Nonsense I made much more than 0.2 BTC by leaving my stuff on the exchanges. Just today I caught the Fun pump. Sold 100k fun coins and an hour later the 400% gain was gone. Just diversify a bit so you can afford the hacks..

Livecoin was by far my smallest account. But would still like the money back
You just lost 0.2BTC because you left coins on an exchange that's apparently in the process of pulling an exit scam.  Regardless of the luck you've had, are you seriously arguing that it's safe to keep coins on exchanges?  You're absolute proof that it isn't.

No I am saying the rewards outweigh the risks. I have been able to trade up from a 1k investment to having close to a 100k in two years. That is with having lost 4 exchange accounts along the way.

Hodl all you want and leave the trading to the rest of us.

At least they "want" to communicate and have some bounty open... Undecided
Mmm hmm.  I'll believe that when I start hearing some actual communication from them, which I don't believe has yet happened.

One thing I've learned by observing all sorts of scammers on this forum through the years is that they love stringing their victims along, giving them false hope and watching that hope dashed.  I can't say with 100% certainty that that's what's going on in this case, but Livecoin is starting to grow feathers, a beak, and is swimming like a duck if you know what I mean.  Shortly I think we can conclusively call them a duck unless they start trying to make things right with their customers.

Almost a month after this "alleged hacker" and jonly one statement was said and nothing more about this "Hacker". I lost a small amount, however, and a loss.

One more learning: "Exchange is not a wallet".

We have many lessons like this in crypto community in one decade but still these are not working for us and these scammers running out with good funds and giving shocks after shocks for many years now mostly I try to withdraw funds very quickly after exchange as these are never been safe places for any member of crypto community.

I don't know if they are one of those types of "dudes" who enjoying this situation but I'm sure that we will know eventually what happens with them and their exchange. Even if they don't say a thing besides the creation of an "news channel". Even when the exchange/ site was working properly their social media and communication with their customers, in general, was outdated... Sad

Livecoin exchange is officially shutting down their 'business' after alleged hack attack from last month, and they will pay remaining funds to clients.
You have two months to claim this until March 17th.

I don't know who is trusting them with this, but not me.
Here is their full statement:

Quote
Dear clients, as we reported earlier, our service were under attack in December 2020. Investigation is in active phase right now. Our service has been damaged hard in technical and financial way. There is no way to continue operative business in these conditions, so we take a hard decision to close the business and paying the remaining funds to clients.

Our clients have to contact us via email verification@livecoin.news to get payments after passing verification procedure. We accept claims for payments for the next 2 months. 17 March 2021 is the last day of accepting your requests, after this date no new requests will be accepted.

Please send your username and registration date in Livecoin. You will get detailed instructions in reply. Requests are accepted only from email used for registration in our service. Please use English or Russian languages only.

We apologize for an existing situation and ask you to keep calm, including your conversation with support officers. Our service and team bear hard losses as well as our clients. In case of abuse and threats in conversation, the claim can be declined.

We have to warn you about tons of fake groups in different messengers and other channels, where people represent themselves as our team members, insiders, hackers etc. Participating in these groups you run a high risk, because we have no any groups. The only official statements are made on this website. Do not send money to anyone. You don't have to pay to get back your funds from us, the only thing you need is to send a request and follow simple procedure.

An interesting message I found online

I have a new theory on what's going on. On December 2020 there have been (and continued on january) an historically high level of withdrawals from the exchanges ( see here https://studio.glassnode.com/metrics?a=BTC&category&m=supply.LiquidChange&mAvg=0&mMedian=0&mScl=log&pScl=log&s=1554163200&u=1610074799&zoom ) . In some way Livecoin was seeing his wallets draining out and understood to be insolvent. This has been reported also on a token by his developer ( read here https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/kl0xm0/incent_ceo_proves_livecoin_cooked_their_books/?utm_source=amp&utm_medium=&utm_content=post_body ) . This mechanism would also justify why BTC wallet were closed on dec 23. The reason of the insolvency and lack of BTC could be many, bad programming or an ongoing long and slow hack. This happened on Bitgrail with nano coin. Also mtgox one day discovered to have a lack of 800k bitcoins, and it has never been clarified the reason. So what to do now? Livecoin could be sued for negligence. So they simulated an hack, but they did not have intention to scam initially. At this point, this would also explain the reason of the difficult kyc: the less ppl will make claim, the more they can solve debit. If this theory is true, we could make the kyc without too much worries, assuming that those requests are feasible. This would explain also:
-The BTC wallet locked before hack
-The telegram account deleted the day BEFORE hack
-The fact they did not bother changing the twitter account email
 What do you think?

to what end? we can surmise they only have a small fraction of outstanding liabilities on deposit. and these guys are set up just like btc-e was---shell companies and servers in multiple jurisdictions, operated from russia ostensibly, registered in the UK, infrastructure in the USA. you really think you could find/sue these people and then actually collect?

i agree re the theory. i suspect several of these rinky-dink exchanges like livecoin are running fractional reserves.

Remembering that it was not mandatory to perform KYC on Livecoin, but now to make the reimbursement more difficult and such a procedure is necessary? ,

And see the list for account verification the Livecoin, and if it is to compare with other exchanges, this list is absurd, send up to video? that list clueless.

They have just done the most difficult list of requests they could imagine, to reduce to the maximum extent the number of people making the claim, in order to keep more money for themselves. But at least this makes me think they don't have bad intentions with the kyc, because they would collect the maximum number of IDs with simpler requirements if they just wanted to collect people identities.

the problem is perhaps, what percentage of the wallets do they think to refund, to the small number of users who will do the verification. Of course they did not reply to any request in that.

And why to even ask for such verification requests? This is the easy and simple way for the clients to get their funds back? And who from those incompetent persons, who fail to keep the funds safe, we will trust with our dox? This is pure and simple BS. They just follow the lead of the previous "hacked" exchange, Cryptopia, and want a ton of absurd info just to justify that they doing the "right thing".

I sent some emails to livecoin asking about this information to be sent, but it looks like it's a bot, they just answer the same thing:

Very curious to see if someone will show up with payment received, and how much that will be trustworthy...

Same concern here but if someone knows/recalls everything that they ask to verify him, then we have some hope to see a payment.
I wonder if they send an e-mail to all the clients to notify them of the reclaiming procedure...
