DRS is costly tech so not financially sustainable as these sorts of series hardly generate any revenue. Only Women's WC (Senior) uses DRS tech.
~~~
Well.. I wouldn't complain about it. Let's restrict DRS to international matches (all formats) and franchise T20 leagues. If DRS is forced upon all the matches, then player salaries may get reduced. But I don't know why they decided not to use the DRS in the tri-series. This series was broadcasted live on both TV and streaming platforms. Given this, it would have been cost effective for the organizers to add DRS. Perhaps the ICC need to come up with a strict rule, which makes DRS mandatory for all the international matches.
DRS technology is very important for accuracy of decisions in recent matches as the efficiency of umpires on ground are bit questionable in some cases so this technology should be in all international matches to get fair results.
We have seen some great examples of wrong umpiring decisions on ground lead to failure in important matches .
England is a good team as more or less all cricket lovers know that.  They have given South Africa a target of 342 runs which is a huge score but I have serious doubts whether South Africa will be able to surpass this target. But they are playing a little bit better in the beginning but they have to play more  better if they want to cross this target. I am confused whether South Africa will be able to cross this target even if they play full 50 overs.
South Africa has won the game by 5 wickets. I wasn't expecting that South Africa will win it. The target was pretty good, but the pitch was batting friendly. South Africa has won the match for the great start of the openers. Each bowler of South Africa has gotten wickets in the match and each batsman has contributed to the victory. A perfect team combination.
A very crazy match between England and South Africa. I thought there was no way South Africa was going to win this match. After all, England put on a very big total for South Africa to Chase. And honestly, I did not expect that Temba Bavuma would actually be able to perform like that even though I know he is very much capable of it. In the end, I have to say that South Africa did win quite convincingly and I think they have to thank the England bowlers for it. Only Olly Stone and Sam Curran were good. But everyone else were very expensive. If someone else could have done a little better job, it could have easily been a win for England.
South Africa is definitely focusing alot on their ODI format as world cup is around the corner and they proved this by this series win . They easily chased a big target of 342 runs , excellent batting from South Africans .
What a day for the Indians. First, the Indian women's U-19 team won the World Cup comprehensively. Second, the Indian men's team are decimating the New Zealand team in the ongoing second T-20 match.
Almost all Indian bowlers bowled well to be honest while the New Zealand batsmen performed like crap. Looks like the final T-20 will be the decider.
India vs New Zealand match was actually close in the end. India had a lot of wickets in hand. But the match went to the last two balls. Normally anyone is going to expect that India is going to win very easily when the target is only 100 in a T20 match. But this was a bowling-friendly track. The series is tied to one-one right now. And the final match is going to be the decider. I am keeping India ahead going into the next match.
After 1st innings it looked like Newzealand played bad but in 2nd innings India had great difficulty in chasing the small target of 99. They took the match to last ball and won by 1 ball 6 wickets remaining.  The pitch was definitely for spinners and ballers.
384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: January 28, 2023, 05:50:08 PM
What a failure by the overconfident Indian side playing against Newzealand. I mean non of the Indian bowlers were able to restrict the Kiwi's batter and then we saw Arshdeep Singh giving away 51 runs in just 4 overs. I cannot forget the last over when he started with a no ball. I had that feeling that he would again start that no ball or wide ball thing.
Unfortunately Ishan the Kishan again failed! We as a country and the team management still believe he is the one. According to me, he is just a waste and the Indian team management should give him an opportunity to Shaw. I am confident if he gets that opportunity he would fail as he has shaky hands when playing in an international tournament.
Let's see what happens tomorrow.
Overconfident? How? Giving young players more chances doesn't imply that they are automatically overconfident. Arsh screwed up once again along with Kishan and Gill, but they didn't look overconfident at all to me.
T-20 format is extremely volatile when compared to other formats which is why anything can happen no matter how strong the team is on paper.
thats true in T20 you can never predict that who will be the winner just like in football. We saw recently in football WC that teams like KSA and Tunisia beating top teams like Argentina and France. In T20 format your luck also matter a lot apart from your ability to win the game. Still there are matches left in this T20 series and there is still chance for India to bounce back.
385  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: We lose on the long run through return percentage on: January 28, 2023, 05:44:50 PM
Yes, the longer we play in casino the higher the chances that the house edge will caught on us.
