3821  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Long term investing - Spot, Margin or Derivatives? on: September 22, 2022, 02:42:43 PM
I'm one of those idiots who invested in a bunch of coins/tokens at the top and lost a load of money - around $35k in total  Angry

I sold all of my coins/tokens a few months back but I will be reinvesting in numerous difference projects again when, or if, BTC goes down to $14k - which I believe will be somewhere close to the bottom.

The ground you walk on is slippery, and just when you think you are standing stable, you slip and fall. Getting up is of course a difficult process, especially for those who cannot afford to lose $35k and start all over again. However, I would emphasize here that the key thing is to learn from your mistakes, and although I generally understand the need of some investors to invest in "numerous difference projects", I cannot escape the impression that they are making the same mistake again and again.

9 out of 10 such projects will fail in the long term (in less than 4 years), so it all boils down to the perfect timing of when to buy and when to sell. Everything else is speculation, including the fact that the price of Bitcoin must fall below $15k, which is not impossible, but there is also a high probability that it will not happen.
3822  Economy / Speculation / Re: Saylor equivalents? on: September 22, 2022, 02:05:03 PM
I can see it being confusing for someone who doesn't have anyone to tell them about this and not sure what to look up for how to do this stuff (though it wouldn't take much googling to learn all this), but if someone has a friend to tell them how it works they should be set up in no time.

In addition to the general "what/how" confusion, it should also be taken into account that many people are confused by the fact that when they create an account on a CEX and see that there are at least two or more versions of Bitcoins, they buy a fork according to the logic of "this one is cheaper". Such a fork can often end up in another custodial wallet, which in most cases means wasted money.

And buying actual Bitcoin and storing it oneself is infinitely more advisable than buying some bitcoin related investable product like Microstrategy stock or some ETF or whatever.

In general, I would also advise it to anyone who shows that they understand at least some basics when it comes to Bitcoin, but for some it is still safer to buy stocks or shares in a fund. Most people do not have enough determination or knowledge to be their own bank, and they do not understand the risk of using CEX as storage.
3823  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Microstrategy purchased again 301BTC. Is this a sign? on: September 22, 2022, 01:30:36 PM
I think that we may have a difference in the terms. By a near end of bear market I don't say I expect new ATH in the near future, no. It's just that the price should slowly start going upwards instead of downwards. And I have high hopes that this is gonna happen before 2022 ends.

I have nothing against it, but when it comes to this year, I wouldn't hope too much for any positive change, considering that I don't see any reason for the price to go up significantly, let alone to stay there. Any attempt to approach and reach the value of around $25k will probably end up returning to the values we are defending now.

Maybe it will sound pessimistic, but if we keep the price at around $20k until the end of the year, I would consider it positive, although not a guarantee that we have reached the bottom. Too many hyenas smelled blood, and by that I mean those big players who have a lot of money - and they already know very well that Bitcoin has become a safe bet if they play smart, and that means knocking down the price as much as possible, buying as much as possible and then emptying the bag in next ATH.
3824  Economy / Economics / Re: US Economy Is a Safer Bet Than ‘Dire’ Europe, Goldman Strategists Say on: September 22, 2022, 12:47:43 PM
I have the feeling that a lot of people want Europe to sink even lower, and that the war in Ukraine will last at least another year, but maybe it just seems that way to me as a mere observer who still feels the consequences of everything on his skin. Maybe I've lived through some much worse things than inflation and recession, so all this seems to me like too much scaring people and causing panic. The situation is not at all harmless, but it is not exactly the end of the world, regardless of the craziness coming from the east, where the open threats of nuclear war come from - even though such a war means the destruction of all of Europe and the US.

However, there is also good news from the guys from GS, because if we believe their analysis, gas prices will be halved and despite all the announcements that the EU will turn into a big ice sheet filled with penguins, none of that will happen.

European countries can withstand Russia’s gas cuts this winter as supply headaches may have been “successfully solved”, according to analysis by a leading US bank.
Goldman Sachs said the price of gas was likely to more than halve this winter as efforts by EU countries’ to avoid big shortages this winter prove effective.
Goldman said on Tuesday it expected European wholesale natural gas prices to fall from about €215 (£186) a megawatt hour to below €100 a MWh by the end of the first quarter of next year, assuming typical winter weather conditions. That is well below the €213 previously predicted.
3825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobel prize for Satoshi. on: September 22, 2022, 10:22:24 AM
It seems many of you are facinated about Satoshi. Some you have become genuine fan of Satoshi. But the truth is few of you actually do not want Satoshi to be publicly known for some private interest.

No one is "facinated" as you say, but some may be fascinated (some much more than they should like you) with who Satoshi is, and they forget that what he did is much more important. It is not your decision or mine whether Satoshi will ever reveal his identity, but exclusively his personal matter which should be respected.

If Satoshi publish his identity and get a Nobel Prize, I am sure Bitcoin value will go to the moon over night.

Probably the exact opposite would happen, because Bitcoin would somehow become centralized and various experts would immediately start speculating about his alleged 1 million BTC and what would happen if he tried to sell it. My opinion is that Satoshi left because some close associates started calling him out for making too many decisions independently, but also because it was the only way for Bitcoin to become what it is today.

