3821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency sleuths point to Robinhood as Dogecoin whale on: February 20, 2021, 01:24:29 PM
Quote
The owner of the wallet, which controls nearly 29% of Dogecoin in circulation
Holeeeey shit that's a lot of doge for any one wallet to have in it, or for any one entity to even think about owning.  No wonder doge has been pumped up like a hot air balloon as of late.  But even if you're an exchange listing doge, there's no reason to have that much on hand (at least none that I can think of).

And if Robinhood is somehow speculating and/or manipulating doge on its own, they better pray for success on that one.  Doge has had its good moments over the years, but it always seems to return to about 20 sats/doge.  It's not a great long-term investment coin, and that's because there's way too much supply and nowhere near enough demand for it.  I'm thinking that someone is going to be left holding a big bag of deflated doge when this all settles down, whether it's Robinhood or someone else.  Yikes.
3822  Economy / Exchanges / Re: excuse me what the fuck? on: February 19, 2021, 09:50:11 PM
Jesus, that sounds like something Yobit would do.  0.0009BTC might have been reasonable a few months ago, but right now it's quite a bit of change as you pointed out.

Not sure about CVC, though, and why that withdrawal fee is so high.  One thing I'm pretty sure of is that HitBTC has been shown to be a scam exchange.  I just posted once or twice about them not so long ago as being one of the scam exchanges that Curecoin is listed on.  You might not have used them in a while and might not be aware of how bad their reputation has gotten--and I seriously doubt they're going to lower that CVC withdrawal fee, which is outright ridiculous.
3823  Other / Meta / Re: DT2 and DT1 on: February 19, 2021, 08:20:31 PM
Weird how this thread made it to rank 1 on Google search despite me having no history with the OP or this post. This is a nice thread that served as a reminder to myself as I keep forgetting how any of this trust mumbo jumbo works. Thanks. +merited.
It made it to #1 on Google?  What do you mean by that?  What were you searching for?  By the way, I haven't seen you around in a very long time, probably a couple of years at least when we had that beef over some feedback I left you.

I used to think that DT meant delerium tremens, and since the new complex and random trust system has been implemented, I suspect this may still be true. Smiley
Ditto to you, Jet Cash!  I was wondering where you'd gone off to.  And yeah, lately the DT system has been a little bit delirious--more so than usual I mean.  Nothing's been the same since Theymos implemented the rotating system.  A lot of the older, more established members have managed to stay on DT more or less, but there have been tons of new faces (at least on DT2) and I'm not sure many of them deserve to be on any level of DT.
3824  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another ATH ( all time high) | Another Milestone | Updated for $55k on: February 19, 2021, 07:51:05 PM
Another all time high and another milestone. $55k  Cool Wink

Jesus...I wouldn't have predicted that price even 5 hours ago or so when I woke up.  Lol.

This is getting to feel like 2017 all over again to me, but I'm really hoping it doesn't turn out the same way, i.e., with a protracted bear market following a major crash.  Think about all of those companies that recently bought bitcoin as their cash reserve or as an investment.  Hopefully they've got some hedging going on to protect themselves in case the market does crash.

And be careful, it can continue to grow more in price, right now all the excitement will make many buy more bitcoin so that they do not lose the movement, the alts may fall in price right now, because they will sell to buy bitcoin. And the volume of Bitcoin is clearly buyer.
The alt market (as far as I can tell) is doing just fine and seems to be riding on the back of bitcoin's coattails.  Seeing what bitcoin's doing, I'd think now would be a great time to be buying altcoins--at least some of the good ones.
3825  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: huge electrum fees on: February 19, 2021, 04:36:12 PM
Now I intend to switch to Coinbase to avoid problems with HD hardware and the like
Eh, are you sure you want to do that?  Having control of your private keys is probably a lot better than having a company like Coinbase control them for you.  You could create a paper wallet easily enough using Electrum.

In any case, you're not doing anything wrong nor are you hallucinating--fees for sending bitcoin right now are through the roof, and there's no way you're going to be able to send just a few hundred satoshi at a time like this.  It's not even worth it to send 0.001BTC right now unless you want to pay a very small fee and wait a long-ass time for confirmation.

