I thing You would love wait for a module till December
It was stated Upgrade Modules would be "in hand" and ship immediately upon ordering, once B3 was shipping in force. That would be now... Also note that this is the first time I believe Avalon has planned to sell something ready-to-ship day one. Joke of the month. ... tiny fraction of Avalon orders compared to unshipped chips.
Yeah the joke is on you who thought chips wouldn't ship like Avalon has shipped so far. Sporadic and delayed, but someone somewhere is always getting a few... ...asicminer has the best track record delivery wise.
Fair enough. But most of the hashing power in individual USERs hands today came from AVALON. 10yo boy speaking with himself.... all your childish wishes point to Avalon support.
Better than a 10yo playing with himself while he waits for his chips I suppose I have a Batch2 in hand. Sure it took forever. But still, very satisfied would do again! Since they offered FPGA upgrades for cheap, why not kill all the whiners by offering cheap modules to existing ASIC buyers? (batch 3 whiners, looking at you!)

14BTC - this is a good rig convert it to LTC and you could make a lot of $$$ with this...

Well anyone who has been around knows this these have started, and is on pace for what I think most should consider an average "asic timeline" (ie not one blissfully hoped for by the manufacturer)...
People first complained B2 was late, avalon should die. Then it arrived. Then B3 was late, then B3 shipped but only PSUs, and no 4 modules, then only 4 modules, now finally no PSU 3 Modules. Now everything is shipping!
Avalon clones are appearing in the wild. Initial chip batches have started shipping (again if you are complaining about that timeline you haven't been paying attention, of course they will be somewhat late!).
Avalon eventually delivers. I just want them to deliver upgrade modules. Maybe all those complaining about B3 delays could be offered a reduced price module upgrade? Maybe the next-gen Avalon ASIC will have a trade-in program?
I think Avalon while being overly optimistic still has the best track record by far.

So Avalon, when do we get module upgrades for the batches? I remember the last newsletter saying they would announce "upgrade modules for sale" around this time.... Lots of us 3-module guys would like to go 1 more ASAP.
Thanks!

Hard to believe that people who have been on here so long and witnessed countless scam after scam after scam and still you will send non refundable non traceable anon btc for things months away and think nothing might go wrong ? It's one thing to say the risk was low and justify why you believed so but to say "nothing can go wrong" with sending 100,000s or even 1,000,000s just boggles my mind. Then you get hero members scolding everyone "make sure you escrow". ROFL
This is exactly why I was scared of "chip" sales and bought B2/B3 instead. Sure it was overpriced, but I had ONE point of failure to worry about, not many! (how many layers of "this could go wrong" do you need to build a working ASIC on the chip sales? too many!) As others have stated, Avalon runs 3-5months late, chip sales are what 5 weeks delayed now? You guys still have twice to three times as long to wait

Whining is easier than killing the goose thats laying the golden eggs

I suspect that the 'without PSU' option while a good idea when proposed by Yifu is turning out to be a logistical problem.
Seems to be the case! Although why can't you just keep the same PS and test three systems then install it and ship it with the 4th? Has anyone been able to open a ticket to add a PS? My tickets previously to add a module were ignored. I had wanted to add a module to my B2 as they said "add-on" modules would be opened up halfway through B3 or so.

As a Batch 2 owner and also waiting on a B3... I waited over 3 months past the original ETA for my B2 box.
Those of you thinking "chips" would magically arrive on time ether haven't been up on things obviously or need a hard dose of reality... When the chips are ready we will hear from Avalon and everything will be relatively fine and dandy.
I went through all kinds of emotions waiting for my B2 box. Sure it might sound a little "Stockhom Syndrome"-esq but the reality is Avalon is consistently late (not nearly as bad as BFL obviously) and is more of a "best effort" Quality of Service level guarantee. To expect German precision production on this is just, well lets say "too optimistic".
Everyone may gripe, but we are not about to kill the goose laying the golden eggs.

I honestly doubt if you had purchased a 3-module B3 you would have that right now either.
Like last time, it appeared some people got B2 really early. They got "older" designs (silver cases and/or earlier internals). Then it took a month+ to really get more units out the door.
So far we have seen a few reports of Batch 3 being delivered, but they have all been Batch 2 designs (black w/ circular black grill) and my hypothesis is these were just "leftover" Batch 2s more or less. (psu included also seems to confirm this) My guess is we will see in a couple/few weeks a ton of Batch 3's being delivered with the square "cut" grill designs. Probably with 4 module ones also.
Put another way:
I have a Batch 2 order that recently arrived (3-months late from original "claimed" B2 shipping dates). I am waiting on a Batch 3 (3-module). If you have been watching anything about Avalon shipping, it is basically random. Your only real option is to suck it up like the rest of us. Just because 1% of B3 was delivered thus far doesn't mean you got screwed due to ordering a 4 module unit.

Okay so network engineer and Batch 2 owner here...
What did you do? Set the IP to a public one? 67.204.32.5?
Here's how to fix it:
Make your PC: 67.204.32.6 255.255.255.0
Log into: 67.204.32.5
REMOVE that IP, do you know what your regular IP behind your router? If you use 192.168.1.x then set it to say 192.168.1.200, gateway 192.168.1.1, mask 255.255.255.0, DNS 4.2.2.2
You never answered WIRED or WIRELESS.

Amazon didn't set that price - note:
"Sold by AnkerDirect"
So its like an eBay seller putting an insane BIN price..

* Avalon stated the would not premine, would not mine with clients equipment and would test (burnin) on testnet. Unfortunately this turned out to be a blatant lie. see here for further details. To be fair: My Batch #2 Avalon had three pools configured by default with FAILOVER configured. The first two pools appeared to be the internal testnet pools. The third pool was this eligius pool. Based on the flat line from 2nd June - 10 July its not like "they ran these for a month".

I thought 4 modules was the most? Where did you hear about 6 modules?
6 modules was a very early estimate before any batches were even shipping really. It turns out they stuck with 4. Somebody who has batch 1 is telling me batch 1 is better and batch 2 had problems. Is this correct?
FUD. B2 is actually better than B1, better power supplies and better board revisions. Any box sent out recently has solved those issues you "heard" of.

FYI tradeins just got priced at 17 BTC (which is fair ofc).
Whoa. Makes me wonder what the soon-to-be-released upgrade modules will cost? 5-10BTC range? Has anyone tried to revise their existing B3 order from 3 to 4 modules and gotten a response from Avalon?

There's a fuse on the board that needs to be removed to fix it. I am actually curious myself how to remove it. The wiki says to remove the fuse but doesn't give any instructions. I actually ran Ethernet and put a switch in for my boxes, so I don't need the WiFi anyway. is this the F1 fuse they were talking about a while back? i have a batch 2 delivered just last week which i thought had that fuse already removed. am i wrong? plus i've already disabled dhcp and am running a direct ethernet connection. This is a known issue, the solution is if you are plugged in via wired to disable the wifi interface as it sucks too much power while constantly searching for an AP. I think some people uninstall the wifi package or something? Not sure what the correct term is... It was said you do NOT have to remove the F1 fuse on the newer B2 Avalons, as the flaw in the old board design has been fixed and the F1 fuse is correct in the current boards.
