3801  Economy / Economics / Re: COVID advanced the world into the future on: July 24, 2021, 06:14:50 PM
Indeed, COVID acted as a catalyst to speed up the rates of numerous innovations, inventions  and new ways of life which would have otherwise taken some time to achieve. More lives were saved than was lost. More jobs were save than was lost. Folks picked up new health habits. Till date I still wash my hands for at least 30 to 60seconds.

One of the most important COVID-19 pandemic taught the world is that digital workflows, robots, automation are not some ideals to strive towards in the future but a present and non-escapable  requirement and a must.
3802  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do in 2030? on: July 23, 2021, 03:37:10 PM
I wish I can say that by then, I'd be touring the galaxies with Jeff Bezos or Richard Branson. I wish I can tell you that by then I'd be on if the first settlers in Mars 😁. What about cryptocurrencies would it still be decentralized? I wish I can say so but I can't. I wish I can predict that we'd not come face to face with another pandemic that would threaten human existence, I can't. What I can say is that, I am damn sure that by 2030, I would have multiple streams of income that would cut across the cryptocurrency space. By 2030, I would also be one of those who would have played my part no matter how little to achieve most of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Of course I want my children's children to live in a better and more sustainable future. By 2030 I'm sure, we'd have figured out a solution to the various economic and social problems (pension, low wage, high cost of living, inflation, retirement) facing the baby boomers, Gen Z, Millennials and whichever will come next.
3803  Economy / Gambling discussion / Should online gambling companies be responsible for harm related activities? on: July 23, 2021, 02:43:07 PM
Most online gambling companies claim that they are ethical providers who are committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices.

They propose,  that their CSR are targeted at preventing or minimizing the harm associated with their activities. However,  we are aware that those who are severely addicted to gambling have shown several mental and physical health, social relationships and academic and work performance issues.

Have these companies taken any steps to minimize the harm related to online gambling?  Is their CSR functional? Not all bet sites encourage responsible gambling because they rely on revenue from the losses of  gambling addicts. My question is, should online gambling companies be responsible for the harm related to their activities because of their current failures in the implementation and control of CSR policies?

3804  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To what extent can sport be strengthened with cryptocurrencies on: July 23, 2021, 01:59:54 PM
Although, the adoption of cryptocurrencies in sports is only just beginning,I can say that the future is bright. In recent times, cryptocurrencies are already proving to be a crucial part of the sports industry. For example, Fan tokens gives sports fans the ability to be able to influence certain decisions made by their favorite club. So basically, fans hold their club tokens can vote over decisions such as training grounds, kit designs, or charity initiatives. Amazing isn't it? This in itself creates a sense of ownership. Additionally, sponsors have been attracted to sports all thanks to its introduction to the sports world. We have also seen the monetization of fan engagement as discussed earlier. There's only so much cryptocurrency can do in the world of sports and it's just getting started.
3805  Other / Off-topic / Re: Slapping Tournament on: July 23, 2021, 11:45:38 AM
With this kind of tournament some people might not be able to survive past the first five slaps being exchanged in my country. There is already poverty and hardship in my country, people have had to turn to difficult menial jobs to be able to get some little amount of money daily sometimes not even more than $8.

Sometimes you shake someone's hand and you can feel the numbness in their palms that have hardened from all the hard work. If someone like that is put into a tournament like this, the opponent will suffer because each slap will feel like being hit by a plank of some sort.

This sport is scary, lol.
3806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The houses always win, are you the house or the gambler? on: July 23, 2021, 07:14:57 AM
Winning is a relative term, we win in different ways, the prize for winning sometimes is not always money, it may just be sheer satisfaction or networking (friendship & contact).

Because this is a gambling board, i'll like to elucidate further using an example- the gambler and the casino. I'm a gambler, i have so enough money that i can afford to gamble, i like to gamble not because i always want to win money, but because i like the casino environment, i like the people i meet there and the new connections i make whenever i go to the casino, i do not mind the casino having a fraction of my money through gambling bets that i loose because as a business they have to make money too and i understand that. Don't get me wrong, i do not mind getting some money there as well at times by winning a bet, but i do not always consider the money as the win for me. I win whenever i make a new friend, have a new contact, because for me connections really matter.