Can you share your TXID here so that we can analyze your TXID and find what is the cause of paying a huge fee?
That might help you, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to help OP.  As far as I can tell, fees are really high across the board at the moment.  OP might want to wait until the network is a little less congested before trying to send whatever amount of bitcoin he's looking to send (and it sounds like a small amount).
3826  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: I Damaged my Ledger on: February 19, 2021, 04:26:44 PM
My tip for you is to buy from Ledger itself, cut the middleman. This would allow you to have an increased amount of trust, since Ledger itself even says that they recommend not buying from third party sellers.
Definitely agree with you on that piece of advice.  I think the Ledgers that are available on Amazon are actually sold through Ledger themselves (and please correct me if I'm wrong), and that's how I bought mine.  I'd never buy one either used or through a 3rd party seller, because you never know if the device has been fooled with--at least I'd be constantly paranoid that someone had the private keys or something.

The best way to buy a Ledger is right through the Ledger site itself.  You can even pay with bitcoin if you want to, so I don't see any reason why anyone wouldn't just do that.  And yeah, OP, I think you're going to have to just buy a new device and either use your old seed or create a new one.  The good thing is that they're pretty inexpensive (or at least the Nano S is; the Nano X is a bit pricey if you ask me).
3827  Other / Meta / Re: I am genuinely interested, need some advices. on: February 19, 2021, 01:24:58 PM
Until you are an experienced miner, I don't think you should post there.
I know that's true, but damn....isn't that a little bit harsh?  The mining section shouldn't be for experienced miners only IMO.

Anyway, hopefully if OP looks for help in the B&H section he'll get it.  I'm not sure what kind of advice is given in that section, but I've always thought it was a spammy-type section--and it seems to me that if he's got a question about mining, he ought to post it in the mining section, whether it's in an existing thread or one that he creates specifically for advice.  You could create your own thread, OP.  I would think it'd have a lower chance of being deleted, even if the mods are wicked strict.
3828  Economy / Reputation / Re: Foxpup's sexual reputation thread [NSFW] on: February 17, 2021, 08:20:53 PM
But hey, as long as it's between two consenting adults, who am I to judge?
Only two?
Well yeah, I guess you're right.  From where I sit, I'd be lucky to find even one so my mind wasn't even considering the range of possibilities.  *sigh*

I miss TMAN, he could teach the princess some new words.
Me too.  I'm assuming he didn't get banned, else I would have heard about it, but if I'm not mistaken Theymos was not a huge fan of him whilst TMAN was most recently active.  Wonder where he went off to?  I'd certainly love to read his doubtless colorful input in this thread, and he definitely gave a little bit of flavor to any thread he posted in.  Let's hope he's not locked up in Foxpup's sex dungeon.  And Foxxxxy, if he is in there could you at least let him use the internet for a couple of hours per week?  Lol.
3829  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Ledger Shop leaking info AGAIN?! on: February 17, 2021, 07:20:32 PM
This is so frightening from ANY security standpoint.  There are people that live in regions of the world where "knowledge" that they even own crypto is life threatening.
That's a good point, although I would ask whether it's truly illegal to own a Ledger device anywhere in the world.  Obviously it might lead to some questions on the part of a government agency looking to prosecute someone for crypto possession (if that's even happening), but buying a Ledger does not equate to owning cryptocurrency.  That would have to be proven separately I would think.

Anyway, this looks to me to be a one-time fuckup and whether it's on the part of Shopify or Ledger it doesn't seem to point to a pattern of security lapses.  It's unfortunate, to be sure, but I'm not ready to crucify Ledger based on what happened here.

OP, you obviously can't stand Ledger and I respect that.  They're a beloved company in the small world of hardware wallet enthusiasts, but that doesn't mean they should go without criticism.  And I'd say they need to figure out what happened here and fix their shit before it happens again, because what did happen isn't cool at all.
3830  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin just smashed $50k on: February 17, 2021, 04:11:09 PM
I wouldn't still call it a hard-smash since it barely to almost touched that price
That might have been true when you wrote your post, but as of right now, bitcoin is at $51k.  Unbelievable!

It's nice that bitcoin is blowing up and all, but I suspect that there's going to be a correction coming soon--unless there continues to be more institutional buying, in which case all bets are off.  I'm fairly certain that the reason bitcoin is where it is is because of companies like MSTR and the rest that are buying huge amounts of it.  Eventually that enormous demand will taper off and traders will take profits, too, but I'm just hoping we don't see a major crash.

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed.
3831  Economy / Reputation / Re: Foxpup's sexual reputation thread [NSFW] on: February 17, 2021, 01:15:25 PM
the pornography I've produced is, in fact, free, and not some sort of bizarre sex scam.
I had no idea you'd produced any pornography--where have I been?  Must be my lack of sex drive or something.  But hey, as long as it's between two consenting adults, who am I to judge?

