I wouldn't say England's lack of quality spinners is the only problem. England's main problem is their poor batting. None of the batsmen in the squad is in good form. Every batsman's performance is good. As every pitch is quite batting friendly. So if the batsmen do not perform well on such a pitch, it is impossible to get a good result. We have seen England's poor batting in every match except the match against Bangladesh. And England have no chance of qualifying for the semi-finals after a humiliating defeat against Sri Lanka. Really pathetic performance from the Netherlands. When they managed to defeat South Africa, a lot of people were praising them and were asking the ICC to provide more opportunities for the associate nations. But today's defeat was so embarrassing that this is not just a setback for the Dutch but also for the associate nations as a whole. The ICC on the other hand has got the perfect example to exclude associates from future events. There is no justification for their poor performance today. It was just plain horrible.
We can't expect much from them, they did their best, and expecting them to win against big teams every match is too much in my opinion. Their brilliance will inspire more people to play the game, so over the next few years they will have a complete side to beat the other side. Yes, it's pathetic performance, but they showed they can beat a team like SA too so that they will embrace for a while.