So whenever i achieve my goal of hanging out in a casino, i always win, whether i loose a bet or not.
3807  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do most cryptocurrencies rise and fall together? on: July 23, 2021, 07:01:04 AM
FOMO. Fear of missing out or loosing is the reason why most cryptocurrencies rise and fall together. When people watch the market news and there's a negative news that they know will affect cryptocurrency market, they either pump and dump their current crypto holding depending on the kind of effect the news is predicted to cause. Nobody wants to lose so they do what they have to do. And as we already know, most of these coins are  tied to BTC.
3808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if all the currencies in the movie are Bitcoin? on: July 23, 2021, 04:23:32 AM
If you happen to be the type that see lots of movies maybe for educational or entertainment sake, you will get to notice that the entertainment industry use movies and musics as a great way to introduce a technology, culture or something else to people first, sometimes so it doesn't look strange later or for some other reasons.

Take for instance, same sex marriage and homosexuality was not a thing in movies originally, but since recently even though not still legal in some countries, you have more movie directors and movies having scenes about same sex love & marriage, homosexuality etc, just to introduce the concept to the new and indoctrinate people.

So if we start having all/some currencies in movies as bitcoin, or even more mentions of bitcoin in movies, this will definitely bring the goal of widespread acceptance closer to achieving as more persons will be introduced and indoctrinated to bitcoin and cryptocurrency more easily.

3810  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It takes years to build a reputation and seconds to break it on: July 22, 2021, 10:35:18 AM
First off, I truly believe that reputation is subjective because there are lots of factors to consider. However, to prevent exit scams, it is really important that the casino that you choose should be properly regulated and registered and not just because they offer all the games you enjoy.

Also, as you already know casinos will always entice a new user with sign up bonuses. Before you decide to sign up and claim your bonus, read meticulously the TOR (terms of reference) to ensure that you are okay with how you must use it. It is crucial that every casino have a multiple media ( Email, Telephone, Twitter, Instagram, WeChat etc) that enable users reach out their customer service and that they should be available 24/7.

Lastly, any casino that doesn’t have options to set deposit limit is definitely after profit more than reputation as they are not encouraging users to gamble responsibly.
3811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is more real than money in the Bank on: July 22, 2021, 10:30:38 AM
The entire idea behind crypto currency and bitcoin is really frustrating to the government and banks. Formerly everyone keeps their money in the bank, a general idea of the banking system is that these banks just circulate money around and make profits From People's money.

How do the banks do this?
It is no secret that some of these banks are the big players in Forex trading world. They take your money and use it in trading, if you need your money (Withdrawal), they give you some one or people's own that was just deposited. It all works out for them because it is very difficult for everyone to need all their money one time, so these banks keep making profit.

The entire bitcoin and cryptocurrency system has taken a big blow at the banks and government as the money you see that you have in your crypto wallet is more real than the one you kept in the bank, because you can see the exact figure and while your money is safe, you are still in complete control. So yes, bitcoin is more real than money in the bank.
3812  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Olympics 2020/2021 : Discussion & Predictions on: July 22, 2021, 10:01:37 AM
More than the event and competition, I'm more worried about the health implications for the individual athletes, for the hosting nation and for the athletes when they return to their home country. I'm worried that the cases of the virus would increase.

I'm more worried  that there would be new strains of the virus that might be more resistant to vaccine. Already, according to CNN, "The number of Covid-19 cases in Japan linked to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games has risen to 91, according to Tokyo 2020 organizers Furthermore,  Nine of the 91 cases reported were residents of the Olympic Village, five of whom are athletes and four are "Games-related personnel". I pray the world is doing the right thing at this time. If you're out there in Tokyo, please stay safe.

3813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will everyone still believe in Elon Musk? on: July 22, 2021, 09:53:29 AM
Truth is many who lost a lot of money during the musk season have still not recovered and completely forgiven Elon musk for affecting the market. Many of such individuals have lost believe and have stopped paying attention to what Elon Musk has to say and it is going to take a while for us to take him seriously again.

On the other hand, just as some lost some money, some others gained from what seemed like a pump and dump scheme, such individuals are still staunch supporters of Elon Musk and they still believe in Elon musk.

3814  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vegas Casinos to allow Cannabis Lounges. on: July 22, 2021, 05:18:17 AM
...both the casinos and the government will make more money this way.
I surely think that this might not be the way to go, alcoholic drinks are served in the casinos for a reason. I do think that this might be a "happy news" for most people but at the same time you should realize that this is something that will drastically reduce your chances of winning.

Plans from casinos to allow or incorporate cannabis lounges should not be met with a negative opinion, it is a way to make more money, but not in the manner that OP is trying to portray. Rather see it as a move to entice a new set of people to gambling casinos.

