One upside to switching to x11 is that x11 is all the rage right now and x11 coins or any anti scrypt asic coins are gaining hype and value. Just by forking to x11 we could get a 5x or even bigger market cap. That would put emc2 even more on the radar. Something to think about. I know that we aren't as focused on price as other coins but bottom line is our donations get bigger. My opinion is that emc2 can get to 4k sats with a small amount of hype. The only other question I have is can scrypt survive ASIC? Bitcoin did, but bitcoin was everyones end goal and honestly it still is. Is there even an alt out there that people with ASICs will see as more valuable than BTC? I don't even think litecoin is big enough. To me the question is will people stick with scrypt long enough for ASICs to strengthen it. BTC did. But BTC was always the endgoal. Now if the devs really do have some ASICs coming to spread the hashrate and hold emc2 then thats a different story

This is starting to look like we may see a nice price jump soon. 13 BTC volume in the last 24 hrs

any word on getting added to the iama reddit calender? only one other person tomorrow!
Hello, the AMA will be on http://www.reddit.com/r/science, /r/IAMA is more for famous or successful people, not the best choice for now. Maybe in the future it will. We've talked with the mods about it, so it will 90% happen tomorrow at the scheduled hour, 10% being reserved for extraordinary events. If you want more information I can ask the marketing team to offer more details. awesome thats even better!

No algorithm is asic proof indefinitely. People need to come to accept that. If we do fork it will be a one time thing to avoid the more immanent vulnerability and take the opportunity to grow the community. Later in a coins lifecycle a coin can benefit from ASICs as it keeps the network in place. We are very early in our lifecycle though.
thats a good point it is possible that scrypt could just live on with pure ASIC mining like BTC but since these are alt coins who knows how they will react.

The Ask Me Anything with Walter Moss, Ph.D. will be from 6PM - 8PM EST this Sunday on the Einsteinium subreddit!
EDIT. This will be US Eastern Standard Time.
Did yall request that they add it to the iama calender? Going to check on that. sweet. also the top image on the OP seems broken/missing but that might just be me.

A little fuel: We looked up the code and were able to see that the current 'power savings' are just temporary as the algo itself is very bad in shape so its not properly configured which leads to less work for the card. So if its 'optimized' ( which is something bad in this case :-) ) in the future that energy saving 'feature' will fall apart but the hashrate will rise because of optimiziation. Furthermore all algos used in x11 are optimized for ASICs :-)
We have been working hard testing and discussing X11 . Its by no means ready to launch and it may never launch if the team feels like there's a better way to go. But at this point it looks very probable that IF we'll be switching to X11 in the near future, everything will need to be rebuilt. Wallet, android app, ect ect ect so everyone will have ample time and advance warning to adjust to the possible upcoming switch to X11, It wont happen overnight, likely there will be at least 25 days notice.
so, you are going to change the algo to X11? even if it is optimized for asic already? would it have to be an asic that could work with all 11 algos?

Awesome, I'll get my questions ready. this could be huge for einsteinium and has front page potential. Reddit loves science

x11 would be a great addition right now because even though it isn't needed right now there is TONS of hype around it

So which project did yall vote for?
I chose the cancer one for two reasons. The first being that to me it seems like research is more what we should be funding not education. The second being that we may be able to completely fund it.

I want you all to know we are considering a different algorithm internally. My vote is x11 so those that agree with me keep your fingers crossed.
x11 sounds legit

It seems to me that "Ring" project not something that need to be financed. because it is slightly contradicts with EF statement "We are thinking less, and investing less, in the ‘big ideas’ and focusing on the next minor improvement to our mobile phone or television. It’s time to think big and start spending again on science." I will vote for "The Power Of Ocean Waves", that big and interesting project. I've been following and buying Einsteinium from the start. I have a science background so thought this idea was likely to gain a great community following (which it has). When I saw the ring project I thought it would be good for people with limited mobility. I was thinking in terms of stroke sufferers who will live long term but can't move an arm properly, or people like Steven Hawking who can only move one finger. When I was thinking about this it was because I had a limp that no one could explain and that started a few months ago and getting around my apartment was starting to get cumbersome. Last week, after several misleading diagnosis from clinics, a research hospital finally diagnosed a golf ball sized sized (2 inch) meningioma brain tumour on my motor cortex. They think it is operable and won't spread and so prognosis for survival is very good (90%+). However I will require at least three weeks in hospital, a 10 ~ 18 hour operation, and possibly months off work with income loss. And, although I'm only 41 years old, the brain surgery on my motor cortex is likely to leave me with a permanent movement impairment on the right side of my body, including my right arm. But I consider myself lucky to have got a proper diagnosis finally and that my chance of survival is good, so I am optimistic and happy to look on the bright side. So when I awoke this morning I was thinking about positive ways I can make my impaired movement life better and so was reminded of the ring idea, however I can't find any information about it any more in this thread or reddit. However I agree with you that maybe this kind of thing is not the type of thing you want to fund by Einsteinium. But not all electronic advancements are about tweeking cell phones or clearer TV's. I think that this is exactly the kind of thing we want to fund, something that furthers humanity in a new way.
