I think you’re right. Most people want to believe that deep down other people are kind and warmhearted. I think most people are superficially kind and warmhearted but deep down they’re competitive vicious sadistic assholes.

You don’t qualify according to the rules of this thread but I gave you one for the privacy coin thread. It’s kind of a cool list with a good little breakdown of each one. Keep that kind of “value add” posting and you’ll be fine.

“Try my luck” You spend too much in the gambling sub. LOL You’ve been here since 2016 but you only have a 185 activity. You will need to post more before you can gain rank. You know to get Sr. Member you’re going to need a 240 activity. At the rate you’re posting now it’s going to take you at least a year. Your posts are good. There’s a reasonable chance that if the right person saw some of them you would get merit. You seem to be from the UK but speak both Arabic and French which to me is an odd combination but kind of cool. I have a question for you. How important do you feel gambling is for the bitcoin ecosystem? I spent a little time looking at the different online casinos to see if I could tell how much bitcoin relies on gambling and I think at times it could be as much as 50% of the daily transactions. As a gambler, you might have a better feel for that. I think gambling is too important for the bitcoin ecosystem, The most of casinos sites are too rich with bitcoin, so This is expected if you see in time that gambling could be as much as 50% of the daily transactions of bitcoin. In addition, I think that a lot of members in the bitcoin community are gamblers, and liked to gamble with cryptocurrencies, especially bitcoin instead of gambling with fiat. They can easily access to gambling sites without any restrictions that can found in casinos and gambling site which accept only fiat. Sorry for the late reply. Because you don’t have much post history I’m going to split the amount and give you 10 merit. If you continue to participate in bitcoin discussions and pry yourself out of the gambling sub, you should be able to rank up before you reach enough activity. You’re going to need to become more involved and post more.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong! I'm getting the impression that most of the people don't know Merit, or don’t give a **** to rewarding other people!
I usually don't write big posts, or fully analyze a cryptocurrency, but I think I am a useful member for the community! If you go through my post you will see that I usually help people out with their doubts!
I really need help... What should I change in my posts in order to get more merit points? I only have received 2 merits and I need a bunch to rank up to Sr. Member!
Your a purely altcoin bounty hunter. I don’t know enough about what makes alt people tick to be able to help you appeal to their merit giving mindset. You need to look for merit given in that section and see why people are giving it or perhaps ask the giver why they thought that post was worthy of merit. Good luck to you.

Thank you.
I believe they will get the merit they deserve. There are a lot of people giving merit now and it’s only a matter of time before people are ranking up without realizing it. If people spend their time worrying about rank then they’re here for the wrong reasons and they shouldn’t be here anyway.
And you aren’t applying because?
Sorry to say but i don't know why i feel weird to direct you toward my 10-20 specific posts. I will be happy if you go through my post history and rate accordingly, so i would able to know where i am standing. You shouldn’t feel weird. Anyone can look at your post history anytime they want to. I don’t know why anyone would look at someone’s post history because most people’s post history is boring as hell. The reason I asked you why you aren’t applying is because I already looked at your post history. You easily qualify. You understand the value of bitcoin and support it. You truly participate in discussions. You argue bitcoins value over alts at every turn. It looks like you might be swayed by ethereum but I won’t hold that against you. If you value a currency that has a fixed deflationary quantity versus a maybe we will end the inflation rate some time in the future but no promises currency then you will choose bitcoin. If you like a crypto that has a solid proven PoW security system versus a bipolar PoW/PoS, maybe someday completely PoS, maybe not, currency then you’ll choose bitcoin. No one needs ethereum for smart contracts either, bitcoin can do that with Omni. Even talking about ethereum gives me “gas” (pun intended). 20 merit awarded