That's why you will hear others advising that once you won already, don't stay long and quit and exit and live another day. Otherwise if you continue to chase and extend your luck, you might lose in the end.
For the slots, that's what you call RTP (Return to Player), but I'm sure most of us are not checking for it when we play slots, especially machine that is our favorite. As long as we are happy and enjoying that game, then we are all good win or lose.
If you play casino games online, the house always wins, but, if you visit a land based casino and sit down at a poker table, it is a matter of your level of experience as a poker player. Why? This is because your competition is not against the house but against other poker players whose sole purpose is to take your money.
In gambling the house is always the winner no matter whether you play online or visit the real casino. In the long run its the house that takes most of your money and the gamblers are the one who keep feeding these platforms. If you do gambling then keep this thing in your mind. I haven't read story of any gambler who has beaten the platform in the long run.
SKY Sports (UK) sealed the media rights deal with the ICC for 8 years. Both parties are yet to disclose the final price and unofficial reports are that the Australian deal is also done for 4 years.
We should get some details soon, fingers are crossed for some spicy drama.  Grin
Cricket is getting more and more business yet the level of associate nations is not improving thats because ICC is giving huge money to big boards who already have huge funds. Countries like Nepal, Afghanistan need more of ICC funding since they are not much rich and yet they have passion for cricket. ICC is developing already developed boards.
387  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: January 28, 2023, 05:34:59 PM
The general consensus among Cricket fans is that if they include Cricket in the Olympics more countries will be taking a keen interest in the sport and allocating budget for the sport which will help the sport in the longer run and with the T20 format it is the best time to introduce Cricket for the global audience.
I understand what you're trying to say here, but it isn't guaranteed that inclusion of the sport in the Olympics will help it in the long run since it could actually have the reverse effect and cause a drop in its popularity.
Frankly, the main reason that cricket was dropped from the Olympics a long time ago was because it didn't attract many viewers.
If viewership is the case then there are many games in Olympics that have much less viewership then cricket like field hockey. There is criteria like the game must be played in certain amount of countries before its included in Olympics. Beside that ICC is also not much interested in including cricket into Olympics.
388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 28, 2023, 05:29:42 PM
With England batting first and scoring 146 runs, the Proteas turned the match on its head in the middle overs with their outstanding bowling performance. It was a great captaincy by Bavuma and a good fightback by the bowlers that led to the victory. A breakthrough was made by Magala, and from then on, every fall of a wicket inspired the guys to believe. For the Proteas, qualification into the World Cup Super League automatically is crucial following the South Africa vs England series.
There are three formats going on at the moment ODI, test and T20I. Its very difficult now to keep track of which team is best in which format. With first ODI result it seems like SA are good in ODI format but we need to see result of this series before making final conclusion. England made 146 runs in 20 overs yet they were not able to chase down the target.
Anyone following Perth Scorchers  vs Sydney Sixers match today. It was an easy win for Perth Scorchers today as they chased down the target given by SS in 19th over with 9 balls to spare and 7 wickets in hand. I only know Steve smith in entire squad of both teams. Seems like in BBL not many foreign players are invited as most players are from Australia.
390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: January 27, 2023, 02:53:42 PM
I am obviously not that hopeful that this will be successful but even if you see Hockey there are just 4--5 teams in the top league rest really don't stand a chance for the race in medals. So less competition shouldn't be the criteria for a game not being part of Olympics. Moreover it's a game which can get some viewership and revenues and well for Olympics, but yes I have always felt Olympics as a place where less popular sports get the attention. I don't want cricket to steal their thunder.
So you believe that including cricket in Olympics will be unfair to the other sports? In that case why we have football, basketball and field hockey in Olympics? In terms of popularity, these sports are played in far more countries when compared to cricket. I want cricket to be included in Olympics because in most of the countries government grants are only provided to Olympic sports. And given the bias from ICC (where associate nations usually receive less than 1% of the funds that the full members receive), these grants from the government can be a game changer for countries such as Namibia and Kenya.
