waiting on new gear from here. once a new item is available. i will buy it and do  a long review with it and since I purchased it on my own I don't have to hear or read if I favor or disfavor the company or the gear

38082  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Gigampz: Power Supply Kits & Adapters For Bitcoin Mining. Industrial grade. on: April 18, 2015, 08:01:16 PM
I finally set up 2 circuits in my home to do 240 volts.  These are a little better at 240 volts.  maybe I am getting 94 percent instead of 93 percent at 120.

I am happy with the one I have.
38083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you pay for the keys to the genesis block/address on: April 18, 2015, 07:57:51 PM
Why would you pay that much for just a collectors item? Its not spendable.
Why wouldn't us?
We'll sell it to another collector more expensive Grin

This is why I would pay a premium for it.

what happened to the 12ph that where on tron?
what happened to antpool, is it back to full speed?

so y the -4%? Roll Eyes

inefficient farms for btc but ok for pumped shit coins?.....

Also most mining is Northern Hemisphere and the heat is coming.

For me summer rates jump from 13 to 16.9 cents. Add in heat factor my winter rates are 10 cents and my summer rates are 18 cents.

For others worse then above.  Now I sold off 12 sp20s and 2 s-5's  .  I kept the 2 avalon 4.1's .  I clocked them down to 1600 gh vs 2200gh as I don't need the heat they make.

I suspect a lot of miners are starting to down clock.  So a home miner may have a 20% drop off.  Since we are not the big amount of network hash rate our 20% drop turns into 3 or 4 or 5 %

Yep. I had to down clock my S5s to the default 350.

so you may have dropped from 1300gh to 1150 gh say 10 or 11%   x tenthousand others just like you and that is 15ph .  Yes the southern hemisphere adds some as it is cooling say 3 -5ph a net drop of 10 or 12 ph

and you are right at our current -4%.  we are now at -3.70%

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

we have 127 blocks to go

So there it is the beginning of Bitcoin  .  The original 50 coins are still there plus some nice people that wanted to donate to it.

btc value is 65.44243457 btc

But there it is.  I would buy it from Satoshi  for 100 btc.

I sure he wants more. I am also sure many people would give him quite a bit more then 500 btc for it to belong to them.

So simple question what would you pay for it?

I am looking to expand my farm....

From a daily expense factor and/or mining result which is better?

Two s3's
Or
One c1

And why did you choose that answer!

If you have very cheap power the s3's are pretty good.

2 of them can do 1000gh and 800 watts
38087  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: April 18, 2015, 03:51:47 PM
Profit margins and excessive management wages also put upward pressure on costs. In the last 50 years, adjusting for inflation, the average worker wage in the US has not changed at all while average CEO wage has increased by an order of magnitude. When there's a job that can be done by anyone with basic dexterity, there's no reason to ship your materials twelve time zones away when the guy down the street from you is looking for work. My political leanings have always bent toward isolationist, and the 5:1 trade defecit with China doesn't help convince me I'm wrong. Then again, I also don't like unions - bashing people over the head to get what you want is only required when what you want is undeserved, or when your boss is a jackass, and then there's all the artificial limitations you impose on yourself when you sign away your individual rights to an organization.

So yeah, imaginary lines on a map are generally meaningless. But when I KNOW a guy that doesn't have a job and is about to get kicked out of his house, how @!#$ing dare I hire someone 8000 miles away to do work he could be doing just as well, without communication hassle of time zones, or added transport costs, or supervision costs to maintain basic quality control? How @!#$ing dare I export the economy of the imaginary construct of my country, my state, my county, my town to some hole on the other side of the world just because I want to save a nickel per unit and pocket most of that nickel for myself? Hell no. I'll pay my neighbor to do good work before I'll pay anyone else. If the cost is too high, either I'm paying him more than the job should be worth or, God forbid, I'm paying myself too high a fraction of the revenue I'm not laboring to create. Domestic labor only causes undue pressure on cost when too many of the people involved are greedy.

Such a difficult subject protectionism vs free trade.  I won't touch it. But isolationism  that subject Always sparked  my interest. Teddy Roosevelt  wrote on it and his idea was Panama to Canada and all counties in between USA, Mexico , Costa Rica should be a single nation.  Well that never did happen but if it had it would have been close to a perfectly sized and shaped nation to practice isolationism.