Take it or leave it, some people like to drink alcohol and will never smoke, while some others do not fancy alcohol but can smoke and so on...the whole idea is around increasing business by inviting a new set of money spenders into it. Alcohol and cannabis if not taken in moderation but in excess can affect your chances of winning, you are being partial if you put cannabis in that category alone.
3815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling attracted to emotion or luck on: July 21, 2021, 10:37:18 PM
It is good for one to be calculative, but when one becomes too calculative, it is a problem. From OP i believe that what you are trying to say is that whenever you are feel good about yourself and you go gamble even without trying to be too calculative or intentional about the result, you often experience a win that you have attached to emotions and luck.

For this reason, it is important that one tries not to be too serious, calculative or too intentional when placing a bet, because you are bound to make errors from over analysis. Rather approach placing your bet with a different vibe or mood, have fun while doing it and don't be too intentional, you might just make the right choice from not over thinking. At the end, you may call it luck or emotions, but i call it having fun while gambling.
3816  Economy / Economics / Re: Does studying Economics in School make one to be economical or what on: July 21, 2021, 02:50:24 PM
Well i can't say for every country, but in my country, if you apply for a course of study and after an exam, you are unable to make the required score to be in that department, you will offered admission in another department that can accommodate your score, so sometimes you find people in a department that they have no interest in but are just there because that was what they were offered and they had to just leave the house. So most times the department one finds himself has little or no effect to his or her lifestyle.

In simpler sense, what i am saying is that i may be a huge spendthrift and find myself studying economics, because it is not what i like, i find myself just keeping up just to get the degree and be done with. Because i have no interest in it, the study of economics will definitely not be evident in my lifestyle.

It is also necessary to put into consideration that everyone has a nature when it comes to money that has been propagated by environment, family background, financial status, responsibility and so on...Some are natural spendthrifts that cannot hold money or be economical about it, while some are economical by nature and has nothing to do with their course of study, they simply just like being in control of their financial life. We have others who are misers, that will never want to spend on anything even for themselves, also has nothing to do with their course of study.
3817  Economy / Economics / Re: Who is Happier: Stock investors or Bitcoin investors on: July 21, 2021, 02:02:51 PM
Happiness is a feeling, an emotional state sometimes may last for a while, while at other times is sometimes short-lived. In terms of the stock and bitcoin investors, i will say they have both experienced happiness from their investment, and if comparing both of them in terms of who is happier, an answer is not conclusive enough because at different times, a stock investor might be happier than a crypto investor, and at another time, the crypto investor might be the happier of the two.

I think what matters is finding which investment works for you and the one you are willing to stick to like the examples of people you have used, and being patient with it, there is happiness and joy for every choice one carefully makes.

For stock investment, do proper analysis before investing in the stock of any company, for cryptocurrency as well, proper analysis and patience is required.

If there's an electro magnetic wave that takes the whole world back in time to beginning of Bitcoin invention and other cryptocurrencies. Armed with the knowledge you have now as one who is back from the future, how much Bitcoin would you buy for a start, and what other cryptocurrencies would you invest in?

Which mistakes did you formerly make with bitcoin and cryptocurrency that you will not want repeating itself?
3819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You got a pifzer ? Then you can be eligible for lottery in Poland. on: July 19, 2021, 03:30:42 PM
This is a typical example of positive reinforcement. The addition of a desirable or pleasant stimulus after a behavior. The desirable stimulus reinforces the behavior, making it more likely that the behavior will reoccur. You get vaccinated, there's a high chance of getting rewarded, in this case monetary and material reward. Who wouldn't love that. So, If the next fellow sees that his friend is getting a  PLN200, PLN500 or a motor vehicle for getting vaccinated, he goes to get the vaccine as well. Smart right?

The question I have to ask is why Pfizer 🤔
3820  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices doubled this year on: July 19, 2021, 12:01:37 PM
In the country where I reside currently, the prices of food items have skyrocketed. Worse still is that the country is experiencing food scarcity. In this nation, I'd agree that COVID has a role to play however a small one. The government of this nation is as corrupt as the devil. Peasant farmers can't go to their farms because of the high level of insecurity. Even when they successfully harvest their crops, transporting them to other regions is almost as difficult as a camel passing through the eye a needle. This is because the goods might be highjacked.

These factors and many more have made the economic law of supply and demand to become potent. Right now, the citizens of this nation don't care anymore, all they want to do is just survive.
