The current character limit is 80 characters for a topic title and 84 characters for a topic reply title. In the topic reply title the additional four characters are used for "Re: " but if you want you can use this addition four character space with whatever you want. I have tested it on this topic: https://ninjastic.space/topic/5299629 (sorry mod for this extra job, I was too curious LOL) However, in the default SMF the limit is 255 characters. Read this please: https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=436723.0Update: It seems your issue is not in character count. I checked the number of characters which is 80 for the following title: 【簡単に稼げる】Google Play日本版でふしぎの国のアリス(日本語吹替版のみ!)を購入して私に送ってください。ビットコインで4千円の手数料をお支払いします But the remaining characters after the cut off is 45 characters: 【簡単に稼げる】Google Play日本版でふしぎの国のアリス(日本語吹替版のみ!)を& I think when the characters are counting by the system for the local language then it's messing up with it's unicode.

I would understand it if you posted a reserve as an update, but this isn't an update. It is right after you submit your post. What's the purpose of doing it immediately?
I think in simple understanding, it for whatever will come in the future and maybe I would like them to be highlighted in the reserved spot so that for the readers it is easy to find the updates. The purpose of doing it immediately is because you do not want this post buried after several posts from others.
|
|
|
It depends on of the user how they will use it. When I do, I do it to have an update about the topic, maybe to have a summary of the topic, maybe to have a list of the collective responses. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5295408.0 : I have to reserve spots. One to update my own lists and another to update with user given lists. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5287061.0: To add anything new that would come from the discussion These are some common practice for me when I have a reserved spot.

I really do not like topic like this. What OP has done is: Telling good things about older members which are not always true and all these sounds cheesy as well. This is a zero value post. That is the older members like hero and legendary and others( except the newbies who spam the forum). They always comment on a post if they have knowledge about it and suggest in a right way to the topic creator. They do not go out from the topic and only share that information which they experienced before or learn from anywhere. And they make the topic too much easy to understand. I trust myself and I believe none of these are honest opinion. In 15+ days you even do not have any idea which account has what characteristics. Have you not seen high rank members to spam, have you not seen high ranked members to take on a newbie, have you not seen a high rank member to insult a low rank, have you not seen high rank members to hate each others, have you not seem personal conflicts between two members? Don't come to such cheesy conclusion just to earn some merits. I have a feeling that you have an older account without having to earn much merit and now you started this account and trying something different. Creating or having alt account is fine in this forum but if you take this path of being cheesy then you will not go much further. Maybe one or two members will merit you but in the long run you will not have good time.

so in other words genuine users should not be discouraged to ask questions regarding their wallets, bitcoin, etc, if they feel the need to.
Obviously this is not going to change my merit sending criteria. This just adds an extra layer for me to check on the web if the poster had plagiarized or not. I just need to check with a tool before I send the merit. Sucks though :-D However, you can likely judge a thread by its quality, and check whether there's a similar thread to it.
Quality is relevant I think. To me something maybe very useful but the same topic for you maybe a rubbish and vice versa. When a user copy and paste a technical question and when as a reader you are not aware that this is a same technical question which was asked a few years back in another forum/media then it's a surprise for you once it has been discovered. For example check this: Hello guys,
Hopefully one of you can help me out trying to fix this error. I can see my balance and everything works until I try to send btc to someone. There's 4 steps before sending (Recipient, Amount, Summary, device -- I get stuck on device and the error shows -- ledger device: INS_NOT_SUPPORTED (0x6d00)
I tried multiple step unsuccessfully.
1)Reinstalled ledger live with the current version 2.8.0
2) Tried a new usb cord
3) Tried on a new computer (windows and also MAC)
Is there anyone that has the same problem or anyone knows how to fix it?
Thanks! Posted by a user: https://ninjastic.space/topic/5296751Later we discovered that this was copied from Reddit LOL https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/hpgree/sending_bitcoin_error_with_ledger_0x6d00/

The passphrase is either 1) the password used to decrypt the wallet file or 2) the password used to decrypt the seed which is commonly referred to as "extended seed". In 1) it is simply a password. In 2) it is a salt used in the key derivation function ( BIP 39) The seed on the other hand is a large random number used to derive everything. This is a common (and wrong) synonym for the mnemonic code. The mnemonic code is the sequence of words (most commonly 12 or 24). Thanks bud. So in OP's case I assume he has the seed which is a good news but I assume his seed is the word phrase which is without the small combination of 3 letters. When I was creating the seed I made it an extended one and I put a small combination of 3 numbers at the end of it If he means passphrase for encrypted password then there are no need of it but if that is his extended seed (includes the small combination of 3 letters) then he is looking at the regular seed (without the three letter at the end) and extended seed to recover the wallet. @backforth55, if you are reading then let us know you are reading okay.

Interesting. This seems very cleaver way to phish the cryptocurrency users. After reading dkbit98's post I went going to check possibly every URL they have. First I considered their motive to have such website and where exactly they can fish. It's the download page! Let the users to download a fake ledger live and once they connect the device, take the information and process it. Cleave. Original ledge live download page: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F90bGY1C.png&t=663&c=spE9qIzYBTxoLA) Download link: https://www.ledger.com/ledger-live/downloadFake ledger live download page: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FjxlAPU7.png&t=663&c=hKKb87qeY-jsow) Download link: http://ledgerlive.io/download.php I would not trust this the file that will be downloaded from this link. It surely is fishy or why other links has original ledger.com URL but only the download link has a different url that is not from ledge.

