Back when we were hovering around 3.20 for a couple weeks and then suddenly dropped to the 2.70 range, I sold. Then the very next day everything went back up (of course) and proceeded on to 7.XX :-/ Not making that mistake again.
This is a small dump. There will be a recovery guys. talk to me after another 30 blocks or so and see how people behave

Do you know about the rampant tax evasion in italy? It's not like in usa where the IRS go and kickass who evade.
+1 there are people that drive ferraris and claim money from the government because they claim to live below the poverty line.

If people really just planned to use TV viewers to feed a bubble without any further support, the plan may be going bad right now.
+1 Last night we saw people delude themselves into thinking because the show portrayed bitcoin well that this meant people would a.) know it was real, b.) google it, c.) buy it. Today we're seeing people embrace reality. Exactly, I was saying this before the show also. Yes it was great it portrayed bitcoin well, but 99% of the viewers probably had no clue it was actually real. Just how many percent of us here did you see act like that? If even 1 percent gets interested after the show, it has served more then its reason for existence. I mean how many people really call in because of teleshopping? Don't get me wrong - I am more then happy to have cheaper bitcoins for all of us interested. I just don't see it happen.

people watch these shows for the limbic system hack: they get their emotions driven!
Notice they do not watch it for financial advice.
I personally have never googled anything after a series except the series wiki perhaps.

i am not convinced that CES will do increase btc price and i dont know how many ppl will be hooked up on this by bit-pay
Am I missing something, hasn't bitcoin had a presence at CES all week? (edit, via MtGox and bitpay obviously) The price is affected by volume of buying and selling. Nerds who become interested in bitcoin at CES arent just dropping to the floor to crack their laptop to wire 200k off to japan to auto-buy some bitcoins. Personally I'm pretty sure nerds ALL have heard of bitcoins anyways. Now if MtGox could show up at a FOREX trading conference....that might have a much bigger effect. That is an excellent point. In some sense bitcoin would allow you to cheat on the forex? I don't think so. Or am I missing a point? Or do we just want there volume? About the falling knife: seems to happens a bit more with every new published block

OP: like gold only digital; there was no digital gold before Bitcoin
what is bitcoin? - it's a new form of money
there is no simpler answer to this.
it's the same as asking what is oxygen or internet - you can describe their uses and benefits in simple terms but if you want to tell more about oxygen or internet you will have to cover basics of chemistry or computer science which you won't be able to compress into a single sentence or a short paragraph without further explanation.
digital gold existed - it was centralized though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-gold@ TOPIC Bitcoin is easy and flexible It can be to international money transfers what the email is to the pony express.

So what do you think then?
Do we need 200k Dollar or more towards 500k Dollar to cross the zone?
Ozing resilience...... ozing resilience...... bitcoin shure is.

What would a prudent guess of the true resistence @ 6.90 - 7.25 be like?
2-3 times visible amount? More ? Less ?
If passing the resistence point fails again are we in for another round below 6?
For me the market is really a bit hot now. Really would hate to burn my fingers.

we're going back up ppl.
Dow did a typical checkmark reversal and ended up today. the USD was down.
the Reflation has begun and USD have begun to look for the new safe haven other than gold: Bitcoin.
right gold safe haven right bitcoin safe haven 2012 is not not the year of mass adoption to me it is the last year of 50 coins per block and quite certainly one more year of bad press. Will it stop me from buying when low - no

What I still do not understand is the reason for the spike up to 7.2 just before the spike down that caused the selloff.
Does someone have an idea?

I am.. watching my mining profits disappear so fast is making me dizzy. I've been holding on to my coins, but I'm getting tempted to sell while the profit is still there if more people start selling. Even though I lost some potential profit. What I did manage to save is actually above break even point of mining equipment. Now I only must not use it to speculate again .... maybe related do you expect this special someone will put the dollars back in again?