At the risk of causing additional disappointment, my arse is not in fact available for rent, not even in exchange for merits, despite what you may have heard about what really goes on in the Merit Cycling Club, where any rumoured foxhole shenanigans are just a free bonus. Wink
I'd like to confirm that I've never been touched inappropriately as a result of my participation in Foxpup's cycling club, nor have any animals been harmed.  It might look mysterious to the outsider, but there's really no shenanigans happening as far as the club is concerned--not even merit abuse, much less anything more sinister.  Check my merit-giving record and you'll see that I'm not swapping merits with anyone else on the team (I've got avatars blocked, so I don't even know who I'm cycling with tbh), nor has Foxpup given me tons of merits like he used to do since I joined.  He's a stand-up [insert gender word here] as far as I'm concerned.

I still don't see where all this drama is coming from.  It started with a death threat?
3832  Economy / Exchanges / Re: LiveCoin.net >Buy/Sell/Exchange>New pairs:BVK/BTC,APOD/BTC,KTETH/BTC on: February 16, 2021, 07:40:15 PM
Very curious to see if someone will show up with payment received, and how much that will be trustworthy...
Probably not, and if one person says they got some money back from Livecoin then I'd assume other people would have as well--I just don't think that's going to be the case, unfortunately.  I'm pretty sure at this point Livecoin can be written off as perpetrating an exit scam.  If they were actually trying to negotiate with hackers or cared about their customers, they'd be communicating with the public, but they're not (unless someone knows better).

I wonder if they send an e-mail to all the clients to notify them of the reclaiming procedure...
Don't hold your breath waiting for that e-mail, bro.  It fuckin' sucks for those who had funds on their exchange when this supposed "hack" happened, but that's a lesson some people have to learn the hard way--not to hold funds on any crypto exchange for extended periods of time.
3833  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Got scammed by bullrun2020bro in german bitcointalk board on: February 16, 2021, 05:09:35 PM
False accusations are against the rules and have consequences!
I know you're staff and all, but are you sure about the first part of that statement?  Lol.  And if it is true, does that particular rule ever get enforced?  Methinks not.

The OP has been banned so I'm guessing we will not be seeing the evidence unless he pops up under a new name.
Wow, that was quick.  What the hell did he get banned for?  Regardless, this looks like the second scam accusation I've read today with zero supporting evidence.  I think I smell a troll lurking somewhere around this area.
3834  Economy / Speculation / Re: MicroStrategy is planning ANOTHER $600 million convertible debt sale to buy BTC on: February 16, 2021, 05:04:18 PM
I mean I don't think it's a terrible amount of risk because Bitcoin is unlikely to be below current prices very much in the future, it may not even fall this low during a bear market,
Yeah, that's what everyone thinks when the bull market is running rampant.  Nobody can see any end in sight to the euphoria--until it just finally ends with a bang.  I'm hoping we're not near any kind of top, but with bitcoin you just never know.  There are no doubt a lot of traders who've made some serious profits, so there's bound to be some selling as they take their profits off the table.  If they're doing that now it doesn't seem to be affecting the market much, but we'll see.

but it feels like he is like "sell my house to buy bitcoin" level of FOMO now haha.
Lol, I agree 100%.  Or like people who take out cash advances on their credit cards to buy bitcoin, buy using crazy leverage, etc.  I'm curious as to what MSTR's stockholders think about all of this.  The stock has been doing great, but so has the entire market--but I haven't heard of any shareholder revolt because of all of their bitcoin buying as of yet.  Dude better hope bitcoin doesn't start sinking, or else he might find himself out of a job.
3835  Economy / Reputation / Re: condoras and vod colluding to scam others. on: February 16, 2021, 02:27:23 PM
Gotta watch out for impersonators on telegram--I'm not sure that's what's going on here, but someone was trying to impersonate me last month and managed to scam someone out of a few bucks if I'm not mistaken.

These 2 bitches tried to scam me .
Post proof (which I'm almost 100% sure you don't have) or this didn't happen.  Both members are known to NOT be scammers on the forum, and if you're dealing with someone who says they're someone from bitcointalk on any other platform, well...they might not be who they say they are.

Vod doesn't even do deals anyway.  I've never seen him buy or sell bitcoin, take out or give a loan, or any of that.  If you did get scammed, that's on you for not doing due diligence.
3836  Other / Meta / Re: How Come I Can't get along here? on: February 16, 2021, 01:12:53 PM
And I have good sarcastic sense of humour but its not Welcome here?
You have to understand that it's often hard to detect when someone is trying to be sarcastic or funny--on the internet in general, but on this forum in particular, where there are people who speak many different languages to varying degrees of skill.  I haven't picked up on any of your humor, for example--and that might be somewhat of a language barrier issue.