Thanks a lot for this QA. The fact that I am getting educated with your thread alone is even good enough for me. Gone are those days when one can easily find interesting topics to contribute and also gain some knowledge on this forum, but it seems we are getting back to that phase gradually with the merit system. Please let me know if you have any question for me and if I deserve your merit or not. Cheers!
I have to say, I’m on the fence about you. You participate in bounty threads, twitter campaigns and altcoins but appreciate bitcoins strength and resilience. You obviously support bitcoin. You profit from being here but that’s not the only reason you’re here. You’re not just posting quick one liners. You’re helpful to new people without being condescending and answer accurately. Many of your posts qualify for merit. Why don’t you push me over the fence to your side. Did you come here to make money and accidentally got trapped into interesting discussions or vice versa? Do you think understanding and supporting altcoins help people learn about and appreciate bitcoin? I would rather say it is the other way round. I came here for interesting discussions as well as to learn, but I must confess that I accidentally got trapped a little bit in making money alongside of it. I see that as just a benefit anyway, not like it really matters. Even without making money on this forum, I have always loved interesting debates and discussions, so that would not have changed anything. To your second question, understanding and supporting altcoins, should not even stop anyone from learning about bitcoin or appreciating it and vice versa. There is a lot to learn and altcoins are just a little bit part of the puzzle. I cannot say if it directly helps people learn about and appreciate bitcoin or not, but those who are smart enough usually get to know over time that bitcoin has no rival, and altcoins are just there tagging along. Bitcoin is the first and most popular cryptocurrency, with a lot of advantage to those who appreciate it, moreover, most of us who are really here to learn, actually bumped here as a result of our interest in bitcoin, decentralization and the whole idea of blockchain technology, then along the line, we got to familiarize ourselves with altcoins. Also, like I normally say, you cannot compel people to believe what they do not want to believe, experience usually end up teaching them the right thing to believe, so with or without altcoins, those who know the true value of bitcoin won't need anyone to tell them. I can agree with that completely. Altcoins are a diversion from the real reason this forum exists. Making money here is a diversion as well. It’s not the reason for the forum but it is a reason to be here. If cryptocurrency is going to survive bitcoin will be its best destiny. 20 merit awarded

I've had terrible experiences in that website (4000$ stollen because of some fucker claiming that the zelle transfer was a fraud). Tell me about your experience!
I’m confused, didn’t you meet in person? Did you do the exchange with the person sitting in front of you?

Hello everyone! Since my thread is located in the services section and my only purpose is to help co-members and contribute something for the betterness of this Bitcoin community I will try my luck if this post really deserves a merit from you guys. Thank you in advance. Here is the link kindly check: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2727673.0Oh my god, that’s very green. I feel like I just flew to the emerald city on the back of a flying monkey. LOL I’m not sure if that benefits anyone or not. I’m sure it benefits advertisers and sig campaign hunters but that’s not really the reason I’m doing this thread. I don’t think I can help you with that but it is pretty though.

@QuestionAuthority i just stumbled upon your thread here, giving away smerits for full members and above, who are interested in bitcoin. i really have to say, that you made my day. why? because, since the huge popularity of crypto last year, i have the feeling that everyone is getting greedier and greedier. Thus, your thread and offer are really refreshing, and lets me believe that generousity on bct is not dead yet. keep it up! you are the real mvp Thank you for the kind words. There have been many nice exclusively altcoin people, like yourself, that come to this thread to show support even knowing that I can’t help them. Best of luck to you.

Well, it doesnt stated on your first post so im just gonna take my chance to do it and post again, pardon me if im wrong, but i would like to propose a link to my thread about you https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2947171.msg30272338#msg30272338If i am at wrong, please just tell me kindly, as what you have stated that full member, sr.member, and hero member really got screwed by this system, so here i am. Thank you for your help and support but I don’t think this thread needs anymore advertising. I’m danger close to running out of merit so bringing more people here will just lead to a lot of disappointment.

EthanB, it sounds like you got the general idea. Based on your post history in the economics sub I thought you would find Mastercoin/Omni Layer interesting. The possibilities using Omni Layer are pretty exciting. Omni opens bitcoin to trading on a DEx, crowdfunding, becoming any currency (including real estate, gold, etc.) using a smart contract, betting, decentralized businesses, decentralized labor contracts and much more. The best part is it makes bitcoin more valuable because Omni transactions are Bitcoin transactions. You should keep looking into it.

