Hash Rate Cut by 25% - Why?

I am mining on an Antminer C1, and have been for a few weeks. My has rate has always been right at the capacity of the machine --> 1 TH/s. The past 24 hours my hash rate has been down to 750 GH/s. I rebooted the miner, reset my router and reset my modem. Still running 750 GH/s. The miner status shows all o's.

Could this be a virus? If not, then what do you think?

did you installed anything new on your desktop(i presume you are using a pc to work with this miner)? if everything was let unchanged, and this miner is a second hand miner, then i can only think of "miner degradation", they are made in china after all, they can't mine forever

Yes, it is a second hand miner, and nothing new on my desktop. This news is not so good .... oh well. Thanks for the reply.
Now the miner is showing 0 hash when I look at it on my pool. If I look at my network I can see the miner on the network as active.
I'll have to tinker with it tonight I guess.

Perhaps you could ssh into the miner and check cgminer logs and post them here in code tags.

You might also trying point it at a different pool or two - such as p2pool (it may report a slightly lower rate, but generate the same0 - and see if you are getting the same hash rates at the other pools. 

This way you can see if it is a pool issue or something else.

Most likely you will have to turn power off/on to get it to full speed. I have one unit that goes from 1T to 800's if it runs for a while.  Seems to be in the nature of some of the C1's.

I believe some S1's had the same problem. However, OP, you could put a cronjob on the C1 to restart every 6 hours or so, that should bump your hashrate up to normal again every 6 hours if the miner runs into issues.

That is the most basic solution to fixing any electronic appliance. If something isn't working correctly, just switch it off and back on again.

Yes I have tried old/new firmware.  Once C1 is effected by it and the other is not.  Does not matter firmware so far.

Sadly I think it will take that on some of them. Each one seems to have it's own personality for better or worse.

The S4's are beasts they definitely are good miners.  But they do make quite a bit of noise with those fans.

I love them I just would not keep one in a room used for other things.  You really need to put it somewhere dedicated to mining.

You could just keep it in your basement, or in the garage. That way it won't melt everything near it, and it won't bother you.

Not quite this easy if your using the original syscooling pump.  They have been known to give out and leak.  So also want to keep it where if it leaks coolant it wont ruin anything.

I personally switched pumps after my 2 quit.

Wifi mining and you did not mention it in the first post.    bad boy bro.

Wifi can be totally great then suck for 2 days then be great for a month.

Anytime use are using wifi for a 24/7/365 connection like mining always mention it.

Keep some cat 5 cables to test it hard wired. 

Spring weather thunderstorms etc can interfere with wifi.  A new cell phone tower near you home can also do it.

I just tried to extend that same wireless signal to the rest of my house ... the extender did not play well with my network.

I tried the wireless crap for a couple days and it aggravated me worse than anything. Outages and inconsistency were awful, so I moved my modem & router into the same room as my miners.

One thing that surprisingly worked for me is the adapters that let you send the network signal through electrical wires.  I did not try to mine through it.  But it allowed me to connect a Tivo in another room and worked well with the network.

I was surprised I thought it was more of a gimmick before I tried one.
