381  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin going for $8.570 following recent information on: January 07, 2020, 08:58:13 AM
Lmao, all of these models getting pumped out left and right trying to predict bitcoin price when it is clear as day that there is no single model that can do so successfully in the long run due to all of the variables that are involved as well as the fact that bitcoin is simply based more on market sentiment than anything else.

BTC is going to have a bullish year in 2020 and there is no doubt about that, but I don't think that TA should be attributed to that.

Fundamentally bullish events such as the halving and whatnot are the driving forces. Not some model.
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Under supervision, do you think that anonymous coins have a future? on: January 06, 2020, 02:32:10 PM
Anonymous currencies will be valuable without a legal intervention, if anonymity is lost then there is no future with its concept. Anonymous currencies are easy to operate illegally and also difficult to control, which is what this market encounters and it is difficult for governments to control it.

As a result of this I don't think that regulation will necessarily make anonymous coins more attractive to investors.

It's one of these things where the inverse of the common paradigm is true. Because if there is excess regulation in the field of anonymity, then there could be the worry that there will be a lack of anonymity within the coin as a result of governments dabbling with the ecosystem.

But at the end of the day some of these regulations are inevitable and can't be stopped.
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just earned my first 9$ in Bitcoin Cash, how can I grow it? on: January 06, 2020, 02:11:16 PM
First of all, I'd suggest that you get out of BCH. Long term I don't think that this coin has much potential as a competitor of BTC nor as an altcoin.

Secondly, $9 is really not much. If you want to trade with it I suggest that you first convert it into either BTC or ETH, find an exchange with sufficient liquidity and trading pairs (Binance is a good choice in this case), and buy one coin that you believe in the long run and just forget about it.

That's really the only way you can realistically make any sum of worthwhile money, in my opinion.
384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Justin Sun dump 33 billion TRX on New Year's Day? on: January 06, 2020, 01:50:28 PM
The fact that there is now no dump done by Sun means that this prediction or question is not proven. Regardless of whether Sun will dump or not, the fact is that tron is shitcoin. Gradually it will lead to nothingness.
I already sold tron when there was still a profit opportunity. Good luck who is still locked by Sun lol

I don't think that TRON is necessarily a worthless token.

There are already a lot of projects that have established themselves on the platfrom that TRON has provided and there is no denying of that. That alone offers a lot of utility for the TRON token, which means that TRON has at least some intrinsic value as opposed to the vapourware on offer that have none.

But I'm not the biggest believer either, especially with how centralized the supply seems to be as well as the influence.
385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Liquidity pushes IEO projects up on: January 06, 2020, 01:11:17 PM
To developers out there, if you still don't know what can easily make your project successful, the answer is liquidity, if the exchange you want to use to raise fund has no big liquidity you won't get better results, Best IEO results are from top exchanges, think very well

You're right in one sense.

Liquidity is one of the most important attributes that a project can have within its infancy. Investors love to have liquidity, sometimes more so than even the long term fundamentals when we are talking about the short term markets.

As a result of IEO providing liquidity to these newly born tokens they can attract short term investors; but does not necessarily guarantee that in the long run a project would succeed. That still depends a lot on the team and developers themselves.
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Banks are bullish on crypto on: January 06, 2020, 12:48:38 PM
Banks are not idiots, they know what they are against and they know that eventually bitcoin will eat up a lot of their customers money if they do not do anything about it. That is why German banks will be allowed to keep others bitcoins on their accounts for example, having bitcoin on a bank account would be a significant increase in demand for such a service.

You don't become a huge bank by just denying people what they want, if Germany is doing it now, France will do later, Spain will follow, USA will look at it, japan will do it quickly, so every country will follow as soon as German system works and it will definitely work for them. Believe me when I say this but all the upper management of big banks probably owns thousands of bitcoins on the side as well because they know whats about to happen to banking world.

Exactly.

I don't think that banks are particularly liking of bitcoin, for obvious reasons since essentially they are competitors of each other with bitcoin potentially taking away a lot of the international remittance sector of their services.

However, the smart banks recognize that bitcoin's growth in the future is really going to be inevitable and it is wise to invest in this technology while it's still in its early adoption stage. That's how I feel about the banks' attitude right at this moment.
387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of key areas to look out for in 2020 on: January 05, 2020, 12:28:18 AM
Here are lists of some key concepts and projects that i think will definitely advance significantly more this year.

1. Libra/Calibra
2. Bitcoin Halving
3. Gaming Development on Blockchain
4. Defi Growth
5. Central Bank Currencies
6. Infrastructure and Web 3.0

I personally don't think that Libra is going to be a factor in the market, to be completely honest.