Look at what Jamie does, instead of looking at what Jamie says.

The man should make up his mind once and for all about Bitcoin (I don't care what he thinks about tokens/altcoins), because it just shows that he lacks basic knowledge about what he's talking about. Either the man is really a bit stupid, or he is just an ordinary manipulator.

In September, Dimon called bitcoin a fraud. “I regret making” that comment, he said Tuesday on Fox Business.

“The blockchain is real,” Dimon added in the interview. “You can have cryptodollars in yen and stuff like that. ICOs ... you got to look at every one individually. The bitcoin was always to me what the governments are going to feel about bitcoin when it gets really big. And I just have a different opinion than other people.”
3827  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Looking for a real mining platforms that pays. on: September 21, 2022, 03:58:41 PM
Recently I have been mining with a lot of different cryptocurrency platforms that looks so promising and real to work out eventually as claimed. How I got to encounter these alt coin mining platforms (am not sure if the right word to use is platform) was through a good friend of mine whom which we're in same shit together due to a pressing need that needs a lot of money for us to procure for our proposed business.

I assume that in your post you are referring to what is called cloud mining, and it is no secret that 99% of all those services are scams without any doubt. The thing looks very attractive, especially for beginners who think that they are really mining something, but in fact in most cases there is no company, nor any mining devices. Sometimes, in terms of deception, the user gets the first or second payment, but only to buy a bigger and more expensive package that will never pay off.

He has been introducing me into lots of these mining platforms he gets from some persons he meets online, who claimed to be paying them for lots of months...

Your friend is himself in the wrong about all this, or he is knowingly dragging you and others in because of the profit he makes from referrals. Mining, online friends and business offers, perfect scenario to lose a lot of money.

Further more I promised the fellow that I was going to get back to him with probable solutions to what he's looking for, and so I'll really appreciate anyone in the forum that can give any genuine information on this so I can get back a feedback to the fellow.

Unless your friend has a lot of money, lives in a country where crypto mining is legal and electricity is cheap, I would advise him to forget that he will profit that way.

Is it a sign? Probably. I see it as a sign that they expect the bear market come to an end in the near future. And since also the historical data (on BTC price) tells the same, I'm not surprised.

I don't believe that this is the case when it comes to this latest investment, unless by "near future" someone considers the period that will occur in 1.5 to 2 years from today. For such a large company, it is certainly nothing more than the blink of an eye, while for many, 2 years seems like an eternity from today's perspective.

It is interesting to me that the total number of Bitcoins that MS now owns is rounded to 130 000, which is a very nice number - of course not for those who believe that 13 is a very unlucky number.

Not only that, the Seed Group will help CoinCorner expand their operations in the UAE and access top decision makers in the public and private sectors. If there is good news of btc around, we can see Btc up very soon. Roll Eyes

I don't know how many times this news has already been published on this and the previous page, but it would be good if you and the other publishers of so-called breaking news would think for a while that this kind of news does not make much sense, nor will it affect the price.

Regardless of how much some people want a bull run, we are in an evident bear market, which is further strengthened by inflation and the war in Ukraine, which is clearly entering a new phase with Putler's order on the partial mobilization of around 300 000 soldiers from the reserve.

For those impatient, halving pills are finally available Smiley

Self-reliance is just a dream, impossible to realize in today's world.

Although I agree with that in principle, when you already mentioned Japan, I remembered an example of an office building that contains 43 000 square feet of area for growing about 200 different types of fruits and vegetables. I was really fascinated by such an approach, which not only produces food for the employees, but also creates a very pleasant working environment - except for those who don't really like to be in the natural environment.

So, try to not act like a 16yo ignorant pos, grow a pair, and be done with, what you're doing right now is just digging your whole deeper and deeper.

How can he not act like he's 16 years old, when maybe he's even less than that? Be that as it may, I have nothing against him digging a big enough hole for himself that he won't be able to get out of, and he is very well on his way to that goal.

300$ is peanuts.
Coming from the guy who thought he had bankrupted Stake by winning 400$.  Cheesy

Hundreds of dollars may even be a funny comparison, if we know how many tears were shed for just $10 Roll Eyes

i post for fun you post the money this the difference. the amount i make in 1 month you make in 30 years in your signature camapigns.

Theoretically, everyone in the CM campaign can earn a maximum of $300 per week or $1200 per month, which is $14 400 per year x 30 years = $432 000. Claiming that you earn more than that in one month only positions you in the group of the biggest liars on the forum.
3833  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GINOXE.COM on: September 21, 2022, 10:45:08 AM
No one on the forum can help you return the money you invested, and considering that it is a significant amount, I suggest that you try to report the whole case to the police with as many details as possible. The chances that you will be able to return that money are very small, but you have the option to come to terms with the fact that you are a victim of a scam, or to still try something through legal means.