I don’t care if you take some time to research the answer if you come up with the correct answer. That just means I’ve made you learn more about bitcoin than you knew previously.
That's a really positive gesture, very few people in community have this kind of attitude and intention to educate people if they don't know much instead of degrading them. I really like your idea and how beautifully you have presented, i wish deserving users should get maximum of the merits they need. Thank you. I believe they will get the merit they deserve. You easily have enough posts to qualify. You're helpful to new people, ask the right questions and learn as you go. You really seem to really enjoy your time here and selling is a great way to support the cause. Here’s a question for you. What is Bitcoin Omni Layer, what was it called at its inception and will it change the way bitcoin functions as a currency? Here’s a hint on what it is: the bitcointalk user “dacoinminster” created it.

Those type of rags to riches stories are over for bitcoin.
If you invested $1,000 in bitcoin at $1 per coin, when the exchange rate hit $1,000 per coin you’re a millionaire.
If you invested $1,000 in bitcoin at $8,000 per coin, when the exchange rate hits $8,000,000 per coin you’re a millionaire. That’s a lot of really good news and adoption happening for a very long time.
Unfortunately, Bitcoins day for making instant millionaires is over. The focus should change to what bitcoin can do for society. Using bitcoin for purchases instead of hoarding is best at this point.

What would happen if the Thai police decide to confiscate the btc and liquidate them. How quickly could you sell 100k btc and where would you sell them?
Police might destroy those 100,000 Bitcoins. Police burns/destroys tigers, lions, elephants, rhinos bones and skins when they can earn multi-million dollars. $400,000,000 worth of drugs are set on fire by police at one go. Whoa, that’s a lot of burned coins. I didn’t know that about the Thai police. So the 21m coins might shrink again. Oh well, that’s better than dumping them on the market I suppose.

eddie13, I can help with 20 of it but, like you pointed out, you still have a long way to go. You have a lot more than 20 posts that could reasonably have received 1 merit.

Wow, that’s pretty detailed. I don’t think there’s any hiding that I’m a merit source now. LOL
I’m giving away merit because it’s supposed to be given away. Even when I’m no longer a source I will still always give away everything that I have because that’s what merit is for. Merit is not bitcoin it can’t be sold and shouldn’t be horded.
Every Legendary member received nearly 200 merit at the beginning of this system so I should be seeing more people in the stats page with over 100 merit given. If you’re all waiting to give merit to Ralph Waldo Emerson or Henry David Thoreau type posts then you are never going to give it away and you’re helping the forum fail to control the one thing I’ve seen you all bitch about.
I’m giving away merit to help everyone rank up except shit posters that are only here to make money. It doesn’t matter what section you post in or what you say as long as it’s a productive discussion.
I also give away merit for two other reasons. If the subject should have more exposure I give it merit. That means more people should know about it for some reason (in other words it can help them). I also give merit to highlight important topics that might be difficult for some people to find. I was going to highlight the thread explaining activity but I saw that someone already did.
Everyone should be giving merit to people participating in discussions all over the forum all the time. Even if someone disagrees with you and argues with you give them merit because they’re doing something other than posting one stupid line to rank up.
I guess everyone already know you are a source after you spend about 500 sMerits hehe. Yeah, i agree with you, sMerits should be given to a great post which brings a productive discussion in every section, and there is nothing good happens by holding up merits, in fact i want to give merits too and make something like your thread in the future if i have enough merits. Is there anything that i can add to stimulate other newbie to be more positive? I can’t think of anything. It seems most of the new people came here with very little knowledge and only to chase a quick profit. Gone are the members of the cypherpunks mailing list, cryptography nerds, rebel open source coders, anarchists and libertarians. Welcome in the complacent, conformist money hungry abusers of the system created by the group that came before them. There are still good people here. Just support them when you have the opportunity.
