I can set up a DMD pool on groestlcoin.biz in about 15 minutes after I have a working wallet for Ubuntu 12.04 x64. I spent about 2 hours trying to make it compile and it did eventually, but now it does not link :-)
I was planning to continue the linux wallet research, but looks like people have already found the solution?
And also, my Windows wallet that I used for solo mining on 4x R9 290 keeps crashing every time I find a block. So I'm afraid that even if I figure out how to build the Linux wallet, it'll be crashing and I'll get complaints from miners.
PS: As for stratum mining, it needs to be patched big time to make it work for Groestl algo. Took me about 2 weeks to figure everything out and test on my own. (BTW, I'm going to make this code public on 9th of May). So for now, I recommend everyone to use NOMP stratum. Hope this helps.

it would be nice to get a little bit more info about how many blocks are found by the pool each time it is found, and what is the speed and the balance of each user.
I completely agree. And I think this functionality is being worked on by the NOMP team. But to be honest, I don't think it is coming in the next weeks/months. Here is what you can do at present time: 1) Found blocks are displayed in "blocks pending by pool" section in http://groestlcoin.biz/stats2) You can see the public payouts ledger by the pool here: http://grs.42tx.com/address/FfHLhRfu5Gk4q8WxGu5Zngd3KxJCeNfthhNotice how all that got mined is sent to miners by clicking on individual transactions. 3) And finally, you can "sort of" see your hashrate here: http://groestlcoin.biz/api/statsI believe that it is possible to digest that info and show it in a nice way. But I'm not going to spend time on this yet. If you need statistics, one of the MPOS pools is a better choice. PS: In case you are wondering why this NOMP pool is 0% fee... I'll tell you. That's because of another problem in NOMP. I actually set it to 1% fee, but it ignores it. So enjoy the 0% for now (until they fix it).

The choice is connected to your hashrate iirc. Lower hashrate > Lower difficulty choice. Somebody else can hopefully weigh in with more detail Thanks Harold. I get the basic idea, but just have no idea where you would draw the line or if there is some basic formula or something to watch for that would give you an idea you should move up or down in difficulty. I have about 19.4 Mhash/s but wonder sometimes about how sometimes you get 6-8 accepted work blocks (yay!!) in one stratum block, but on others you get none. Also wondering if there is a way to see what the VarDiff is actually working at when you choose that one. I can't be the only one who wonders these things I assume you are using ccminer or CPU miner. Because in sgminer this information is clearly visible. In the long run, the difficulty doesn't really matter. And you get same payout anyways. For example, some of the Scrypt multipools use a really high share difficulty (512 or 1024) to reduce server load. 19.4 mhash is probably difficulty of 32 on Groestl. I also have 2x R9 290, which gives about 19+ mhash, I can double check what I'm getting if you want. But as I said, if you are not sure - just use VARDIFF.

How do you know which difficulty to use for the NOMP pool?
I know you can choose the vardiff port, but what should determine which you should be in on your own, and when to move?
Thanks for any insight.
URL (difficulty 16): stratum+tcp://groestlcoin.biz:3016 URL (difficulty 32): stratum+tcp://groestlcoin.biz:3032 URL (difficulty 64): stratum+tcp://groestlcoin.biz:3064 URL (difficulty 128): stratum+tcp://groestlcoin.biz:3128 URL (VARDIFF 16 - 128): stratum+tcp://groestlcoin.biz:3333
I would recommend to always use vardiff (port 3333). Unless you specifically want higher difficulty. VARDIFF will automatically try to find your optimal difficulty so that you send approximately one share in 15 seconds. Thanks

Hi Tommo!
You might want to consider using MPOS UI + NOMP stratum. Groestlcoin support is built in there. Fixing the stratum python to work with Groestlcoin is a nightmare.
Thanks srcxxx
Thanks srcxxx, I've had a play with NOMP and have it running Groestlcoin on tompool.org along with MPOS for share processing, found a block, all working Good, should I add your pool to the list? http://tompool.org:81/grsmine/public/

i got a quick question. hopefully someone can help me. i just started mining groestl (always have a hard time spelling it ) is the work utility supposed to be so low? i'm seeing around 0.0442/m for a card pushing 2.931Mh/s. is this normal behavior? Yes, that's normal