Its development is already stunted by the fact that it has a lot of its long term partners like Paypal already pulling out. They were going to obviously provide valuable infrustructure and technical support to Libra and with their withdrawal long term fundamentals have significantly worsened.

I also wouldn't put too much weight on central bank cryptos, as even if they do get launched it's not likely it'll have a wide impact on the decentralized cryptospace.
388  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Law Firm Sued for Advising Fund That Cryptocurrency Assets Are Not Securities on: January 05, 2020, 12:00:18 AM

However, there are countries who claimed that cryptocurrencies are legal tender and not as securities. I know there's going to be a debate about cryptocurrencies being classified as securities or not.

I do have a question for you guys though. Do they deserve to get sued for giving advice that cryptocurrencies are not securities? Or is this not necessary at all? What would be your reaction to this one guys?

It depends on the specific coin that you're talking about.

There are STOs out there that are obviously offering up security tokens as a reward for your investment. That should be classified as a security, no doubt. However, with things like BTC which do not represent a stake in any company, debt or equity, it should not be considered a security.

Obviously the issue here though is not really with the legality of bitcoin, but rather the legality of the advice given by this law firm.
389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: don't rely on gift tokens, balance your time with other things. on: January 04, 2020, 11:10:07 PM
If you're talking about airdrops, they are not worth your time whatsoever.

Your personal information will likely land in the wrong hands as well to spam you in the future. The tokens that you will receive as your reward will likely be worthless as most airdropped tokens never even make their way into an exchange, let alone have any substantial value.

As OP said, move on from them and work on other things that are much more worthwhile.
390  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-12-31] Countdown: Craig Wright’s 1m BTC fortune to be unlocked in hours on: January 04, 2020, 10:39:24 PM
Quote
In a couple of hours from now, we'll know whether Dr. Wright is real satoshi or not.

Can the mainstream media just stop talking about him already?

It's clear what's going to happen. The lies that he perpetuates are simply going to be excused by a plethora of BS, and his supporters are going to continue to suck it up until finally they realize that there is no chance that Wright is Satoshi; and that even if he is, so what? Satoshi's existence has no bearing on BTC's development anymore.

So why feed it by creating more media attention for the man?
391  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: US- Iran Tensions boost Bitcoin price to $24,000 on: January 04, 2020, 09:02:14 PM
Again, pricing in terms of the official exchange rate for Iranian rials means almost nothing for a currency that is so hyperinflated and closed off to the rest of the world.

If you convert the price of each BTC using the unofficial exchange rate, you'll likely find that the actual BTC price is very close to the global mean.

That's just the way it is for countries with significant capital controls that are imposed on foreign exchange. People pay a premium in terms of official exchange rates because they know that they can't get their money out using that official exchange rate, and thus demand outstrips supply for forex and vice versa for their domestic currency. We've seen this with India, Korea, and Venezuela in recent days as well. Nothing special.
392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Using Crypto at Gas Stations on: January 04, 2020, 09:56:14 AM
Quote
Now, imagine if a mainstream company creates a Blockchain token that could be used at Gas Stations worldwide? This would definitely increase adoption of crypto and Blockchain tech within the mainstream world like never before. After all, paying for gas is a necessity these days for transportation. This, coupled up with self-serve, could be quite revolutionary. I'd imagine people driving to a gas station and paying with crypto from their phone in their own car to get their gas tank filled automatically. This hasn't been implemented yet, but it would be cool to see it happen someday.

I fail to see why this would propel people to start using bitcoin, or other decentralized cryptos.

After all, the token is issued by a centralized entity. Even if people are rewarded with potentially discounts or whatnot by using these tokens as opposed to paying in cash at the register, it is unlikely that it will translate into grassroot adoption of other, completely separate decentralized tokens and coins.

I'm not saying that this is necessarily a bad thing, but if it does happen, even if it's by some big corporation like BP, the benefits are overstated.
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Welcome to 2020, the year of cryptocurrency bull market. on: January 04, 2020, 08:52:48 AM
many people assume if 2020 is very good year and the bull will come soon, maybe many of them are already fed up with the fall of bitcoin but I don't expect much, I will just go and see it all, because if too much hope will be painful if all expectations are not appropriate or not achieved.

Perhaps this type of reserved sentiment is safer to have.

However I really don't see how 2020 can be more bearish than 2019. We're seeing ETH have its hard fork to switch to a PoS model, as well as bitcoin's halving coming up, both of which have potential to be extremely bullish events in the long run.

There is reason to be optimistic about the direction that the markets are headed towards, and I don't think that it is bad to necessarily take out long positions now and bet on it.
394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Now that we are in 2020 on: January 04, 2020, 08:35:54 AM

But here's the question, if the market goes bullish and altcoins are pumping, do you think when there is an ICO, people are still going to invest?

personally I believe they will not because there an IEO already but I like to hear yours.