This thread might be better suited for Reputation, by the way, since it's about you.

And with everything that gets written on bitcointalk on a daily basis, maybe people just don't care for what you're writing.  Your English isn't the best (though it isn't horrible), and the threads you start are sometimes kinda meh as far as substance goes.  Why are you trying so hard to impress here?  Is your goal to rank up, become popular....what?
3837  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin reach $50k by the end of 2021? on: February 15, 2021, 03:52:00 PM
it was just 500 dollars away to reach 50k
Was it?  I haven't been obsessively watching bitcoin's price but I have been checking it every few days, and I don't remember it being above $49k (though I certainly could have missed it, and I haven't looked at a chart except for the one above this post).

Anyway, this would be one of the easiest predictions to make--yeah, I'd say bitcoin's going to rocket past $50k, and it's going to do it sooner rather than later.  All of this institutional money that's been pouring into the market seems like a trend rather than a one-off incident.  Things seem extremely bullish for bitcoin right now.

I find it unbelievable, too.  I've said it before:  if you'd asked me if bitcoin would hit $50k in 2021 last March when COVID-19 was just starting to become a thing where I live, I would have been confident in saying "NO".  And yet here we are, and it's not even a year later and bitcoin is in the high $40k's.  Crazy market, this is.
3838  Other / Meta / Re: This shitty Merit System has ruined Bitcointalk and made it like Facebook on: February 15, 2021, 03:32:59 PM
Also signature campaigns now a days requires Merit earn counts in their previous months,  which is impossible for us to have.  Grin Grin
Earning merits is not impossible, dude.  But when you admit to stuff like this:

We low quality posters had already accept the fact, that we are not eligible for ranking up what ever we may do.
You're pretty much admitting that you don't put any effort into your posts and don't want to do the work required to make your posts merit-worthy.  That's on you.  And I'm assuming your first language isn't English, but there are merit sources on a lot of the local boards that can be of help....if you put in the effort.

But on signature campaigns, it's entirely different. People try making high quality posts, otherwise they won't be accepted in future campaigns. At least this is the way I see it.
Depends on the signature campaign and the campaign manager.  If you have a very selective campaign like Chipmixer, you're going to get some of the best posters on the forum, and it's run by a firm but fair manager, DarkStar_.  Other campaigns have been known to let spammers/shitposters in, and there's very little oversight.  But I would agree that bounties are full of idiots posting nonsense nonstop, and the bounty managers generally don't seem to care all that much.
3839  Economy / Reputation / Re: Campaign to exclude Vod from DT. Please join me. on: February 15, 2021, 02:10:54 PM
I sent all sendible merits that I had to all of you. Also I removed my negative feedback from VOD's profile. I guess there is no way to convince him that his feedback must be removed as well. Someone please merit OG on my behalf because I am out of merits.
You didn't have to send any merits to anyone based on whether they support your case (or at least question the evidence).  Save them for posts that are helpful to you and that you think are well written, not as a reward for support.

It's good you took the high road and removed the counter negative.  But regardless of what Vod does or doesn't do, your account isn't ruined--not even if you intend to trade on the forum.  People can see past a negative like the one Vod left you since it doesn't reflect on your trade-trustworthiness.

I don't believe in counter-positive feedbacks, but I know other DT members don't feel the same way.  Maybe one of them might take pity on your case and counter Vod's negative.  Good luck in any case.
3840  Other / Meta / Re: Do mods even understand how the forum is supposed to operate ?? on: February 14, 2021, 07:54:21 PM
And I know the mods are all wussy cowards who dare not speak up but
Speak up about what?  Suspected and/or real trust system abuse?  Trust isn't moderated on this forum, so what the hell do you expect them to say?  And it's not as though this is your first thread bitching about the same issue.  Across all the accounts you've employed, it's probably in the high double digits at this point.

And if you don't like bitcointalk or don't agree with how it currently operates and you can take a extremely-not-subtle hint (i.e., you being ignored by the moderators for years now), find another discussion forum to post on.  Obviously you're having zero impact on how the forum is being run and that isn't likely to change in your lifetime, so just give it up already, eh?

FML I ended up reporting my own post LOL... no more cookies for me, fingers getting too fat.
I actually chuckled out loud at that.
