 2024 the reason he did not get enough budget to bring in players this season while Liverpool have released several important players so Klopp is uncomfortable. I understand why they did not prepare a budget for Klopp maybe because last season Liverpool have spent a lot of money and the final result is unsatisfactory.

Everyone who spends money wants to see success in return, they are right about that. but it is not right to see football only as a trade. Teams need a few seasons to be successful, even if you recruit the best players, you cannot become a champion all of a sudden. Especially if you are in the best teams in the world such as the Premier League

I am not sure why you think that the game ended 2-0 for Arsenal against Nottingham Forst, but let me tell you it was 2-1. This is also where more people were surprised I think, because together with lots of people I thought that Arsenal will be intensely determined to demonstrate their goals this season by winning with a big margin against Nottingham. Instead the game became close until the end. Arsenal was in control, but when you are only one goal ahead we know that shit can happen any moment. 2-1 in a home game against such an inferior opponent is not mind-blowing.

The advantage of Newcastle is that they don't depend on one player they work together on all lines just look at the 5 goals 4 scored by different players

In the first match of the season, Newcastle team got a remarkable victory. I can't imagine Newcastle getting such a nice win. Like last season, they did not add any big star players to the squad. Still, this team is doing great. Aston Villa were formidable opponents. A 5-1 win against such a team is a great achievement indeed. This will increase the confidence of the players. Newcastle's players will be able to perform better in the upcoming matches. Just like last season, the chemistry between Newcastle's players this season is fantastic. Coach Eddie Howe is doing a great job. I would say Eddie Howe's hard work is why this team is able to perform so well. However, Newcastle's players are also very hardworking.

Newcastle United beat Aston Villa 5-1. I expect Aston Villa to finish among the top 6 teams this season. Last season they finished 7th but they could have finished 6th. After Unai Emery took over as manager, they have improved to a good level. However, Newcastle were excellent in this game, just like they were for most of last season. I think they will overtake Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United in the league standings again this season.

How certain are you that Newcastle will overtake the three teams you mentioned(Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham)? Keep in mind that while Tottenham and Manchester United added players to their squads, Chelsea completely changed the makeup of their team, including their coach.
Nobody can predict which side will be ahead of the other in the Premier League until after a considerable number of matches have been played and we see how each team performed. At that point, based on their performance in the matches, we may figure out whose club we expect to overtake the other.

For everyone who followed my prediction this week,they must have gotten their winning,as I predicted earlier that Arsenal will win,Mancity will win, Newcastle will win and Briton will win,they all won.But one team I wasn't impressed with today is Arsenal,Arteta is doing what will make him lose,because he left Karl Harvetz who is not even fit to be at Arsenal to play full 90 minutes,and he didn't play anything impressive.He left Trosard on the bench,even played Partey in a wrong position,infact the overall Arsenal game today wasn't good at all.They have changed from their fast pattern of football to a very dull and boring one.The Liveliness that was in them last season is no longer there,I don't know if it's because the new players have not blended in the squad or they just want to change pattern.I know they are solid at the back,but I still don't like the way Arteta changes game atimes,and if they should continue playing like this, there is every possibility that a team like Newcastle,Chelsea, Liverpool,Mancity and Britton will definitely flog them.

Probably the most interesting match for me will be Newcastle vs Aston Villa... Their last meeting at Newcastle ended 3-3... At the end of last season Villa started to play very well... Villa has been on an awesome form in the friendlies by winning many of those matches no matter that most of those games were against much weaker teams than Newcastle.This should show us to bet with caution as I don't think it will be an easy win for Newcastle despite me predicting a 2-1 win for them today.The odd of 1.7 is a low one for Newcastle considering that this is the first game of the new season normally the odd should have been at 1.90 as a bare minimum and even 2 would be a nice one,in the first game of the season no one has enough data and info to judge if the odd is good or bad,for me is not good,it is in the low side.

5-1... Newcastle just destroyed Villa in this game... I certainly expected them to win, but I didn't think it would be such a big score... Friendly matches are not an indicator for league games... Today Newcastle showed serious intentions for this season... Also today I was surprised by Nottingham Forest... For them it can be called a success that they were able to score away to Arsenal...

I believe that few people expected Newcastle to win so easily. Now Newcastle has a good base in the form of financial support of the sheikhs and extremely competent work with those players that are, but Aston Villa is coached by Unai Emery, who won the Europa League and in the English Premier League had time to work, so still many expected more or less equal fight, and in the end it turned out that in the first 16 minutes immediately scored 3 goals, and the odds of total more than 2.5 was about 2! Arsenal wins against Nottingham with 2-1 scoreline. Good control over the match but I feel they should have scored one more goal. Gunners had plenty of chances which went wide or saved by Turner and also at the end I think Arsenal players were tired while tracking back counter with Elanga on the ball and conceded the goal.

I would say a good start by Arsenal with new PL campaign but I think Arsenal are much capable of posting even better scoreline.

Whether more goals or not, what matters most is for the team to later grab the 3 points at the end of the match. That's the most important thing. Arsenal did the needful by winning their first match of the season. Although Nottm Forest is no match for them, at least the 3 points have been recorded for them.
Am looking forward to how Arsenal progress in other of their tough and easy matches to come. Let them not repeat the same stuff they did last season that would make football fans question how possible is for them to win the premier league this season.
Their belief and motivating factor this season is likely to be that they are capable of lifting the premier league title this season since they can hold up Manchester City from winning the Community Shield Cup finals, they can do the same if they keep a resilient spirit in all through their PL matches.

