Choice is always good. Coercion is always bad.

No it isn't. In this sector, choice is BAD, coercion is good.

The choice you have is to use another network. The whole point of privacy would be lost if it was optional. That's the huge advantage DRK has over anything else.

What's the point of using the Darkcoin network to keep your finances private if every bit of income you receive is transparent to all and sundry ?

If somebody **chooses** to use the DRK network because they wanted totally financial privacy, then that choice can only be done justice to by hiding their income as well as their expenditure.

+1
And I would not use the word "coercion" because it's simply one of the main features of the coin, an innovation.

Coercion + closed source will not bode well for darkcoin.
So I hope they won't dare to release an enforced darksend version while STILL keeping the source closed, because that would basically cause the coins value to drop like a stone. (IMHO)

Then I would really feel like having bought an apple product.... making me feel that "jail is cool"  Angry

So, again, is this official that the dark send feature will be mandatory in the future?

I repeat myself, DarkSend is a feature. If you chose to buy a TV that integrates some new technologies do you consider this as a form of coercion ?

DogeCoin has gained a large lead in the voting for the next coin to be added to CoinRecycler, with 45% of the votes!

It would be exciting to see DOGE as the first real coin on CoinRecycler Smiley Not only would those of you that are MastiffCoin fans be able to recycle DOGE for MAST, but DogeCoin would also gain the ability to do anonymous transactions!

Don't forget to vote at voting.mastiffcoin.com - ~33 hours left until the votes are tallied and the next coin is selected!

DRK is such a Hopeless shitecoin based on false promise...

Get out while u can and buy NEM stakes...
NEM would be far better off without morons like yourself.

NEM is a scam dude. darkcoin for the win. my post was sarcasm.

I think the joke might be on you.

You didn't read the small print in his post or check his posting history  Wink

Sad development team, even more sad community.  "NEM" is the crown of Bitcointalk Scam.

This is an utterly intense scam.

P.S. Nice try in removing that footer Come-From-Above but not fast enough I'm afraid.

It's sad that the only way you have to attract investors is by saying that. Tells a lot on your coin.

100% DRK here, and if it's stupid according to you I plead guilty, however, I don't care about your opinion  Wink

Well, now that a master node request has arrived at the top of the bid stack, I'm afraid I'm going to have to grab that 38 DRK shot sitting at the bottom of the asks.

I can see the thinking behind that order:

 - 1000 DRK for a masternode
 - 360 DRK for day trading

That's the problem. If you're in the market for masternodes it's not enough to buy just the 1000. You need 1000+ so you can take advantage of any gains with the residual holding. Otherwise your investment is locked up on a server unavailable for trading.

Or 1360 for masternodes because he/she already has x640 DRK  Smiley

But those don't apply to darksend.
DarkSend is a variant of CoinJoin, using a new scheme of centralized mixing nodes.  It does apply.

That's an easy shortcut. If someone criticizes the first car ever made, does it also concern the ones made now ? Coinjoin was a base, but there were a lot of improvements and innovations (And there is more to come).

what is to prevent someone whos running a node to make off with the mixer coins? [...]

Thanks for the questions. It does seem like you're missing something. Although, it might not be your fault. The whitepaper is definitely out of date. We've done a lot of work at tweaking the trust model so that it can't be exploited. I'll try to explain how it works briefly, then hopefully if I get time I can revisit the whitepaper soon.

- Masternodes don't have any power over the transactions. They just coordinate the signing. All parties must sign in order for the transaction to be valid. So there's no way to cheat and take the money.
- Users submit collateral. At a later phase if a user doesn't provide the signature as agreed, the transaction will fail. Without colateral this could be done over and over bringing the system to a halt.
- Masternodes have the ability to take the collateral transaction if they wish, but it's paid to the bounty fund. So it doesn't benefit them, it just benefits the community. This removed the incentive to cheat and take the money.

There's no relying on pools at all anymore. Payments to masternodes are done with a voting system embedded into the blockchain. It would take 51% of the mining power to pay the wrong masternode, or another party (because the last few miners to solve blocks must agree on who should be paid)

Transaction currently require 3 parties to be created, so there's a short wait. There are no fake transactions to make that quicker, although this could be done. There's usually 5 or so transaction per 2.5 minutes, so the network should be able to function pretty efficiently under these requirements.