Olympics is a place where the best athletes around the world meet once every 4 years. Despite football being the most popular sport in the planet, many of the star players have participated in the Games. Cristiano Ronaldo represented Portugal in 2004, and Lionel Messi took part in the 2008 edition. If we take the case of basketball, NBA legends such as Shaquille O'Neal and LeBron James have been part of Olympic squads. Cricket is being the odd one, having refused to take part in this competition till now.
It is supposed to be a great honor for any player to take part in the Olympics as well. But the problem is, as you said, "cricket has been the odd one". And it is not because the players do not want to play in the Olympics. It is because the cricket authority, the ICC does not want cricket to be included in the Olympics.
I also think that some cricket boards also do not want cricket to be included in the Olympics to some extent. As a sports body, the ICC should want which is the absolute best for the game. But they just want to think about money. That's why cricket took so long to be included in the Olympics. And even when it is being included in the Olympics it is only six teams play in the Olympics. Which is not a great sign. This means the sports body and certain cricket boards still do not want cricket to be included in the Olympics. They are just doing it because they have to.
The organizers of the 2028 Olympic games are discouraged from keeping cricket, while the ICC has proposed to the organizers to keep cricket in T20 format with six teams each for men and women. There are many criticisms about it. Various media channel have reported that cricket will not feature in the 2028 Olympic Games. But ESPN revealed in a report that no decision has been taken yet. We will finally know or confirm it next October. It appears that the ICC wants to include cricket but many may be skeptical about what the real picture looks like.
This is reality actually cricket has been limited to 8 teams and their series and tournaments, these 8 teams are winning and losing . Cricket is lacking diversity as same teams are dominating and leading,  even low ranking teams are not mentioned or shown anywhere which Is not good .
Olympics means lots of countries showing their sportsman and making names for thier Country.
India vs New Zealand
India win the toss and take the decision of bowl first and give a chance to newZealand to build a target to Chase. Just like other matches again F.Allen fail again and again and got dismissed at start of initial overs by Washington sundar. Now newZealand has score 59 runs in initial 7 overs while two of his batter has been dismissed like F.Allen and M.Chapman. I think it's not a bad start as compared to over but they fail to safe wicket. Now Conway and Philips take a charge hope they will score huge to take the revenge of his previous whitewash defeat from India.
Indian chose to field because they know they can easily compete any big target , just they have to focus on their bowling side in which they did good . After 16 overs Newzealand is on 131 runs  with 3 wickets gone , this is good performance by them but for India this is a really easy target .
All now newZealand can do is to focus on their bowling to win this match.
South Africa - England
South Africa won the toss and batted in the first ODI match against England. South Africa managed to collect 61 runs in the first wicket pair. A good enough collection. And at the end of 10 overs, South Africa collected 71 runs. South Africa's batsmen have got off to a good start. South Africa should not forget their opponent England. England is a very strong team. So if they want to win against England, South Africa will have to give a big target. The pitch is not bowling-friendly. Batsmen are scoring runs easily. So my guess is that South Africa will not win if they give a target of less than 320 today.
England vs South Africa 1st ODI
South Africa chose to bat first and they started good and lost 2 wickets before 100 runs , now after 32 overs South Africa is on 175 runs 4 wickets gone .
England balling is definitely putting pressure on South African batsman and controlling their run rate which is 5.66 right now.
That's right Arabs have really strict working conditions and sometimes that becomes difficult for a human to endure that's the reason for human life loss before world cup 2022 in Qatar.
USA and Canada will organise world cup with much better facilities as they have organised before , Qatar had to develop everything from scratch that's the reason for high expense in 2022 world cup .
394  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 27, 2023, 11:33:47 AM
If you take the stats into account in ODI, Tim Southee never had a great performance against India in my memory and even if you check his economy against India is well over 6.15 but on the other hand Trent Boult does bowl well against India and even in a hypothetical situation with the form the Indian batsmen were in, i doubt they could have made any difference.
That may be true. But given how poorly the New Zealand pacers performed (especially Tickner, Duffy and Shipley), I think Boult or Southee would have performed far better. Lockie Ferguson was the only bowler who held his nerves against India. Anyway, the pitches were very unsupportive for the pace bowlers and therefore even the experienced bowlers would have struggled. On top of that, New Zealand is not a team with depth in their player strength, unlike the case with India, Australia or England. If 2-3 if their main players are unavailable, that will impact their performance.