Actually in a normal sense bitcoin can only shutdown by Satoshi Nakamoto which is the founder of bitcoin since 2009
How LOL? the reason while bitcoin is decentralized currency I doubt that you understand decentralization or how satoshi can shut it down :-D Note: Satoshi, government or anyone else can not shut down bitcoin. It's in no single person or organization's hand. It's us, all of us who keep Bitcoin alive.

There is fake Ledger site which is very old but is still making victims. The URL is: http://ledgerlive.io/ Be very careful when accessing the site. The site seems to be hosted in Quebec, Canada. I would not call it fake or phishing. Someone has the domain, and they just forwarded the domain to the original site. This could be an affiliate if I am not too wrong. The Simple answer is no. The government or anyone else can not shutdown Bitcoin. They can make the use of bitcoin harder. Bitcoin lives by nodes. Until the last node is off or destroyed completely, Bitcoin is alive. Imagine, you and I have two nodes (one each) and all other nodes were destroyed by a catastrophic incident. Bitcoin is not still dead because you and me still can exchange our coins. There are 10858 NODES alive currently. This means to shut-off Bitcoin, anyone will need to shut down these 10858 nodes. Even if they were able to shut down all these nodes, who will guarantee that there are no saved copy to individuals? So, get 99.999% sure that it's not possible to shut down Bitcoin.

I believe that deleting the entire topic completely is a normal and correct decision. Sometimes we reply to such topics and subsequently wonder where our messages went.
It happens to me all the time, and I am used to it :-P Perhaps sometimes it will be useful to check at least a little the history of posts of the author of the topic to compare his style with the created topic. Sometimes the style of writing a topic is very different from that of the author himself. You can check the topic for plagiarism. Most of the time in the Development & Technical Discussion when people come with an issue that they are experiencing you really do not feel to check their posting history. Sometimes most of them just made their first post. In the other boards it could be different especially in this B&H. I have had a bad experience, not very long ago. I and some other users in the forum usually like to send merit to a topic which is discussing about technical issue of a wallet or bitcoin. Like someone explained their problem and seeking for information. Somehow some users spotted this culture. The Other day one of the user copied an issue from Reddit and posted the same from Reddit. We sent merit to that posts and later one user discovered that was copy past from few years ago in Reddit LOL This is how we get trapped and waste our time because of some less moraled newbies (better say alt account)

I did not see this post while I was editing my last post :-D Anyway, I think the problem here is either: OP has entered wrong seed or His seed are not Electrum seed. I am not much clear about this too: So I have lost the passphrase to my wallet, but I have the seed. What is he meaning by passphrase and seed. Passphrase and seed are same thing in my knowledge or it's me when I call any of them I actually mean the 12/24 word seeds. It could be extended seed or regular seed. Edit: Help me to understand that I am close to imagine what you have done when you created the wallet. When I was creating the seed I made it an extended one and I put a small combination of 3 numbers at the end of it. When you created the wallet you added this small combination of 3 numbers at the end and you had it in the extended seed box? Do you have the seed plus the seed with the small combination of 3 numbers? I hope you have. Without the small combination of the 3 numbers is your regular seed. With the small combination of the 3 numbers are your extended seed. Can you try it now? I remember when I used Electrum first time, I had the same mistake but somehow I was able to figure it out when I was restoring my wallet.
|
|
|
Which wallet software you have used? Assuming Electrum. Start with the desktop version. It will be easier for you to operate. on PC when I do, it doesn't let me continue as the "Next" option is greyed out. Are you talking about this step? ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F3DvrAcj.png&t=663&c=0ISxsrzgVAy3Tg) In this case this is not an electrum seed or you have a wrong seed unfortunately.
|
|
|
Every wallet has their seed and using the same seed if you open the wallet with any software, you will get the same wallet. Does that mean the the old 12word phrases are not anymore valid for this new wallet and can only be used for restoring the funds? Old 12 word phase are the word phrase for your old wallet, there are nothing invalid. Old 12 seed always restore the wallet associated with it. PS:This was my in general response since I have no idea about BRD wallet. If you have the 12 word seed then you can restore the same wallet with Electrum or any other wallet software.

- blablaPUBLIC.asc
- blablaSECRET.asc
- My fingerprint
What are the things I can share? And what is which one used for? You only share public key and fingerprint, never share secret key aka private key. Without public-key/fingerprint (uploaded in a server) no one can verify a message or file if you want them to have the original message or file that you have for them. For any recognize open-source software the dev team always provides the signature. Verifying the file against this signature means that you have the authentic piece of software. This helps you to avoid fake, phishing copies. Let me give you an example: Electrum wallet. You can have copies of Electrum client anywhere on the web including their official website ( https://electrum.org/#download). How would you know that the copies that were downloaded from other websites are authentic, even the copies in their official site (the server may get hacked)? You only way to verify if the copy is genuine is the signature they provide. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FnFSCM1K.png&t=663&c=mQgqq3pfa1SMlQ) And these signatures are signed by ThomasV and his PGP public key is: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/spesmilo/electrum/master/pubkeys/ThomasV.asc-----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----