At the start of the season, some teams do end up making mistakes. I was actually glad to see that Arsenal did not make any mistakes like that. Arsenal was in control of the match throughout the whole time. Having 79% possession is absolutely incredible against any team. The only thing that Arsenal might be a little salty about is probably conceding. I think it was towards the end of the match and Arsenal was taking it a little easy. And obviously, they had to pay the price.


Arsenal is definitely capable of lifting the English Premier League trophy. But they will have to keep in mind that they have to perform consistently throughout the whole season. They cannot be in the lead and not perform well at all in the last five matches. The last five matches are the reason why Arsenal were not able to lift the English Premier League trophy last season.

Good start for the Gunners to the league this season with a narrow victory against Nottingham Forest in the early hours of the day. Arteta’s men started on a good note but lost focus in the second half and almost let their three points slip away but were able to secure the win to record 3points along side Manchester City. That is something Arteta will need to work on, staying focused and committed to the game for complete ninety minutes. It was a narrow victory today and a lucky one because Nottingham Forest came closer to scoring a second goal to equalize. Declan Rice wasn’t at his best today but he made quite an impact, Kai Harvertz needs to work on his finishing to flourish under Mikel Arteta and maintain a spot in Arsenal’s starting eleven.

Lots of teams can actually do that, it's just that Newcastle apparently had a different tactic which involved utilising a lot of players who can score. Or maybe it was just a fluke this time. That's not a valid comparison, as other teams have clearly laid out tactics that involve two or three players on whom the goalscoring pass is going in

Shocking results to watched from today's game. Eddie Howe has the upper hand over Unai Emery. Aston Villa were competent and matched the same enthusiasm as the home team in the first half, but a lot changed in the second half. The magpies applied enough pressure to net three additional goals, which stunned the visitors at the close of the second half. At St. James' Park, Newcastle humiliates Aston Villa. The Magpies won their first EPL league game with a stunning victory. A excellent performance produces three points.

It's good to start the league with a win. Even though Arsenal was heavy favorite against Nottingham Forest it was important to not make any mistakes in first game and at home. There were a few things that I enjoyed in this Arsenal game like when Martineli's run made it a really, really good assist as well as some of Rice's attempted shots which is a new player at Arsenal is very good and I like to see that.
But there are also some things that Arteta needs to fix here such as when in the first 10 minutes their offside trap did not work well which made opportunities that fortunately did not become goals for Nottingham and of course the solo run in the crucial minute that allowed Nottingham to reduce the gap is a strong reason for Arteta to look at the defense which still shows some gaps.
But 3 points for Arsenal's first game is still very good and this is an easy bet again

Today's game was just superb, Newcastle was wonderful. I'd say if they continue like this I believe they'd finish ahead of some of the big 6 again this season.
Newcastle are getting better everyday, they're not satisfied with just 3goals like City does, whenever I see Newcastle play I just say to myself that this players are title contenders and they can beat team like Arsenal and Manchester City. I watched the Arsenal game and I was shocked by how they still feel relaxed after leading by 2goals and also wasting chances, they (Arsenal) just showed that they're not hunger for goals.
If they come face to face with this amazing Newcastle team I don't see the Gunners getting a draw.

I think a lot of people either in the stadium or in front of their screens were shaking their head when Haaland scored the first goal in the 4th minute of the game. Guardiola must have thought that this is unbelievable how omnipresent Haaland is. He is crazy like I don't know what to say about him.

Pep did not look impressed with the first half performance, he was furious about something that he expressed to Haaland while they walked down the tunnel to the dressing room. Haaland will finish this game with a Hattrick coming out in the second half. Burnley have not been bad in the first half, but Manchester City's quality is more than what they can handle. Haaland scoring again with few touches shows that this season, he may beat the record he set last season.

Manchester city has not been very good even though they are winning, they have made many defensive errors that would have cost them if they had been playing a more stronger opponent. Pep Guardiola will try to correct those errors as the play more games.

This is typical for Guardiola and I understand it. He doesn't want his team to win with tons of luck, he wants his team to control the game and win it with ease if possible. He knows that it can't always be done with ease, but when it could be done he gets angry when the players think they can come down a peg after a lead or lean back in their belief that less than the maximum is also enough.

He would never be satisfied after the first game in the season and it doesn't matter what the result would be. I am not sure what he was criticizing about Haaland, it can't have been something significant, but sometimes Guardiola also corrects certain movements or pass selections in a game and this is what makes him so special as a coach. He himself never gets tired of analyzing the details during the games.

Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle won their first game at the start of the season, so I don't agree with guarantees. Arsenal only have this possibility come true if they can maintain their winning streak, but it's the toughest challenge for any team.

Seriously, it was not funny for Aston Villa today. I never thought Newcastle could score many goals against Aston Villa in today's match; seriously, this is so surprising. In my prediction, I staked on Newcastle to win, but I never believed that they could win easily like this. It is really great to see them starting with this great form. Newcastle have shown us that they are ready for this season's top four again, or will I say that they are ready to fight for the Premier League title? Newcastle's next Match is against Manchester City; let's see how they perform to really know how strong they are this season again. Judging them early, especially with just one match won, is not proper, but still, based on how their players are playing, I will say they are good for this season.

I also placed the same bet but without Manchester City only 3 teams Arsenal, Newcastle and Brighton indeed the odds are low but when combined into a parlay the odds are higher 2.6 like in my screenshot. I agree with you, Arsenal game is a bit boring they control the game but always fail in the end we can imagine 15 shots fired in 90 minutes but only 2 goals were successful, I'm afraid Arsenal need another striker somehow they seemed to struggle to score today Arsenal should be able to score 4 goals with statistics like that.