Not mining as efficiently as have previously known. hash rates seems to be fine, work being carried out is pretty slow. problems with pools? Long gaps between work being accepted. See here: https://grs.cryptohunger.com/index.php?page=gettingstartedYou are clearly using an old miner, where "difficulty-multiplier" is not set. Your share difficulty should be like 0.125, not "16" in the log. Also, difficulty of 16 is pretty high. So you're supposed to only get it relatively rare. For example, groestlcoin.biz's VARDIFF is set up to have about 1 share in 15 seconds.

I've been trying to get a GRS pool up, I run the standard MPOS + stratum setup. What changes do I need to make to stratum to support GRS? I haven't been able to find anything that helps Hi Tommo! New pool. Testers welcome. Currently found 2 blocks. http://groestlcoin.biz/0.8% proportional (go toward Groestlcoin promotion) No transfer fees Location: Amsterdam No registration necessary, just use your wallet address as login Payouts every minute (once you have more than 10 GRS in your account) Locked diff 16,32,64,128 (for high-hashers) and VARDIFF available (16-256) your pool? curious because i have been following nomp Sorry, I'm not sure what you're asking. But yes, I did set up that pool myself. It is using NOMP code. Currently it is running at 0% fee. NOMP seems like a nice, clean system. I think it lacks personal statistics. but hopefully it'll be added later.

Please make ToDo list on OP, so everyone can see the progress on this list. If I'm right NOMP is finished? ( http://groestlcoin.biz/) Hi jox! NOMP pool is officially launched since today. Currently 0% fee (even though the website says it is 1% fee). Join! Where I can see stats for my worker on this NOMP? You cannot see it in a simple way. If you are getting accepted shares in your miner, then everything is ok. If you really need to see some stuff from the stratum server, I think the only was to do it is to dig in http://groestlcoin.biz/api/statswhich prints something like this: {"time":1398897771,"global":{"workers":6,"hashrate":0},"algos":{"groestl":{"workers":6,"hashrate":131653447.99280769,"hashrateString":"125.55 MH"}},"pools":{"Groestlcoin":{"name":"Groestlcoin","symbol":"GRS","algorithm":"groestl","poolStats":{"validShares":"13876","validBlocks":"8","invalidShares":"145"},"blocks":{"pending":0,"confirmed":8,"orphaned":0},"workers":{"FdrT5JvhFkPfUhet7F6mx5ipgpgPGGeJXh":507.90319787,"FWfQ2GicEhmwkPZthLz2Zc4M443xTBFwE7":304,"Fduxi5tLF8aCrAHktAxZAj23TsvTSR3miq":870.24390245,"FmNbwT2Sh1cZx94Gnw6YPBauF5GJmbqrVu":112,"Fdy8TaMxGmbBgRXSRndvFxa5rN8o9Jxb1F":400,"Ff3FWDooxoxQWUt1H878VgDdWKCBPTiNKF":160},"hashrate":131653447.99280769,"workerCount":6,"hashrateString":"125.55 MH"}}} srcxxx

I mined 75927 GRS and when the developer left I sold up and just broke even. I thought the coin was dead. I bet you weren't not the only one… those were dark days… now I wear these… i restarted my miners......same wallet, set-up etc. were there any changes announced to wallets, forks? is this merged mining with diamond a change just for diamond? Hi coins101! No, we are trying to avoid forks as much as possible. You can even still use your wallet software (though I'd recommend that you don't, because it has the SSL heartbleed vulnerability). The merged mining update will be in Diamond wallet, our blockchain will stay "parent" and thus wallet modifications are not required. Thanks