Yes it's true that the New Zealand pacers performed really bad. Don't know the reason may be practice issue. Or I think they didn't understand the pitch situation. And one more big reason is that India's team was very strong. Its player were understanding the bowling and they know that how to beat them.
By the way New Zealand needs more practice to perform well in the ICC world cup.
New Zealand was a good team in cricket but now their performance is not looking good and India England and Australia have gone to a big stage and they have dominated the game of cricket and New Zealand has dropped their performance a lot from earlier. India vs New Zealand T20 match is going to start again soon after the ODI match, let's see how New Zealand perform poorly in ODIs but how they can do in T20 games.
Newzealand recently played series with Pakistan and won that series with 2-1  but obviously this is India who were opposite to them , the strongest team right now so defeating them was a task for them.
Now T20 series is starting today let's see how Newzealand will perform in that , may be they recover and learn from their previous mistakes and win this one.
395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2022/2023 on: January 27, 2023, 11:30:42 AM
I don't think Al Nassr is stronger than their opponent later because even though Al Ittihad is in position 3 but the difference in points is not much, you can see that Al Ittihad have only lost once like Al Nassr, and other stars apart from Ronaldo who are in Al Nassr are not guaranteed victory because it is possible that facts like this will give Al Ittihad more motivation to win, especially they have the opportunity to replace Al Nassr's position at the top, if Al Nassr loses, I'm wait  what the media will report because sometimes their reports not objective.
I said it before the match, the odds favored Al Nassr because of Ronaldo, although the last four-year record indicated that Al Ittihad have higher chance to win, so it was a good selection to bet on Al Ittihad for risk takers. Anyways, Ronaldo has failed in his first test in my opinion. The title they were competing for is an important one in Saudi Arabia.
the Odds seem to be favoring Al Nassr, although they have a record of four years of draws and losses against Al Ittihad. Indeed, this has to be one of Ronaldo's effects.
The goal Ronaldo missed in first half change the whole course of game and that lead to Al ittehad victory.
There are soo high expectations from Ronaldo in Al Nassr and he's not reaching up to that mark.  Let's see what will happen in remaining matches .
396  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 27, 2023, 11:22:08 AM
Explain this, why is India going to care too much about the money that they get from ICC when it is only 4- 5% of the annual revenue that BCCI gets? India is more likely to choose mental warfare against Pakistan rather than getting the money that they get from ICC in my opinion. At least that's what the Indian cricket board thinks.
LOL.. because it is simply too big. $405 million for a 8-year period sounds small for you?
Last time, BCCI fought tooth and nail to get their share increased. Originally Srinivasan had proposed $570 million for the BCCI, by reducing the allocation for associate nations to zero. Then Shashank Manohar came to power and he changed it to $293 million. High voltage drama followed for the next 12 months or so, and the BCCI at one point even threatened to pull out from all the ICC events. Finally a compromise deal was reached and the allocation for BCCI was again increased to $405 million, by reducing the share for associates.
Now tell me whether you still think that BCCI wouldn't care much about the grants from ICC.  Grin
I understand that it is too big of an amount. But when it comes to between being humiliated and actually going to Pakistan to play the Asia cup and giving up the money that they get from ICC, I think India is always going to choose to give up the money.
But actually, the honest thing is I do not think the situation is ever going to go down that way. I believe all the things are going to be fixed and India is going to go to Pakistan to play the Asia cup and Pakistan will also play in the world cup. But even if India does not go to Pakistan to play the Asia cup and the Asia cup is eventually moved to another venue, I do not think Pakistan is ever going to miss the world cup.
And honestly, I think India is too big of a club. And giving up only 40 million, or at least around 40 million is not going to be that much of a big deal for them if things genuinely come down to that situation.
This is some huge sum of money India is getting from ICC and still acting like the boss who controls everything because of their stubborn and arrogant nature .
Asia Cup is a big question for everyone specially for people of Pakistan and India .
Hopefully things will be clear in February and fans will take a sigh of relief specially Pakistan fans who have been waiting for Asia Cup since long
Congratulations to the U19 girls of team India! They will be playing for the first time world cup finals.
I never expected them to win against the strong Kiwi side but they played exceptionally well today. Shweta's unbeaten knock of 61 helped the Indian team. Parshavi took 3 wickets which restricted the Newzealand batters as they gave India only 107 runs target.