As for unions they suck, but not as much as an asshole boss that believes "nothing counts but more"
Pop question the quote "nothing counts but more" is from a sixties pop-rock group .   which one and which song?

So far off topic but the op and I have some similar thoughts.
38088  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hash Rate Cut by 25% - Why? on: April 18, 2015, 02:57:47 PM
Thanks for everyone's help. I did a reboot from the GUI and that did the trick.
Also, I tried to add a network extender to my wireless signal and that thing played havoc with my internet connection.
I unplugged the extender, rebooted everything, and then even added my new (used) S4!
I have been hashing at over 3TH/s all night.

The network extender, and the internet intermittance it was causing, was most likely the cause of all my angst.

Happy hashing gentlemen!

This S4 is like some women I have been with ---- HOT and LOUD. LOL

Wifi mining and you did not mention it in the first post.    bad boy bro. Wink

Wifi can be totally great then suck for 2 days then be great for a month.

Anytime use are using wifi for a 24/7/365 connection like mining always mention it.

Keep some cat 5 cables to test it hard wired.

Spring weather thunderstorms etc can interfere with wifi.  A new cell phone tower near you home can also do it.
38089  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Power supply question 240volt 3phase power vs 1 phase on: April 18, 2015, 02:47:36 PM
Forgot to add there are two main forms of 3 phase called 'delta' or 'wye'.

Here is a place where they get geeky about the sematics: https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/delta-vs-wye-pros-and-cons.682676/

TL;dr: wye will have 4 wires instead of 3, the fourth being a neutral, so if you tie any hot to a neutral you get 120v, and there is no 'wild leg' (all hots carry 208v).

All the wye stuff I have seen is 120/208/277/480v, take a look at this chart to see whats out there: http://www.ccontrolsys.com/w/Electrical_Service_Types_and_Voltages

Thanks for the info.  I will read up on it so that when I drive back to my friends shop I will have an idea of what I am doing.

38093  Economy / Services / Re: Buy ANYTHING from AMAZON with BITCOIN at a 25% DISCOUNT - Free USA Shipping on: April 18, 2015, 01:48:50 PM
I am interested in purchasing some things from amazon. I was wondering if you would agree to these terms tho

1. I send coins to on site escrow (devthedev/Monbux/Tomatocage/OgNasty/Quickseller)
2. You purchase items that I want
3. I am in USA, so 2-3 days later, I receive package, and escrow releases funds.

Many of amazon4u's users use escrow and it is actually encouraged to protect both parties.

The post just before your's is actually an escrow deal being made.

Well I want to receive my item before escrow releases funds so I clarified.

Standard procedure. Buysolar sent me x-btc  For his deal with amazon4u.  I hold it until he tells me the goods arrive> I then release the x BTC to amazon4u's BTC addy below:

BTC Payments will me made here : 1CuSL6sTWYNqDfSq1nYUAT8pLBHEnLpFB5

@amazon4u I sent a pm and I have the funds in escrow from buysolar.

As I note I posted I was doing this escrow yesterday and I was ask to do another escrow.  It was not for goods.

I only do escrow for goods.

I find that type of sale has less problems.

www.coinbase.com is at 224 usd

with 221 blocks left negative is certain we would need to do all 221 blocks in under 24 hours time. that won't happen.

Pretty amazing another negative.  Looking  back a year ago I would have never guessed so many negatives in the future.

I was guessing positive, man was I wrong.
not so sure what to think.  I saw this starting when the s-3 came out and the s-1 was downclocking to 1.2 watts

thus the new gen was 1.2 to .8 watts  I predicted the big slowdown would be worse with the s-5 only doing .52 watts.

What I missed was price dropping from 350-400 late last year to the current 220 now.
My guess is if price were to jump to 1000 usd or better yet 2000 usd we would see insane growth I am not to sure what is best for the coin. Have to wait it out.

38096  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Power supply question 240volt 3phase power vs 1 phase on: April 18, 2015, 04:31:20 AM
Isn't it pretty loud over there on the dark side?   Wink

I haven't seen a server power supply that even pretends to be quiet. The ATX EVGA supplies seem pretty quiet to me. That's only based on a sample size of one. My bet is that by now, all the server PSU designers are hearing impaired from the noise.

