381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best airdrop you ever got (or didnt get) on: November 09, 2017, 08:51:31 AM
The best was AltCommunity Coin (ALTCOM). An interesting coin, multiple airdrops (I missed the first two), 180% POS, recently listed on Coinmarketcap. PoSToken was another interesting airdrop.
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DEEPONION - My opinion!! Stay away on: November 09, 2017, 07:10:00 AM
If those numbers in the OP are true I'm not sure you can talk about "for nothing".

8 Onions at 70 cents are less than $6 per week for a signature campaign, and only if you actually spend $70 on Onions to even participate in the first place. That's much less than even the worst paying signature campaigns... so I don't know how that's supposed to attract people.

Joining any other signature campaign would be worth more than joining the DO campaign, even for those who believe in the project. Would make more sense to do another campaign and buy Onions with the profits than to do the Onion campaign directly if the numbers here are true (idk if they are).

But who knows, maybe the numbers are wrong and DO will end up surprising everyone. Keep seeing it everywhere after all, which seems strange for $5 a week... so maybe there is something to it?

Anyway good luck to everyone participating, hope for you it's not a scam and will be worth your time.

My thoughts exactly. It may be an interesting project, but my earlier application was rejected and after carefully reading the new rules I see no reason to apply again. It is simply not worth doing unless you have thousands of DO coins already.
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - BLOOM - ONLINE - new virtual fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin on: November 09, 2017, 06:41:55 AM
Got this week's airdrop yesterday. The stress-test was a very impressive feat, congratulations! However, I think a lot of people (including me) will not claim the distributed BTX in the near future. I was waiting for Segwit2x and planned to combine splitting of BTC (if necessary), and claiming Bitcoin Gold and BTX. Now with Segwit2x cancelled and the future of Bitcoin Gold uncertain I am reluctant to move all my BTC to a new wallet, and I do not want to expose my private keys without doing it. Anyway, the amount of BTC I hold and the corresponding amount of BTX is small. I suspect a lot of people have similar thoughts.
384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are the potential risk in joining an airdrop? on: November 08, 2017, 12:27:39 PM
The main risk seems to be getting more e-mail spam. I also never join "airdrops" asking for a donation, never give my private keys to anyone, and install any new wallet programs in a virtual machine. Other than that, an e-mail address dedicated to various forums and GMail spam filter do the job.

My rank change to Full Member today, I've updated my signature and set the avatar. Please update the spreadsheet (line no. 5).
386  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Returning to BTC after a few years... on: November 08, 2017, 07:02:05 AM
So, back when bitcoin was new-ish by suggestion from a friend.  I started faucets and and tried mining with my computer; which was alright, and by the time that I stopped I had about $20 in coin and I left it there for a few years or so until coming back recently and seeing how much bitcoin is now and then regretting not keeping up with the faucets and mining. My little $20 that I had is now worth almost $250 USD.

Yest, those were good times. I also mined bitcoin using an old computer and then a few servers I had access to.

Is mining with the PC even a option anymore?  Are faucets even worth it?  What's the best way to get back into this with having literally no income to actually invest with?

Mining bitcoin using a computer or even a server farm now is meaningless. ASICs are orders of magnitude faster and the difficulty increased accordingly. However, it is possible to mine some altcoins using GPUs or even CPUs (Monero, for example). Faucets are not worth it, you can get more from airdrops here. It may be better to participate in signature campaigns here.
387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Surviving segwit2x hardfork on: November 07, 2017, 09:48:03 AM
I'm holding BTC in a local wallet (not online, not exchanges) and an almost equal amount of Bitcoin Cash. I'll just wait until the dust settles, especially because the upcoming split may be not peaceful.
388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing all our Money in bitcoin is good or Investing little portion of saving on: November 06, 2017, 06:46:47 PM
Investing everything you have into anything is a bad idea. You can loose a lot. Bitcoin may rise further (and it will probably do), but it may experience a significant correction. I suggest investing only a small portion and to buy at the dips, not when the price is all time high.

Snapshot + airdrop will take longer today. Hold your BTX in your wallet if you want to receive it!
The devs' main focus is on the blockchain-stress-test right now.

I expected that when I checked my balance today.  No worries, the stress test is much more important. The airdrop may wait a few days.
390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Tangerine (Ex-Mandarin) - Democratic Cryptocurrency Exchange on: November 05, 2017, 08:38:06 PM

Our alpha test started, first of all we let investors try it, we're sending invitations by mail, check your boxes. At the moment, about 25% of investors have sent invitations, the mailing continues.

You can find the login address along with the data in the email, I want to note that the domain mandarin.top will not be used later, it will automatic redirect to the current address, after the test. The support address admin@mandarin.top is still functional.

Please note that the trades are not real, do not try to send money to the account as well as withdraw from the account (all were credited with 5000 test dollars for the possibility of placing orders).

After the investors, the bounty participants will have accesss, and all comers, the bounty will also begin to search for bugs.

Great news! I suspected that the actual exchange domain will be different, but the fact that the website used for ICO is down made people worry (including me).

Remember that we are trying for you. We recognize that we did not need to announce the start date on October 15, we would like them to be in front of competitors, but we haven't done everything in such short time, but we sincerely do not understand why so much discontent, given that our competitors, the same OpenANX, which gathered ICO in July, promise to launch the exchange only in the next (!) year, and nobody calls them a scam.

I suppose the promise to launch the exchange immediately after the ICO lead people to think that you already have functioning and tested exchange engine.

The website http://www.mandarin.top/ is down. Is the alpha-version starting on another domain? Or is it the end of the project?
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PoW/PoS180%]AltCommunityCoin [YoBit][Active Development] on: November 03, 2017, 07:30:09 AM
It's morning, I've been browsing Coinmarketcap and was pleasantly surprised! Congratulations!
394  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why dump your free coins? on: November 03, 2017, 06:55:40 AM
A lot of currently airdropped coins are just 'pump and dump', there is nothing behind them. Recent 'eSomething' coins are a good example. There are interesting airdropped coins that have a future, but they are few.

Received the tokens, thanks!
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you surprise by bitcoin price now? on: November 02, 2017, 02:26:47 PM
Yes, to some extent, but more by the speed of the increase, not by the price itself. I was expecting the price to stagnate until Segwit2x, then to drop. There definitely will be a correction, probably after the fork, but from higher levels. For me it's a pleasant surprise, I'm a holder...
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC near 7000$ on: November 02, 2017, 08:13:00 AM
I would suggest to hold unless you need some money immediately. I am a long term holder. There will probably be a fork in about two weeks and I will store all my coins in a secure local (not online) wallet until the situation clears. Yes, there will be a significant correction after such rise, no doubt about it. The question is: from what level? Nobody knows, the price may start to decrease immediately or may rise for another thousand. Such sharp spikes are completely unpredictable.

Airdrop received, thank you! Waiting for further development. Pre-ICO starts in less than a day, right?

Interesting project. Like many of your team, I'm a software developer. Sometimes I need an advice, sometimes I provide a consultation. Getting paid for the latter may be a good idea in some cases.

Some disclosure may be tolerable for individuals, but it is deadly for companies. All of their contracting parties, sales, customers, account amounts, and every other little, petty detail would all become public.

...that that's actually a good thing. Oh heavens beware if cooperations would be forced to run transparently. How would you keep your investors in the dark? How would you cook your books?

Oh lordy.

Yes, that's a good thing. The idea of companies that are completely financially transparent (including banks and other financial institutions) came to my mind a few times. it would be great for most people.
