Another security question. If you use cold wallet for your masternode, is there any danger when someone compromises your server? Even if they manage to break the authentication they still have no access to the local wallet with 1,000 drk and can only seize wallet.dat on the server, which is usually empty, right? PS I still have a decent pw, disabled root etc. but would like to know what is the worst thing that can happen

Thanks for your views on authentication guys.. Changed my pw from 10 to 16 characters because I am too lazy to use 2FA

Good day sir, gimme money for my charity, god bless
This is exactly the reason why masternode charity donations are completely out of question

Still under 4h ichimoku, and at around 50% retracement
You are using big boys vocabulary few people in here know. Communication is a worthless noise if message that is passed is not understood Would upload a picture, but do not know how ;-/ Edit: now I know https://i.imgur.com/S3sJEBj.jpgYep, unfortunately there is no insert image here... Images have to be online and can be included using the img tag: [img]http://www.abc.com/image.jpg[/img] Edit: too late Edit 2: Thx for the pic!

Is DarkTor the definite name? The word Tor is becoming a little synonymous with drugs and child porn. VPN and others not so much.
Agree with DarkCoin and DarkTor - anonymous payment & data transfers are inevitably also dark and the name of the currency should support it. Loud, clear and unambiguous image is Important for building the media presence. And no VPN - the technical concept is much closer to Tor so I am glad we are calling it that way.

Whatever exchange you use, make sure you have activated 2FA, if you have trouble with it, dont leave ANY coins on ANY exchange.
i had trouble with my 2FA so i got it disabled, but i didnt take out my coins as soon as cryptsy had disabled it, and in less than 24 hours, i had lost my 131 drk.
Since i have 2FA on my gmail, they could not just withdraw, so what they did instead was trade all my coins to GDC and sold it to another account...
So, Please remember, USE 2FA AT ALL TIMES! and if not, make sure you dont have any coins ANYWHERE else but your wallet (with backup of your wallet.dat)
Can I ask you 1) how complicated your pw was? 2) whether you reused the pw on other websites? I am using 10 characters long unique pw - would you say I still need the 2FA? How could anyone compromise my account?

Would be great to eventually brand and name it something that promotes these aspects of its use. I love Tor and its capabilities, just hate the word Tor as it has been smeared in the mainstream. But makes sense to call it DarkTor in the present stages as it easily explains what it is.
Could call it DarkMesh or something similar so its not "Tor" Technically it is similar to Tor so I agree with the name, no need to come up with junknames.

The thing is our concept is Tor-like rather than VPN-like

Utilizing the Masternode network - DarkTor
One of the future goals is to turn the masternode network into a decentralized business for masternode operators. To do this we’ll add features that improve the privacy of end users and compete with centralized businesses. Our first endeavor into this is to make a completely private tor network within Darkcoin. ..... As for the cost of the service we’re thinking $0.50 per day or something to that effect. To anyone who has ever interacted with VCs, either raising money, investing or brokering, this figure is the key indicator that is missing from crypto, generally. Offering a service such as DRK Tor and charging a fee, regardless of whether it is $0.01 or $5 per day, makes DRK an investment asset. If you buy 1,000 DRKs, you will get an ROI. How big that ROI just went speculative because we don't know how much end users would be willing to pay. This isn't a launch a currency and try and get some merchants to use it. This is an anonymous, decentralised, business entity. The number of users could be millions, to tens to hundreds of millions, each day. The annual revenues could be $hundreds of millions to $billions. DRK valuation is now linked to what people think the value of the network could be in a few years time, on an investment basis. Its current value could be $100m - $300m. All you have to do is look at the second and third rounding found raised by Twitter or any mass adoption tech start-up. You know this is real. You know this is how Silicon Valley works. You know DRK is about to go ballistic from all the new Master Node owners that want a piece of the ROI action year, after year, after year. We are talking about Tor on steroids here. But in addition to encryption and anonymisation of connection you can add decent transfer speed and payments. Dozens of thousands users would go for it straight away and as you say, the sky is the limit.

Look at the dates of the articles... raid in 2006, 2009, 2011... All in all, there were maybe 10 raids over the previous 10 years around the world. The Austrian case seems to be the only one when the guy received a sentence but it likely involved more than ownership of the exit node...

maybe we should avoid calling it DarkTor.. maybe we should call it DarkFreedom
DarkTor is great for getting the publicity, no one cares about DarkMadeUpStuff

Mistake? Will lost in front of the courts and is on probation now.
That looks very strange. Never hear of similar case, the guy must have been involved in something. Will search for more details, thanks. Anyway, the same thing may happen for using crypto - exchanging the money is more sensitive than exchanging information

We’re very interested to get the community’s response to see if it’s viable . I do have concerns about viability of the DarkTor concept. TOR exit nodes face some challenging liability issues because of the statistical likelihood they will output illegal content at some point (see discussion at https://www.torproject.org/eff/tor-legal-faq). For that reason many TOR node operators choose to only operate relay nodes. If the proposal here is to essentially turn every masternode into a potential TOR exit node (when its turn comes up in some deterministic algorithm), I think that could present new and challenging new legal risks for DRK's masternode operators AND the providers that host them, at least in many jurisdictions. THANK YOU. Call me a troll, you haven't seen me troll. I'm legitimately asking questions here not saying fake buy points or "DUMP DUMP DUMP". There needs to be a dialog for Masternode owners to opt-out obviously. Some people are not going to be comfortable running a Tor node, or at least an exit node. Anonymised payments are IMO more sensitive than anonymous traffic. So I am all in.

Tor and legality:
- if the provider (exit node owner) has no control over data send through his node and he is not snooping data in any way there is no responsibility for the data handled. This is exactly what Master Node Tor will look like.
Yes this is the law theory, yet still you have incidents like what happened in Australia where the cops essentially raided a guys home with a SWAT team because he was running a Tor exit relay. I'm struggling to find cases in the USA where people were arrested for operating Tor nodes. There must be at least one, maybe a test case? Raided the house because they thought he was the provider of child abuse material.. They will not do the same mistake twice

I feel ike I'm on some-kinda, MN shit list.
Last MN payment : 2014-08-10 - ugh
When I complained about getting 1 payment in 20 days you told me that everything irons out in the long-term & to STFU remember? Not really - LOL - I was probably drunk. Maybe karma put me on the MN shit-list ;-P Did your payments ever pick-up? Actually they did - after the RC4! There had to be something shitty before but what matters is that now I am getting a fair share. Did you receive no payment because you were not elected or because the pool did not pay you? If it is the latter than that will improve soon