Hi Atrides! Glad that you offered help. I might ask for it one day. Most of this web stuff (python, javascript, etc) is not really "my thing". Yes, I remember that yours was the first pool (you got 35,840 GRS bounty for it). Good luck on your big project! And BTW, perhaps your skills could help in implementing merged mining in DMD blockchain? There is 100k GRS bounty on it? PS: If you want to continue this "discussion", might I suggest to move it to "BTC sec ru" forum, it might be more fun there. Thanks srcxxx PS: I'll ignore your "worthy coin" comment above.
nothing personal, but generally ignorance of this is just the point why coins die ) Hi Atrides! Thank you for your latest interest to GroestlCoin. It's not really the "latest" interest, Dwarfpool was the first pool for Groestlcoin. I wish you had more time for us when I asked you how to implement stratum mining for GroestlCoin (2 times in this thread, PM in BTC talk, and email on your pool page). It took me about 2 weeks to figure out myself. The time that I could have spent implementing other features like Android wallet / miner.
Thank you srcxxx
I wish the same here! I have been working hard on a large project since last month, often for up to 18 hours a day. Very sorry I didn't take your request seriously, wouldn't ever think that a senior C++ developer needs two weeks for that task, if I knew, I'd have helped

Guys, please read the FAQ section on the website if you run into some troubles that others may have got also. http://www.groestlcoin.org/faq/Exactly this problem is explained there (last item). C'mon, the ccMiner says that your speed is 3-5 Gigahash! So, none of the pools mentioned show me any profit or hashrate??? Shares are getting accepted, blocks get detected. Anyone else has this issue?
EDIT: CPU mining is shown, GPU mining is doing nothing at all?
huh? 1. u added: setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 to your .BAT? 2. u have selected groestlcoin kernel in conf? something has clearly been misconfigured if uve tried multiple pools. Yes to both questions. I've tried multiple pools, Always the same result. CCminer keeps hashing away, but pools show nothing at all Edit: ccminer.exe -a groestl -o stratum+tcp://grs.cryptohunger.com:3333 -u username -p pass

Hi Atrides!
No, as soon as you have 30% or less, I'll add you back to the groestlcoin.org list. But you need to understand, 51% attack is a big deal. And it has happened to other coins.
Nothing personal.
Thanks srcxxx
so what about cpu-pool having more than 35-40% at the moment? sure 51attack is big deal to the worthy coin, while the other coins you are speaking about died in no case due to such an attack, this is a suit pretext of their devs just to shift the blame onto someone, but because they didnt get the real issues and sense of coin Fair point. cpu-pool is now also removed from the list. PS: I'll ignore your "worthy coin" comment above.

Dear Dwarves miners, I am very sorry for troubles last two hours, the issue is fixed now! http://dwarfpool.com/grsDwarfPool German quality you can trust!Dear Dwarf miners and Atrides personally! Your pool has 7.4 gigahash out of 12.7 gigahash. This is bad because of the 51% vulnerability. Please spread the hash asap [move to other pools].
Thank you srcxxx hi, please consider, dwarves take less than 50% last time, you can see it on graphs on the pool. Our shown hashrate 7.2Ghs is roughly approximate! it is not comparable with the formula in wallet, just like the other pools show. In fact we have 40-45% cryptohunger.com - 2Ghs cpu-pool.net - 5.85Ghs suprnova - 1.65 coinmine - 0.46 5limi - 0.1 -----= 10Ghs+ Dwarfpool 7.2 Total-----= 17Ghs Wallet shows total 13Ghsthe second important thing is that on dwarfpool are much less users than on the other pools (compare hunger 270, cpu 500, dwarf 110!) just because many of them are "largehash"-miners, but when one was gone today, dwarf got about 35% at once. By leaving another one-two top-miners, we'll stay with 5-10% FOREVER thanks the fact you removed my pool from your list, so that no one new miner will even know that we exist! Hi Atrides! No, as soon as you have 30% or less, I'll add you back to the groestlcoin.org list. But you need to understand, 51% attack is a big deal. And it has happened to other coins. Nothing personal.