I don't understand how you even came up with the idea of investing so much money in something you don't understand?
3834  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Received Error When Installed Electrum on: September 21, 2022, 10:34:48 AM
@Sarah Azhari, if you have any serious intentions about Bitcoin, then don't consider Windows 7 as an operating system option at all, it's just an additional risk in addition to the fact that you will probably use Electrum as a hot wallet. If you want, you can download and install Windows 10, which is basically free to use, with some very minor restrictions if you don't buy a license.

You received some good advice that can solve your problem, but whatever you do in life, try to do it the right way, because every mistake you make can cost you dearly in the future.
3835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobel prize for Satoshi. on: September 21, 2022, 10:20:54 AM
Why does anyone think that the Nobel Prize is relevant at all after it was awarded to Barack Obama, who at that time was the president of the US for only about eight months and did not in any way contribute to peace in the world? Satoshi was (or still is) an honest man who does not deserve to have his name anywhere near the Nobel prize.

The biggest reward for him is that Bitcoin managed to survive despite all attempts to destroy it, and that is much more valuable than any award from the old corrupt farts from the Nobel committee.
3836  Economy / Economics / Re: Are Spare Change Investment Apps A Good Option on: September 20, 2022, 03:42:04 PM
To me, from the perspective of someone who will invest $10 or $20 (or twice as much) a month, this does not seem like something that promises any kind of profit that makes sense. This is something like "investing for dummies", without realizing what they are really investing in and whether they will earn anything at all one day.

Imagine a world where one such company is worth almost $1 billion and has 5 million users, truly amazing in every way Roll Eyes
3837  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Fake Coinmarketcap Website Offering ETH Merge! on: September 20, 2022, 03:23:35 PM
Nobody will be victimized by these phishing sites if people will only bookmark sites that they frequently visit...

I wish you were right, but it seems to me that no one does this kind of thing just for the sake of trying, but that scams in the world of cryptocurrencies are very profitable, which has been proven many times. What is a bigger problem for me is that such websites are not blocked at the same speed (or at all) when they are reported for phishing via google safe browsing. This way of protecting potential victims used to be quite effective.
3838  Other / Meta / Re: Attaining legendary rank - is that the end? on: September 20, 2022, 02:54:44 PM
I've been noticing this particular aspect in this forum since I joined in February of this year. Many legendary members do not receive more merits than lower rank members, in my opinion. This led me to believe that they had attained the highest rank and didn't require merit to move up. They can contribute whenever they want or not, and even provide detailed answers to questions that deserve to be answered. They only comment when they feel it is necessary and add to their post count, which is especially important for signature campaigns.

Some Legendary members are classic shitposters who reached that rank in the system without merits, and some do not have paid signatures and are not very active on the forum. Therefore, it is easy to conclude that we can classify them into several categories, and those who are the most active, certainly according to the data already presented, are not those who have not been awarded with enough merits.

What I’m curious about is that only a few legendary guys are always active in the forum and providing lasting solutions to questions posed in the forum. Others that are active only post to complete their signature posts. Does that imply that after getting to legendary rank, making posts or comments to be merited is not necessary again? Kudos to those legendary guys that are always active and provide solutions to questions even when they’re not on any campaign. They’re amongst the real heroes here.

This forum is still (mostly) visited by people who have lives in the real world, and it is foolish to expect that everyone can be active all the time. Maybe you will understand some things if you ever get to the stage where you can say that you have been active on the forum for at least 5+ years and regardless of ranks, merits and signature campaigns, you will be able to be active every day.

Many people used to come here to shitpost before the merit system was implemented. Merits were airdropped for users back then; is this why they don't understand the value of being a legendary because they didn't earn it through their knowledge contributions to the forum, but rather by simply posting whatever they wanted?

Value to be Legendary? The members you are talking about never cared about the forum or the rank, but only about the profit they can make. It is true that reaching the Legendary rank in the new system has a much greater weight and is therefore more valued, and those who managed to collect 1000 merits in an honest way in that system proved that airdropped merits on them are not an unfair reward for the time they spent on the forum years before that.
3839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm seriously considering starting a website to stop Greenpeace's bitcoin FUD. on: September 20, 2022, 01:29:56 PM
I am always in favor of being on the side of the truth, and if that means that we have to dispute everything that the people from Greenpeace will claim in their campaign, then the only question is how to do it in the best possible way. I agree that creating a website is a good start, and that we should use social networks to make as many people as possible aware of the truth when it comes to the completely senseless attack on Bitcoin in the context of environmental protection.

I am ready to provide active support for this idea through my Twitter and link on my website, as well as through avatar/personal text when the @hodlonaut case is decided.

As for famous Twitter accounts, along with all the others already mentioned, only Tim Draper comes to mind at the moment.

Like I said, the longer the story goes on the more I become sceptical, and it's largely because of how he words a lot of the things he says, but also makes claims like this. Once I get time later (probably more tomorrow), I'll watch the interview in which he says this, since I'm highly curious on how he even thinks he had that information.

It seems that the Satoshi IP is just an addition that raises the whole story to a higher level, although it seems to me that it is not something that was discussed much, because the focus was always on the lost Bitcoins. Unless we're missing something in the technical sense (which is unlikely), I don't see how that supposedly lost hard disk could contain such information.