Excellent batting performance by Indian women ,they not just chased the target they chased it quickly in 14 overs 110 runs with only 2 fall of wickets . This is brilliant,  Newzealand struggled with batting and as a result their balling went totally wrong and they lost the match .
Well done U19 Indian women and congratulations for qualifying to finals .
398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2022/2023 on: January 26, 2023, 06:40:02 PM
Ronaldo's real effect could appear in stronger matches, like the match against Al Hilal, who have been dominating the SPL for years, so by then, we will see if he's able to serve the team. Apart from this, I don't think he can compete for the highest scorer in the next season, because his physical status doesn't help him to play every match, and the other teams have high quality strikers. Actually, one of them is Talisca, who scored the only goal of the recent match.
Age really can't lie, that CR7's sharpness is reduced, just look at his kicks several times wide of the goal and that is beyond the expectations of many fans, it looks like CR7 will end his career at AL Nassr
but the big effect that CR7 made on Al Nassr was also extraordinary, the competition with Al Hilal was getting tougher
Age is a problem, that's a fact.  You can't always play football at the highest level.  Now CR7 can prepare to be replaced by CR7 Jr.  Currently, he signed a new contract with Al Nassr and his active football life will continue for 2.5 more years.  Despite everything, Cristiano will continue to be the hero of my dreams.  I wish her back to her best performances.
And who is the CR7 junior? What you have expressed is so much valid, no matter how C Ronaldo loves football and would want to play it, age is no more on his side. I could see the way he always drilled himself like a youngster, this is because of more practice and agility, but for how long. By age 40 years, he must have added to his weakness through the call of nature, he can't beat that. Perhaps he wants to win another record against Kazuyoshi Miura who still played a relevant match at the age of 53.
"
CR 7 junior is Ronaldo's son and that's right Ronaldo's will power and energy is on top but his age is coming infront of his ambitions . He's no doubt a phenomenal footballer and he made great records for his teams and country but now he is aging and this might be the end for his football career as he'll be 40 after 2.5 years .
399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: January 26, 2023, 06:34:41 PM
Actually it is not even 6 teams. Since the United States will qualify as being the hosts, there will be a total of 5 quality teams. Out of the 5 teams, 3 will win medals. I believe that the ICC has underestimated IOC. They are probably thinking that IOC will agree to whatever unreasonable demand that they make. In order for cricket to be just considered for Olympic participation, it took almost two decades of lobbying. All that hard work is wasted because Greg Barclay and the other businessmen doesn't want cricket to be in Olympics.
Actually, it is very easy to understand why that happened. If there is a qualification system, the bigger teams will face trouble. And even if there are 10 teams playing directly in the Olympics, there is a high chance that to make the groups interesting there will have to be bigger teams put against each other in the early stages.
So, they did not want to take that risk as well. They wanted to do everything by keeping the big teams as safe as they can. But obviously, they are facing a lot of backlash from fans. The problem is they are not going to change anything. It was just dumb.
Lol so only 5 teams are going to compete in Olympics,  this is height of stupidity form ICC what erre they thinking before giving this proposal.  And Jay Shah is so much involved in this matter too obviously directing ICC what to do and what no to do.
Let's see what  lOC comes up with?
400  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 26, 2023, 06:23:23 PM
Pakistan can't afford to take any bold steps like not participating in world cup as they can't go against ICC but opposite is the case with India.
India will put immense pressure on ICC over this issue and make things according to their will.
India has been going through financial solvency for long time. The  large number of cricket market that India has captured is not possible for any other country. The opposite situation happen in the case of Pakistan. Presently Pakistan is in financial crisis. They would certainly never want to make such a big loss. However, it is heard that if the Asia Cup is not held in Pakistan, Pakistan cricket will also not participate in the ODI World Cup in India. However, all the cricket lovers want the upcoming ODI World Cup to be held participating by both countries.
And I think if aisa cup Is held at a neutral venue Pakistan will still participate in that and that's the right spirit , what India is doing right now over Asia Cup making an issue out of nothing and making unfair use of their power is extremely wrong .
Cricket should be played with the spirit to win the game and whoever wins is powerful and strong.
India will comeup with strange and weird points to change venue .