Hoping that helps . Thanks,

Evan

Something to add to the FAQ.

This also completely ignores the concept of pruning old transactions, which can be done if need be.
Is there a consensus that pruning is actually possible and doable?
Yes. Transactions which have had all outputs spent and have had ? transactions past them are no longer needed to be stored.

Speaking about the competition (a lot) gives it importance.
If that is the attitude darkcoin wants to have, we might as well give up now. In general, pretending competition doesn't exist results in one thing, and one thing only. Absolute failure.

That's not the attitude of Darkcoin, that's my opinion. And when I say "speaking" read "criticizing" don't twist it.

Dark to da moon, wish i got in early but we is still starting 2 snowball !!!

For all we know you are in early!  Dark's value could go way up from here!

I think we're going up again, 1 & 2h charts looks like cup & a handle...

Imagine if you were lucky enough to get into Bitcoin at $10-$15???

It's still extremely early for DRK...

1 Trillion Dollars a year estimate for "private" transactions taking place around the globe...

I was and then I sold them all at $20  Cry
You couldn't possibly know. But now you know, and Darkcoin has a lot of potential... So you can repeat history or not, the choice is yours.

Don't forget to report this post to a mod, fuckwits...  Kiss  Grin

Ahhh, so that's why my post got deleted by a mod before, they must have reported it...

But there was nothing to report...

Chaeplin helps the XC community by exposing flaws in their product, XC price goes up...  The more the DRK community helps XC, the more investors will invest... That is a fact...

Yep, they come to this thread, shit it up with their nonsense, then report posts with actual DRK related content, and the mods delete the useful stuff and leave the trollspam.  Roll Eyes

Useful content: things are looking really sweet on testnet right now. Smiley

Indeed, I noticed about a month or so ago a wave of ShillBois seeming to appear from nowhere promoting XC and XMR, which is fine, there is room for everyone to eat, but the way they did it, attempting to completely discredit DRK in the process...

No standards, maturity or gravitas...

Instead of wasting all that energy on trying to bring DRK down, how about you analyse what has made DRK successful, try to follow suit and do a better job.  It will be good for Crypto to have healthy competition...

Not this retarded schoolboy behavior which only turns fresh investment away from Crypto in general.  Such destructive and short sighted behavior, it really is quite embarrassing...

So don't help them anymore. It's as simple as that.  Smiley That will keep this thread clean.

I would actually like to see a formal date for master node payments. It is behind schedule now. Stuff happens, I get it, I'm in tech myself....however you should have a goal for anticipated completion. If it needs to move to the right again for good reason that is fine, but any project should have a plan and attempt to stick to it.

End of June.

Fine, I didn't know that guanchayuan was asking every single day despite you explained him.

I think the only way to calm down people asking for open source is to give a date of release.

This makes no sense.

There is no reason for a fixed date on anything.  There is no waiting client, no year end, no tax points, no waiting tenants that must move, no Christmas orders that must be met.

Get it done right always beats get it done and fix problems after.

As the Chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation recently said, some people may rely on anonymity solutions such as DRK to protect their liberty. Only fools rush in.

In programming, nothing is ever complete.  You just get to a point that is "acceptable" and bugs are discovered as you go.  That said, you need to have some kind of date when holders of masternodes can be expected to get paid considering that electricity isn't free.

I have some masternodes and I don't want a specific date, late June, early July is good enough for me. No need to rush things. But thanks for your concern.

Like we said it's currently in development. Therefore, giving a specific date is like underestimating the difficulties that may appear during this phase or trying to rush it.

A building/house is a patchwork of different technology too, but it's useful sometimes no ?
Moreover, two distinct builders use cement and bricks, does it mean that their constructions are the same ?

[...]
Until now, Darkcoin hijacked this circle by not giving back. That explain why some people ask for it.
[...]

There is no hijack, the coin is open source, DGW is open source, etc. DarkSend is currently in development therefore not open source yet. The dev team already gave a lot to the community. I don't understand your concern.