Yes, they are loud. Not for the faint of heart. Sloopy claims he sleeps with them, but I'm not convinced he actually sleeps. LOL!  Yes, J4bber has already been successful with a fan design that keeps noise lower than an S3 running.  I just received a couple PWM fans this weekend that I'm going to rig up and see both how much lower I can get the noise while still supporting full 2880W. I'll let J4bber comment further on his design, but I am excited for allowing more people to take advantage of them for still quite reasonably.  If only they could work on 120V, we'd be in great shape.

Sloopy, it's all good.  Again, I've always known 240V is superior for PSU's in almost every way, but I always thought the DC output voltage was stable regardless of input.  If it does have a positive effect on the hardware, that's an even bigger reason for people to make the switch.

Phillip, keep us updated.
I can not duplicate results using dicus fish pool  that I got using ck's solo pool.

so I suspect I have a pool skew no not a pool cue.  I will test more.

As for servers the intel 1000/1200 server is quiet up to 650 watts when my amp meter read 2.7 for 240 volts = 648 watts it was quiet .

Of course go past 750 watts it is loud and go to 1000 watts it screams and at 1200 watts it wails.

All the spots I can mine need quiet or medium loud miners.

okay I think I can do this.  I have an ice fury it can set freq o from 1 to 60

50 gets me 1.8gh

that is too high but if I set it to 10 my hash rate will drop very close to .200 gh - .450 gh which is  good

So would this qualify?  assuming I get hash rate to .3gh or so?

If not I think I will join anyway and you can donate the prize to some one else.
38099  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest Diff thread April 5 to April 18th on: April 18, 2015, 01:22:55 AM
I don't think the price going below $200 will affect the difficulty much. It might affect it by around -5% or so. We were below $200 for a couple days and the difficulty wasn't decreasing anyways.

For miners its worse because about a month ago, price was almost $300 and difficulty is pretty much exactly where it is right now but we were making 25% more.

Its not a linear curve.

Price might go down 50% and difficulty might only go down 20%.

I think the reason being is that many miners right now have free electricity and for them it doesn't matter what the price is because they are always pulling in a profit.

Yeah and while I have  a 2.4 cent setup it is only 2 s-3's . In a friends office.

I will soon move 2 or 3 avalon 4.1's to another friends place he has 0.07 usd power and while 7 cents is not as good as 2.4 cents it is decent.

the whole game will turn into spot mining only in under 8 cent power places.

My big thing is getting a summer mining area.   Cooling by fan's and extraction of heat is a lot cheaper then AC.   A cant pay AC bill to cool all of my gear, so currently next few weeks will be making my new summer mining area.
last summer I switched to gridseed blades 17 of them.  mistake first off my pc like running 12 or 13 of them not 17.  then the ltc market crashed.

only good thing was power was down to about 1500 watts.  this summer i want to stay under 1000 watts.

I got rid of inefficient gear.  The A1 1T, and S3's (hated to get rid of them loved them).    I will be starting summer with around 10k watts.  I thought I would be much lower... but I ended up going from 12k to 10k.   So now I have to perfect the fan's and exhust.   Hopefully get some of the parts this weekend and start out on it.  I'm lucky to have a lot of room for miners.

I'm really looking foward to the summer design I have.  Will be nice to have them all in same room.

I have some very good fans that I won't be needing.

One of my 4 SP20e recently behaves curiously.

They miner were shut down for about 4 days. I just plugged out the ethernet cables. Since yesterday I put them on again. 3 Started without any issues.
One of them keeps rebooting. It seems that it finishes booting, but it somehow cant connect to the network. I already changed the ethernet cable but it wont help.
When booted, the green LED is blinking fast. It starts with the same noise fan as I saved it too, but it doesnt mine. It also wont show up in myminer.io.

I dont know what to do?

Also I dont have a SD card here right now..

what were the settings?
Were they like .63 volts or lower?

It was a DHCP issue with my network I guess. I got the wifi signal repeated by another Asus Router, which is connected via ethernet to the miners.
I didnt go lower than .645 in the settings. And that only for the one connected to a cx850 psu. The others were about .67

Yeah if you clock real low they can struggle to start.  If you had them at 0.61, 0.62 or even 0.625 they may not start

in your case it seems like you had wifi interference .

wifi in the spring can be very nutty.  as both spring and fall can do wacky shit to radio signals