Very interesting question.

My answer would be no, in general. People have seen enough of ICOs to realize that the majority of them are simply ploys to make money for the founders and once they do, the founders will abandon the project one way or another and move onto the next one potentially even under a different name.

That said, there is potential for ICOs in the form of angel investments to thrive in 2020 with the institutional space more mature and willing to invest. However, the criteria is obviously much higher and genuine development needs to be seen for anyone to be willing to invest. It won't be as easy as 2017.
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have created a list of 70 social media based on blockchain or tokenized on: January 04, 2020, 08:06:58 AM
Very nice list.

Personally I still think that Steemit is going to be the biggest player within the field, because of the fact that I think it's just so far ahead in terms of its first mover advantage as well as its development (finally out of beta this year, I believe) over the rest of the tokens.

But obviously, we've seen Myspace and FB used as an example time and time again, and if Steemit does not innovate in the near future it could end up with the same fate.
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple is less decentralized than BTC and ETH, but that’s not necessarily bad on: January 03, 2020, 05:31:58 AM
It may not be a bad thing in terms of the investment point of view - the fact is that XRP will likely experience a substantial pump if institutional investors actually were interested in investing in cryptos, simply because of the fact that XRP is probably the most integrated of all cryptos to traditional institutions.

However, in the long run, I still think that decentralization is the trend and there is no denying that.

So if long term, there is a grassroot movement towards decentralization, I doubt that XRP will be able to reap any benefits of that movement.
397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO is dead these days, what next in the market? STO? IEO? on: January 03, 2020, 04:29:37 AM
I am not sure that ICO/IEO will ever come back and become actual again. We need something new, some new modern and promising word. STO may be the new trend though...

Absolutely not.

IEOs are still thriving, probably to more of an extent than STOs.

I think that all of these new funding premises are in fact a result of the bear market, because people are seeking something new and interesting in the midst of this uninteresting time. That's just the truth - there is no intrinsic difference between ICO or IEOs. I think that funding will likely again ease up during the time of the bull market.
398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright never understood anything about bitcoin on: January 03, 2020, 01:25:16 AM
I've never seen anyone that hates bitcoin as much as Craig Wright, 99% of all is predictions is putting him to shame and yet he doesn't back down Cheesy so hilarious, his latest prediction is self destruction of bitcoin by Jan 1 and he said no single bitcoin will remain by year ending, check out the full article here
https://cryptoslate.com/fatal-flaw-set-to-destroy-bitcoin-on-jan-1-according-to-craig-wright/

And it's fitting that this is in altcoin discussion - because Craig Wright represents nothing but an altcoin. Not bitcoin itself.

It's honestly funny how he still has the guts to go around and spread of all these misinformation while people already know for ceratin that he is nothing more than a con man. It's also disgusting that mainstream media seems to portray him as the real satoshi, and disturbing as well.

The best way to aid this situation is pay to attention to anything that he says, and let the troll self destruct.
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your Recap for the year 2019 on: January 03, 2020, 12:56:24 AM
I'm not asking recap on what's happens in the Cryptocurrency industry, but on how 2019 made an impact in your lifestyle, motivation and financial status, is it positive or negative, are you full of hope or losing it, what is your assessment this coming 2020.

2020 is definitely going to be a positive year.

The downturn in the past few days in the crypto markets isn't unexpected as we've seen time and time again the turn of the new year hasn't been kind to market movements, due to the fact that people likely are unloading coins in order to pursue festivities and are less focused on the markets.

However, after the CNY and closer to the halving is definitely a timeframe to watch imo. That is the most interesting time for traders as we could potentially see wider market sentiment pick up once again.
400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The reason why you need to store your money in your hands! on: January 03, 2020, 12:30:29 AM
It is reported that exchanges began to freeze accounts for having been on the accounts of a "dirty" Bitcoin. Moreover, we are talking about Binance and about the Bitcoin, which was there 5 months ago. Sad Thus, exchanges can freeze any amount of funds in order to cover cash gaps simply by tinkering with their user's transaction history. If suddenly a user once bought from someone a “dirty” BTC on OTC, send it on the exchange and then conducted operations with other BTC there for a long time, then at one moment he can get a ban and the exchange can don't give him money as much time Exchange wants.  Embarrassed I think it can affect everyone. so I share this info with you guys because I recommend you hold your money ONLY in your own wallets! so be careful and Happy New Year!

Great advice.

Sometimes the circumstances under which withdrawals get withheld is definitely warranting of suspicion.

It would be possible and even likely that at least one of the exchanges are not acting in good faith, and are in fact cunning operators who use this as an excuse in order to hold customer funds for a while longer while they cover their liquidity problems.
